Their brownie sundae looked great, but the brownie was a bit crumbly and cake like, not very brownie, if that makes sense. The ice cream and chocolate sauce was delicious though. This restaurant In Clemmons came highly recommended by a friend friend. We were all tuned up for prime rib - arrived at 6:00 p.m. sharp on a Saturday night. We seated immediately, but at a dirty table in the corner and it was hot as blazes. There was water and salt all over the place. Obviously they had not cleaned from the previous occupant. Strike One! We asked for a different seat and were taken to a booth in the main dining room. The booth was a touch tight and the table wouldn't move. Turns out the seat had moved due to some heavyweights on the other side. They left shortly and we were able to reclaim some space. Our server arrived promptly and took our drink orders. She failed to mention the nightly specials (that were on a blackboard hidden by other customers waiting for a table. Turns out we would have ordered at least one of the specials. Again, we went because they have prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights. So we order prime rib, and immediately the server says we're out! Now remember this is 6 PM on Saturday night. Strike two! So we ordered some things from the menu, including a chicken risotto some chicken strips and a chicken flatbread pizza pit. Our food came rather quickly straight from the kitchen and really hot. That's the way it should be. So the risotto had great flavor however had way too many olives. Unfortunately, the olive taste overpowered the flavorful risotto and chicken. Johns flatbread pizza was good, and Carolyn's chicken strips with fries were good. We had salads. And to be honest, the raspberry vinaigrette dressing was among the best I've ever had. This place has so much potential. It's a nice pleasant atmosphere. They have a full service bar with a good selection of beer and wine and cocktails. But come on you're out of prime rib at 6 o'clock on a Saturday night! What's that about? Sounds like poor kitchen management to me. Our friend said the prime rib was really really good so chances are we will try it one more time but it could be three strikes and you're out! I scheduled brunch for 8 people at this restaurant and tavern and needed to change the count to 12...they happily made that change for us. A good first start to our experience. Upon arriving I noticed the parking lot was almost full so was happy I made the reservation beforehand because there were lots of people inside waiting for a table or sitting at the bar waiting for a Sunday brunch and/or lunch. We were seated at the back room in a more quiet place which is perfect for talking to friends without having to shout over a crowd of other diners. The server was prompt about tending to our needs and friendly. Which makes for a good experience for all. The menus were already on the table waiting for us upon arrival. Menus had a small selection of breakfast items which I had hoped for more items besides wraps, sandwiches, French toast but the bigger menu had lots of lunch choices. Everyone at our table seemed to find what they wanted. The waitress made sure to get our drink orders quickly served to us. The main entrees came out in about 15 mins, not that long a wait judging from all the diners besides our party. Everyone seemed happy w their food. I think the meals went off without a hitch. Came to 2520 for a nice dinner holiday celebration, and I was pleasantly surprised! They have 1/2 price wine nights...which is a definite plus, and their blackened chicken breast is a must try. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. Prices are good, but like I said, half priced wine night definitely helps with that. (3.5 stars) Anticipating a visit to Old Nick's afterward, our group of four sought a dinner option in the Clemmons/Lewisville area. 2520 moved toward the front of the line by virtue of not being a chain though the intriguing menu certainly bolstered its case as well. On food alone, 2520 offers the makings of an excellent meal, but the overall experience is mixed. Though 2520 is spacious, the restaurant was full when we arrived on a Saturday night. No worries: the wait was hardly unbearable. 2520 slots in somewhere between sit-down casual and fine dining, and the atmosphere - low-key classy - reflects that. As a seafood fan, I was pleased to see how many fish and seafood options 2520 had available. The appetizers alone boast calamari, muscles, Thai shrimp, and lobster nachos, and the entrees throw several fish dishes into the mix. For those less aquatically inclined, there are steaks, sandwiches, pastas, risottos, burgers, and salads. The menu is appealingly well-rounded though, oddly enough, cranberries feature in an inordinate number of dishes. Our group started with a fried calamari, my wife opted for the peppery goat burger, and I tried the stuffed flounder. The calamari came not with the classic marinara but rather with roasted red pepper, cranberries (removable upon request), candied pecans, parmesan, and a citrus herb vinaigrette. This version was lighter than others yet still flavorful, and the calamari were cooked well. The flounder was preceded by a generously sized salad (I opted for Caesar) and was very good. It came with a rich scampi cream sauce, to which tomatoes added a bright and tangy note. Asparagus proved to be a welcome complement. The burger, though messy, featured a very tasty pepper jelly. That said, 2520's pricing and service are both up-and-down. The appetizer ($12) and the burger ($12.50 with a side included) were definitely reasonable though at close to $30, the stuffed flounder was a bit of a reach. Our server was polite, but we ended up waiting for close to a half hour just to get our checks. From what I've gathered, "slow" is the default speed rather than the product of heavy volume. Were it not for these issues, I would gladly return to 2520. The food was good, and the menu holds plenty of promise. However, if I do come back, it would have to be on a day when I have time to spare. read more

