Perfect spot for a girls night dinner. We came on Friday at 7pm and we're seated at a half booth/chairs section. We were a party of 7. This is in the heart of downtown Winston so parking is pretty limited but there are street spots and garages nearby. Service was good, prompt and friendly. We enjoyed a variety of cocktails and wines for beverages. Entree orders included steaks/filets, gnocchi and the fried chicken. The courses were paced nicely, giving us time to savor each bite and engage in great conversation. I really liked the Caesar salad with the fried artichoke and my filet was cooked medium as requested. The Mac and cheese side was delicious too, thick cheesy and super satisfying. I had some of my friends charred Brussels sprouts too and those were tasty as well. All in all, we were all happy with this pick! A very lovely evening at Jeffrey Adams on Fourth. Arrived just in time for our reservation and they immediately seated us. A friendly server brought us water and we were able to order drinks and appetizers. The restaurant on the ground floor was not large but it was very nice looking and modern. There is an upstairs that we didn't see. The waiting area is large which is nice because I imagine at time there is a wait. It is an upscale place though you saw a variety in patrons there. Anyway, we ordered the pot roast nachos and a cup of the soup du jour which came very quickly. Both were excellent and a great start to the meal. Someone decided to bring us bread that we didn't order which was nice. It was probably a good thing the server spilled the water at our table and gave us the bread for free since we didn't order it. again, anyway, the entrees came and they looked good. Seafood risotto was cooked well, not over done. And there was a lot of it. The fried chicken was also nicely cooked. Both were under seasoned and needed salt which is not my favorite when in a restaurant such as this. However, it is also understandable. My wife and I have been going here for years. Always enjoyed the food, and atmosphere. Recently though, the experience has changed. The people are still great! Very friendly. However, with their increasing prices, smaller servings and limited beverage (read beer) selection, this location does not appear to offer the same experience. I ordered the beef tenderloin risotto. I have been getting this dish for years. The serving of the meal was much smaller and included only 4 bites of beef. All that for a more expensive meal. I hadn't been to Jeffrey Adams in years because, honestly, the food quality had declined from when I first started dining here. But their social media caught my attention recently, and I decided to give it another try. Unbeknownst to me, they switched to an à la carte menu within the last six weeks. We ordered the ribeye, chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts. The chicken breast was flavorful, but at $23 for just one piece, the price doesn't quite match the portion or quality. My ribeye initially came out cold, but the bartender was quick to correct it. The food itself was tasty, but I can't say I'm embracing the new à la carte approach. When you know you can walk to nearby restaurants and get a full meal (sides included) for about the same price, it's hard to justify. On the positive side, I love that they offer mocktails. The restaurant was clean, and the service was excellent. If they're going to stick with the à la carte model, I think making the sides shareable would go a long way toward making guests feel like they're getting more value. read more

We brought some friends for dinner here on Saturday evening and it wasn't too crowded. Parking can be found on the street or in a garage a block away. We decided to bring a bottle of wine since we know our wines and restaurants mark up the cost by a lot, the corkage fee at the time of our visit was $15. Since they are known for the steak, I got the 14 oz ribeye and baked potato, plus started with the soup of the day (cup) the soup of the day, a creamy chorizo potato I should have gone for the bowl since the cup was too small and the soup too good. My steak was okay and I should have gotten it rare instead of medium. The potato was supposed to be "loaded", but it didn't seem to be anything extra and a bit on the tough side. My wife got the ahi tuna appetizer which I tried and it was excellent, with a slight tang of the Yuzu sauce they had on it, since I tried it I can write about it. One thing that was slightly off was the server didn't clear our appetizers and the other server assisting was putting the main plates on the table. Cozy steak house with friendly service. We brought some friends tonight and even brought our own wine for $15 corkage fee. My husband and our friends ordered ribeye and baked potato. My husband got the soup of the day which was a special chorizo potato creamy deliciousness. He regretted not getting the bowl for an extra $3, he said it was so good and their "cup" size is pretty dinky. We started off with a bread basket which came with warm butter. The rolls were warm and super soft. A little on the sweet side for me. I got the ahi tuna appetizer plate as an entree because I love ahi tuna and it was a big portion. It had pickled ginger and Asian slaw with wasabi dots. Perfect sear ! I loved it. The house salad is a good portion, healthy greens in it, and great dressing options to choose from. I got the herb vinaigrette. Only small complaint my husband and friends had was their big baked potato was not totally tender, a bit under done. Very surprising for a steak house. We came here on a Saturday as a party of 2. I had put in a reservation about an hour and half earlier online for 5:30. When we arrived, I realized that we did not need a reservation. The host took us to the second level to sit down. When our waitress arrived, she came with water which I appreciated. Then asked