These jalapeno popper balls were a wonderful appetizer.

Sometimes... you have to eat a little crow. Those that know me, know that i routinely poke fun at Texas Roadhouse, and up until this particular visit, I have had good reason. But, what's fair is fair, and if a place unexpectedly gives me a 5-star eating experience (against expectations), I will in turn give them a 5-star review. So here I am... dipping some crow in some ranch and writing a 5-star review, first of it's kind, for Texas Roadhouse. You can look at my previous reviews and see that my wife and I come here once a year, because her grandparents give all the grandkids a gift certificate every Christmas, because they love the place. On a night where we "just can't even" and if there is not a wait at all, we will go. So we ended up here on a stormy Monday night. Walked right in, sat right down. "Captain" Morgan, was our waitress. She also was the main bartender, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was upbeat, and gave us just the right amount of attention and service. As is standard at ROADHOUSE you're sat down with yeast rolls ready to eat. I still don't understand the obsession, but they tasted good enough. We had a sizeable gift card this time, so we ordered apps, and both decided to give the steaks another try. The one time we ever did that, it was a huge mistake, they were absolutely butchered, not cooked right, and were so thin that they really couldn't be handled any other way. Now, you can actually go to the counter and select your steak by grabbing the ticket with the number on it. I did that, picking out a nice look 12 oz. NY strip, my wife got filet medallions. We both got caesar salads, i got loaded mashed potatoes, she got mac n cheese. The app was the jalapeno poppers... done their special way, more like a hushpuppy filled with japaleno and cheese. Better... honestly. Great app. Salads came out. On our last visit... they were gross. There was so much dressing, covering up basically bad lettuce. This time, appropriate dressing, crisp lettuce, appropriate amount of parm and croutons. They're crushing it this time. But, my steak. Y'all. I did not expect this. Honestly... they could not have nailed it any harder than they did. Perfectly medium, every bite was juicy, tender, beefy, rendered fatty edges, nice seasoning. It was impressive. The same could be said for my wife's filet medallions, we both enjoyed our sides too. In the end. I think this is the best TR could ever possibly do. At this point, this visit is an outlier... but a 5-star visit, deserves a 5-star review. Well done to Captain Morgan, and her crew-mates in the kitchen.

Mountain of dirty dishes we had to wrestle with the whole time, since our waitress was MIA.

All good things must come to an end. Lately, this Texas Roadhouse has been no better than the others. Perhaps even worse. Overcooked rolls, unseasoned meats, overdressed salads. Music impossibly loud. Horrible service. At my most recent visit, our waitress took 5-10 minutes to come by once we were seated, and didn't come by again between taking our order and bringing the check. No dishes taken away, no free bread refilled, no drinks refilled, no checking in on how our food came out. Oh and at the end, she acted completely incredulous that my partner and I WEREN'T splitting the check. Not really sure what to make of that... P.S. There was a hair in one of our rolls.

    Lunch with hubby!

Hubby wanted some steak and I was in need of some grilled shrimp. So we stopped by here before heading home to Kernersville. Hubby ordered the 6 oz, chicken critters ( chicken tenders) baked potato with sour cream, cheese and bacon. He did mention the steak wasn't cooked how he ask( medium but they cooked it medium rare) the steak wasn't seasoned very well. We both got a side salad. Hubby a Caesar salad and me a house salad. The house salad looks a lot better than the Caesar salad in my opinion. My house sale had bits of eggs, cheese, tomatoes, croutons and the ranch was pretty good. I ordered nine pieces of the grilled shrimp came with seasoned rice, my other side was also a baked potato. I absolutely enjoy my meal they cook the shrimp perfectly, the rice was seasoned so well and my baked potato was delicious. I did took the peanuts to go since I was kind of getting full. Everyone already knows the bread rolls is the bomb dot com! The music was a little too loud when we were there, I could barely hear my husband talking. I also got a adult drink because it's Saturday why not lol the midnight sour, oh boy this drink was so strong I definitely taste the rum. Over all experience is a solid 4.

Its a cute place to go to for your steak fixings. The staffs are kind and quick to help, the place is clean, and the food is great. What I enjoyed about this place is the fun line dancing they do and the birthday rodeo/song.

I come to this location about once a week so it's safe to say I really enjoy it here. The food is almost always spectacular, with my usual order being a steak, loaded fries, and a Caesar salad. During this particular outing, the rolls were hot and fresh but we did not get refills quickly. Our food came out perfect, with my medium steak cooked to perfection. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great! The service can be hit or miss but, again, as often as I come, it is never enough to turn me away. I will be returning!

I picked up my food over an hour ago and I am just receiving the text telling me my preset is ready!
    Vicente C.

