Tried it out for the reviews and I love a good diner but this was more Waffle House vibes. I appreciate the team work of the waitresses, mostly because ours took our order then we never saw her again until she was checking to make sure we were done and leaving. My hashbrowns were more like short steak fries, not crispy at all. Coffee had flecks of something in it, like glitter or oil or something. The other waitress was super friendly and attentive so I can't say it was all bad. But just really underwhelming. Oh and the "butter" on the toast almost looked plastic. read more

I tried the build-your-own lunch/dinner plate (daily) special. The fish had light breading and was crisp. The fish fillets were generous portions. Served with a tangy tartar sauce. Ordered cucumber salad and cottage cheese sides. The cucumber salad is vinegar based and a tad sweet. The cottage cheese is standard fare and I seasoned with a bit of salt & pepper. I just love a great plate of crispy potatoes whether it's hashbrowns or home fries and these home fries did not disappoint! I had a cheese omelette and added mushrooms, and I love the fact that the cheese was melted inside versus placed on top and not melted at some other places, too. the waitress kept the coffee flowing and everyone was very hospitable. If you're ever in the Thomasville area, make sure you visit this place. They sell breakfast all day and some of the other entrées that people were ordering for lunch looks really good as well. I was customer at this Diner for eight years and I have watch the staff come and go but the food stayed good! Well just like everything sometimes good things come to and end. MY TWO FAVORITE WAITRESSES ARE GONE!!!! And you can really tell the wait staff will take you order and serve to you but that is the last you will see of them no refills on what ever beverage your drinking. They're all standing around talking looking at cellphones or eating. I work hard for my money and I will not waste it low standard service. Quality of food and service has gone way down. Server recently argued with me when I asked for my food to be reheated. It was cold to touch.

Was not our original destination today! The diner was very busy, (always a good sign). They were having difficulty with keeping up clearing the tables. Our server informed us they were 2 servers down. As a manager for my work I was surprised to not see the manager out helping clear tables. We all stood by a table until the server came and cleared it. The food was served quickly, and was good. Actually the bacon was probably the best I've had eating out. Not sure why but it had great flavor and crispness. The tables, mugs and menus were full of advertisements of local businesses. It took away from ambiance or maybe that is the ambience ... Don't look at us look at all the businesses that help permanently pay our rent! Not a bad idea, just depending on how you look at it. Stopped here on a Tuesday mid-morning prior to going thrift shopping. The restaurant has been there for several years, and has a lot of history. It is quite small inside, and it's impossible not to hear the different conversations around you. I found this off-putting due to the nature and content (anti-lgbtq and racial slurs), which is no way the restaurants fault...but we were also not offered another place to sit and enjoy our food and company. Service is slow, probably due to the place being quite busy (in which servers were overloaded). We ordered a pancake with side of bacon, club sandwich with potato wedges, and two eggs over easy with fried liver pudding and hashbrowns. Our food arrived in segments, and not all together, which was a little frustrating. I will say the food was quite good, with the exception of the bacon being fried so hard it crumbled. The prices are decent, and they do offer daily specials as well as an extensive veggie list. I will probably try to come back to visit, to try their veggies at least. Hopefully my surrounding company will be of better stature and service will be quicker. read more

My wife, daughter, and I visited Thomasville Diner for the first time Sunday morning. Food was above average. Pancakes are huge...you only need one. Omelette was good, not great. Service and resolving the service was an issue. Let me make clear, we are not the complaining type. I wasn't even planning to review the Diner, but I felt a little dissed and yelp asked so hear we go. My wife's food came out very late. Order: French Toast, Scrambled eggs, and bacon. My daughter and I had already received our order. Within a few minutes of patiently waiting, our waitress came by and we pointed out she had no plate. She said it'll be right out but didn't make a beeline to the kitchen I noticed, rather started taking more orders. After she departed we were ghosted. She took other orders and refilled others' cups around and so on. Never looked for a hailing hand...nothing. My daughter and I ate upon my wife's request, and after 15 minutes of that, cold coffee, and my wife growing into hangry mode, another waitress brought out her food. French Toast was hot. Eggs and bacon were plated separately and were cold. My wife ate the French toast but did not eat the cold eggs. Orders get forgotten. We know this. No big deal. But after I told the waitress that my wife's food came "very" late, she quickly apologized and left. Didn't make an offer to reduce or give any discount. Usually, if these situations occur, we do not allow waiters/waitresses to take off items when we eat them. We eat something, we pay for it. That's fair. But the second time she came back, I had to point out that since the eggs were still sitting in her plate untouched I am asking that those be removed from the bill. Rather than saying yes, she says, the Boss has to authorize it. For eggs? That's pretty small. I did not ask for the whole bill to be removed...just the eggs. She finally came back. Instead of removing the eggs, she says for me to tell the boss when I check out. That's a severe bill reducing filter, if you ask me. I go to the register and the boss is there. Has no clue who I am. I have to say the waitress said that you'd remove the eggs from the bill to him. He says, "Okay." Rings up the bill of $30+ and the next words are the price and "do you want to leave a tip?" I'm a bit surprised at this point. I say nothing but "put a $3 tip on it." I should've tipped nothing but I'm not a jerk. Moral of story: food is pretty good, service is average, but resolving food and service problems...nearly a zero. Won't go back. read more

