More of the same at Full Moon, and that includes both the positive and negative aspects. The raw oysters I got weren't the largest I've ever had, but as flavors go they were as good as any I've had in North Carolina. And unlike the folks at Kings Crab Shack, the people working here actually know how to shuck an oyster the right way, so the experience of eating them isn't tedious. I get that Full Moon certainly gets busy, but sometimes the quality of service here descends below what seems reasonable for crowded venues. The wait staff often seems to lose track of who they've taken care of, who still needs attention, and how to make the most of their time. A little direction and attention to detail would go a long way towards taking better care of customers. My most regrettable decision from my recent visit? The jambalaya. This is not jambalaya at all. It's shrimp and tiny little shreds of chicken in a spicy marinara sauce, with a few spoonfuls of rice added. Calling this jambalaya is criminal, and I myself felt guilty by association from the first bite. Do not order this. Don't let anyone you know order it. Jambalaya out of a can is a more accurate representation than this. I've argued in the past that it would only take some reasonable competition from another oyster bar to squash Full Moon, but we still don't have a worthy competitor in Winston. On the oyster game alone, FMOB does pretty well, but in other respects I simply find myself frustrated by this place. read more

Such a fun place to have a bite to eat - it's a giant bar basically! Service is a little hit or miss but they are attentive and friendly when they tend to you but took awhile to get someone's attention at times. The shrimp boil was ridiculously delicious as was my friend's salad but the clam chowder was a giant miss for both of us. It tasted like beef not clams - was strange. I love oysters - raw or cooked - steamed, fried, stewed, grilled, poached, Rockefeller, stew or chowder, baked in a casserole - amazingly versatile shell fish! My absolute favorite way to eat them is either raw or steamed, preferably both at the same time, definitely an option here! But their version of Oysters Rockefeller (Moon Rockers) is also a great way to go. And on this visit I stayed strictly with the Rockers - 2 orders, 10 oysters, pricey at $13 per order! But then again, there is not much at an oyster bar that is inexpensive! While I enjoyed this visit, it is not something I would do often - partly due to the cost, and partly due to the seating. I noticed the reviews were fantastic for this seafood restaurant in Clemmons. So had to check it out. Took my cousin there for her birthday. Started off with 1/2 peck (25) fresh raw oysters. Choice of two side dishes. Oh my so yummy. I ordered the entree Seafood Risotto. Creamy Risotto with shrimp, scallops, lobster. Cousin ordered the Blacked Salmon. Both choices were so good. I have eaten at 2 different Full Moon Oyster Bar restaurants several times over the years and always enjoyed the food. I found myself nearing the Clemmons exit on I 40 late yesterday afternoon & took the opportunity to stop for some good seafood. I was right, the food was good, I have no complaints there. It was "Crabby Tuesday" so I ordered one of their specials...1 1/2lbs of snow crab legs served with crab bisque potatoes and coleslaw. I feel the service and attention to the customer has slipped. I had to ask for the coleslaw after I was about half through with my meal. I didn't get any cocktail sauce or horseradish but dig get one small container of melted butter. I let the cocktail sauce & horseradish pass but had to ask for another container of melted butter. I ordered water with lemon and that glass was never refilled (I was there for approximately 45 min). Also I had to ask for wet wipes after the meal. So far the food was a positive but the service could definitely improve. So, normally I'd rate my experience 4 stars. But then I got my bill & saw that I was assessed a 20% tip with a line below for optional additional tip. I paid the check with the 20% included, but I will not return. This policy of automatically including a tip does nothing but encourage mediocre performance (service). This is one of our favorite spots, and definitely our #1 seafood restaurant in the area, that's why I was so excited that my sister picked for her birthday dinner. Even though we were a group of 7, our server came over right away and asked us to give her a few minutes to put an area together for us. This is hard to do because the set up is like a horseshoe shaped bar and it's 1st come, 1st serve. Usually it's hard to get more than 4 seats together. Within minutes she had us set up and seated. Our drink order was taken right away, followed by our dinner order. They always automatically bring you out a small plate of their semi smashed red potatoes, so soft and tasty. Not mashed but not whole either, just perfect. I got a bowl of NE Clam Chowder which never disappoints. Creamy, with sliced soft potatoes and whole pieces of clams, delectable. I was asked if I wanted half New England & Half Crab bisque but I unfortunately declined. My sister got it and let me try it, I quickly regretted not getting it. It gave it this little extra flavor and spicy kick that worked. I also got the Moon Rockets, which is their take on Rockefeller Oysters. As always, super fresh oysters and a creamy spinach baked on top, succulent. I also ordered a dozen steamed clams and ending up adding them to my wife's order of Seafood Mornay. A creamy penne pasta with large shrimp and scallops plus veggies in an Alfredo sauce. I tried some there and had the leftovers the next day and it was still as good as it was at the restaurant. My daughter got a crab dip that came with a huge loaf of bread. She loved it and I believe her. Everyone was happy with their orders and bar drinks. The service was on point and impeccable. There was four of us, also ordered was a wedge salad with shrimp, a pound of steamed shrimp, a ahi tuna and calamari. All we're spectacular. All that , 6 drinks and bill was under $150. Full Moon Oyster Bar is a great place for fresh oysters, multiple seafood dishes, appetizers and salads. They have several beers on tap with some brewed on site, bottled beer and a full bar. You enter into a bar in a separate smaller room. The night we visited there they had live music in this area. The next room is the oyster bar. All the seating is around a really large bar where they shuck the oysters. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and all the servers were friendly. We will definitely be back. Me and my mom stopped by Full Moon Oyster Bar for dinner a few nights ago. I got the low country shrimp boil and it comes with a side of potatoes. The shrimp were large and decently seasoned. The boil came with shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn, and a slice of bread. The sausage and shrimp were pretty good but the rest was not the best. The potatoes in the boil were undercooked and hard and the corn was bland with no seasoning. I've been here a few other times and the food was better so I'm thinking it was just an off night. Also, I think since oysters are their specialty, that's what I'd recommend getting. I personally don't like oysters so that's why I opted for shrimp but everyone I've came with that's got them say they are very good! read more

