The food always tastes fresh!! Tonight I had a small box of bone-in croaker & jumbo shrimp. DELICIOUS! I don't like a heavy batter so I get mine salt & peppered - much lighter. It's been a while since I ate in, but when I have the service is great and it's never overcrowded. read more

The food is good and served hot. The hostess and wait staff are pleasant and fast. They have the freshest fish and shrimp.

My favorite place to eat when on vacation and visiting the area. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I don't recommend this place they are very disrespectful and the food is nasty . CLOSE NOW!! !!!!

1st time and food was good. Arrived at 4pm shortly after it opened. Service was good too. Will return. read more

We're back at Skipper's Seafood! We love this restaurant. It's clean. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I ordered the senior's popcorn shrimp with baked potato and my husband got the seniors flounder with french fries. Both came with slaw and hush puppies. Both were delicious ( we shared). read more

Food is sometimes over cooked, need to check the grease. One of the servers always have a attitude. Eating in is best carry out needs work parking is terrible getting in and out be careful cars moving so fast read more

Mediocre place that had good specials on weekdays. We'd get takeout every thursday that would be 30-40 bux not bad. Well recently all specials were taken off the board and our $33 bill was $70. Ummm no, this is a MEDIOCRE at best place with kinda old tasting grease. Hell I can buy FRESH and cook at home for $50. read more

nice sized portions love their tartar sauce... think the best in high pt... tho flounder/catfish was a bit too greasy for me personally... but still tasted good.. next time i'll choose baked/broiled... having ibs fried is not always wise... but i highly!!! reccomendthem. read more

It was just "ok". Service was ok. Food was ok. Ambiance was ok. I might try it again. They have a large seafood menu.

Great food. People are super nice. I had the flounder and okra. I'm stuffed. Highly recommend.

Had lunch there today, and came away disappointed, for a variety of reasons. I had read reviews talking about the large portions, but I didn't experience that. My combo of trout and oysters came with 1 piece of trout and 9 oysters. The oysters were kind of funky tasting, so I left most of them. Both the trout and the oysters had an under taste - perhaps old oil was the reason. My wife's daily special of Baby Flounder and Popcorn Shrimp was not much better. There were a lot of small fried pieces in the popcorn shrimp that were not full size shrimp, that's for sure. The flounder was thin and dry - overcooked. Both had the same underlying strange taste. The fries were the rectangular, ridged kind that have no potato taste. Slaw was decent, hush puppies perhaps the best part of the meal - never a good sign. Total with 2 drinks was a little over $21 - definitely not cheap, and not worth it a half the price. Will not need to update this review. read more

Tons of food. Massive serving sizes. Great taste! Fried seafood platter was outstanding. It was cooked to perfection. This was much more food than any one person should eat. After digging through about 8 inches of shrimp, scallops, and fish I revealed a layer of french fries and hush puppys. Parents had "Baby Whitefish." It was good too. What's whitefish you ask? Like little halibut, tiny halibut. Very white. Very mild. Service was great. Waitress was on top of our every need. Setting and atmosphere is very typical southern seafood place. Nothing fancy. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Great food period. Seafood is the specialty of the house but don't hesitate to try the beef items as well. Well worth the trip. Use your GPS. read more

We went to Skippers tonight and the food was good ( what we got of it). We both ordered large flounder plates with popcorn shrimp. There were two pieces of flounder and around 20 hush puppies and maybe 10 popcorn shrimp. I went to the front and asked if that was (Supposed to be a large plate) she said yes. She did go get probably 15 more shrimp. From now on we will just go to American Roadhouse and get a real large serving. The price was too large for a little plate of food. The only thing large about that plate was the plate, not the food. read more

Done in is back! Yay! Missed that great fresh fish and shrimp flavor and all the wonderful staff! Best if the best. Ssshhhh-don't tell anyone! :) read more

Real fried food (fish, shrimp oyster and more), the amount of food you get for the price you can't beat it.

I ordered a ribeye steak and chicken the steak was very thin the chicken was good but i paid 22.00 for one plate that wasn't worth it i could of got a better plate for a couple more dollars somewhere else that would be worth the money if you want your money worth go somewhere else not good at all read more

Friendly service and good food. I think they are fast and ensure your food is done correctly. Very good seafood for the area. I mainly get flounder and clam strips strips. Never a disappointment. Pleasant and Clean read more

We ate dinner here this past weekend and thought that the prices are way too high. We both got a drink and a 3 item combo and it was $28.XX. I am blown away that someone would think that the portions are small here. I mean, we could have split one combo plate and still left satisfied. We ended up leaving food behind on our plates because it was too much. I had Flounder, Deviled Crab and Shrimp and wished I would have gotten only flounder. The shrimp were over cooked and the Deviled Crab was lacking taste and crab! I would not recommend getting either of those here. We had a nice waitress and everything seemed to be prompt and quick as far as the time it took to get our food/refils/etc.... The only thing that I will say is that the hush-puppies here are awful. Some were so hard you couldn't eat them while others were okay. It may be because we came in around 8:30pm and there weren't many customers in at that time. I actually think they closed earlier than the posted hours due to being slow. Would I come back?? Maybe. I think I may try them out during an earlier hour and see how that goes. Then I may update this review. read more

