    Virgin Strawberry Basil Margarita

Birthday dinner vibes! I had the pleasure of being treated to dinner at Outwest for my birthday and they did not disappoint! I knew this was going to be a great experience when we parked. We arrived at 4pm, they open at 4:30 and there was already a line forming. The door was opened promptly at 4:30 and we were seated quickly. The staff was all very polite and professional. We were served out drinks quickly. My Strawberry Margarita was a mocktail by request but they have the real thing as well. We started off with the crab dip appetizer. It came out quickly after ordering. It was warm, cheesy and delicious. The toasted flatbread was some and warm as well. I would definitely get this again. For the entree I had the Grilled Shrimp with the Honey Bourbon Glaze on the side. Thanks to our waitress for flagging the heat level on the glaze. It was about a 7 out of ten for heat intensity. It was very tasty but having it on the side allowed me to manage the experience. My broccoli and baked potato were cooked to perfection with very little salt or pepper needed for seasoning. I love when my broccoli is still bright green but also not hard to chew. For dessert, honestly I was stuffed but it's my birthday so we have to have cake right! We chose the strawberry shortcake cheesecake that was on special for the weekend. It was so decadent and rich that I couldn't only have a couple of bites but I took it home to enjoy later. I have an amazing birthday dinner and I can't wait to come back to try some other menu items. Pro tip: Arrive early and hungry!

I've seen people frequenting this place and leaving a lot of love for it, and whenever I do find myself driving by near dinner hours it is always PACKED. I had never visited before because at least for me, it's not super convenient to where I live, and quite honestly... I make a better steak at home with some effort. But, sometimes there is an occasion where you'd like a steak dinner and not have to cook it yourself, AND in this case it did happen to be on the path to an evening activity, so we used it as a date night spot. We had tickets for a 7:30 show in Winston, and they do not do reservations here. Even eating at the old folks hour of 5pm, there was a 30 minute wait. It was easily over an hour by the time we left. They text you when ready so we got to sit in our car instead of packed into the lobby, and our wait time was actually less than quoted. I'm sure you'll be surprised when I tell you there is a western ranch theme here. Less like a kitschy steakhouse, more nicely appointed. Our server was ontop of things by and large, you can tell this place runs like a well oiled machine as they can expect to be busy every night. We started with a french onion soup to split, one of our favorites when we can find it. This one was pretty good, i wouldn't say one of the best around, but definitely worth trying. Nice thick layer of cheese and bread soaking up the oniony broth. We opted for salads with our meal, she went caesar, I went house. Both fresh and crisp, the caesar probably slightly better. Somehow... steakhouses always seem to have an excellent caesar dressing. She went with a special, a top sirloin with a chimichurri and roasted brussel sprouts. I opted for a strip steak in a creamy mushroom peppercorn sauce and loaded potato. Both steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered them, I found it interesting they had sliced them for us. We made further cuts to the large pieces, but I've not really had a steakhouse do that before. It did result in more sauce available, and in my case, that was very welcome. Meat was great, but the sauce really set it off. My wife's steak was also cooked right, but her chimichurri was a bit boring. Needed some kind of kick, it was fine, but not a highlight. Brussels were nicely roasted, my baked potato was indeed loaded. All told, we can see why this place is well liked. It won't be a place we go often, but if the occasion arises, we'd come back!

Get there early or late!! It is crazy how busy this place gets at 430 when they open. The beet salad - add salmon is my favorite. !! My husband got a steak, and he said it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. The ambience is pretty loud and busy- so not the place for a romantic meal. But definitely the place for a fun, delicious evening