The crab dip was delicious and came with fresh bread. The oysters were incredibly fresh and tasty. I could share one pound of shrimp with someone and still had leftovers to take home. Calamari had a nice crunchy texture, and it also had a sweet spicy sauce. Overall, I highly recommend Full Moon Oyster Bar for their seafood and drinks. The pina colada was pretty tasty, too. At first, Full Moon seems unimpressive because of the long wait, but the food is good. I met a friend there, and it was a long wait on a Sunday afternoon. I don't like to wait, but we got seated. We had some drinks. I ordered the shrimp and grits. They were very good. Very tasty and fresh shrimp. And my friend got fish. So yeah, we didn't get oysters, but either way, our meals were good. So were the drinks. The servers were friendly and attentive. The ambience is kind of like a beach restaurant, lots of beach memorabilia all around. This place had been on our master list of places to try since before we moved down here from NY two years ago. We finally made here and it was really nice! We got the crawfish and alligator cheesecake and I would say this is your must try item here. Very unique, very tasty. We also got two varieties of their oysters, the crab dip ones and the blue cheese ones. I found both of these to be fine, okay, good... not mind blowing. I would like to try just plain chargrilled ones in the future. We also got the lobster and crab nachos- these were messy, tasty, the chips themselves were great. Found a few bits of nice sized lobster and crab pieces however I feel like overall the crab and lobster are lost in this dish. It was super tasty but it wasn't "about" the seafood, in my book. We also got a few cocktails which were super nice. They have a full bar service available. They also give you complimentary potatoes and Cole slaw. I found the slaw pretty basic and so were the potatoes but in a comforting kind of way. This place is definitely worth a visit, we would come back again and try more of their dishes! read more

