I'm so glad I came here. I initially wanted brunch but after looking at the menu and smelling the food I was indeed hungry for enough for lunch. The food was so good, the chicken was tender and juicy. Personally I prefer my cabbage chopped finely but this cabbage was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The service was great, I felt very welcomed by the staff from the moment I walked in. The ambiance is very family friendly so this is a great place to bring the entire family for good food. Stopped for lunch at the village grill. This place is usually busy for lunch. They also serve breakfast in the morning I got the Greek lamb gyro. A little bland, but decent portion. I was going to Lexington today and had no idea where I was going to eat at lunch so I asked a friend and they suggested this place. The village grill looks kind of fancy but not too fancy and I was greeted with a smile as I entered the door. The white dress gave me a menu and then gave me an index card with the handwritten specials which I thought was kind of neat. I got the country style, steak, mac and cheese, and my favorite vegetable lima beans. It was not a very long wait till I got my food and the phone was really good. The service was absolutely the worst that I have ever had. We had to get our own drinks, never saw our waitress, and all of the food we got was cold. The amount of food was poor. Maybe this isn't the best place on weekends? I wasn't actually planning on stopping by today, but the restaurant I was planning on going to on my way home was closed, so I figured I'd stop at a trusted place. My bad. From the beginning, it wasn't great. I asked for a Yuengling draft, but they were out. For a place that has four beers on draft, it's bizarre how often they are out of Yuengling. I ordered a Red Oak instead (it's not bad at all, but it wasn't my first choice). The salmon cakes were on special, and my mom used to make salmon cakes for us when I was growing up, so I ordered them, along with corn and lima beans. Let's just say the salmon cakes were nothing like what my mom used to make. Imagine fried baby food. I'm not sure why anyone would fry baby food, but imagine if you dare. There was no discernible flavor; I believe there was salmon in the cake, or at least something salmon-adjacent, but I would not swear on a Bible or even a battered paperback copy of a Nancy Drew mystery that it was so. And the cakes looked like flattened hockey discs or something. It was not appetizing in any way. And the corn and the lima beans were both unseasoned. I added salt to both and pepper to the corn and they were okay, but it was really surprising. Every other time I've been there, the lima beans have been perfectly seasoned (this was the first time I ordered corn). The only thing I would say I enjoyed were the hushpuppies. They have really good hushpuppies. It's not a good sign when I wish I had stopped at a fast food chain and brought it home instead of eating out at a restaurant, but there you have it. Ok so it took me going 3 times before I found something really good on the menu. I like the staff, environment and finally the food. First time I went I had the fried chicken plate and was underwhelmed as a former New Yorker I had high expectations for what I thought would Southern fried chicken but I found it to be plain at least to my Caribbean palette. Second time I ordered the club sandwich which was ok but def something that can be made at home and not something worth ordering. The last time I went I ordered the Greek plate and it was amazing. Meat, rice, pita and a salad all for like $11. It was so yummy ! I like going there and I'm glad I found something to my liking. My husband and I had not eaten here in a few years since Covid time so we decided to try it again. Their menu says cube steak for their country fried steak. We both ordered it and it came out burned. The waitress had them to redo it and then the middle was soggy. Besides all these problems the meat was not cube steak. At best it was a chuck wagon steak. The mash potatoes were instant and the brown gravy had a weird taste about it. Our salad had imitation cheese on it. The waitress tried her best to help make it a pleasant experience,but it was a big let down. We do not plan on going there to eat again. The manager which was also running the register did not make it right on the meals either. She did not seem to care. I ordered a cheeseburger and fried okra & lasagna and salad. The cheeseburger was cold and hard. It was Disgusting! Like eating cardboard, I only took a bite or two and threw it away. The lasagna was under portioned for the price . It was ok . Not the best I've had. Fried okra was good. This place use to have good food. Now it's just all about the money and not quality. They need to change cooks because they are reheating the food till it is so hard or no flavor. Nasty!! It will be awhile before I go back or I may never go back. They have good steaks and shrimp. Came in to have a beer while waiting on my to go order to be ready. I ordered a Yuengling on draft and the lady poured it filling 1/4 of the glass with foam. I politely told her I did not want that beer due to the amount of foam that was poured into the beer and that I would be happy with a different beer but she insisted on telling me that "it would be alright and the foam would settle" until I just gave in and said "ok". Fast forward to 10 minutes later she still has my beer sitting right in front of me but not serving it to me while she pays more attention to getting to go orders out than just simply picking the beer up and setting it in front of me. By the time I got the beer it looked like there had been 10 gulps taken out of it due to the foam evaporating and on top of that my to go order was ready so it was pointless to even order the beer in the first place. Solid comfort food with a Greek twist like Granny made. Meatloaf was tasty and huge. Great souvlaki and Gyros although it's too bad they don't serve more Greek items or at least a few more soups. So, the special I ordered was,meatloaf. It really wasn't special. It had way too much bread added. I guess that's to cut costs. It was also burnt top and bottom. My wife had the chicken and dumplings. She said they were good, but the broth was a little runny. The corn and beans tasted like they came out of a can. The corn bread was extremely dry. From the outside The Village Grill looks like a great place to eat. It is nothing like the outside decor, once you walk in its a whole in the wall dive. I couldn't find anything on the menu that was lite on calories so I ordered a side salad. I was told NO lite dressings so I just got italian. The salad was awlful. I couldn't even eat it. It was shredded lettuce with cheese, onion and tomato. The tomatoes were mush. Needless to say I paid for the salad and only had one bite. Worst experience I've had in a while. My parents and I were visiting from Texas and decided to give this place a try on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We checked in and put our name on the list, and were told that it would only be a couple of minutes. Over the next 15 minutes, 4 groups were seated before us (although they did not have a reservation, but appeared to know the owner/manager). I asked the owner of the restaurant if it was mainly reserved for his friends, so that we could perhaps find another restaurant. He replied saying that he would seat us when the next booth was available. Another two groups were seated (the same size as ours), and then finally we were seated. It was another 10 minutes until our waitress came to get our drink order. I gave them two stars because the food was actually quite good (when we finally received it), but unless you're friends with the staff or local regulars, I would advise to steer clear of this restaurant unless you like being treated like a second rate citizen. FYI, they may have a bar in their restaurant, but apparently they do not serve alcohol. Rude manager, terrible service, pretty good food. read more

The day I was there, there was a board offer roughly ten lunch specials. I chose the one of the lunch specials: a patty melt with fries. My order was taken quickly but a friendly waitress. She welcomed me and answered each of my questions. My order, while simple, was prepared and served quickly. The burger was cooked perfectly with ample amounts of grilled onions and white American cheese. The bread was a mild rye that tasted great. The fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. My lunch cost about seven bucks including tip. It is not fine dining, but The Lexington Grill served good food at a very reasonable price. read more

My wife and I went here for breakfast for the first time this morning. We were greeted and seated promptly. A pleasant waitress took our drink orders within a minute or so of us being seated. She came back within a few minutes with our drinks (coffee for my wife and water for me) and then took our food order. My wife ordered a veggie omelet (with a side of home fries) and I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese wrap. Our food was brought to the table in a timely manner. Each item was hot, tasty, and plentiful. Our waitress and another one checked back with us several times and refilled our drinks. Our "check" was left with us during one of these refill visits, so we didn't have to ask for it or wait for it.