I'm beginning this review at the very beginning of dinner with my family a party of 11. These first 10 minutes of my visit our waitress Lisa has been extremely rude to me. I'm hoping this will change so that it doesn't effect my dining experience. I will return. Edit the morning after dinner: Lisa did seem to lighten up just a little with the rudeness. She continued to reach across me near my face without saying excuse me and the rudeness was still present. I only felt this towards me and didn't witness it with any other family members. As I stated, I was with my family a party of 11. My husband, my mother in love and myself arrived about 5 minutes after our family was seated. We played musical chairs a bit to get everyone situated. When Lisa began to take orders she started at my end of the table. I nicely informed her she can start at the other end of the table she said and I quote "No, I'm going to start here. If you are not ready, I won't take your order but I'm going start here." I was seated a the end of the table with my husband next to me. As she served my husband beer, water, food, she passed each of these items to my husband very near my face without saying excuse me. With a party of 11, gratuities were already added to our bill so I couldn't reflect my experience through the tip. This was our first visit to Outwest and I must say this experience took away from the beautiful medieval decor, the ambiance of the restaurant, even the food. I bought my dinner home because I was ready to leave. I didn't say anything because my family was having a good time. We had my nephew home from the Navy, 4 members visiting from PR, and another nephew visiting from Florida, I didn't want to ruin this for the family. I guess I will move on to the food now. Crab dip for appetizer was creamy and good. I would suggest frying the pita chips just for a crunchy with the creaminess of the dip. My husband had the onion soup, I tasted it, very good, not salty like some onion soups can be in restaurants. Salads were served in a chilled bowl and I appreciate that. We both ordered steaks. I would love an option to add seasonings to the steak prior to grilling in restaurants. Yet overall the steaks were decent quality. We are planning to have our steaks for lunch today. I did order the key lime pie to go(like I said I was ready to leave). It's in the fridge ready to be devoured. Overall, I hope to return with a different waitress and really enjoy the place. But first impressions are everything. I am genuinely a nice person who lives daily by the golden rule, right now my heart it is heavy with disbelief. I would also like to mention our dinner for 2 was $179 with gratuity.

I've heard so much about how awesome this place is. The hostess was very polite seating us. It took awhile before the waitress greeted us, she was very pleasant. Looks like a typical western steakhouse inside. It wasn't too loud considering the number of people. Everyone said order the prime rib it's awesome. Let me tell you it was OK! Iwas not impressed especially considering how much they charged. $36 for a 12oz with 1 side. Honestly I've had much better at Texas Roadhouse. Maybe their normal chef wasn't in who knows. I ordered the Prime Rib medium Rare, it came out more medium. We had to ask for bread, the crust was so hard you could barely chew it with of course almost frozen butter. The best part of my meal was the sweet potato. If I go back I will not order the Prime Rib.

Forgot to take a pic of the food because the smell was so enticing, I got carried away. The employees and our waiter Zach was very prepared for the massive influx of people on Fathers Day. Execution was fast and efficient for the number of people in the restaurant. I had Grilled Chicken with a Parmesan Black Pepper Marsala & Mushroom sauce, brussel sprouts, sautéed button mushrooms, Irish home fries with Blue Cheese sauce and the Lemon Blueberry Martini. The taste of each complimented the other exactly as should without being overwhelming.

Exceptional restaurant. We loved the service. Waitress was super helpful when choosing our selections. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection. The ambiance was super nice and chill. Love the western style design of the place. They do have a great selection at the Bar. Overall a perfect place for a good dinner with your loved ones.

Took my twins here for their birthday dinner this past week and had a good time! It did take a few minutes for our server to finally come take our drink order but once he realized we were there, the service was good the rest of the evening. They both definitely got steak (along with my wife) since that it what Outwest is known for and it was all cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I tried the grouper which was good but not exactly what I expected. I don't think the parmesan crust is necessary since the filet is basically sitting in a bowl of lemon caper sauce. The breading gets soggy and doesn't really work well with the sauce. The fish was cooked well but the dish was just muddled to me with the tomatoes and needed some texture or something to break things up. I think grilling the shrimp would help give it some added flavor and texture. My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits. The size of the shrimp was huge but the grits were not that great. It's almost as if the ancho chile and cheddar cheese competes too much with the parmesan cream sauce. Just too much going on I think and again I think grilling the shrimp would add a crunch/texture element that is missing in the dish. My youngest son ordered the kids cheeseburger and it is a great portion size. He could only eat half of it! We did order the potato wedges app and crab dip (did not get a picture of them). The wedges were good but I would prefer to have the ranch on the side so you have the option on how much to use as well as to help keep it cold. Warm ranch is ! The crab dip is very good but the pita chips could use a toast or something to crisp them up. We actually used the house rolls as they held up better to the dip. All in all it was a good evening and hope to go back somet