Was in town for a visit with family and was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised by this place. The waitress(her name slips my mind at the moment) was very nice and helpful without being annoying. The food was good and the feel of the place was welcoming. We ate there Fri., 08/15/2019 and seated about 5:40pm. The food was good, the service good, and the prices reasonable. However I do have several comments. First, the batter on the onion rings needs improving. The texture and taste are nothing short of a slightly seasoned light colored paste. Secondly, the "New Addition" of crabmeat stuffed jumbo shrimp is totally inaccurate. Hats off to the chef and his/her ability to butterfly a one inch piece of shrimp and deposit a tablespoon of crabmeat stuffing on top. By the way the crabmeat stuffing was way too salty. read more

If you're looking for good seafood at a low price, then look no further! Was just driving by to waste time and saw this place out of the corner of my eye. I decided to stop by, not expecting much. It's a pretty quaint place with some nice decor, but I didn't expect much because it was empty. Let me tell you, this little shack has seafood done right! I decided to get the special, which was the trout and popcorn shrimp. Probably the best introduction to trout I could've had. The batter was light and the trout was tasty, if a bit bland. The shrimp had the same wonderful batter and was cooked beautifully. Love how it was not only the trout and shrimp, but the special came with some quality sweet slaw and hush puppies that were pretty tasty. And all for under $10! To top it all off, the waitress was the nicest I could've gotten and seriously deserved more than the 30% tip I gave. All in all a quaint little seafood shack that has much better food than I expected. Definitely will stop by again! read more

The best place in High Point to get sea food. always fresh and plenty to eat. small sweet hush puppies are a real treat. baked sweet potato, yum. whole fried flounder my favorite. love it all Polly F. read more

The Flounder is consistently overcooked and thin. I thought I would give them one last chance tonight and that's it. $11 for 4 shrimp, which were good, and essentially fried flounder skin. Poorest excuse for a piece of fish I've ever seen. If you want good quality fish don't go here read more

Worst seafood restaurant in High Point. Don't know why I keep going back. just hoping it will be better next time but it never does. ordered shrimp and tilapia used to be 12.00 now 15.00 with less on the plate. would not let me change out the hushpuppy's for a extra coleslaw. so i didn't get the hushpuppy's. when i got home i noticed that the fish was raw on the inside so i didn't eat it. So i paid 15.00 for a hand full of salad shrimp. if you want great seafood go to the seafood shack in Kernersville. skip the skippers for good. read more

This is a wonderful seafood place! I always get the broiled Alaskan whitefish and have NEVER had a bad meal! When I don't want carbs, I order the green beans and they are great! Tons of food. Been going here for 10 yrs and yet to be disappointed! read more

This can be a good place to eat, but don't get the sweet tea unless you want tea that tastes bitter like it has been sitting around for several days. Also apparently they don't know how to bake a potato without burning them. The shrimp is passable though. I keep giving them another chance, but it's getting difficult especially when you get a waitress that doesn't want to earn her tip. read more

I recently went to Skippers just before closing and the white fish was a bit over cooked as if it had been in the warmer too long as well as the fried oysters. I know not to ever go at 9:30p anymore. read more

If I could put no stars I wud. This place is so nasty. I waited 35 minutes for a flounda and shrimp plate. Charged me 11.95 for a sorry ass piece of hard flounder and some soft nasty breaded shrimp!!!! Gave me 50 hush pups and maybe 7 fries. Do not recommend. Also saw a small roach on my table. I should not have paid for this food. This place should be shut down immediately!!!! Also asked to speak to the manager and was told she could not be found???? How does the manager get lost when such a disaster is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Poor management. Poor wait staff. Disgusting food. Please get rid of this place before some1 gets sick!!!!!!!! read more

The food is ok and the portions are starting to get better but why is their a $0.15 charge for take out meals. I have never gotten a receipt before but asked for one this time and WOW. Then after getting my food my chicken strips taste like it was fried in the same oil with the fish. May not be back there. read more

we went on a Saturday night [last night] thinking they would be busy and the food would be hot and fresh. Our food came out looking fairly good but the flounder was dry and the oyster's were greasy. The service was pitiful and when I went to pay no one bothered to ask if we enjoyed it . I understood why when the door to the kitchen opened and I saw sheet pans of fish fried up waiting to be heated back up in the fryer and served . By far the worst dining experience in High Point , pitiful ! read more

I haven't been to Skippers in several years, and after my recent visit, it will be several years before I go again. I ordered a larger 3 item combination of oysters, scallops and fish. When my order came, I had 3 tiny overcooked oysters, 4 scallops, and a small piece of fish. When I complained to my server, she took the plate back to the kitchen. When she returned, the had added 3 more tiny overcooked oysters, and 1 more scallop to the plate. I don't mind paying well for good food, but I was greatly overcharged for what I got. Probably will not every return. Suggest you find somewhere else to eat seafood. read more

Ok,yes, the food is very good no doubt, but whoever said the portion's are large,i dunno where they ate,but it was not here.Their price's are way too high.I can remember eating there about 7 year's ago,and on thier fried platter, they gave 2 piece's of flounder, now they give you one and down-sized the plate as well.Don't think i did'nt notice that Skippy. And of course, thier plate's got smaller, and the price's got higher.Be prepared to shell out at least 30 bucks for 2 people. It's just not worth it,i will go buy fish at a cheaper price, and make it at home next time. read more

I have eaten here before, but today I stopped by for lunch. I had the baby flounder lunch special and a glass of tea. There were 3 small, over cooked pieces of fish, a dozen french fries, a small cup of slaw, and a pound of hush puppies. Pretty bad special for a total of $10.41. A $1.99 for tea? Really? Skipper's was the #1 seafood restaurant in town at one time, now it's just another fish house. I was very disappointed with the meal and the price, but the waitress was very kind and attentive.