This chain has an app that allows you to order takeout. This is the worst takeout experience by far from any other chains. I arrive to pick up my food after the time I chose to have it ready by and it wasn't ready. I had this experience a month ago and then again in March of last year. I should've known better than to order from here. That's what I get for thinking it would be different. I was told I would get a text message when my order was ready. No text after 15 minutes. I walk up to the window And my order magically appeared. One young lady in particular does not like her job. She is not helpful at all and she ignores customers regularly. This is definitely my last time eating from this place. The chicken was over seasoned and overcooked. Dry, cardboard chicken. How did that food make it out of the kitchen. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

Salty fried pickles we waited 30 minutes for
    Teresa T.

We(my husband and I) were out picking up last minute groceries for the 4th. We decided to go to Texas Roadhouse. There was a 30 minute wait for a table but we found seating at the bar. Taylor, our bartender, was nice and accommodating from the start. We were served ice cold beer, which we enjoyed on this hot day. My husband received his salad before we received the appetizer fried pickles. This was noted by the both of us but it wasn't dwelled on. The issue we encountered in this visit was the lack of empathy that we waited over 30 minutes for our food, while other guest at the bar arrived after us received their food. Maybe some acknowledgement of the delay of our order. We decided to check out, paying only for what we consumed(2 beers each, the pickles were credited due to the delay). Well once we asked for the bill, Taylor(bartender) attitude changed telling us that our order was next to come out and our order had only been in for "only" 30 minutes. She went and got the manager and we overheard her explaining she told us our order was up next. I don't know what happened to common courtesy of letting guest know what is happening with their order but it wasn't displayed in this visit. A simple, wow you haven't received your order yet goes a long way. The ice cold beer was absolutely divine, hence the 2 stars. I really hope this was an isolated incident because I like Texas Roadhouse for what it is.

The food was great! My steak was a little bit more done than I wanted (I ordered rare) but still pretty red and delicious! The house salad is one of the best! The rolls were great as well. The added onions were not worth the extra price. Our waitress was great! The one issue was the kitchen never brought our blooming onion out which was disappointing. We ended up getting it to go because we had a coupon for a free one that was about to expire. No manager ever came out to apologize or potentially offer to give us a coupon for another one which was disappointing.

We didn't have reservations but were seated right away, which made for an easy start to the evening. The space has a modern, relaxed vibe that feels perfect for a casual dinner or drinks. We started with the Lobster Nachos, which were a fun twist since they're made with crispy potato wedges instead of chips. They were topped with lobster, bacon, scallions, and a creamy sauce: rich, indulgent, and great for sharing. For the main dish, I had the Ribeye steak with a side of cauliflower mash. The steak had a nice sear and great flavor, and the cauliflower mash was smooth, creamy and delicious, making it a great alternative to traditional mashed potatoes. A solid first visit with flavorful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. Earl's Landing is a great new addition to the downtown High Point dining scene, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. When we arrived at 5pm, the restaurant was fairly empty and they were already set up and waiting for our group reservation. We were greeted by Freya, who had a great personality and provided fantastic service all evening while we were there. Can't speak highly enough of her! They have a comprehensive wine menu and a full bar. I started with a Lemon Drop Martini which was delicious, and later had a glass of Merlot as well which was tasty as well. They had warm fresh bread on the table with butter which was great since we were all very hungry. For my meal, I ordered the Halibut Large Plate. This was a lightly crisp blackened piece of Halibut topped with lump grab and a sauce, then served atop a piece of andouille sausage, asparagus, and creamy grits. There were SO MANY flavors perfectly balanced together here with a variety of textures to enjoy as well. I have nothing but good things to say about this. Blue Water Grille is fairly expensive and not somewhere you would come regularly, but for a special outing or a date night it is a great treat. The menu is seafood heavy and non-seafood items also pack a lot of flavor, so be aware that there are limited options for that picky eater in your party who perhaps wants a more plain chicken dish. As an aside - Someone in my party got the Mac & Cheese small plate and it looked fantastic. Definitely something I'm going to order next time!

It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Then there was a random orchid blossom and a branch of whole parsley on top (mine had a flower, too), which felt completely out of place. The beef medallions were the bigger issue -- no sear at all and they had a slightly gamey flavor (which I'm hoping doesn't come back to bite me later). Honestly, the l'orange sauce was the best part of the dish and the only thing saving it -- without it, the plate would have been close to inedible. The "crispy potato medley" was neither crispy nor seasoned -- and I mean not even salt. It was mostly zucchini, squash, and red bell pepper with zero flavor. All 6 of the tiny potato cubes themselves tasted like they came straight out of a freezer bag. Nothing was inedible, but nothing justified the price. The whole experience felt pretentious without actually delivering on quality or execution. I will say -- the staff was very nice and attentive, which was the highlight of the experience.
