Met a former colleague here for dinner on a weeknight. I've dined here before on a couple of occasions, but it appears I've never posted a review so here goes. I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner. read more

We came with the family for Mother's Day for the first time and really enjoyed it! The reviews and pics looked great so we decided to try it. Here's what we thought: **Goat Cheese Butternut Squash Ravioli** Delicious but my Dad thought it was a little rich. The couple of bites I tried were excellent! The chicken was moist and well seasoned. **Moroccan BBQ Pork Chop** This was the best pork chop I've ever had. Moms agreed! Dad wished he had gotten the pork chop! This was his favorite out of the three meals we tried! **Prime Rib** I had to go all in and got the 12oz. It's the best prime rib I've had in years! They serve it with au jus and creamy horseradish. That creamy horseradish is exactly the way I like it, the au jus was a nice addition and the steak was cooked perfectly! I will definitely order again! This was my favorite out of the three entrees we tried. **Crispy Brussels Sprouts** We weren't as thrilled about these as everyone else. I thought they were dry and needed something more. Maybe they didn't add enough jam and/or balsamic this time? **Chorizo Potato Soup** Very nice! The sausage wasn't too overpowering and I like the creamy broth. This restaurant was such a great experience! It has a nice, slightly upscale vibe that's perfect for a romantic date night, a dinner with friends, or even a larger group. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable without feeling stuffy. The food was excellent quality. I ordered the pork chop, and it was easily a 10/10 perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Brussels sprouts were amazing as well and complemented the dish so well. The staff was friendly and attentive, which really added to the overall experience. We had a great time and truly enjoyed everything from start to finish. Definitely a spot I'd recommend and would happily return to! read more

First time at this restaurant and it was very enjoyable! Went there for dinner with a total of 8 other adults. Service was prompt and the meals we ordered were quite good. The weather cooperated, so we ate in the outdoor patio area, which was quite comfortable. Other than walking thru the interior of the restaurant to get to our table, we didn't have the opportunity to experience the inside of this facility. Good choices on the menu at what I felt were reasonable prices. If we're in this area again, I would most definitely go back. read more

We went to the River Birch Lodge for a friend's 60th anniversary. We had a party of 12 so luckily our friends children were on their A game and had a private room reserved. We were both impressed with the decor as soon as we went in.The hostess led us to our party. She was very polite. the waitress was already taking the drink order as we were sitting down. I thought it was good timing. Most of us choose some kind of steak and salad and two chose chicken. One of our party of all things is a known steak place asked for chicken tenders.My wife and I both sorta looked at each other but it was their choice.Our salads arrived in good time. I can't speak for the other guests in our party but my ribeye was very good and cooked to perfection. We never wanted for a thing. Our service was excellent as was the atmosphere and the food. I did notice one of the grandkids to the celebrating couple had one of River Burch Lodges Burgers and it was a good size portion and looked great. We enjoyed our meal and time with our friends. The waitress did take a piece of the anniversary cake. Our experience definitely was pleasant and one thing I forgot to mention was one of the party had chosen ribs and I got a taste. Very good. Our first visit, we had heard this was a great place for a night out. We made reservations & seated right away at the table in front of the fireplace; the ambiance is just as if you are sitting in a beautiful mountain lodge. Great menu, burgers to steaks, sandwiches & seafood, prices reasonable. We ordered the chefs special soup: crab & crawfish gumbo (just ok) & garden salads (delicious). The goat cheese peppercorn dressing was new to me & I loved it. The servers were busy, but we never had to ask for refills, they were always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We ordered our entrees: the prime rib, the Moroccan bbq pork chop, the very berry salmon salad & the special rib eye pork chop. It was a busy Saturday night (but I get the impression it is always packed) but they were served timely, hot and cooked perfectly. The Moroccan pork chop was exquisite, I will come back for that again! The crispy brussel sprouts served with entrees were the best! We indulged in dessert: pound cake w/fruit drizzle, chocolate chocolate cake & warm banana pudding w/baked meringue on top - both delicious! So glad we made it here, would recommend making a reservation when possible, the wait was 30+ minutes when we were leaving & the entry area was packed! This one is a keeper! read more

