Nice house salad with Shrimp Sauce
Fred B.

On my last visit here, I tried the Tempura Shrimp ($9), followed by the Habachi Shrimp & Scallop Combo ($22.99) - this place is not inexpensive, but there's a lot of food on your table. I also chose a Kirin, my favorite Japanese beer, and a value at $4. The combo comes with Onion Soup and House salad, for which I chose the Shrimp Sauce rather than the somewhat different Ginger dressing. The soup and salad were out quickly, and both were very nice! The Tempura was up next, 4 large shrimp, nicely breaded, perfectly cooked. The veggies- onion rings, carrot, squash, and Zucchini - were just like the shrimp, simply perfect - the well sized onion rings were truly exceptional. The Hibachi was a bit slow out of the kitchen, but like all that preceded it, quite exceptional, and plentiful - there is a theme building here, and I approve. The Hibachi combo was very well sized, the shell fish totaled over 25 items, the shrimp about two to one ratio. Both items were fresh, tender, and flavorful, nicely cooked, lightly sauced. The veggies were broccoli, sliced white onion, zucchini, mushrooms, the ever present sweet carrots, and some green bell pepper. These also were fresh tasting, loaded with flavor, not the least overcooked, and also lightly sauced, except for those sweet carrots, awful stuff - and true at each place where I've had Hibachi. I've not had a better meal at a Japanese restaurant in the triad, and I've tried most of them. The service is impeccable, the folks attentive, pleasant, and engaging. The attractive ambiance is simply the icing on the cake. Ambiance - 4.5 Food - 5 Service -5 Value - 4.5

Why hasn't everyone been here?? The sushi is delicious, but the service is beyond top-notch. This is a great spot that needs more love. Food is fresh and delicious. Don't skip out!!

First of all i am very picky about my white sauce at any Japanese restaurant, theres is very very good. The service is nothing short from amazing, very respectful and caring staff. The cozy vibe i got from this place mace me so happy, 10/10 i am definitely coming here again.

Chicken and shrimp hibachi

I've been coming to this restaurant for years, even when it was formerly called Shiki's but it's been a while since my last visit. Last night we got an appetizer of the crab and cream cheese wontons, I was not a fan because there was a lot of green onions inside. For entrees we got the teriyaki shrimp and chicken. With the hibachi entrees you always get a miso soup and salad. The miso soup here is my absolute favorite! & the salad is simple but the shrimp sauce makes it delish. The chicken and shrimp were cooked very well and you can tell it's actual real chicken. We also got a sushi roll, the "Yum Yum" roll which is spicy crab, cream cheese and cucumbers. I really enjoyed it and the spice level was perfect, just enough for the flavor but not so hot it was unbearable. I also really enjoyed the sauces on top. Unfortunately our service was pretty slow. You could tell they were short staffed so we felt bad, our waiter was doing his best with many tables and multiple large parties. We were not in a hurry so it wasn't a problem just something to keep in mind if you are looking for something quick! The food has always been enjoyable here and is what keeps us coming back, however mostly for takeout!

Hibachi steak and scallops

We tried out this place tonight and we love Japanese food so I was excited! We went there a little earlier than normal so Luke didn't bother anyone. The boys got chicken tenders and I ordered hibachi steak and scallops. The good presentation was nice. And it tasted okay. The carrots tasted like they came from a can which is fine. The rice wasn't dry which was a nice change and the salad was fresh. The service was friendly. I felt like it was a little pricey. We paid more here than we did for four of us to eat where they cook in front of you. But overall it was an okay experience. The food was good.

Great food but rice portion wasn't enough for the entree - hibachi chicken only rice & hibachi chicken with shrimp and mixed veggies so we asked for an extra side. We ordered sushi and was told it would be a long wait which was no big deal we didn't mind waiting. But then others started getting their sushi orders before us that had ordered after us. Our waiter came to our table maybe 3 times max and we were there for almost an hour and a half.

Sushi combo, taste was decent but the rolls were pretty small.

I've recently started working in this area, and have been to Shiki a couple of times with coworkers, and so far... I think the three star rating is pretty accurate. Both my experiences have been fine, but nothing exceptional or memorable. Prices are fine, neither good or bad, food is ok, service is efficient but not particularly friendly... it's like everything here is stuck in the middle. Ultimately, food is what matters most to me, and I'd say that if other people wanted to go to Shiki... I would go without complaint, but I don't think I would suggest it myself. I have had both the hibachi food and the sushi, with the hibachi fare being a little better than the sushi for my tastes. The sushi does taste nice and fresh, but the rolls are smaller than what I'm used to. Even after three rolls, I still left pretty hungry. Overall, I'm pretty indifferent. It's close by, my coworkers like it, I'm sure I'll be back. Cheers!

Since they changed from Shiki it is not the same. Food tastes different. Just not as good. Probably won't be going back.

Quick food, good food. The owner is a small, younger lady covered in tattoos. She calls every man over 20 "daddy." Weird, but entertaining.

Every time we move somewhere new, the first thing I do is look for a good Japanese restaurant. The person at the window was very kind and friendly, and made sure our order was correct before driving away. A first for a drive thru and it made our customer service experience much better. Veggie dumplings were good and had a nice sear to them, with juicy tasty filling these are good. The Yellowfin Poke, another good choice for us, a decent serving of succulent tuna with seaweed and a lite coating of seasame oil tossed with some seeds. The California roll was classically prepared and true to type. A decent roll with nice flavor and proportions. The Shrimp with mushrooms and broccoli, again a decent portion with lots of tender whole shrimp, sauteed mushrooms and steamed broccoli. This is a good meal as well, nicely prepared and good flavor. Then for dessert, we tried the Tempura fried Cheesecake, a decadent treat and interesting twist to cheesecake. Batter dipped and flash fried to golden brown, with a chocolate drizzle. Enough to share, and very rich. 4 Stars - great customer service, worth a visit and your support. 01103

The salad was simple, but the ginger dressing had nice flavor. The soup, though, really missed the mark for me. I've had a lot of clear broth soups like this from many different Asian restaurants over the years, and I don't want to sound mean at all, but this was probably the weakest one I've ever had. The broth tasted cloudy, there were some odd floaty bits in it, and I did find a hair in mine, so I wasn't able to eat it. For my main meal, I ordered the filet and chicken hibachi/teriyaki combo. The vegetables and sauces were very good, but the chicken and steak were a little chewy, and the fried rice was slightly firm. Overall, the entrée had good flavors, but it was a mix of ups and downs. I still really appreciated the kindness and hospitality from the staff, and I do plan to go back and give them another try because the service was great and there were parts of the meal I did enjoy. Just sharing my honest experience.

They have noodles in addition to rice, which I like, and I usually order an extra side of these. The portions are huge. My steak covered 1/2 of my plate today. I like the sushi. I get the veggie roll, fried. Honestly this is probably pretty hard to mess up, due to the distinctive lack of seafood, but still. No complaints here. The service is excellent.