Just a bad experience. Wife and I both ordered fried chicken. We both ordered white meat, but wife received dark. No problem. Just a misunderstanding. The server took it back and came back with MORE dark meat. Got it right on the third try. But both of us got barely warm chicken. Mashed potatoes were cold. Baked potato was not done. Corn nuggets were cold. This was after 4 in the afternoon, and we figured our food was left over from lunchtime. Just a disaster. read more

If you looked up small town, Southern diner on Wikipedia this is the place you would find, picture perfect inside and out. This is an attractive restaurant on the exterior, a little worn, but cozy on the inside. They serve all 3 meals, breakfast all day, and close at 7:30 PM. They have specials that change daily built around solid Souther dishes like fried chicken (excellent), chicken & dumplings (more like Chicken & Pastry, with the pastry long, thin, & silky) which also is super, meat loaf, popcorn shrimp, and more. The sides are the usual diner suspects, and all done very, very well. Cornbread, rolls, and biscuits accompany the plates, and all are nice. Their hot dog is good, but not great, with a relatively thin chili, with some underlying sweetness, and very little zip in the taste. The service is excellent - friendly, efficient, just plain nice, small town folks. Prices are reasonable with a meat & 3 sides, with bread, running about $8 - you can reduce that with fewer sides. Portions are nice, as well. This is a fine little diner, with excellent country cooking - if you want light eating, or food messed about, this isn't the place. Best diner I've ever been to, and I've been to diners all over this country. I'm from New York and I would drive all the way down here just to eat here again. I might just move here honestly. I love old-fashioned diners and dives all across the United States and North Carolina. I'd heard a lot about the T-ville diner in Thomasville. It has a rich history in this town started out as a train dining car. It is rated number two Diner by TripAdvisor for this town. However, where the rubber meets the road is the food. I was told by the waitress that they have really good Alaskan Whitefish. It was very run-of-the-mill, almost like frozen food you get out of the freezer at the supermarket and very low quantity. Even the hush puppies I got with the dinner tasted Frozen. I will say the tartar sauce was good, but I didn't have enough fish to dip it in. However, it did come with three vegetables or two vegetables and a dessert, which I thought was a nice gesture. I mean, the menu is extensive here, everything from Greek through American food. My guests got a hamburger that was terrible to taste. Also, I had another guest get a hot dog it was terrible. They have red slaw here, but beware it is very sweet and probably not the red slaw you were expecting. I've always been told that if a diner can not make a hot dog or hamburger correctly, watch out for the other food. I did find out their meats come from Shuler Meat Company of Lexington. I found out from the waitress that if you order from the right side of the menu on the dinner side, they will cook up meat fresh to order probably a good thing to do. Unfortunately, they do not offer a military discount, but their prices aren't bad. I believe a lot of people order the breakfast here it's around the clock breakfast place. I urge you to read the history of this place it is pretty amazing how long this place has been around. I do hope they will work a little harder on putting better food to the plate, though. PLEASANTLY SURPRISED ! Went for breakfast and was presently surprised what I found. A Simple diner with a lot of history mounted on the walls. Order was quickly prepared and I found it to be tasty. Also surprised at the $4 "BREAKFAST SPECIALS" till 11am (not including beverage). I have been back a few times before making this post and the staff have always been friendly and attentive. There are a few diners in Tville but this one has caught my interest due to good food, good service, great prices ! So I called T'vllle dinner because they left of my grits and toast off of my sausage and egg platter and I also had a pancake platter .1st I spoke to 2 people neither one of them said I'm sorry. the 1st person I talked to handed of the phone and 2nd person I talked to said either way you would have been charged $16 something because Grit's and toast comes with it. Well if it comes with it then I paid for it. she then went to look at my ticket to see how it was rung up now she says it was $16 dollars because you added cheeas to both platters which is 35 cent. when I went in the restaurant the cashier never spoke she asked my name and said your stuff is right there did not hand it to me and move to customer behind me. When you are spending your money somewhere you expect good customer service and when things are left off at least an apology will do. read more

The last time I was here, I was with my family and I was pregnant. I ordered a omelet with mushrooms in it and you could clearly tell that they were canned. The liquid underneath my omelet confirmed that. Unless they use FRESH INGREDIENTS, I will NOT be back. What omelet, do you know, has canned vegetables and liquid underneath of it?!?
