Had a friend tell me about their pork loin sandwich so when I found myself close by, I had to give it a try. I used the drive thru so no food pic, sorry. The drive thru was pretty quick considering there were quite a few cars in line. Ordered the pork loin on a bun (biscuits are a choice as well). $5.50 total. I can deal with that. I ordered it plain for my first try. The pork was generously thick and breaded extending about an inch beyond the edge of the bun. The pork is very tender and easy to bite. It had good flavor. I guess when someone hyped a place, your expectations get easier. I mean, it was good but not life-changing. In retrospect, I will order this sandwich dressed next time. Probably with Mayo, salt, pepper, cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickle. My initial order showed me it was a good canvas to build on. I'll update on my next go-around. Definitely worth a try. Been going there weekly for breakfast many years. Their servings used to be plenty, but in recent years the portions have declined with prices increasing. This week they posted on the door $.50 additional charge per egg. Used to have almost more egg than you could eat, but lately the eggs are so thin you can almost see through them. Upcharge would not be such a deal if the portions were still what they used to be? They still have the best Tenderloin biscuit anywhere. read more

Disappointed that we paid almost 34 dollars for food we couldn't eat. Seriously the vinegar based sauce was so strong it would take your breath away. Few fries and pups for 34 dollars. Got a BLT and bacon was so hard it would crack teeth. I'm not doing this again. They are dip happy here and I'm not happy with their dipping dip on my food. I live here in town but will drive to Lexington for bbq. My stomach was bubbly after trying to eat what I could and had gas something awful from that wet meat. My husband told me to go change pants because I clearly sharted mine. Terrible terrible experience! If you wanna stay shartless at least don't get the gassy bbq plate. Prices are absolutely ridiculous. I went for a bacon biscuit and a tea and it was over $8. I can go to any other bbq restaurant and get it for $5. Also tie bacon was completely burnt to a crisp and they give a whopping 2 slices. I should have never went to somewhere besides my usual place. read more

The name, Barbecue Shack, evokes an image of a typical NC BBQ joint, with a gravel lot, worn building with a flat roof, and smoke rising from smoldering hardwood - not even close. This is a fast food setup, with a small, crowded paved lot on a busy street, with a drive thru, without wait service, and no sign of smoke. Seating area is madeup entirely of 2 sections of booths, all kind of worn and dated, as were the observed patrons. The menu is on the wall, with some daily specials handwritten along side. You get in line, place your order, pay, and wait there while the order is filled - several minutes at most, this is fast food. They fill the drink order at the counter, and there tends to be a lot of ice - you'll probably need a refill at some point. The cheeseburger special (with FF & regular drink) goes for $5.60, and the burger is very good, loaded with flavor. Frankly, the special really isn't worth it because the FF are dreadful, especially if your order is to go since the drink tends to be more ice than drink. The chili dog is just so/so - thin chili with an underlting sweetness, cost is $1.75. The Chopped BBQ sandwich is pretty good - this is typical Lexington style cue, moderately chopped with a touch of sweetness in the sauce, which is only lightly applied. The red BBQ slaw here is not at all bad, goes very well on the sandwich. The amount of barbecue on the sandwich is not large, but the sandwich overall is nice, priced at $3,30. The sandwich here reminds me of the one at Archdale Barbecue up the road. The Tenderloin Biscuit is huge, must weigh 3/4 of a pound or better (cost $3.25). It is heavily breaded and is nice & tender. Comes plain, so you need to tell them up front if you want mayo, etc. The biscuit itself is large, nice crust, tender inside, but has little taste, at least to me. Not a bad place for a quick sandwich (skip the FF and the chili dog) or breakfast biscuit. Service is efficient, if somewhat mechanical. read more

