Sweet Old Bills a staple spot that's been on our list to try for quite a while. We had a rare Friday evening off so ventured over there. First, we were greeted with very friendly service from the host stand to our server. We ordered our drinks and entrees after taking probably too long to look at the menu. The restaurant was getting busy. We shared the skillet cornbread and I ordered the smoked meatloaf. Something unique to me and it sounded delicious. It was super tender and I could definitely taste the smoky flavor. It was a generous portion and I ended up taking some home. The skillet cornbread was hot and fresh although not quite as sweet as I like.
Our waitress was one of a kind and super helpful! With a dairy allergy she was sure to check all of the ingredients and breads for me to make sure my order was okay with my allergen. This was SO greatly appreciated. My husband and I both ordered a burger. His was the basic plain burger, mine had chili and sale! I greatly enjoyed mine and the sweet potato fries. However, my husband was kind of disappointed that he couldn't order his burger to be cooked medium. Per the waitress they are all cooked well done, which is exactly what we received. I also would have liked it a little less done. Per the menu burgers are made to order, but per the staff this was not the case, which was slightly disappointing. Burgers with one side were about $13-15 each, which seems about average. However you could pay an additional $4 to double the meat on the burger!
We visited on Friday evening just as the dinner rush was starting. Our server was very friendly and efficient. It is on open concept however the booths are roomy and offered enough separation the noise level was not at all bothersome. We ordered our drinks and the onion dip appetizer and that was very good. For entrees we got the SOB burger and meatloaf sandwich. Both were very good and hand made patties. We had intended on ordering desert but were too full to order anything. Still had leftovers to bring home. The prices were reasonable.
My wife and I had a delicious lunch date there over the past weekend. The restaurant is very cozy and clean. The service was ok although they were a little slower than we would have liked in checking on things. We decided to split a few items to get a try of different foods. Their brisket nachos were phenomenal. The mixture of flavors was perfect and there was plenty of them to share. This could have been shared by 3-4 people without a problem. The pulled pork was flavorful on its own and even better with its sauce. The Mac and cheese was good but fairly standard. The sweet potato fries were crisp and had good flavor. The banana pudding for dessert was delicious and pretty generous portion.
I ordered the small smoked chicken, black eye peas & cheese grits. The chicken was seasoned good but was a bit DRY!! The black eye pea were good & did not taste like they were out of a can, the cheese grits were great too. The service was excellent. The restaurant had a cool vibe. Our service was good too.
Went here on a Sunday after church and enjoyed a good meal with friends. Definitely can see why it's a local favorite. My pulled pork plate was great and loved the tomato pie and Mac and cheese! It was all delicious & served nice and steamy. My pulled pork was a little more fatty than I prefer and pulled lots of big pieces of fat out. I tried my kids chicken tenders and they were flavorful and tender. We also all enjoyed some mimosas with brunch and it was perfectly mixed with OJ and champagne. Feel is definitely bar scene but good for a midday lunch with the kids! Service was good. Ambiance is nothing fancy but that's not what we were looking for. Look forward to more Sunday brunches here!
Only negative is really the price on some of their items but they follow suit with other BBQ joints. And the service tends to be hit or miss. Now, the biggest pull with this place and, I kid you not, their nachos is the best. I'd put it up against anything in the state! The most important thing is they don't stack it up (which is the dumbest thing), they lay it out wide and low so more toppings and cheese hit the chips. The flavors, the sauces, the combination of everything leads you to a mouthgasm! Anything with pork belly here is amazing. Their apps are great as well. Overall this place is a great spot and offers unique items to appease anyone. PRO-TIP: Add pork belly and brisket to your nachos. It's a full meal in itself and that comes from me
Service: Very friendly and knowledgeable. When I asked the waiter how the brisket was today he said it was coming out very juicy which is a good sign. I like that he was able to quickly provide a confident answer. The brisket was on point! Those were the best brisket nachos! (thanks Erik!). The fresh jalapeños were thick and spicy how I like them. The crème was a perfect balance. The chips were not soggy and delicious. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunch almost caramelized. The pork was good but better with the house BBQ. Yummy!! The Mac and cheese had a great creamy cheese texture which is great for little kids too. The ambience was also very cool. The floor still had the remnants of a garage. There was a nice breeze sitting at the concrete table top. While reviews say it's hit or miss, our visit was a definite hit!
Ordered the big boy combo with ribs and sliced brisket, corn pudding and sweet potatoes. Ribs were so overcooked I couldn't cut them apart. Brisket was a single slab sliced the wrong way, making it impossible to cut, and it was dry and overcooked. The sides were great. I won't be back.
Kind of a rough experience here. First off, I'll start by saying that we went on a Wednesday afternoon at about 2pm, so not many people were working at that moment. The service started off and continued to be really slow throughout our dining experience. We almost walked out unfortunately because it took almost 15 mins for a server to come over to us and ask for drinks and apps. Not a great start. We also had to move booths because the one we were sat at had duct tape all over it, which we then placed at another table that also had duct tape all over it. The two appetizers were off. In the crispy Brussels, there were actual lemon slices in there that were deep fried too, and if you weren't paying attention, you bit into one of those with a sprout and had quite the tart taste in your mouth. The vidalia onion dip had the weirdest consistency, I'm not sure about what the base was, but it just wasn't it. It didn't melt properly. Our sandwiches also were not up to par because the meat was super dry. Not ideal. Definitely won't be returning here. Sorry Bill
Food: 4 I ordered an original pulled pork sandwich for my meal. I thought it would come with BBQ sauce on it. The waitress did bring me two types of BBQ sauce. I had a side of fries that were a little too soft for my liking. For dessert, I ordered the Bundt cake, which is what raises my original score of a 3 to a 4. So soft and the taste was chef's kiss. Service: 4 stars I didn't get my servers name but she was very attentive, but checked in just a little too often for me. I had asked about one of the wine selections, but she couldn't answer the question as she told me she was only 18. Before ordering the wine, I had ordered a lemon drop martini. While the martini was half full, I decided I also wanted to take advantage of the 1/2 price wine deal. My server put the order in, then kindly told me she couldn't bring the wine unless the martini was returned or finished. Unsure if this is a NC thing or just a restaurant rule, but I appreciated the precautions the restaurant was taking with one person having multiple drinks Ambiance: 4 stars cute somewhat "western" feel. Has a nice open community vibe especially at the bar area, which I didn't sit at but will try another time
What a nice way to end 2024. While waiting for an order elsewhere to pick up, I stopped by SoB's for lunch. The service was stunning, back to the service I was use to. I am glad I gave Bill's a second chance after the non-service over the summer. The food was outstanding. The service was welcoming with frequent follow-up's. I look forward to going again. Please keep up the good work.
We made an impromptu visit to Sweet Old Bills on Monday Sep 9 for appetizers and drinks. Surprisingly it was a little busy for a Monday. It was our first time visiting and after reviewing the menu in advance it was great for what we were looking to eat. It was a little tricky finding the host stand because they have two entrances, the one facing Main Street and a side entrance from the parking lot. But it was obvious we were a bit turned around but it all worked out, btw..the host stand is near the parking lot entrance on the side. We ordered appetizers for the table which were shareable portions and adult drinks. We ordered the brisket loaded nachos, spicy smoke wings and the trio dip sampler. Everything was tasty and fine for a last minute get together for good food that wasn't too heavy. The place felt dark and it was dimly lit. It's definitely more of a place to hangout after work for drinks.
Recently went with friends on a Sunday morning to get brunch. We were seated quickly, with the option of indoors our patio seating, and since it wasn't too hot, we decided to take the patio. The waitress brough menus and waters, quickly, and gave us time to look things over. One thing I'll say, is it's time for them to get some new menus, the writing is rubbing off and parts of the menu are completely illegible. I was excited to get their brisket hash that I'd gotten several times in the past, but looking over the menu they no longer serve that, or any other "brunch items", this was a pretty disappointing discovery. I ended up getting their Bacon Pimento burger, which was good, and filling, just not what I had my heart set on. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but it wasn't exactly the brunch we were hoping for. I suppose we'll have to find a new brunch spot. read more
It was horrible. Bottom line, the food was inedible. My tomato pie was mushed into a bowl and our hush puppies were burned hard rocks. They didn't even have sodas that night! I took guests because I used to like this place but I found myself embarrassed for bringing them here. My advice, choose elsewhere. read more
Stopped in for dinner on Sunday evening on March 8, 2026. Enjoyed for the first time the Yardbird. Really delicious! Our waitress was friendly and service was quick. Been here a few times and it is always a staple place we eat when in High Point. read more

