County fried steak with double okra
    Marie S.

Little Amazing place in Kernsville right off interstate 40. Everyone should stop here on the way by. Plenty of parking. When you enter you are greeted by really friendly staff. If you eat in you can seat yourself. We were passing by stopped in for a to go order. I ordered the Monday special- county fried steak- It was smothered in a delicious gravy - the steak was so tender it cut with a plastic fork! The gravy was peppery with a hint of sausage. I got a double side of their fried okra because it is so delicious. The ring shaped hush puppies were yummy and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a pound of bbq to go for dinner later. (It is always good)

YES! My Daughter was right! This is an amazing place with great food. I now understand why a friend here for only 3 days went there to eat twice. We arrived around 11:00 and there was already a good crowd. My allergies started acting up and I realized it was because of the smoke from cooking. (It was worth it.) Service was great even though I could tell she was in the weeds. Daily special was meatloaf and I was tempted, but I can make it and cannot make barbecue. Barbecue portions were large and I loved their sauce and added some hot sauce on top. Yum! I won't order Mac and cheese in the future because it was mushy and lacking in cheese. I highly recommend this restaurant. I was Very tempted to get peach cobbler. The price was a little too high in my opinion and it's not like I was hungry afterwards. Doggy bag please.

First visit, came here for lunch. Place was hoppin', yet service was still good. I had the pork plate (chopped course) barbecue coleslaw, and baked beans. The pork had pretty good flavor, but, for me, their vinegar based sauce was a huge miss. I was not a fan of the barbecue coleslaw either, which is made with the same funky bbq sauce. The beans were fine. The side of hush puppies, which looked like onion rings, we're actually very tasty. The inside of the restaurant was old school and not in the best shape, but it was clean.

Food was good! Service was fantastic! Place is a total dive which is why only 3 stars. Sticky tables, bottles, walls, gross floors and just overall dingy. But, some of the best food is found in dive joints. We had pork sandwiches and a French fry basket. Our sweet server brought out homemade ranch dressing for dipping, that was a nice treat! Cheap lunch, if you can get past the lack of cleanliness, then this is a decent place to stop for a quick, tasty, filling meal served with a smile.

Always on the hunt for a good biscuit for breakfast, I found myself irregularly in this neck of the woods early one morning, and happened to have a breakfast banner catch my eye. Instead of going to a fast food place, I figured, what the heck? Most BBQ restaurants in this area actually have really excellent breakfast, and some of them have the best biscuits around. I pulled into the parking lot and saw that I could order from my car for curbside, so decided to go that route. Called in my order for a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and a large half and half tea. First odd thing that happened... when I said large half and half tea, she said, "you mean, like a quart of tea?" Not really sure how to answer to this... I said, "Yes...?" And all seemed fine. My order comes out, and I had to have a little chuckle. I guess they dont have large to go cups for tea, but I absolutely HAVE TO HIGHLIGHT THE INGENUITY here. They took a quart size container and plastic lid they would usually put BBQ or slaw in, used a hole punch to make a straw sized opening, and filled it with ice and tea. That earned an extra star. I was very impressed. On the other hand, my biscuit... not great. Burnt on one side, overdone eggs, the bacon and cheese were ok. It was not the best effort I've seen, but I do applaud them for the effort on curbside and the large tea. I think I'd give them another try for a dine-in breakfast some day.

    Course chopped plate

So I tried Clark's today for lunch. The sweet tea was the best item that hit the table. Service was great. I had the course chopped plate. The Q was ok at best. It was dry but had plenty of smoke flavor. The red slaw tasted like straight ketchup not very good. Okra was good. The hush puppies were ok. The dip on the table saved the day for the Q. There are tons of options around the triad area for Q. Taste this for yourself you may love it just not my cup of tea. 4 star experience Service was great, order was correct, food was hot. I don't give bad stars for flavors of food unless it's just bad food. The experience was good just not the flavors I like.

We just happened by and thought BBQsounded good. This place is phenomenal! The service was friendly and fast. The menu has variety and the meat is pit-cooked on site. The sides are homemade and delish! We started with some mozzarella sticks. They were perfect & cheesy! I got the brisket with Lima beans and stewed potatoes. The brisket was tender and perfect. They serve a homemade sauce on the side. It was tangy and a little spicy! The hush puppies were perfectly fried! My husband had the pulled pork with crinkle cut fries and baked beans. The pork was tender and so moist. Again, sauce was served on the side. We shared an extra side of Mac & cheese. It was baked perfect. The meat for both was so flavorful that no sauce is needed, but the sauce was so good we had to use some! Definitely recommend!

Good food. Onion rings were top notch. Limas and Brisket were good too. Will definitely be back when I'm in town again.

I had the chicken fried chicken with sawmill gravy over mashed (the mashed taste boxed) but the gravy is very good. My daughter got the N.C. pulled pork and it was nice- very tender, good flavor. My husband got the burger- the chili was nice on it, but I found the burger itself to be small and nothing special. For the sides we had a ton of hush puppies, Mac and cheese AND Mac and cheese bites, the mashed (meh), Brunswick stew, baked beans and fries. The fries were a cut above the usual offering, really crisp and well seasoned. The stew was nice and the Mac and cheese was good both in the traditional way and the fried bites. I LOVE hush puppies and theirs are done in little rings which was different and good. We also tried three desserts- the pecan cheesecake, chocolate cobbler and banana pudding. The chocolate cobbler was the star to me, really rich and delicious like a half cooked brownie, topped with ice cream it was very delicious. The cheesecake tasted real and was nice but the praline topping was too sweet for me. The banana pudding was a nice version, very classic. The dessert prices are good for the portions you get too. This wasn't the best bbq I've had in the area but it was an enjoyable meal with a good value.

We continually had to drive around the building in search of a parking space. Several of our employees were from out of town, and they were concerned about getting towed. It took them over 20 minutes to find a parking space and another 15 minutes to walk to the restaurant, as the entire parking lot was full. Next, we ordered from their extensive menu, which offered plenty of options. The waitress was fantastic and the food was fresh. The place was packed but clean, and we weren't cramped in the building. For the amount paid for eight people, it was worth the visit and likely a revisit.

(3.25 stars) Casual dining may be declining nationally, but…read moreevidently Sixty Six Grill didn't get the memo. It's in that same TGI Friday's/Ruby Tuesday/Applebees tier, yet its full parking lot suggests brisk business. The location - it sits on a busy stretch of 66 - may explain some of that though Sixty Six isn't without other virtues. Spacious and well-staffed, Sixty Six isn't the kind of place where you'll have to wait long to find a table or receive food. It's dark and a bit noisy but not headache-inducingly loud. The menu is decently large, boasting everything from apps and wings to burgers and sandwiches to Tex Mex and pizza. There aren't any real surprises, but there's enough variety to accommodate most diets. For our lunchtime visit, my wife and I split a fried pickles app followed by a jalapeno burger (with sweet potato fries) and a Nashville chicken sandwich (with chips), respectively. Admittedly, the fried pickles didn't make for a very attractive-looking plate. Instead of golden brown pickle chips, there were thicker, lightly battered slices. However, they tasted just fine and paired well with a zesty dipping sauce. Speaking of zesty sauces, the chicken sandwich had it aplenty, and it made for a satisfyingly messy bite. The chips were homemade and rated above average. Unfortunately, Sixty Six overcooks its meats. Under all the sauce, the chicken itself was a bit dry. My wife ordered her burger medium well and received it well beyond well done. As with the chicken, it was still flavorful despite the doneness issues. On food alone, Sixty Six isn't a strong draw, but factor convenience and versatility into the mix, and it becomes a solid lunch option.
