We've come back for Sunday lunch again and we're again impressed. This time our party was 6 adults, 1 "big kid", 1 toddler, and a baby. We ordered separately just because of arrival times (our part of the group arrived 10 minutes late) so our food came out at different times but it was not a problem. My favorite thing on the menu is the sweet potatoes--they're perfectly mashed, sweet without being too sweet. My husband likes the chicken pie a lot and it's his go-to! The kids meal sides can be any side which is great because our big kid isn't a huge French fry fan. We would recommend the chicken tenders and macaroni for any kid or adult! I ordered a sliced pork sandwich with no slaw and they gave me a chopped barbecue sandwich with the slaw on it so wet snd sloppy I had to take time off work to go change my shirt! Just went here for the first time with the family. The workers here are exceptional in service and hospitality. So glad we went here with the family. The prices are good. The food is delicious with good serving sizes. You won't leave hungry. Their peach cobbler and banana pudding are good. We will be back. This review is purely for the tenderloin biscuit. The same gem of a biscuit they are serving up at the original Wendover location, and can also be found at the NC-68 location. It is magic. It might literally be the best tenderloin biscuit on the east coast, especially if you have the good sense to add a little bit of their excellent house made hot sauce. It's got a little sweet to go with the heat, and the breading on the tenderloin soaks it right up. For a real treat, order your biscuit with egg and cheese if you'd like to skip lunch that day. I have had the Q at the other locations, and while it is good enough, it wouldn't be in my area top 5. I haven't actually ever been inside this location, always drove thru, so I can't speak to service or the dine in experience. The drive thru line here always moves quickly, and the staff is courteous as well as fast. Just what you need before work. So, if nothing else, this review should get you in the door or the drive thru line for breakfast, then maybe you'll try the other offerings on your own! I recommend it! read more

I am not much of a Carolina barbecue fan, however, this place is a little different. The pork was well cooked, juicy and tender. The baked beans were excellent. They did have typical white and red slaw are in pretty much a standard set of employees for any barbecue restaurant. Their sauce, though, now that sets them apart. Typically in a Carolina barbecue style place you would get a vinegar based dip instead of a "sauce". The barbecue sauce here is thick and rich with a kick and changes the entire meal. We came here after a long days move and will definitely be back. As a matter of fact, I'm writing this after going back the second day to get barbecue for the family after everyone helped us move. The food is pretty good. Service is always friendly. Inside it's your typical bbq joint atmosphere where there's a constant aroma of pit cooked bbq. I got a chopped sandwich and the bbq is good but it's on the dry side. I forgot to ask for extra bbq sauce and they don't automatically put it in the bag for takeout although they probably should. If they would put a good amount of bbq slaw on it then the extra sauce may not be necessary. Fries are good and the desserts look delicious! In the fall the Brunswick stew is really tasty! read more

We went by to get a bbq sandwich and a couple of hotdogs all the way. Our fries were over cooked no salt tasteless. The hotdogs had no slaw. The bbq sandwich Was wet and mushy like it came out of a can or bottom of the pot. They have always been good in the past, but now enter at your own risk. I couldn't come to North Carolina without getting BBQ. I tried Country BBQ Express for the first time. The facilitates are beautiful. This clearly a brand new restaurant. The food is pretty good. The chopped BBQ has the best seasoning. The coarse chopped BBQ looks the best and tastes better. Now one was 100% satisfied with their food but we ate most of it. The green beans are good and the baked beans are good. I like the coleslaw also. The hush puppies were okay. The reason they lost two stars was the service. It took 3 additional trips to the counter for them to get our order correct. We didn't get the banana pudding until we were about to leave after we ate our food. Everyone was confused. The cashier was looking at the cooks confused and vice versa. Who is in charge here? I'm going to give them another chance but I was disappointed. read more