Amazing apps, good steaks, all around solid spot! I came here for a work dinner the other night. We were a party of 15 and although originally intended to sit inside, one of the hosts let us know there was a spot outside that would be available sooner. They have an extensive wine menu as well as plenty of beers and a standard cocktail menu. Not a huge deal at all, but I do wish they had some N/A / mocktail offerings, a lot of places are expanding in that area and I think it would be nice if Outwest did too! I settled for a diet coke though while everyone else mostly had beers and old-fashioneds. One person did get a blue motorcycle which looked pretty interesting. For apps, we ordered just about "one of each" (my foodie dream come true) - the prime rib sliders, crab dip, filet medallions, blackened shrimp, mushrooms, and we even went for the lamb entree (as a starter!). I also had a bowl of the French onion soup. App-wise...all delicious! Filet medallions were cooked and seasoned perfectly (also made me excited for my entree because I had arrived set on a surf+turf), the blackened shrimp and avocado salsa hit the spot. The prime rib sliders...so so good (meat was super tender and juicy, the au jus was just a bonus), and even though I'm not big on mushrooms, they were fantastic as well. I don't have lamb often, but when I do, it normally does not disappoint, and this was no exception. It was also cooked and seasoned perfectly. The bread and butter were good too - piping hot rolls and a slightly softened/whipped butter. And we haven't even hit the main course! Pretty much everyone ordered a filet/prime rib and lobster tail. I also ordered the stuffed tomatoes as a premium side. I only requested the 7oz cut but barely made a dent in it after sampling all of the apps. My filet was delicious, cooked medium, and the lobster tail was huge - a lot larger than I had been expecting. I will say flavor wise, nothing compares to a fresh Maine lobster, but this serving certainly compensated in size for what it lacked in that special Maine touch! And finally for dessert - their special was apple cobbler cheesecake. As enticing as that was though (and plenty of others did order it), I went with the oreo crumb cheesecake and was very content with that decision. Only made it about 3 bites in before asking for a box! To make a long review short, this was a great spot for a teambuilding dinner and I would definitely recommend it for a similar function. I'd come on my own dime, but I definitely wouldn't be ordering as extensively-ha! Service was great, friendly, and very hospitable. Glasses were never empty and it seemed that dishes were being served continuously!

Delicious surprise in Kernersville! My parents and I stopped by on Father's Day while in the area and had a wonderful experience. We sat at the bar and our servers were great! Super attentive and friendly. It was definitely steady this day and I know extremely busy before we arrived so the service was even more impressive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the outdoor patio is spacious, covered with fans and umbrellas. Beautiful flowers, just an all around welcoming space. For food, we had the Texas Nachos and BBQ Bacon & Cheddar Chicken sandwiches. YUM! My mom and I agreed that that these were the best grilled chicken sandwiches we've had in a very long time, if not ever! The chicken was tender, the melty cheese and crispy bacon between two pillowy and buttery buns. I want another right now! I also loved the barbecue sauce. The fries are great and the ranch was delicious. Their prices were also reasonable. They do charge $1 a piece for side sauces, didn't realize that but they were worth it! Highly recommend this place! But be prepared to wait during busy times, or snag a seat at the bar if you're lucky!

Loved the ambiance and the cocktails. Food was just meh! The brussel sprouts had great flavor, but they were swimming in oil. The crab cakes were mostly breading. I did think the garlic mashed potatoes were good. I got a glass of wine that was actually about 2/3 of a glass. Service was excellent.