We went here on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration. There were a few other parties but every party was spaced out evenly (due to covid) and they made sure they didn't go over capacity. Our bartender (Rhonda) was spectacular - lots of great energy and was attentive to our needs. She got our hot sauces, lemon wedges, water - whatever we needed right away. They shucked the fresh oysters in front of us and the chargrilled oysters were bubbling and sizzling fresh off the grill when they were served to us. Oysters were delicious, and the chargrilled ones were perfectly seasoned with cheese and the garlic butter sauce. We also had the potato and coleslaw sides which remain the same solid flavors years after I first came here. The service was friendly, funny and not rushed. They are very attentive, kind, and down to earth. They have lots of specials with both drinks and food. I went on a Tuesday and they had a "Crabby Tuesday" special which included multiple crab legs deals, and a special on Corona. If you're into beer, it appears that they brew some of their own. They also have a pretty solid list of signature cocktails, plus a full bar. We ordered 3 appetizers. Crab dip, which came out piping hot, with French bread. As a crab dip connoisseur, this isn't the best dip I've had, but it's still enjoyable. Also enjoyed the Moon Rockers, which is Full Moon's take on Oysters Rockefeller. Broiled with spinach and cheese! We also indulged in a peck of fresh oysters on the half shell. The crab legs here are very succulent and meaty! Served, of course, with butter to dip. All the entrees come with complementary slaw and red skin potatoes. I could eat 10 bowls of the potatoes. The slaw isn't the best I've ever had, it's fairly sweet but still good with the potatoes. The shrimp and grits comes with a fried grit cake, as opposed to just creamy grits which I really liked. It added something extra with the texture which stood up well against the cheesy cream sauce. The andouille in there is a nice touch! I personally would've liked more, but to me, there's never enough andouille. There are 2 steak options and one chicken option that I recall for non seafood fans, but not a ton of variety outside of the seafood. Just something to be aware of! Overall Full Moon is a fun joint for an array of seafood options and a place to hang out and have a drink in a relaxed environment! read more

Menu is multi page and small print. Not well organized. Had to ask about specials. Never got the shrimp cocktail appetizer. It was removed from the bill. Never understood what was included with the two entrees ordered. Cole slaw and dishes of some sort of red potatoes came out way before the actual entrees. One entree didn't get the sides requested. It had another heaping pile of the red potato thing. It was cold. The house salad was generous piles off carrots, tomatoes, red onions, with croutons, shredded cheese and candied pecans. Would have enjoyed that if there was some room on the plate to toss and move it without it falling off onto the bar. And this is, as the name says, bar dining only. No tables. Crab legs were very disappointing. Very clean, but stringy. No nice pieces of crab from the legs. The service was friendly. And when asked for a seafood pick for the crab legs, one was located. Surprised that something like that was so hard to find in a seafood place. Way overpriced, even for seafood, in the environment. Save your dollars for this type of expensive experience when you are that beach. read more

My friend and I got the Full moon which serves 2, includes shrimp, oysters, scallops, clams and crab legs, switched out the crabs legs for more scallops . Comes with slaw. They also give you these amazing steamed and seasoned potatoes. They are so good and I'm sure full of butter. So good and creamy. This is a great deal for $45. We got over a dozen huge oysters ...so good and fresh like I said. The shrimp were steamed and seasoned. Peeled and deveined! Also pretty big. The scallops also great, tender, . Clams I'm not a fan, but my friend said we're ok. Amazingly great meal. Also on the table we had the crawfish alligator cheesecake, yes I know, lots of crawdaddies, alligator and veggies, covered in a creole mustard sauce, savory and creamy. Not sure I could eat this whole thing, but it's definitely decadent and buttery! Salad and she crab soup, also got a thumbs up. The shrimp scampi looked scrumptious, and every bit of it was gone! She loved it, huge shrimp, lots of garlic butter on top of angel hair pasta. served with garlic bread. The special was sea bass served with broccoli. Another great dish, great serving too. Lastly the lemon raspberry cake , homemade was divine, three layers, very lemony cake and great raspberry filling. Lots of buttercream on top too.
