    Spinach Salad
    Talesha C.

We came here on a Monday night around 6:30pm. Our server was great and the restaurant was busy. Every table was full and not a seat at the bar was empty. We started with the spinach salad and the ginger beef steamed bao buns. The spinach salad was really good with the vinaigrette. I loved that they chopped the spinach into smaller pieces. The bacon was a nice add to it as well. The bao buns were dry, but the beef inside was good with the aioli and cucumber slaw. The seared Atlantic salmon was overcooked. The roasted carrot mash and wild Berry rosemary compote made it more palatable. The pot roast was exquisite. It was moist, soft, well-seasoned and delicious.

Had lunch here recently. We were greeted walking in and sat at the window by the Koi pond. Our server who was professional and friendly brought us menus and waters. After giving the menu a good look, I opted for the Rueben sandwich on rye bread with potato salad with a fountain gingerale. The sando was tasty and well made, the potato salad though small was very good as well. All in all a good lunch. Had the Chocolate cake with whipped cream for dessert, it was just okay. Actually on the dry side. It looked better than it tasted and did not match the sandwiches quality. Still a decent lunch, should of passed on the cake. 3.5 Stars rounded up for the staff 01194

I believe the experience here is phenomenal. When you first walk in it's a very home-y feel. The food is delicious and came out very timely. The staff are very friendly and ask if you need anything. Even asked if we wanted to-go waters! (Very thoughtful!) If you're looking for good food, nice atmosphere and very decent prices.. definitely come here!

Service was meh. We're tourist and we went with a group. I went to a nearby cafe and had a drink in my hand trying to finish it. I went in and there was no "hello", no "good afternoon", just a firm "no outside drinks allowed". After she changed her tone, the experience got better. The server was good too but felt like she was in a rush and her ADHD gave me anxiety. I thought this was a cafe, but it's more of a diner style location. Aside from that, the food was good. I got a pink lemonade that was pretty good. I also got a hoagie with ground beef that in my opinion, was AMAZING but kind of salty. The fries... get the fries! The fries were amazing.

Went for the first time on a date night and had a wonderful time! High end food without too much snobbery involved. Everything we ate was delicious, but I would especially recommend the kimchi mac and cheese. That was a winner! Cassandra was our server too, and she was quite friendly and attentive. To be fair, she's clearly aware her job is to upsell and get a bigger tip, and she's quite good at it. We loved the koi pond out front, and while the inside can be somewhat cramped when busy, the wait for the two of us to be seated wasn't long at all. Great place for a date night!

Some days what you planned and what God had in store for you are different things, and it turns out exactly right. I had an odd hour between events which is enough time for a real meal instead of a fast food grab and go, and I knew West End Cafe would have quick turnaround in the kitchen and a solid meal. But when I get takeaway from them I lean towards a po'boy and fries, always good even with the lag to eat later, and today I just wasn't quite there. So I pulled up a barstool and asked for a recommendation; the bartender listed some favorites in each section (leading with the reuben, which is my former boss's fave; I know that's a solid pick too). Today I decided to go with shrimp and grits, subbing in fried oysters for the shrimp, because you seize the opportunity when you can. It came out beautiful and piping hot, and I was so excited for it! Then immediately downcast to experience what I'm going to call grits of the north. (Never trust grits above the Mason-Dixon line unless you know the chef personally.) I sent it back as "still cornmeal, not grits yet", and got profuse apologies, confirmation from the bartender that yes, the grits were indeed undercooked, and in light of that, would I like something different instead? I went with another of his recs, the pretzels crusted salmon salad, which when it arrived was, as I led in this note, exactly what I didn't know I wanted. And in the waiting for the reorder to land, I was given some fried oysters in the tasso ham sauce that would have topped the grits. While, not what I started with, so much better.

I really enjoyed my visit. It has been a while since I went somewhere and cleaned my plate. The fish sandwich was really good. The fish was good quality, lightly breaded and topped with fresh lettuce and tomato. The tartar sauce really paired well. I thought it could use a little bit more seasoning on the fish, but I was satisfied with my meal. The pasta salad complimented the sandwich very well. I wish I had more than the small cup. The red zinger tea was really good. It doesn't have sugar, but that's exactly how I like it. The super friendly and attentive waitress asked if we wanted dessert. I asked for the chocolate cake. Yum! Yum! So good! I will definitely return.

You can't go wrong with anything you pick out from their menu. Everything is so delicious, and it's one of those places where I always feel like trying something new, and I know it's going to be delicious. The service is very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has that neighborhood vibe where everyone knows each other, making it a welcoming experience.

West end cafe should be a restaurant rotation staple for everyone in Winston! They have a clean and classically decorated restaurant with very friendly staff and a good variety on the menu. Their sandwiches are a favorite for me and they have so many good options from the steak sandwich to fantastic cold subs. You can't go wrong at West End Cafe!

We had an impromptu lunch at West End Cafe and it was the perfect lunch spot! I love that they have over 20 different sandwiches on their menu to choose from, both hot and cold. Every also have salads and soups to go with your Sammy! I got the Italian sub hot with pasta salad and it was everything you'd want in a sandwich and more. Thick slices of meat with creamy pasta - YES! I highly recommend these guys for lunch and I'm itching to go back and try other menu items!

The atmosphere was warm, sophisticated, and causal all at the same time. The dim lights created a nice ambiance without being so dark that you can't see. The dining room offers a mix of traditional tables, semi-private booths and a bar area. They also have a private room available. The bathroom was very clean and even smelled fresh. They had a good mix of music and a television is available at the bar. Now for the really important stuff. The food was absolutely amazing! I tried the Moravian cookie-pecan crusted salmon with collard greens, zucchini. The meal was a nice size and tasted amazing. I ate every bite. For dessert, we tried the White chocolate-almond bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. I'm usually not a bread pudding kinda girl, but this was the exception. I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.