The parking lot was packed for an early Tuesday evening, but we were seated right away. Our server was clueless about the bar menu. The menu Old Fashioned called for Spiced Rum. I told her I wanted a regular Old Fashioned. Puzzled look. I said "made with bourbon as an Old Fashioned should be" she said "i'll have to talk to the bartender." Suddenly, our party grew and we had to change tables and servers. Thank goodness, it was gonna be a long night. Our new server (Katarin) got it, and I got my Knob Creek Old Fashioned in short order. WARNING: bread is free, but you have to ask for it. Its a crispy, French dinner roll. Served hot. Butter, however, came straight from the fridge. Would have been better at room temperature. So we started with the crab dip. Lots of crab meat in a creamy sauce, baked with a lightly browned Parmesan cheese finish. Toasted pita chips. Ample serving for five. Delicious start to the evening. Next were house salads. The typical mix of lettuce, tomato, cukes, and cheese, with choice of housemade dressing. Fresh. I chose French Onion Soup instead of salad. My absolute favorite! A rich, beefy broth, lots of onions, topped with Guyere chese, perfectly melted over a piece of crusty French bread. Yum yum! Carolyn had the 7oz filet and loaded baked potato. The steak was a perfect medium. A slightly crisp outside, and beautiful pink center. Tender and tasty ($36). Best filet we've had in a while. I went for the single rack of Baby Back Ribs ($22). Slow cooked, fall off the bone doneness. A really tasty dry rub and served with a tangy BBQ sauce on the side. I highly recommend the ribs. Liz had the salmon. Pan seared to perfection. Liz loves salmon and was quite pleased. Daniel had a well done (OMG) New York Strip. The kitchen did a great job of not turning this great cut of meat to ash. Managed a touch of pink and preserved juiciness, yet satisfied his desire for no red. Served with A-1. Ok, he's young and will eventually figure out how to eat steak. Loaded baked potatoes were nicely cooked and smothered with cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, and chives. Actually better than I expected. All in all, a great meal all around. Katarina was attentive without hovering. She offered dessert but we were too full. We did see some deserts come to nearby tables and they looked great. This is one of those places you could make a meal of appetizers and dessert. We'll have to try that one time. Decor is very nice. Prices are well in line with comparable restaurants. Cgeck out the horse statues ohtside the entrance. This is a gem in Kernersville and we shall return!! Highly recommended for special occasions.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

There are two bar areas, both U-shaped and only 2-3 tables in the very back. Makayla is the MOST enthusiastic waitress and you can tell she LOVES what she does. My bar neighbors ordered the shrimp teriyaki bowl and the crab stuffed flounder. They BOTH look fantastic!! Hubby had the blacked chicken platter with rice and tots. I chose the 2 item seafood combination consisting of flounder and fantail shrimp, with their famous potato's and Cole slaw. The chicken was AMAZING, the tots crispy and the rice simple & flavorful - just like he likes it. My seafood was hot & tasted fresh! I can't wait to return!!!

We continually had to drive around the building in search of a parking space. Several of our employees were from out of town, and they were concerned about getting towed. It took them over 20 minutes to find a parking space and another 15 minutes to walk to the restaurant, as the entire parking lot was full. Next, we ordered from their extensive menu, which offered plenty of options. The waitress was fantastic and the food was fresh. The place was packed but clean, and we weren't cramped in the building. For the amount paid for eight people, it was worth the visit and likely a revisit.

It's in that same TGI Friday's/Ruby Tuesday/Applebees tier, yet its full parking lot suggests brisk business. The location - it sits on a busy stretch of 66 - may explain some of that though Sixty Six isn't without other virtues. Spacious and well-staffed, Sixty Six isn't the kind of place where you'll have to wait long to find a table or receive food. It's dark and a bit noisy but not headache-inducingly loud. The menu is decently large, boasting everything from apps and wings to burgers and sandwiches to Tex Mex and pizza. There aren't any real surprises, but there's enough variety to accommodate most diets. For our lunchtime visit, my wife and I split a fried pickles app followed by a jalapeno burger (with sweet potato fries) and a Nashville chicken sandwich (with chips), respectively. Admittedly, the fried pickles didn't make for a very attractive-looking plate. Instead of golden brown pickle chips, there were thicker, lightly battered slices. However, they tasted just fine and paired well with a zesty dipping sauce. Speaking of zesty sauces, the chicken sandwich had it aplenty, and it made for a satisfyingly messy bite. The chips were homemade and rated above average. Unfortunately, Sixty Six overcooks its meats. Under all the sauce, the chicken itself was a bit dry. My wife ordered her burger medium well and received it well beyond well done. As with the chicken, it was still flavorful despite the doneness issues. On food alone, Sixty Six isn't a strong draw, but factor convenience and versatility into the mix, and it becomes a solid lunch option.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

The waitress was friendly and polite, and the place itself was nice and clean. It was a little loud inside, but nothing too crazy. I get takeout from here pretty often, and the food is always consistently good. I didn't get it this time, but I love their grilled Thai shrimp--it's definitely one of my favorites! Definitely one of my go-to spots!