us if we wanted anything else to drink. I ordered the sweet tea and it was well made. For dinner, I ordered the burger and sweet potato fries. I had the tomato taken off and the pimento cheese on the side. When the food arrived, I ended up really liking the pimento cheese and added it the burger. I took off the lettuce as they were the yellow pieces and very limp. I would suggest fresher pieces of lettuce. The burger overall was yummy, especially the bacon and onions. The burger patty was cooked more on the well cooked side rather than medium. The sweet potato fries were great with the honey mustard. My husband ordered the 8oz filet with the Gouda Mac and cheese. His filet was cooked more medium, rather than medium. The bride and I had Valentines dinner here, first time for us here. Got a reservation at 5, arrived a little early. Thought we might have to wait a few minutes, but were seated immediately. The service was very attentive, explained the specials. We had the bread basket as an appetizer which was nice as it had 4 different breads and a really good butter. The Mrs chose grouper with sweet potatoes and I had the filet with a baked potato & rice. She said everything she had was fantastic, and mine was very good as well. While my filet was not the best cut I've ever had, but the seasoning & sear of it made up for it. The potato was huge, the rice was not a favorite. It should have been offered as a smaller dish, maybe as a side or appetizer, but it wasn't my favorite as a 'meal'... husband enjoyed his steak and lobster. Caesar salad was amazing. The fried artichoke was different but a nice addition. I didn't get a picture of the bread, but we ordered the bread and butter appetizer and it was awesome tasting all the different types of bread. Finally had a chance to check out Jeffrey Adams on Fourth and it was great! My friend and I made reservations for a Saturday evening but decided to sit at the bar. It was laidback and our bartender was wonderful. We each had a cocktail as recommended by the bartender (I believe his creation) and it was tasty! For dinner, we split the Smoked Bacon and Crab dip which was divine! I ordered the Seafood Risotto and my friend the Grouper. The portions are large and every bite I had was delicious. Sharing this from my comments on Winston Salem Eats on FB because if i sit down and write this all over again I am going to absolutely blow a gasket reliving this absolutely horrible experience. I would also encourage anyone on FB to go check out Winston Salem Eats, see me comments and read the additional comments from other patrons who have had equally horrible experiences. I have no idea if this will even be put here on the reviews because I dan not believe this place has 4 plus stars. Its not ven deserving of a 1 star but here goes: March 15th was our 40th wedding anniversary and we specifically picked Jeffrey Adams because in the past we have had good meals, the ambiance is quiet, decor is always nice and, again, it was our 40th wedding anniversary. I specifically noted this when making our reservation on Open Table expecting at least an " oh wow I see it's your anniversary, 40 yrs that's absolutely amazing " or some sort of acknowledgment to that effect. That 15-30 second pleasantry would have gone a long way in our feelings of the evening. Absolutely nothing the entire evening!!!! Not a word mentioned that I had noted this on our reservation. I wanted my wife to know how special this was as she was happy to find I had reserved us a table. Well we get jammed into a booth with 10 inches of clearance to sit in that I had to say to the person seating I thought I had requested a table with my reservation. We were told we would have to wait then and I said no problem we are early anyway we will go to the bar. Wife ordered her drink and I ordered a Bloody Mary only to be told they don't serve Bloody Marys and they haven't for years. Ok I won't argue the point, but who in the hades doesnt serve a Bloody Mary? I'm trying to salvage an already crappy evening that's going down hill fast so I ordered my stand by cocktail, an old fashioned. Bartender actually muddled the cocktail as it should be so that was a plus and at that point a table opened in the bar area. We ordered crab dip appetizer that did rival, if not surpassed, Village Taverns crab dip of recent visits. I would suggest more baguette slices with the crab dip as I finished it with the celery sticks. I guess celery sticks are a lot cheaper than a toasted baguette slices. We both ordered steak, she ordered the smaller cut I got the bigger bone in cut. Both were cooked right but the quality of meat for a $35 (?) and $45 steak was just not there. Both were very poor quality. No sides no salad, you have to order those extra. $4 baked potato for her I asked for the grilled asparagus but instead got the refrigerated asparagus, literally. It was still refrigerator cold but the balsamic vinegar the bartender found for me helped. Wife's baked potato was fine and the bartender kept our cocktails fresh but over all I'd say $175 app, dinner and cocktails was not worth it at all. Dine at your peril. On a side note I will say Cheesecake by Alex was a nice salvage. No photos because as i told my wife the food wasnt even photo worthy. Let's just say that if you dine just imagine you are going to the craps table in Vegas and it will be a roll of the dice whether you roll a 7 or you crap out. read more

