I stopped in today and the service was extremely friendly -- the staff here were genuinely kind and welcoming, which I really appreciated. The salad was simple, but the ginger dressing had nice flavor. The soup, though, really missed the mark for me. I've had a lot of clear broth soups like this from many different Asian restaurants over the years, and I don't want to sound mean at all, but this was probably the weakest one I've ever had. The broth tasted cloudy, there were some odd floaty bits in it, and I did find a hair in mine, so I wasn't able to eat it. For my main meal, I ordered the filet and chicken hibachi/teriyaki combo. The vegetables and sauces were very good, but the chicken and steak were a little chewy, and the fried rice was slightly firm. Overall, the entrée had good flavors, but it was a mix of ups and downs. I still really appreciated the kindness and hospitality from the staff, and I do plan to go back and give them another try because the service was great and there were parts of the meal I did enjoy. This was my first time at this restaurant though I've eaten at Kimono Japanese on Old Country Rd - there is or used to be some connection as both have this logo on their menu and store site - "Fast, Healthy, Filling, and Delicious" - and much of the menu is the same - franchise operations maybe? I ordered Hibachi Shrimp and Scallops with rice and roasted vegetables. The shrimp were excellent, well cooked and fresh tasting. There were few scallops, and what there was were chewy and lacked any freshness. The rice, veggies, and sauce were very nice. I have been coming here for over 15 years. This is my favorite hibachi restaurant in the city. It is nothing flashy or over the top, but it is exactly what you want when you order some take out hibachi. If you decide to dine in the service has always been excellent. The inside of the restaurant shows it's age but it is just a nice little place to eat some hibachi. I will hopefully be eating here for another 15 years. read more

I wasn't crazy about the place. The meat didn't seem as cold as usual when it was served. I really wanted a California roll the way they make them in California (they mash up and mix the crab meet with mayo). I was able to find a Spicy Cali roll that's made that way at the other Kimono restaurant (NOTE: it's not the same chain!). Our server told me he would make me one like that, but I ended up with the California roll exactly like it is, just adding spicy mayo. It's just not the same :(. We thought the other Kimono is where we were going, but ended up here. We'll be making sure we end up at the right Kimono next time. Me and my GF were the first 2 ppl in the restaurant. We was seated and then we placed our order. While patiently waiting my GF received her food first as I waited on mine I notice after ten minutes I still haven't received my meal, in which I started looking around to see what was taking so long with my food. I noticed the waiter at another table serving them their food and then he came to give me mine. I was confused to why he would give them their food first as we was in the restaurant first and my meal wasn't complicated at all. My entree was filet mignon with fried rice and broccoli. I have eaten filet plenty of times in my life and never have I eaten such tough steak. So when ordering Filet from this place is no more than a over cook sirloin steak with a lot of gristle. read more

We order from here almost every week because we really enjoy the food. The last few times we ordered, including tonight, it has not been good. I ordered and pd for filet but I am pretty sure it's not filet. The "filet" and the other steak order are both burnt and chewy. read more

It's clean. The server wasn't friendly, but he refilled my water and so that was fine. The cream cheese wontons and sauce were great. The miso Soup had a strange flavor, they don't have a substitute for sea weed (or rice or soy paper) for the sushi and the veggie tempura was not good. I won't be back. read more

Great food (I always get the hibachi steak with sweet carrots, mushrooms and fried rice....drowned in yummy ship sauce...that's how it's done folks. I took my grandkids out for dinner and it was delicious. We were greeted as we entered and felt very welcome. My granddaughter is a Sushi lover, and she was very happy and satisfied when we left. I like this place a lot! I always come here when I'm in town. It's a bit above mall food court fare, but the quality of the meat is pretty good. Also, so far the sushi has been decent.the teriyaki meals all come with a pink, creamy, sweet sauce...which I think is a bit of an overkill, considering the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce, but it's tasty nonetheless. We decided to stop here, because we were traveling. We ordered the sushi and steak and noodles. My husband ordered the spicy tuna roll and noticed it tasted and smelled fishy. We then found out why, because Saran wrap was stuck to the bottom of the plate. The sushi had been pre made and was not fresh, at all. Our concerns were validated, once we found the wrap. Recently moved to the advance/Clemmons area and wanted to try this place out. My husband and I have loved the Kimono in Kernersville and on country club road but this one was very disappointing. When we walked in there was no one there to greet us or explain if we should be seated, then one if the staff told us to sit wherever. The waitress was not unfriendly but made no efforts to really worry about our dining experience. I asked for a salad with ranch instead of ginger and was given a bowl of lettuce with a Ken's Ranch dipping sauce?! Ew. The miso soup looked like water, the hibachi wasn't bad- definitely the best part of the meal but still not the best I've ever had. I ordered a sushi roll to try as well and the tempura flakes were stale which totally ruined the taste of my roll. Overall we were thoroughly underwhelmed and will not be returning to this particular Kimono. Prices were very reasonable I'll give them that. read more

The location itself is nothing special and it is not a hibachi grill with the chef show, so if that is what you are looking for go elsewhere.
