Hibachi Bang Bang Jumbo Shrimp Bowl
    Ashley C.

The sushi was so gooooddddd!!! I wish I had gotten more sushi rather than one roll and then the hibachi bowl. The hibachi bowl was meh. Too much teriyaki sauce. It's all we could taste. But the Bang Bang Shrimp Roll was a HIT at our table.

The last visit I got the filet mignon hibachi bowl and it was delicious. My wife and I both decided on the filet mignon bowls this trip. We were not disappointed. Even the vegetables in the bowl were good. I tried the salmon sushi roll and it was very good as well. If your dining partner likes sushi you could easily split the bowl and get sushi roll sides. Our server was very attentive checking on us often. No issues. The only thing negative I can say is the interior is in need of a freshening up.

This was my first time eating at Konnichiwa, and I chose this because of the positive reviews on Yelp. For a Friday dinner, the place was just starting to fill up around 6:15pm. It became very busy pretty quickly, which is a testament to this restaurant's popularity. The inside is modern-ish. I was at a table with three other friends. Our waiter did a fair job, and he had a lot of tables to handle There was a bento of some sort, chicken. Pretty big. Lots of food, and the eater of that said it was alright. The other two had hibachi rice bowls (I think). I ordered roll(s) off the special sushi menu and ended up with the Anamikazi Toro. I thought I was getting two rolls, but apparently the waiter did not understand thought I wanted to change my order. By the time I ate that roll, I realized what had happened and chose not to ask for the other. This Anamikazi Toro roll was pretty tasty. It has tempura crab, avocado, cream cheese, torched toro, spicy mayo (not spicy), kabayaki, and black caviar. It was slightly warm, the kabayaki was alright, but the toro and caviar made the texture pretty great. That being said, the cream cheese and avo were a bulk of that texture, and if I were to go back, I'd choose something else. The overall feeling among the group was that the food was alright, not amazing.

Konnichiwa is my family's go-to sushi spot in Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. We are major sushi lovers and this spot has some of the best. Their Bento boxes are also really good! We always get a spicy tuna roll to share. The staff are always kind, welcoming, and fast. The restaurant itself is pretty comfortable. The location is convenient - if you're out shopping in the area, it's a great place for lunch, dinner or a snack.

Well what a nice surprise this place was! Far exceeded any expectations I had. Fabulous service and good food What more do you need. Also nice space! Nice decor inside with ample space that the seating is spread out. Sat in a nice booth at lunch and noticed they actually serve wine and beer too! The menu is great, sushi and sashimi and all your teriyaki and hibachi staples. My friend and I both got the chicken bowl. I had mine with white rice and she had fried rice. This was one mammoth size bowl. A good 3 servings for me. Lots of veggies and nice teriyaki glaze but not dry at all. Good flavor and the chicken was perfectly coated and cooked. Served hot too, with yum yum sauce . The place was busy for lunch and seemed like a lot of regulars. Always a good sign. For a strip mall location this place is far superior to most Japanese places. Definitely a place to try lunch or dinner .

Fast service, minimalist and intimate decor with incredible sushi selections for those wanting sashimi as well as safer more accessible rolls. I have been multiple times and try to have different rolls every time I have. This time I had the Godzilla and Mr Krab rolls. They were both high quality and unique offerings. Definitely recommend this place and likely some of the best sushi you'd find in Winston-Salem.

My salad was awash with a thin, pale dressing of dubious origin. I have never seen a salad like this in a Japanese restaurant

Stopped in here for lunch today after having it on my to do list for a while, mainly due to the large percentage of positive reviews. I arrived just as they opened and was quickly seated & my drink order taken. I wanted a beer but they had just rec'd a temporary ABC license, and were waiting for a distributor to fill their order - so has there been a change in owner ship recently? Seems strange since this place has only been open a little over 9 months! I ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento Box and a side salad with ginger dressing, which came out very quickly. I have never seen a salad in a Japanese restaurant like this one - the salad was drenched in a thin, pale orange "dressing" which had no hint of grated ginger so prevalent in this type of dressing. What was worse was that it tasted like it looked - bland and thin, not a good start! The Bento Box was out in good time, but the hits just kept on coming. There was no hint of freshness in any single item contained in the box, it seemed as though all items were leftovers from a previous day, or days! To wit, the 4 pieces of California Roll were refrigerator cold, the rice and items in the roll were stale tasting! And more: the Chicken Katsu slices were thin, dry, stale tasting and could not be aided by the accompanying Katsu sauce since the taste of the sauce was off. The rice, as with every item, was not fresh tasting and was bland and dry (dry is very unusual for the Japanese version). The dumpling (I only tried one of them) tasted no less stale and I was not able to determine whether the ground meat inside was chicken or pork! And finally the grilled vegetables, made up of carrot, broccoli, onion, zucchini, and what appeared to be a lone mushroom, were way over cooked (void of texture) and bathed in a sweet sauce much like the Katsu - perhaps more than a little was spilled on them. Pictures previously posted on Yelp from this restaurant showed very different versions of the veggies and the chicken!. This was a singularly poor meal, from beginning to end, without a single saving grace as to the food. The service was efficient and personable, the ambiance was nice with standards playing softly in the background, but neither. was much solace in this case. I, of course, will not revisit this gastronomical train wreck.