The food was absolutely fantastic! The waitress was very attentive and paid attention to our drinks and refills and anything we needed. The restaurant was way larger than it looks from the outside with plenty of room between tables and high backs to the booths to add privacy to your lunch date Will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

We have been discovering more of HP lately and we love it! Per a recommendation from a friend we stopped into Sweet Old Bills for lunch and I'm so so glad we did! The restaurant is quite large which was nice - it would have to be extremely busy for there to be a wait. We were sat promptly and our server was such a nice college student. She was bubbly, talkative, and helpful which is all we could have asked for. I got a margarita and while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was still good! We also got the nachos and crispy fried brussel sprouts for an appetizer. The nachos were piled high and I've never had a tempura fried brussel sprout before but now I never wanna go back! Not to mention the sauce on the side was a great accompaniment. My husband got the Cuban sandwich and said it was a little on the dry side - needs a sauce with it. I got the two meat combo plate and it was EVERYTHING. Both the chicken and ribs seasoned and cooked perfectly, my collards made just how I like them, the Mac and cheese creamy, and don't even get me started on the Alabama white sauce. I wanted to drink it! Next time we come I hope to have time to visit Brown Truck Brewery which is right next door and to try more of their expansive menu! read more

As Sweet Old Bill's is definitely a local favorite of mine, the wings are still my top pick the service last night was terrible. Our waiter was rude, kept ignoring us and when we finally were able to get him to pay us attention he was short and very passive aggressive. Do better. read more