Here's what we thought: **Goat Cheese Butternut Squash Ravioli** Delicious but my Dad thought it was a little rich. The couple of bites I tried were excellent! The chicken was moist and well seasoned. **Moroccan BBQ Pork Chop** This was the best pork chop I've ever had. Moms agreed! Dad wished he had gotten the pork chop! This was his favorite out of the three meals we tried! **Prime Rib** I had to go all in and got the 12oz. It's the best prime rib I've had in years! They serve it with au jus and creamy horseradish. That creamy horseradish is exactly the way I like it, the au jus was a nice addition and the steak was cooked perfectly! I will definitely order again! This was my favorite out of the three entrees we tried. **Crispy Brussels Sprouts** We weren't as thrilled about these as everyone else. I thought they were dry and needed something more. Maybe they didn't add enough jam and/or balsamic this time? **Chorizo Potato Soup** Very nice! The sausage wasn't too overpowering and I like the creamy broth. Different than anything I've ever had but good.

There was a 20 min wait and we were starving after a long travel day and eager to get to campus so we ate at the mediocre crepes restaurant next door instead. When we picked her up a week later I was prepared with reservations. However, when we checked in they told us they don't take reservations so it must be for their sister restaurant (oops) and the wait was even longer this time. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. We were in and out within 30 minutes, which I appreciated since we had a drive to Chapel Hill ahead of us. Overall, it was a solid meal and I'm guessing a favorite for those affiliated with the campus.

No other way to describe it. I also loved the fact they served it with warm and toasted bread pieces.....added another depth of flavor to the entire bite. Entire thing was filled with crab meat as well. I'm used moreso to the chunkier style of crab dip, if that makes any sense, but whatever they did to theirs passed my test. For our entrees, we both opted for burgers. I've been waiting something that isn't a smash burger for quite sometime. No disrespect to smash burgers, but I've been wanting a thick, hand patted burger and they delivered. I ordered the tavern burger with the medium cook and a side of fries. Burger cook was perfect. One thing I loved was that the actual patty had char marks on it & it added more flavor to it. Very juicy and flavorful. Their fries were solid too....crispy yet soft in the middle. My wife got their bacon jam burger with a well done cook and she raved about how juicy it was. The cook was to her preference as well. She wasn't too impressed with the pasta salad as a side, but she did get an order of sweet potato fries and they were great as well. Finished the evening with their carrot cake and key lime pie to go and they were both delicious. Their key lime may be the best I've had in this area. Our server Morgan was awesome as well. Very attentive and helpful with the menu suggestions and explaining the things she personally liked, along with what was popular with other patrons. Their setup is odd....not saying that in a bad way, but its an older building and the layout says that. We were seated very quickly. Again, Morgan was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was good....very apt for a date night. Didn't get the chance to check out any of the other dishes around, but everyone seemed pleased with the service and the food. Will be back again to try some of their other entrees.

First, the hospitality is top notch. We also ordered a delicious Caesar salad to spit. Both were so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture before we started eating. For our main course, my daughter ordered the braised pork shank from the regular menu and loved it. The pork itself was ridiculously fork-tender and the candied cabbage was an incredible sweet counterbalance to the savory sauce. Easily a 9/10 dish. For me, I ordered the Duck, which was perfectly cooked (rare), a great sear, and seasoned incredibly. I was torn on whether the star of the dish was the duck or the accompanying Brussel sprouts. Regardless, a very solid 8/10. The restaurant was very kind to gift us dessert for our special occasion. I had a very happy 10 year old when she saw the dessert plate arrive. Perfect spot for a girls night dinner. We came on Friday at 7pm and we're seated at a half…read morebooth/chairs section. We were a party of 7. This is in the heart of downtown Winston so parking is pretty limited but there are street spots and garages nearby. Service was good, prompt and friendly. We enjoyed a variety of cocktails and wines for beverages. Entree orders included steaks/filets, gnocchi and the fried chicken. The courses were paced nicely, giving us time to savor each bite and engage in great conversation. I really liked the Caesar salad with the fried artichoke and my filet was cooked medium as requested. The Mac and cheese side was delicious too, thick cheesy and super satisfying. I had some of my friends charred Brussels sprouts too and those were tasty as well. All in all, we were all happy with this pick! We cleared our main plates and sadly did not have room for dessert- next time! Gratuity is included (I assume it starts at parties of 6 or more). @azfitfoodfun

A very lovely evening at Jeffrey Adams on Fourth. Arrived just in time for our reservation and they…read moreimmediately seated us. A friendly server brought us water and we were able to order drinks and appetizers. The restaurant on the ground floor was not large but it was very nice looking and modern. There is an upstairs that we didn't see. The waiting area is large which is nice because I imagine at time there is a wait. It is an upscale place though you saw a variety in patrons there. Anyway, we ordered the pot roast nachos and a cup of the soup du jour which came very quickly. Both were excellent and a great start to the meal. Someone decided to bring us bread that we didn't order which was nice. It was probably a good thing the server spilled the water at our table and gave us the bread for free since we didn't order it. again, anyway, the entrees came and they looked good. Seafood risotto was cooked well, not over done. And there was a lot of it. The fried chicken was also nicely cooked. Both were under seasoned and needed salt which is not my favorite when in a restaurant such as this. However, it is also understandable. Once we were done, our server informed us that they were treating us to dessert (because it was our anniversary) and brought us their warm brown with ice cream. It was delicious. We scraped the plate clean. It was a lovely meal and lovely evening.
