    Hibachi steak with mixed vegetables

I have been coming here for over 15 years. This is my favorite hibachi restaurant in the city. It is nothing flashy or over the top, but it is exactly what you want when you order some take out hibachi. If you decide to dine in the service has always been excellent. The inside of the restaurant shows it's age but it is just a nice little place to eat some hibachi. I will hopefully be eating here for another 15 years.

Kimonos of Clemmons is by far my favorite Kimonos location in the area. Tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, Kimonos is a quaint place to enjoy a meal. Every time we go in we are greeted and seated almost immediately & the food comes out quickly as well. My go to order is their hibachi chicken with veggies and fried rice. The chicken is always tender and I enjoy their sweet carrots that are put on the side.

I wasn't crazy about the place. The meat didn't seem as cold as usual when it was served. I really wanted a California roll the way they make them in California (they mash up and mix the crab meet with mayo). I was able to find a Spicy Cali roll that's made that way at the other Kimono restaurant (NOTE: it's not the same chain!). Our server told me he would make me one like that, but I ended up with the California roll exactly like it is, just adding spicy mayo. It's just not the same :(. We thought the other Kimono is where we were going, but ended up here. We'll be making sure we end up at the right Kimono next time. Maybe their Chinese food is where it's at for this Kimono?

No steak, overcooked chicken, small but nicely cooked shrimp and almost no flavorings. Slight taste of tuna fish.

Usually we enjoy take out from here but tonight was an exception, I hope. The food was not what we ordered and overcooked and poorly seasoned.

I stopped in here for lunch and had the udon and a tuna roll. The sushi prices were low and the roll was pretty good. The shrimp in my noodle stirfry were tasty. I think I would have liked it more if I had ordered the less sweet sauce. Service was fast and friendly.

I've been eating here for many years! It's one of my favorite Japanese hibachi restaurants to eat at. It seems to be a local classic staple for the hibachi entrees, I see they have sushi and we get tempura vegetables and crab ragoons. When I'm traveling through clemmons I love to eat here.

Since it was Valentine's Day and we knew many restaurants would be packed, we decided to give it a try, thinking a place like this might not be too busy. We were so wrong. It was overcrowded. Apparently, they were also offering a Valentine's Day buffet and hosting karaoke night on top of that. Because it was so crowded, tables were even set up in areas where people would normally walk through. We definitely didn't want the buffet but one of the staff members gave us a menu and told us they were also serving from their regular menu. We still considered leaving since the only available seating was at two small tables in the aisle but since we were already there, we decided to stay. It was very loud so we couldn't really ask the staff about the dishes. Not knowing what to order, we went with the combo plates. I got the Pork Sisig combo, and my husband ordered the Beef Tapa combo. The food was good overall. The flavors reminded us of a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Korean cuisine which was interesting. My sisig was a bit too salty, though. The only thing we weren't big fans of was the veggie rolls. We're still curious to try some of their other dishes so we'll probably give it another shot.

Our server was very accommodating. I couldn't decide between two chicken dishes, the Chang BBQ Chicken and the Crispy Chicken with Peanut Sauce so I asked for her recommendation. She said, "Ooh... those are completely different. But get the BBQ Chicken. It's a good portion." So that's what I ordered. When she brought it out, I was like, "Whoa! That's a lot!" I guess I underestimated what "a half chicken" meant. It was delicious and the meat came right off the bone but I could only eat a quarter of it. While I was eating, our server even brought me some of the peanut sauce they use for the Crispy Chicken with Peanut Sauce so I could try it. That was so thoughtful of her! It tasted great so now I know what I'm ordering next time. My husband ordered his usual, the Massaman curry. The portions are always generous here, and he enjoyed it as always. We were promptly greeted upon entering and shown to our table. The restaurant was about 75% full of other patrons and the dining room was clean and comfortable. Along with regular tables, there was limited seating at the sushi bar. As we began looking over the menu, our server made us aware of the lunch specials on the back page, which was greatly appreciated. I went with the Teriyaki Beef and my wife had the Hibachi Chicken. I chose the side salad with the house ginger dressing and my wife had the miso soup. Both of us went with white rice. Our sides came out pretty quick, and once we finished our sides, our entrees came out like clockwork. The Teriyaki Beef with accompanying vegetables tasted great, but I felt the portion size of both could have been larger. Still, it was a good value. Now, the portion size of the Hibachi Chicken with vegetables was much better, and it may be my choice next time. I want to mention that the sushi I saw being delivered to other tables looked pretty amazing, so the Hibachi Chicken may have to wait. Service was excellent throughout our visit. The only suggestion would be some soft background authentic Japanese music to add to the experience.

We decided to try it. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Carolyn had Teriyaki Chicken. Both were served with fried rice, sweet carrots, and a mixture of squash, zucchini, onions, and broccoli. Portions were ample. The chicken (breast)was cooked perfectly. The flavor was a bit bland. Could have used a little salt, and more sauce. The rice had good flavor, but was a touch undercooked. We just prefer "sticky" rice. The carrots were soft and delicious. Just a little sweetness - just right. The mixed veggies were well cooked, a little al dente, but that's the way I like jt. Food was served on styrofoam plates, which is ok. Plastic forks, however, need to be larger and more sturdy. The place is new. Maybe the flavor will come in time.