Horrible customer service, they don't care about repeat business. They treated a customer re entry that was a stoke patient like a dog, and embarrassed her in front of other customers. They got an order wrong and when someone else who works there told us to go back and show the receipt to get it replace STEVEN told the customer she got what she paid for and he didn't have time for her. Visited the restaurant at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, not a busy time for the business. While accepting the order, found my ticket had been up charged a due to the clear lack of attention through the drive through speaker. I was then met with very sour expressions by two young girls when in attempt to address the miscommunication. Management was contacted and informed me the situation would be addressed. Due to this not being the first instance I and a family member have experienced with these employees, this will be our last visit to the Barbecue shack. As frequent patrons of this establishments it is unfortunate the lack of service standards held for employees has led to this disappointing decision. read more

I love their gravy biscuits and a side of bacon that I normally get. I rarely eat there other than breakfast. Always friendly and quick service. I highly recommend this for a breakfast meal. The only thing I wish they would add is a TV in the corner and put it on the News Channel. read more

The Barbecue Shack, Thomasville. Private lot parking. Outside of the building looks ok. Big menu board on the left when you come in. You place an order and wait for it to come up. Then go sit down. For a long time they only took cash, but now they have finally started accepting cards. The menu was large with lots of choices. I visited for lunch, so I cant comment on breakfast. Service was ok. Nothing to write home about. BBQ sandwich had a lot of slaw and little BBQ. The slaw had a lot of vinegar. The actual meat, well there was barely enough to tell, but it was dry, and really as far as Q goes.. just not very good. Considering the competition in Lexington is so close you have to be on your game to do Q around here. And this aint it. Hush puppies were awesome. By far the best thing I had while I was here. I got a hotdog just to try. This was the nastiest hotdog I have ever got in a restaurant. The cheapest possible mush dog, boiled, non grilled bun. The slaw was the same over vinegared stuff, and the chili was ok. The actual dog. No. This thing made my stomach hurt all afternoon. Inside the dining area is trashy. The booths are worn with holes, and worn out springs. The floor had been cut out from front to back of the dining room, and bare cement slapped over it. Not very attractive. It looks like there were way more booths and tables at one time, but they have been removed?? Trash can was full and overflowing. Behind the counter there was trash on the floor, old food. I wouldnt come back here. If you want good Q go to Lexington. If you want a good hotdog, most gas stations have a better one than this. read more

They have super barbecue here, chopped or sliced, but also great burgers and dogs too. The breakfast menu is great and they have some of the best biscuits in town with the variety that should satisfy anyone. Nice people to be with and quick service in the drive-through or dining room. read more

Where do I start... the building has been updated and looks a lot better! If you live in the Triad area or visit it, do yourself a favor. Go to the bbq shack for breakfast. Hands down, one of the best breakfast joints in the area. The biscuits are always big and full. The staff are always welcoming and nice. If the drive thru line is long, just wait. It moves quick. If you need to be a little quicker, go inside to place your order. Front line staff move quick. They operate like a well oiled machine in this restaurant. My favorite breakfast sandwich is the country ham, egg and cheese on a bun. I'm not a big fan of biscuits so they happily put mine on a bun. They are really fast and very nice. They don't skimp on the country ham either. (See photo) The ham hangs off the sides. They also have a fantastic pork tenderloin biscuit and I love that with tomato and mayonnaise. The BBQ Shack is probably some 30 yrs old.When they first open my wife would bring home their biscuits. I know most people say a biscuit is a biscuit, butttttttttt let me tell you this. I've had one from about every kind of fast food joint up and down road since they started selling them. A morning biscuit from here taste like your momma's, no joking. Real bacon, the thick salty kind. Country Ham that you taste at the first bite!! Tenderloin that's breaded and is so tender. When you walk up to the counter to order you can see your biscuit made.I don't know how many biscuits the guy has put to gather but you could probably line them for miles down the road. They have all the other meats, these are just my choices. On Saturdays expect a line at the drive thru as at the counter. If you want lunch Their BBQ is not bad nor their hot dogs and burgers. I've learn that each Q joint is different. From the dip to the way it is cooked and served. I'm all so not quick to judge on the first bite.... No smoky taste, but its tender and has a good taste. Don't expect a fancy building or decor. The service is very good, and very friendly. Your food is in front of you as soon as you pay.. That's quick..Take cash no cards,and don't drop by on Sunday.
