Wow!!! I can't believe how many times I've driven by this little place and only just today actually tried it. Had I known I would have definitely stopped sooner. Its right next to the post office and had I not seen someone else enter before me, I would have been confused on where to find it. It's just a single glass door on the side of the building. No open sign, name of restaurant or hours posted on it. First of all, the service was amazing. So friendly and sweet! Both ladies that waited on us were awesome. secondly, the menu has all sorts of delicious options that anyone can find something they like. It's super casual inside. They have the country diner vibe down. Tables and chairs in the center and some booths around the perimeter. They have regular menus but definitely check out the specials board next to and the host/cashier station and huge wall size chalkboard on the back wall. Keep driving! I live in this town and happened to be at the Post Office next door so decided to get an early dinner. For context - i was the ONLY customer in the restaurant (probably because it was early). Waitress takes my order - delivers it - never checks on me again. I was out of drink - she just sat in another booth and never even looked my way or checked on - she just gabbed with the other THREE employees. I get it - i could have gotten up and brought her my cup for a refill - not sure that's my job. Food was average - i got the hamburger steak...a bit dry. Portions are small and uneventful - my sides were mashed potato's and broccoli salad. Everything was served on styrofoam and plastic utensils $19 later and - Anyhow - i won't be back. At first glance their menu is generic, but they have about 10 - 15 specials that aren't in the menu. These are written in chalk marker on the walls. Ranging from Cajun shrimp poboys to Italian grilled chicken sandwich with pesto. The later was my choice. It came with one side and I couldn't say no to the sweet potato fries with cinnamon honey. For $8.95 you can NOT beat that. My sister ordered the BBQ chicken quesadilla and loved it! I'm not saying if this place matches the "dive" description, but it definitely is punching well above its weight. Much of the menu and all of the days specials are posted along the wall, and don't miss the separate listing of the daily desert offering. Ask your server what they recommend, because they have their finger on the pulse of the best and most popular daily dishes. My bride and my sister are most frequently drawn to the pork ribs, but I order all around the menu and have been pleased with everything I've ordered. For some reason, I tend to forget that they offer hoecakes, which if you are uninitiated is something of a cross between a pancake and a biscuit. Trust me, you'll like it. The servers are helpful and courteous, and are working their tails off because the place is always hopping. We've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get a table, but a short weight is to be expected at dinner time. Since returning to NC we have used many venues to bring breakfast home. We have been so impressed with the quality of the food and the packaging. While dine-in is available, we prefer bringing the meals home to watch the morning news. While breakfast is breakfast, I have been impressed with the quality of their eggs and steak used. If you are doing breakfast, the breakfast menu is available til 10:30 or 11am---which is my only complaint. I love the staff. They do everything with a smile and are happy to help you. This is our family's go-to. It's a diner at its best--a hole-in-the-wall that is warm and inviting, mostly due to its fabulous staff. The food is SO good. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. I do wish it was a little bigger because this place gets some business during lunch. The fried chicken is like what grandma used to cook. They have daily specials and there regular menu items aren't pricey at all. Today I had the Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich with hot chips. The chips were made to perfection and I got the chicken grilled. It too was fantastic, not dry at all. The honey mustard tasted homemade with a sweet flavor. My only issue with it is a true cordon Blue is stuffed chicken which this was not but was still delicious and I highly recommend it. The Country Fried Steak was a frozen product with little flavor and no tenderness. The white gravy was very watery, and also lacked any depth of flavor. The devil eggs were bland, the white section tough, rubbery, and the Macaroni Salad was very, very sweet. The Pulled Pork was tender, with some decent flavor on its own, but the sauce that was added in the kitchen was not one I cared for. The Salad was big, but not at all fresh tasting, and there were brown spots on the lettuce. The slaw and hush puppies were ok, but nothing special. Service was decent, though time out of the kitchen for 2 Daily Specials was slow. All in all, a most disappointing experience, and one that will not be repeated. read more

I normally love the food and service here but today I left very disappointed. We ate inside and ordered two cowboy burgers and pulled pork sandwich. The burgers were burnt and crispy to where we couldn't eat it. The pulled pork was very dry. The chips we had were over cooked and had strong flavor of grease. I am not one to complain at all but I did mention it to our waitress. Thought she was putting in another order for the food we couldn't eat but instead she brought us a cookie and said "cookie makes everything better" The meal cost me $27 for four bites all together out of the entire meal. read more

My wife and I visited the restaurant on 9/30/20. Having just moved to this area 6 months prior. The food was good, the restaurant did not observe social distance. every booth was filled.