I love a good bbq spot and this one delivered. My friend had recently ate here so when a someone mentioned we should go for dinner I was more than ready. They were packed because of a final 4 game but they were able to seat us right away because the restaurant is rather large. It was busy but service was pretty quick overall. We started with the crispy fried Brussels and the nachos with brisket and they were both incredible. For dinner I got the 1/2 chicken which was moist and delicious. I got collards and cucumber salad for sides and they were both winners. I want to go back for the Reuben because it looks incredible. read more

We finally stopped into Sweet old Bills. It's been here I think since the 80s?? It was very busy, filled with locals of all ages, and college students as well. The food was great. Comfort food for sure. Brunswick stew- was very good!! Ribs- we ordered a combo plate - the ribs were cooked perfectly. The sauce was not too sweet or spicy. Coleslaw- one of the best I've had. Cornbread skillet- GET IT!!! (Honey butter). Beer and cocktails available- the beers on tap looked like a good selection of NC breweries. We will for sure be back ! read more

Sadly ribs are only offered on the weekends. Which is what I wanted to try. The pork skins were good with ranch. (I'm not a cheese fan) The sweet potato fries were delicious! The greens were tasty. He said the Mac n cheese tasted like it belonged in a nursing home. Ehhhh...not one of the faves. read more
Visited SOBs again and enjoyed the pork nachos. Plenty of toppings but this time the nacho chips seemed a bit greasy? I don't remember that being an issue before so not sure why. Service was excellent as our server was very attentive. It's a bit loud inside and my husband has hearing loss in one ear so conversation was limited. Overall, friendly staff, good food and decent prices. We will be back. My usual fav is the jumbo wings! read more
Enh. We strolled in here while at the High Point Christmas stroll and sat at the bar. I ordered the mango cart beer (delicious!) and we ordered the pork skins to start because we love pork rinds. Some of them were good, nice crunch but about half were very hard, like crack a tooth hard and the cheese that came with it was bland, We wouldn't recommend this appetizer. For the meal I ordered the Goat burger and they let me sub the Mac n cheese for the fries. I had such high hopes but it was just an unseasoned meat patty with barely any flavor from the cheese or the jam. My husband had the Cowboy and that was a little better but not by much. Despite the disappointing food, the service was really good. Our bartender was friendly and it was a nice environment but we probably won't be back. read more
Just finished playing at a nearby kids' play park and boy were we HUNGRY! After doing a search for nearby highly rated places, we landed here. I was worried it would be way too packed to get seating at lunchtime given its full parking lot and bustle, but we were seated relatively quickly. And considering all the food we ordered, it came out relatively quickly too! I ordered ribs and hubby had a sampling of items from chicken, brisket and think ribs as well. The kids LOVED the brisket and the chicken was surprisingly well cooked too. I always find bbq chicken to be dry and lacking blended flavor throughout the bite, but it wasn't the case with this one. It was more validating that the kids actually ate a lot of the plate as well. Sweet potatoes and hush puppy sides were extra items we ordered and it's more or less what you'd expect. Overall, solid place we'd probably visit again! read more

My feedback for Sweet Bill's. We are not from the immediate area of Sweet Old Bill's restaurant, but had a sporting event in the area and looked at ratings on yelp and decided on Sweet Bills! When we walked through the door, no one acknowledged us! At least five employees walked past us, and never even acknowledged us, or said someone would be with us in a moment! After a short wait, a man walked up to us with a very exasperated expression on his face! We had our elderly grandmother with us and asked if we could be seated in a quiet booth in the corner and he immediately said no that'll be a 15-20 minute wait because that server doesn't have availability! so he then said that he had another booth across the restaurant in the you louder bar area available! We sat down, and I looked at the menus that were all sticky and dirty! A waitress who was also the bartender, walked up to us with no smile or welcome demeanor! That continued throughout the entire evening! We also felt very rushed by her! We placed an order after asking a few questions that she didn't seem to interested in answering, and our food finally arrived! You can tell a lot about a restaurants food by the quality of their side dishes. Case in point, it is obvious that Sweet Old Bills has no concern about the quality of their food. I ordered hush puppies and collard greens as my side. The hush puppies were over cooked in old oil, were tasteless and cold. The collard greens were too salty to consume. I had their pulled pork and smoked chicken. Both of the meats were cold, dry, overcooked and tasteless. If it wasn't for the barbecue sauce on the table it would not have been edible. When we ordered the chicken, we were under the impression, based on the menu's description, that we would be getting a 1/2 chicken not cut up little bite-size pieces of chicken. When we were ready to ask for the bill, we inquired about their desserts, she said that the banana pudding and peanut butter pie was very good! We ordered them to go! The entire drive home I anticipated my slice of peanut butter pie or what I thought was going to be a slice, of their peanut butter pie. When I lifted the container out of the bag, I couldn't believe how light it was! This was no slice of pie ...this serving was barely a sliver. Maybe 3 or four bites, at best, for $8 price tag...absolutely ridiculous. As we walked to the restroom, we noticed how filthy the restaurant was and then when we went inside the restroom, we were even more disgusted! Don't waste your money or your time. Find somewhere else to eat. read more