Just moved back to area and have heard about this place quite a few times so I decided to check it out. Atmosphere was very laid back dim lit areas throughout the area perfect date night spot. The menu had something for everyone which I always take into consideration and find that as a plus. I started with the bread that they give you along with some compound butter which was phenomenal you don't see that to often. Following that was my side salad which seemed as if it was made very authentic very good. For the entree I went with the Salmon Piccata with the shrimp on top it was amazing with great flavor. It took nearly 10-15 minutes just to be greeted, no smile--just a rushed "What do you want?" We ordered the Lobster nachos. I think what they meant to call them was "corn and queso nachos" hardly any lobster and what was on there was teeny tiny flavorless pieces. Honestly, it felt like the staff couldn't care less. Between the awful service and the even worse food, I won't be coming back--and I'd suggest others steer clear too. 1 Star Not Worth the Drive or the Price I will not be returning to 2520 Tavern in Clemmons. The entire experience was a disappointment from start to finish. The food is completely overpriced for the level of service and the quality of what is served. I ordered my steak medium, and it came out bloody and extremely rare. The "loaded" mashed potatoes were inedible and tasted like straight garlic. On top of that, our party of 10 was crammed into a space clearly meant for 8 people at most. It was uncomfortable, chaotic, and honestly unacceptable for a restaurant at this price point. There are so many better options in the area where you can get great food, real service, and an experience that feels worth what you pay. 2520 Tavern missed the mark in every possible way. I recently visited 2520 in Clemmons and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots. From the moment I tried their bread and butter I was hooked. It's always a good sign when a restaurant nails the basics. Their menu offers an incredible variety of dishes at very affordable prices and everything I tried was delicious. I ordered the lobster nachos and mussels to start and both were absolutely fantastic. For my main course I had the bourbon steak and shrimp which was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Everyone at my table ordered something different such as domo arigato, seabass risotto, southwest mahi mahi, and the tavern burger and every plate was spot on. For dessert I indulged in the chocolate cake which I can't stop thinking about and is reason enough to go back. The service was top notch and our server was attentive, helpful, and friendly. The restaurant has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and there is a spacious bar area as well. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion (like we did), or need a quick polished takeout food it is sure to be delicious! It is a great place for business or family dining. This is one of the few upscale restaurants available for lunch in the Clemmons area, and it is has been family operated for over 40 years in this spot. The interior is attractive with low lightning, with soft music in the background, adding to the overall calm ambiance. I ordered the Chopped Steak with a side of Mashed Potatoes, with Onion Ribbons to begin the meal. And since the Tuesday drink special was $2.50 draft beers, I ordered a Fat Tire. The food was across the board, very good. The Onion Ribbons ($9) were well cooked, and taken to another level by the Spicy Ketchup and the house Horseradish Sauce. The chopped steak was at least 8 ounces, well seasoned and nicely cooked to medium. The grilled pepper, onions, and mushrooms were also nicely done, with a good amount of texture and freshness. The Mashed potatoes were great, full bodied and well seasoned. All in all this was a nice meal in most respects but falls short in the area of value. The chopped steak was $13.50, no bargain there when there are equal items at WestTown (8oz, 2 sides for $9), Pete's (8oz, 2,sides for $9.15)and 801 (8 oz, 2 sides, for $10), among others! The other down side of the value issue is that they charge a 3% "Operational" surcharge on ALL tickets, regardless of what was ordered or how the amount was paid!!! The surcharge is due to "rapid" increase in inflation, even though inflation has been in the decline for months now! Since I face the same inflation aspects, I do what I always do with such onerous, arbitrary charges - I reduce any tip (based on the pretax amount only) by the surcharge amount raised to the next whole dollar amount. I will not be bullied by such tactics, I have many other options available that are much more reasonably priced even BEFORE such a surcharge. Doubt there will be any need for a return visit! Absolutely LOVE this place. We've been here countless times and the one thing I have to note is their consistency. It's always clean, the staff is always great, and everything we have ordered we have loved. They get super busy at peak times so I recommend coming a little earlier on a Sunday if you can. Sometimes the parking lot is completely packed but it's still worth the wait. One of my favorite menu items is the Southwest Mahi Mahi. I have to force myself to try something different and not order the same thing every time because it's that good. The Tuna Tostada appetizer is a MUST try. Let me start by saying the staff is amazing. We sat at the bar and had the onion straw starters which were insane with two great sauces. Then the fancy beef tenderloin dish that my wife ordered arrived and it wasn't beef tenderloin, but very tough and grissly beef tips. The rest of the dish was amazing, but the beef was so tough that she literally had to spit out every bite before finally just giving up. We have heard from numerous people since moving to the area that we need to check out the 2520 Tavern. It also gets very good reviews and is close to our house, a win-win! We previously tried to stop in one Friday evening not long ago and the parking lot and restaurant were packed about 6pm. We waited a bit and checked out bar seating availability but eventually went somewhere else. This past Sunday we were talking about places and thought we would check it out again. It was about 4pm when we arrived, the parking lot was pretty empty and it was not very busy. There were a few tables seated when we arrived as well as a few bar seats occupied. We decided to grab two seats at the bar. The bartender quickly took our drink orders. I decided to try a local beer because they are $3 on Sunday, which I appreciated! We perused the menu and my wife decided on the steak salad and I ordered the Prime Rib Philly Sandwich special with fries. The atmosphere is relaxing and seems well taken care of. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked yummy. My wife really enjoyed her salad and said it was something she would definitely order again.