A group of my girlfriends and I went for an early dinner this past week and the service was a 12/10. The apps were delicious, my favorite being the ahi tuna and the mushroom and artichoke dip. I got the steak and got Mac and Brussels. The steak was a bit tough but the sides were delicious. My friends drinks were unique and beautiful but I can't speak on the flavor. A second trip to Jeffrey Adams and I saw my favorite team member there and she made us feel right at home. Listen intently to what I have to say...I had a giant holiday meal at lunch. I was NOT hungry. But since last week, I was aching to go back. The ambiance in this place is top notch. The decor is great...the lighting is perfect....the staff wonderful. And there is even a sense of connectedness amongst the patrons... Kinda like we know how special the place is and we all feel like we're in the secret club by being there. Tuesday night is wine night so everything is half priced ... the wine, that is. I was too full for an appetizer. But just a look at the appetizer menu, and I saw at least three or four things that I wanted. Instead, I opted for the fried chicken as an entrée. The guy at the table near us ordered the same thing. After a brief wait, the chicken came out. I can immediately tell that it was freshly made. Often at gourmet restaurants, the portions are not sufficient. This one provided just the right amount of food. I was pleasantly surprised. The presentation was superb. They say that we often eat with her eyes first. My eyes feasted on both the plate in front of me and the plate of my dinner partner. She had the maple bourbon salmon, and said that it was expertly cooked to her request. The chicken was smothered in a very tasty gravy and underneath it was superbly crispy with the right proportion of batter to meat. The mashed potatoes were seasoned to perfection and the veggies had great flavor also. I could tell that this chef knew what they were doing. So, Jeff Adams is two for two. My wife and I visited last night for our first wedding anniversary, and when I say it was delicious, it was delicious! She had the grilled duck and I had a New York Strip steak. Both were cooked well. My wife's duck was a bit chewy, but that was my fault because she'd never had duck and I assumed she wouldn't like med-rare. The service was great and everyone attentive and friendly. The hostess even obliged our request for a picture before we left! Thanks ya'll, for making our anniversary a memorable one. Nice modern decor inside and I love they have a upstairs that has a bar and seating too. We sat up there ! Nice quiet comfortable vibe and we had a great server. Very attentive. Drinks on Thursday they have a special for $8 on all menu signature and classic cocktails. So we had a apple martini and I had the Manhattan . Both excellent and made exactly how we requested. The bread basket is really good with a variety of different rolls. I opted for the ahi tuna appetizer for my entree and it was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Perfectly rare. With a delicious seaweed salad and Asian coleslaw . This was the perfect amount too after a round of bread ! My eating for two friend had the filet and baked potato and said it was perfect too. Cooked like she asked. I also had a side of mashed potatoes which was just a craving ! But oh so good with the red skin and real potato lumps. Good and buttery. The apple crisp was out shareable dessert . Wow steaming hot and such a nice crunchy crisp and lots of apple with real figs inside and a nice creamy vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. It's official, this is my Go-To restaurant in Winston Salem. They consistently deliver great food via fantastic service. The inside is always clean and decor is fantastic with great views into the street. Last night I had the 8oz filet cooked Medium Rare and it was perfectly prepared with great flavor. As a side I had the veggie medley whiz h was incredible and differed significantly from the traditional soggy broccoli and carrots you get at other restaurants. Also had a side of the smoked Mac and cheese, again outstanding. Great wine list as well. I have also had their salmon which is the best Winston Salem has to offer. Prices keep going up, foo quality / quantity keeps going down. Discovered their burger 2 years ago and thought it was one of the best deals in Winston. High quality for a decent price. Went last week and they have raised the price to $19. Quality was horrible and they got rid of the side of fries being included- it's now $4.50 to add those. Will not be coming back. read more

First off the 80s music playing while we dined was amazing! This restaurant is very elegantly designed with a mix modern and old world styles, you are definitely put in a very elegant and date night mood. They have a great alcohol selection ranging from wine and beer to great cocktails and mock tails, but they also have the option for a liqueur flight which I thought was awesome. The service was impeccable complete with a wine presentation. I had the New York strip topped with a Béarnaise sauce with mashed potatoes and the smoked gouda Mac and cheese, which were all cooked to perfection and finished with their chocolate creme Brule. I didn't find anything special about their food. The salmon, Mac and cheese and a salad. Salmon wasn't seasoned just grilled tossed on the plate. Looked boring. All the sides are à la carte over priced for what they are. I don't drink alcohol, so I ordered ginger ale, and the waitress kept pushing water, and not offering to refill my ginger ale I finally just gave up and drank water. The server who brought out my food basically slammed it down on the table didn't speak. It wasn't worth the hassle of finding parking. We skipped desert went to get donuts instead. The wine list was very well priced too. The starters -- pot roast nachos and bacon crab dip -- were disappointing. The short rib special was inconsistently poorly cooked. Mine was super dry and overcooked yet not tender. My friend's was undercooked. The foraged mushrooms were like wood. The burger is incredible but get it undercooked. The pimento cheese was the best thing I ate next to the Mac and cheese. I heard good things about both fish dishes. I might try it again but I'd only get things with cheese. read more
