We just found this deli, and it was amazing! The staff was very friendly. The food was amazing. The prices were also really good. I got the club sandwich. My husband got a bbq beef sandwich with a buffalo chicken baked potato. He asked for the potato to be plain with just chicken and cheese. Usually it would also have ranch, diced tomatoes, and onions. A hidden gem! Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. The sandwiches were tasty and the pricing very fair considering the size of the sandwiches. There were lots of people in and out with dine in and to-go orders. Love how it is in a back corner of an antique mall, so there is a place to rest if it is needed for shopping. read more

JJ's Side Street Deli is equal parts odd, interesting, and unique. And all for the same reason. Namely, it is located in an indoor antique mall, which imparts all of the aforementioned characteristics.  Unfortunately, none of this translates into a lunch experience that is anything more than just good. You order at the counter, then go back up to pick up your food when they call your number. I ordered a reuben, potato salad, and sweet tea. Reuben: the taste was good, but the corned beef was entirely too tough. The sauerkraut and thousand island dressing were both fine. The sandwich was nicely grilled on a rye/pump swirl bread. The pickle spear that came with it was delicious and crunchy. Potato salad: way too much mayonnaise. I'm not sure if it was over-stirred or what, but there was too much of the "goop" and not enough potato. And the mayonnaise should be there to cream and compliment and consolidate--it should be virtually undetectable, but this was way too noticeable. Sweet tea: excellent; nice blend of tea flavor with good ol' southern sweetness. JJ's is a little hard to find because it is located inside the antique mall--it's a little unexpected. The building is cold, so plan on eating your meal while wearing a jacket. You will also be treated to/tortured by (depending on your taste in music) classic country playing in the background. I heard Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, Willie Nelson, David Allan Coe, George Jones, and others. Obviously, you can do some antiquing before or after eating, which is pretty neat. There is one section where shopping is a nuisance, though, because it is at the confluence of the music playing in the antique mall and the music playing in the deli, which do not mesh well. It is difficult to process Niall Horan's plaintive, melancholy "This Town" playing alongside the angry, edgy grit of Johnny Paycheck's "Take this Job and Shove It": Waking up to kiss you and nobody's there Take this job and shove it The smell of your perfume still stuck in the air I ain't workin here no more Over and over the only truth My woman done left, and took all the reason Everything comes back to you I'd been working for Both big hits in their respective genres, but hardly meant to be played back to back, much less simultaneously. JJ's was pretty dead at lunch rush on a weekday. Not sure how they are doing as a business, and I hope they make it.  A more tender reuben would help. read more

After the Christmas Parade, we went inside one of the entrances to find the hidden JJ's Side Street Deli. We had a table of 8 and fortunately we got in before the rest of the crowd. Each of us had a different selection, so it was a tough crowd. JJ's was very quick with our order----everything was correct and a very hearty serving. A great lunch venue. This place is hidden in the corner of an emporium. You would not expect it to be the treasure that it is, but it surprises you! The staff is always friendly and helpful. It's always orderly and clean. The menu has a lot of variety, however, I must admit I've only tried a few items. I'm one of those people who tends to order the same thing all the time. I'm stuck on my favorite sandwich at JJ's... The Ham & Jam... It's just THAT GOOD. I always say... I'm gonna try something different, then I get there and I see my Ham & Jam on the menu and I can't help myself - I order it darn near every single time! Now one day I did stray. It was a cold & rainy afternoon and I tried a Buffalo Chicken Super Spud... and it did NOT disappoint! It was excellent! This place is loaded with character and friendliness. The sandwiches are large portions and are made-to-order. I got a Turkey wrap and it was yummy. They went a little crazy with the mustard, so I will ask them to go east next time. I really like it, and I will be back to try other menu items. read more

This sandwich shop is a very welcome in Thomasville as the options are bleak at best, the owner is extremely friendly and the food is delicious, the only reason I gave 4 stars is because the location inside the thomasville emporium is a bit small and the atmosphere is a little lacking but after a bite you can shop around and find some pretty cool stuff. read more

JJs Side Street Deli is a real gem with the best deli fare around. JJ is most always on site and the place is spotless and full of nostalgia. Everything we have tried has been excellent. Food is made to order and freshly prepared on site. To add to the charm of JJs, the deli is nestled inside a spacious antique emporium in downtown Thomasville. It's just a short walk to the world's largest chair and the area offers some of the best views and photo opportunities of passing trains. read more

Food is good, not amazing but quality ingredients. The sandwiches are their best works, sides are lackluster. Don't come here if you aren't prepared to wait a while for your order, every time its at least a 10min wait to get my order. Everything tastes great, prices are high/average for the quality ingredients you are getting though but food presentation is good. If it wasn't for the slow turnaround and everything on the menu being a dollar or 2 higher then id expect from a deli id give 5 stars. Went to Thomasville on a whim and stumbled upon this deli while antique shopping. Tucked in the back (or front, depending on how you look at it) of a giant antique emporium, this place is easy to miss but such a wonderful find. They offer simple lunch staples at low prices plus some sandwiches with a "modern" twist. Combos like 1/2 a sandwich and a cup of soup are also available. Service was prompt and polite, there were two girls running the show and killing it. I grabbed a chicken salad on a croissant that was banging. Super fresh bread and flavorful chicken salad. We've eaten at JJs many times and just did again Monday, August 12. The food is consistently delicious and they even make any of their sandwiches into lettuce wraps for me, since I'm doing the Keto diet and avoid bread.
