Today I was in Welcome visiting some family and we decided to try Kimono. The restaurant was decorated like your typical hibachi place. It was nice but nothing immaculate. We ordered a variety of items on the menu and everything came out delicious! I personally ordered the Funky Roll and Bulgogi. Both were tasty and delicious. The sushi menu was somewhat limited but it had everything you would want from fried to traditional. I found Bulgogi to be cooked well and full of flavor. The servers were very nice and ensured we had everything we needed. Should you be in the area I recommend giving it a try!

Got take out from Kimono last night and it was the absolute right move. We got hibachi plates and sides of noodles because we couldn't choose between rice or noodles. My husband tried the spicy tuna and said it was good. I see us back here many times in the future for take out.

Steak and shrimp. Where is the steak? This is unbelievable and bullshit. I will forever leave a bad review when ever I can. All mushrooms. I y'all owe me a free meal! Welcome BS

We have eaten at all of the locations, but for the most part use the one in Welcome as it is closest to home. Their menus slightly differ and the Welcome one actually has the smallest and least diverse menu but it's got your staples. Right now, they are offering 20% off your order if you order online which is a great deal! This isn't spectacular sushi, I'm not going to pretend it's the best of the best, it is certainly not the best you can get in the area. But it is consistently GOOD! And they offer some items that are so cheap, like udon noodles for $2. You can seriously stuff yourself and your best friend silly for like $40 here which for sushi, is no joke. Sometimes you want the all out experience- the $34 sashimi deluxe platter with fancy carved carrot roses and the $15 sushi rolls with 87 ingredients that comes with a hand carved bonsai tree on the side. Sometimes you want to sit and watch 90 Day Fiancé after you put the kids to bed and inhale bulk amounts of "good" sushi. Both are valid but different life experiences! Well, this is the latter of the two, but not the lesser, there is room for every level of sushi in my life- except for gas station sushi, just say no. I would rank this as definitely better than grocery store sushi but not on par with say, Hakka Chow which is our favorite in the area. My order: the crab rangoons (THESE are some of the best in the area!) the vegetable tempura (they give you a TON) one of the deep fried rolls (they offer a few, but one deep fried roll is enough, they're heavy) and three of the basic rolls. If you're extra hungry or sharing or need to feed picky small humans, add an order of their udon noodles which are super simple and tasty. They also offer hibachi which we really need to try because everyone says it's great but I am one of those tunnel vision folks when it comes to sushi so we never do. Next time!

I thought it was a little weird that there weren't more people when we pulled in at 1 pm in a Saturday but we decided to give it a go anyways. I have heard good and bad things about this place but I wanted to try it out myself. I ordered a steak and shrimp hibachi plate with no mushrooms and no onions. The workers were friendly. When they have it to me the smell made it really hard to not touch until after I got home. I opened the box and realized they didn't leave off the onions but it was fine because they were big enough to pick out. The food tasted pretty good and I felt like they gave you a decent portion for what you pay for. I was not a fan of the shrimp sauce though. I don't know what ingredients are in it but it tasted like they went a little heavy on something. It was very runny and had a almost chemical taste. I know the sesame seed oil can have that taste sometimes but I'm not sure what they used because I didn't ask. I did find out that they sell sushi so I'm pretty excited to go back and try. We rated this place a 8/10

    Chicken

I ordered using a food delivery service. The chicken was so dry, overcooked and full of gristle. The vegetables were cut at various thickness and over or undercooked. The grossest Japanese food I've ever had.

Hibachi chicken with Udon Noodles. Very good food, fast service. Variety of food choices. You won't be disappointed. Ample food on plate. You won't leave hungry. A must try in Welcome!

I've only been to Kimono a few times.. pretty much your typical Japanese.. this time during my visit I got the Korean Beef Bugolgi and sushi. The Bugolgi was extremely salty.. I've had an actual Bugolgi dish at a Korean restaurant and this, sadly, doesn't imitate at all.. the ginger taste in it was really strong as well, and I like ginger.. Their sushi is not my favorite only because they're made in huge bites. Too big to eat in one bite. Service lacked just a little.. didn't check on us often and the head cashier didn't greet us or seem friendly at all when assisting the other cashier. The restaurant is cute and has unique decor. Great location for this type of food

The restaurant is very casual and smallish with 10 total tables including booths. As I waited for my meal I noticed most of their business here is coming from take out orders; There was only 1 other customer seated. I ordered steak and jumbo shrimps from the Daily Specials menu. It only costed $10.95. It came w steamed rice or fried rice, your choice along w lots of veggies like mushrooms, zucchini, onions and broccoli. The beef and shrimp were hot off the grill. Yum! I asked for extra of the included sauce, I love a good ginger sauce. The green tea ordered was very good. Negatives: Ginger sauce tasted more like soy sauce and if it had ginger in it...it was grated so finely you could hardly notice it by sight or taste. My mound of steamed rice was cold on arrival. The sign for restaurant was needing fresh paint or a total rehaul. This seems to be a mom and pop restaurant. The 2 people seem to work hard, 1 cooking all meals and 1 serving them. Very pleasant and attentive people. The food was good and you get your money's worth.

We decided to try it. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Carolyn had Teriyaki Chicken. Both were served with fried rice, sweet carrots, and a mixture of squash, zucchini, onions, and broccoli. Portions were ample. The chicken (breast)was cooked perfectly. The flavor was a bit bland. Could have used a little salt, and more sauce. The rice had good flavor, but was a touch undercooked. We just prefer "sticky" rice. The carrots were soft and delicious. Just a little sweetness - just right. The mixed veggies were well cooked, a little al dente, but that's the way I like jt. Food was served on styrofoam plates, which is ok. Plastic forks, however, need to be larger and more sturdy. The place is new. Maybe the flavor will come in time. We might be back, but were disappointed the BBQ is gone.

My wife got the steak hibachi. Ditto. The chicken and the steak were very well cooked. The pan fried gyoza were good and the sauce had a bit of punch to it. There are a few reasons beyond the food that I won't likely be coming back. 1. Syrofoam plates and cups even for dine in. Wasteful. 2. Fox News playing on the TV. No thanks. 3. Christian radio playing over the speakers. Don't need it. I understand they are trying to fit in with bright red Mocksville and can't fault them for that. It's just not for me.

Arrive on the 23rd my husband told them we had a reservation and they stated they don't take reservations I must have called the wrong location. I whipped out my call history. December 3rd 11 minutes. Oh yeah we had a new girl that day, wtf? One hour twenty minutes for my birthday dinner. They sat a party of EIGHT with us leaving us with 15 chairs. One person ate in their lap. Nobody seemed to give a crap. So I did not go for a few months. But Sunday May 3rd took the 13 year old for a family birthday dinner. Party of six we were sat with a party of three. We made friends quick because service was horrible minimum of three but usually 5 repeats by each of us for every part of our order. She got my sushi order wrong after 5 repeats of what I wanted until finally the sous chef brought what I ordered. I asked for spicy mayo for my sushi. I believe it was four times while the waitress informed me that there was no such thing but they had spicy mustard. I said can you just let the dude know that I want spicy mayo that's making the sushi with her attitude she walked off. I ordered unsweetened tea and Splenda then had to ask for Splenda all the way till my actual main course My daughter had to repeat her salad order so many times she simply got annoyed. After my daughter ordered, I looked at the waitress, and I said will you be asking us what kind of dressing we wanted on our salads as no one at the table had given their dressing type? She said oh yeah, I guess not even sure what that means. So I'm done gratuity added because we were 6 people. I'm a great tipper so I'm sure she did not get what I would've left, but I'm positive she got more than she deserved