Always enjoy dining at the River Birch Lodge. Today here is part of our financial seminar and they had a limited menu, chose the salmon and was very pleased. Everything was so so flavorful, surprisingly so in a great way for the sauteed vegetables. But eating the pureed sweet potatoes is pure heaven. Really enjoyed chatting it up with the lady bartender. If memory serves me she had a Butterfly Tattoo which is symbolic of my departed Mother. Anyway the lady was from Eastern Europe, I am thinking Ukrainian??? Anyways such good energy and ease of conversation. Sat with apparently some regulars. So you know the place is good. Also made a great OLD FASHIONED. Perfection. Plus the decor and atmosphere of this large floorplan space [restaurant and bar] is manly and just vibes with me and apparently many others. read more

What a great experience! Our son has a gluten allergy, and River Birch Lodge has a full Gluten free menu! Super impressive! My wife and I had some super-nice specialty cocktails. I had the Smoked Salmon pizza, and the flavor melange was amazing!! Our waitress (Cecelia) was equally amazing. So amazing when a restaurant has great food and great staff! I've been meaning to come here for awhile now - I missed a work dinner hosted here a few months ago and I heard great things, so I moved it up on my list. I made a reservation for 4 people at 5:45pm on Thursday, just a holiday dinner/catch up with a few friends. I don't go to Robinhood Rd a lot because it's a bit far from downtown, but there does seem to be a lot of great stuff out this way (Lowes, Fresh Market, YMCA etc). Parking here is pretty tight, I fortunately found a spot but a couple others had to park in the Lowe's lot. We were seated in the main dining room at a booth. It's pretty standard design and decor inside, a few unique choice pieces of wall art, but probably not my favorite style overall (warmer and cozier but not necessarily chic). Our waitress was prompt with menus, drinks, and orders. They have a pretty standard fare- pizza, pastas, burgers, apps, and a decent selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. I opted for a tangerine juice based mezcal cocktail while my other friends got a glass of red wine and an old fashioned. We were a bit disappointed with the flavor - my drink was way too juice forward, and my friend described her wine as "cheap" tasting, but it was a generous pour. Food wise, we had some vegetarian pasta, chicken and aspargus, salmon, and the river birch pasta. I don't think anyone was super impressed with their dish, nothing was bad though. It just wasn't as great as it had been hyped up to be. It was a pleasant enough environment and experience though, I wouldn't be opposed to returning to try another dish and definitely stick with a beer or wine - the cocktails need a little work! read more

This is one of my favorite places to come to when we want to have a nice dinner out. The atmosphere is very cozy, with a fireplace and beautiful chandelier, but with the slightest upscale feel to it so you can dress up a little without feeling out of place. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. We were seated right away despite it being peak dinner time. Upon check-in, we received an offer for a free basket of chips! It comes with a mix of regular and sweet potatoes, which is something different. They are tasty, however very crunchy. I'm one of those people who likes the chips that are still a little soft, but I may be weird for that. It comes with two different types of dips, although neither was my favorite. I would prefer just a plain ranch. For a drink, I had the violet crush. It's delicious and the presentation is cute too! Just the right amount of sweetness. My entree was the French Dip Panini. It was piping hot and soooo delicious. Especially the dip! The fries were lacking flavor and excitement for me and once again I just wanted a plain ranch for dipping but they only have the cilantro lime flavor. There are plenty of reasons to stop in for lunch or dinner or just a drink at the bar! I have yet to come in for brunch, but it's on my list! read more

Came here on a work luncheon and this place has been by far the best choice in all of our luncheons. The service was amazing and very attentive. The restaurant is large with adequate seating inside as well as some seating outside and gives off a cabin atmosphere. For lunch I chose the RBL burger with a side of their lodge chips. This burger was absolutely delicious with the caramelized onions, blue cheese, bacon and blackberry jam - not to mention cooked to perfection. Definitely a 10/10 in my book! read more