It's been several months, but I've finally found time to sit down for a review! My fam has been extremely cautious about COVID spikes this year and we've had our fair share of Postmate orders, including our first try of this place. We ordered Mac-n-Cheese, 1/2 BBQ Chicken Plate, BBQ Pork Rib Plate, Green Beans, and Baked Beans. The chicken was tender with great flavor according to my hubby and I LOVED my BBQ Ribs were saucy and fell off the bone (the way I like it). I couldn't help but devour the whole thing despite my tummy telling me I could probably save some for later. Considering this was a delivered meal, I imagine that our experience would have been even better with the chance to dine in someday. Ok, I'm really sad to leave this review especially since it used to be one of our favorite places to eat in High Point. The last 3-4 times we've eaten there it just hasn't been good. The service is still pretty good and the ice tea is amazing, but the bbq sandwich is very lacking. It's overbooked and very dry....and the bun tasted old and dried out as well. The slaw is delish as ever but there's hardly any on the sandwich anymore. I'm writing this review in hopes the owners and our managers will take notice and get things right again!! Only went through the drive-thru - as it is Country Barbeque "Express". Very friendly and prompt service from both drive-thru employees. The food was barely ok. Cold fries...hot dogs that were just a mess of mushy chili soaked buns wrapped in paper - also not very warm. Chopped bbq plate was just ok...not impressed with the food at all. Sweet tea was warm....must have been freshly made but the ice melted immediately...so watery tea. I will go back and try the breakfast, as I have heard good things about it! Has a nice entrance and very appealing look. When we walked in I was surprised to find that the restaurant was dirty and they had spilled drinks everywhere and it was quite loud. Went through the drive thru one night for dinner. I thought the price was a bit high for take out. The hushpuppies were very good. But none of our other choices made much of an impact. I always enjoy the tenderloin plate here... with mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and gravy. It made for a tasty dinner last night. Unfortunately five of the six employees I could see were not wearing their mask properly. Hanging down below their noses isn't acceptable to me. With the sad closure of Carter Brothers Barbecue in High Point, This Country BBQ Express now takes top spot for breakfast and biscuits in High Point! This place is brand new, and squeaky clean. Nice new private paved lot with plenty of parking and good lighting. Dual lane ordering for the drive through keeps things moving. The service is fast and friendly and will have you on your way in no time. Inside it's counter service only, and plenty of seating options. Breakfast menu is large, and has the usual choices with biscuits, plates, and most items available a la carte. Breakfast is where this place shines, And it shines like the star Sirius. They open at 6am every morning, even Sunday when every other breakfast place in the entire Triad area is closed. The biscuits are huge, fresh and hot, everything a biscuit should be. The tenderloin biscuit is one of the best around. Period. You can get it in a combo with hash browns and a drink for less time money and aggravation than fast food! Speaking of the hash browns, they are like strips of hash brown, and always cooked up perfectly. Not overly greasy. Definitely good. A great place for breakfast, easily 5 stars. The menu for lunch and dinner has BBQ, some other sandwiches, and plates. The BBQ I could take or leave. It's just OK. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing to get excited about. Last couple of sandwiches I had were on the thin side. No big deal really, if I want BBQ I'll go to Lexington. Country Barbeque Express is something of a cross between counter service fast food and table service food made-to-order. They are one of many restaurants that are adopting the modern trend in furnishings, i.e., metal chairs, tables, etc, with little plush decor. The result of this is a shocking dose of cold to your posterior when you sit down as well as a LOUD atmosphere. Good for hemorrhoids I suppose, but I'm not really a fan. The staff behaves in a competent but perfunctory manner. The food is good, but nothing remarkable. Except maybe the tenderloin. Eggs and grits were fine. The biscuit had a good flavor but a tough exterior. I was surprised by the tenderloin--it was flavorful and really tender, so tender that I wondered if it was a whole piece of tenderloin or more of a cobbled together tenderloin "product". I asked a wandering server but she had no idea, so I let it go. But it was definitely tasty and tender. They also have very good sweet tea. The staff behaves in a competent but perfunctory manner. It is busy and popular. Not my first choice, or even my second, but a respectable third string option. read more

The establishment is clean and there are plenty of tables and booths to dine it, but they also have a drivethru lane. I've done both, and it was stellar either way. The food is very tasty, but slightly more expensive than your local mom and pop bbq joint. I've had the sliced pork bbq, the bbq chicken, and tried the chopped bbq. All of the meat was very tasty and moist. They have a few standard sides, but the green beans and potato salad and my favorites. They also have some delicious dessert options! Cakes, milkshakes, but the best is the cobbler. You can get a warm strawberry or peach cobbler topped with vanilla soft serve and that is just the perfect ending to a southern meal. The BBQ had a great flavor and was tender and moist. The staff were very friendly. They included cups of BBQ sauce on the side. I'm glad because it was really spicy! This place has gone severely downhill very quickly. For the second week in a row we have been completely screwed over on our order in the drive-thru. The food quality last week was so poor that the fries broke through the bag before we got it home due to the grease. The BBQ was bone dry and the ball park rolls were crumbly. Today we got home with a BBQ for 6 but they didn't include the slaw. We were also told that it is standard to give only 2 small BBQ sauce cups for every 6 people - absolutely ridiculous! We offered to pay for extra sauce. Do not bother complaining to them about the poor service or your waste of money for crap food. They don't care to hear it.
