I almost skipped it entirely because raw fish just is not my thing. Smoked salmon, yes. Raw seafood, usually not happening. Then I noticed they had cooked poke bowls and customizable options, so we gave it a shot. The food hall was not busy when we visited, so service moved quickly. After ordering, they handed us a buzzer and our food came out fast. We ended up getting everything to go. I ordered the large Strawberry Blossom tea refresher. It had a really good fruity flavor, although it started out a little sweeter than I like. I added some extra ice and that fixed it immediately. My daughter got the Peach Paradise tea refresher, and hers was excellent from the first sip. Both drinks were large and definitely worth the price. We shared the Firecracker Roll, and they had no problem adjusting the spice level for us. Normally it comes with spicy tuna and spicy sauces, but they toned it down without making a big deal about it. The roll came with ten pieces, topped with fresh tuna instead of the spicy tuna, crunchy bits, scallions, and sauce. Plenty for two people to split, and we still brought a couple pieces home. It was delicious! For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Poke Bowl from the cooked menu section. I am glad I spotted that menu because it completely changed my mind about eating there. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. The vegetables were crisp, the rice was cooked right, and the sauces pulled everything together without making the bowl heavy. I upgraded to the fried chicken for an extra dollar. The breading did not stay on perfectly, but that was a small issue compared to how good the bowl tasted overall. Even the bites without chicken were good enough to stand on their own. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. My daughter built her own poke bowl, which honestly looked like the fun option. You go down the line choosing your base, proteins, mix-ins, sauces, toppings, and crunchy add-ons. There were a lot of choices, but it still felt simple and easy to follow. Everything looked fresh, colorful, and made to order. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and organized. The staff stayed friendly, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe. It was a bit pricey, but I think worth it. This place definitely earned a return visit from me, especially considering I almost walked past it because of the raw fish focus. Poke Dream is open until 9:30pm daily so that's plus. That said, we were also skeptical of how good a poke restaurant in High Point could be at that hour. Turns out, pretty decent! This is a small place that's mainly designed for takeout. They do have indoor dining with seating for 15, maybe 20 people. During our visit, the space was clean and brightly lit. There was a TV in one corner and a couple anime scrolls (e.g., Sailor Moon) that decorated the walls. The space has been renovated and modernized from what it used to be. Poke Dream opened in November 2023 and is located in the Office Depot shopping center (Peters Plaza IV) on Eastchester Dr. It's in the old Dragon City Chinese takeout restaurant space. My Salmon Oasis bowl came with salmon, spicy salmon, avocado, edamame, sweet corn, and cucumber with spicy poke and yummy sauces plus tempura flakes, sesame seeds, and nori strips (dried seaweed) on top. My wife got double salmon and assorted ingredients including avocado and crispy onion. There are four bases to choose from: white rice, sushi rice, brown rice, and salad. We both got sushi rice. I was impressed by both the number of ingredients offered and the freshness and quality of the ingredients, particularly at the time of our visit. Our bowls were tasty and well balanced, and they really hit the spot for what we wanted at the time. If anything, our bowls were a bit on the sweet side, but I wasn't complaining. It probably had to do with the combination of the sushi rice and sauces. For food in High Point, I was happy. Service was attentive and speedy. There were two Chinese guys who mainly hung out in the back, behind the curtain. They operated this place like a well-oiled machine. We dined in and I was very comfortable inside. I also got a refreshingly cold bottle of Diet Coke ($1.95) from the self-serve drink fridge. We only saw one other customer during our brief visit -- a food delivery driver picking up an order. In addition to poke bowls, Poke Dream serves ramen, udon, various Asian appetizers and snacks (e.g., gyoza, tataki, shumai, and even cha siu bao), and mochi ice cream.