This place is cool with its mountain vibe in the city. The staff were great. When our food was ready, 3 people brought our food out to help our waitress so we got it all together. Went to dine on New Years Day with my family. The restaurant was slightly busy upon arrival but slowly began to clear out as it was a little later in the evening. Our server Cici was amazing. She was kind, genuine and did a fabulous job! Everything was great until the management staff began frantically moving about the restaurant trying to remove the Christmas decorations. One would have thought it was a matter of life and death with how swiftly this was being done. Normally it would have not been something to bat an eye about until the 14 foot ladder made its way from the back of the restaurant to the middle of the main dining room where guests were still trying to enjoy their meals. Our server was the one who saw our looks and immediately apologized for the spectacle that was taking place steps from our table. The manager later came over to check on our food and overall experience and seemed surprised when we mentioned the complete disregard for guests with removing the Christmas decorations in that moment. I understand the Holiday's have now past but was it really THAT crucial to remove the decorations right then? It was very poor taste and honestly kind of ruined an overall nice evening to celebrate the start of the New Year. The restaurant closed at 9pm, you couldn't have waited for guests to leave? My wife and I came here for an "inexpensive " Sunday afternoon lunch. We were quickly seated because it was mostly empty. Our server, Alison, was friendly and we got the check-in offer of Lodge chips. The chips came with two sauces and were fairly good. The music playing here was good, but way too loud for a Sunday afternoon and we had challenges hearing each other. I ordered the Robinhood chicken wrap and a side of slaw, my wife got the black bean wrap and side of slaw. My wrap was okay but since it was halved we swapped. The bean wrap was strange and without flavor. The slaw was in a bowl and had the cabbage pieces too large for that size of dish. The bill with the wraps and two ice teas was just over $45, so not inexpensive and not worth that price. read more

Mediocre experience. Ordered the black bean wrap and it had giant pieces of onion in it. I posted a picture below for your viewing pleasure. The wrap didn't have much taste, and could have used a spicy sauce on the side or something. My coleslaw also had giant pieces of lettuce in it drenched in what seemed like thousand Island dressing. My husband swapped half of his wrap with mine. The chicken in his had a smokey wood barbecue flavor which I enjoyed, but the wilted spinach made it a little weird. Our waitress was very nice though. First the good: this is a pleasant setting for conversation with friends. During warmer months the covered patio is very comfortable with heaters and fans as needed. The service is always professional and fast. The menu is very diverse with something for everyone. For these reasons we are lucky to have this place in our neighborhood. The only downside is the food is just ok. Nothing is ever great. But we'll keep coming back for all the positives. read more

RBL has lost a bit of its shine in my last few visits there. Take, for instance, the latest round of eggs Nova Scotia I got there. It was quite difficult to taste the salmon because there was so little of it included in the dish. The yolks of the eggs seemed tiny, so there was no golden goodness to sop up with my slices of English muffin. In short, the quality of the food seems to be slipping. Thankfully, the place still feels the same: clean, welcoming, and pleasant. Service is still pretty solid too, though my food was slow to arrive. read more

My friend got a veggie platter and I got to try her roasted brussels sprouts and they were AMAZING! Roasted with the perfect amount of crunch. Wonderful place for a date night. They have it decorated like a smoky mountain cabin, with fishing gear and skis and a big fireplace. MOst importantly, the food is outstanding. I had the RBL Burger, the blackberry jam is a creative touch that tasted great, and my fries (the ultimate test for me) were crisp and fresh. Husband had a steak and he said it was perfect. And we were very well taken care of by the wait staff. I want to go back as soon as possible! read more

We arrived Sunday evening about 6:45. It was very busy in the bar area. It took us a while to get someone to take our order but once they did-we had our cocktails and food within 10 minutes. Yum! This was a delightful experience, including excellent service and delicious food all around. The restaurant is a bit noisy. The staff did a thorough job in meeting the gluten-free needs of some members of our group, including giving them a special menu and making sure everything was made separate. The glazed salmon was so good! The lasagna was recommended and worthwhile. Now for dessert, I was smiling with the crème brûlée! Definitely get the recommended items... yum! read more

We called ahead on a Saturday to try to make reservations assuming it would be busy. We were told they don't do same day reservations after 4pm. It was 415, damn. The worker said checked the reservations and said there were several tables not reserved for our time slot so the wait may not be long then. We arrived at about 620pm and were actually seated immediately. There was a fair amount of people in the restaurant at this point but not too busy. By the time we left it seemed to be packed with several parties waiting for a table. The lighting and decorations are cool to check out while you're waiting as well. They have a fireplace that we were seated next to. I was slightly disappointed it wasn't lit since we were at one of the best tables to enjoy it. We checked in and were granted a free house chips appetizer. Chips came out with the peppercorn and avocado ranch and I loved both. I decided to go for the special orange ginger bbq salmon and shrimp which came with like a mango salsa and asparagus. The shrimp and salmon were both cooked perfectly and the glaze was fantastic. The mango salsa taken with a bite of the salmon and the shrimp was an amazing combination of flavors that slapped me across the face repeatedly, in a good way. The asparagus was also seasoned and cooked well, not hard but not mushy. My only complaint was that I felt like it needed a grain or starch of sort, like a jasmine rice to complete the dish.