    Steak and chicken no teriyaki

My food was really burnt and the rice was mushy. Almost like leftovers that were warmed up on the grill and severely over cooked. Steak was supposed to be cooked medium! This is my second try here don't think I'll be back.

With the good reviews coming out of this place and it being close to where I live it was a must-try. My wife and I came in on a rainy Saturday afternoon around 1-ish. The location is in a shopping center with other restaurants and shopping so it had enough parking and is easy to find. The ambiance of the place was very nice and they had some soft music playing. We were seated by the window and went through the menu. Our server answered a few questions and I ordered the Japanese Beaver Roll (no beavers were harmed in the making of this roll), the Hwy 9 roll, and a spicy tuna roll. I like to try different types of rolls when I am first going to a place to see if the fish quality is all the way across on the various types. The Hwy 9 was my least favorite, but that is a personal thing with me there was nothing wrong with it. I don't care for baked rolls and it has cream cheese. The spicy tuna was fine and it was just a plain roll with spicy tuna, nice tasting tuna. My favorite this time was the Japanese Beaver Roll which had a decent price of $10.95 with spicy tuna and spicy mayo. It was nicely flavored and the mayo was on point.

Found a great sushi place few minutes from home, so life is gooooooood. It's located in the Ross and Marshalls shopping mall area but when you step inside, there is calming music, friendly faces and emerald green and wood decor waiting for you and you feel like it's a little escape. Our waiter was so friendly and answered my questions about the rolls. I went for a mango madness roll and a side order of spring rolls. Very good. I appreciated the perfect bite size rolls. My husband got the beaver roll and spicy tuna. I tried his beaver roll and loved it. My only small small complaint is the mango in my sushi roll didn't pop. I could barely taste it. I'll order what my husband got next time.

This was my 1st time at Konnichiwa and won't be my last. Upon entering , everyone was greeted with "Konnichiwa!" . Welcoming and clean atmosphere. The service was fast and food delicious.

I had a delicious sushi dinner here. We were greeted by our server and were shown our seats quickly. Though the restaurant is located in a large plaza, when you get inside, it is nicely decorated and really refreshing. It is definitely the type of place to have a lovely sit down meal, and not your typical takeout joint. Though, I noticed they were busy with takeout. We ordered the crab Rangoon as an appetizer, and were extremely pleasantly surprised at how light and fluffy they were. It's almost as if they did a tempura batter fried as opposed to the wonton style. Very tasty! I got the Dr. Crab roll was delighted by the fried imitation crab that garnished the top of the roll. I also got shrimp tempura sushi, which is a classic. They nailed both of them and I left really satisfied. They were getting pretty busy as we were leaving, so I would recommend trying to get there at a slightly off hour. I'm definitely planning on returning!

We were originally planning to hit up our usual AYCE spot in Greensboro but didn't want to deal with the wait, so we decided to try Kimono since it's closer to home. Big mistake. Let's start with the rolls - they're basically rice bombs with a hint of fish somewhere in there. If you're into eating mostly rice with your sushi, then jackpot! But if you're looking for that perfect rice-to-fish ratio and fresh, vibrant flavors that good sushi should have, keep driving. The quality is barely a step above what you'd grab from Harris Teeter's sushi counter, and I'm being generous here. The only saving grace was our server, who was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. But friendly service can't make up for mediocre food, especially when the bill hits $120 for three people. At that price point, you expect way better quality. Bottom line: Save your money and make the drive to a better spot. There are too many good sushi places in the Triad to settle for this. Your wallet (and taste buds) will thank you later.

The rolls were heavy on the rice, which overwhelmed the other flavors. Additionally, there was an off-putting funky taste that made the sushi comparable to what you'd find in a grocery store. On a positive note, the waiter was extremely nice and friendly, providing great service throughout the meal. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, the sushi itself did not live up to expectations. It gets one star for bad food and the extra star for the great service.

We decided to try it. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Carolyn had Teriyaki Chicken. Both were served with fried rice, sweet carrots, and a mixture of squash, zucchini, onions, and broccoli. Portions were ample. The chicken (breast)was cooked perfectly. The flavor was a bit bland. Could have used a little salt, and more sauce. The rice had good flavor, but was a touch undercooked. We just prefer "sticky" rice. The carrots were soft and delicious. Just a little sweetness - just right. The mixed veggies were well cooked, a little al dente, but that's the way I like jt.
