Hey family. Happy Saturday! I tried Miss Johnnie Mae's a while back and I'm happy to report that I liked it much better than when I tried it prior. My initial introduction was when they were located in Stock and Grain Food Hall. I had wanted to try them for a while and luckily I was invited to a Yelp Event where I was able to sample some items. In all fairness, I absolutely loved the service but maybe it was an off night but at the time I wasn't a fan. But as some months passed, they are no longer in Stock and Grain but in a food truck in High Point. I highly suggest following their Facebook page for dates and times where you can catch them. The service was still wonderful and the food was really good. The sweet potato cornbread is one of my favs and the chicken wings and catfish bites were fried to perfection. I love collard greens but do understand, everyone makes them differently. My family is from eastern NC so we make ours savory, theirs have a little sweetness to it. I don't mind it but this time around was so much better, it was very well balanced. The mac and cheese was delicious as well. Although not pictured, do check out their Russian tea drink. I felt very nostalgic and I have no other words but it was great. I try to savor it when I get some. I wish he sold them in half gallon jugs because I would buy it. That's how good it is. They have other items like Rasta pasta, oxtails, pork chops, and turkey wings. I can't wait to come back and try more food. Give them a follow and check them out. Wow, we went to a Yelp event here about a two weeks ago and wanted to comment on some of the non-event items that we purchased. They were absolutely incredible (in no particular order because they were all perfect): Lemon pepper wings: Huge, seasoned and prepared perfectly! Four large wings per order. Yams: Incredible, I haven't had yams in years and really enjoyed them. Mac and Cheese: Very, very good, enjoyed. Sweet potato cornbread: Incredible as well, sweet and moist. I was excited to try Miss Johnnie Mae's Kitchen! This was my first time to the Stock & Grain food hall where they are located. Is such a clean, aesthetically pleasing food hall with plenty of seating. They were pretty busy on this Sunday afternoon. Their customer service is awesome. Thank you to the person that was taking my order, you have the patience of a saint, thank you for letting me stumble through what I wanted to order. I ordered the four whole wings entree with Mac and cheese and candied yams sides and the Baked Turkey wing with rice entree with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Each entree came with sweet potato cornbread. The boxes were ample. My only regret with the turkey wing is that there were not two of them. That turkey wing was juicy and flavorful! The collard greens had a little too much sugar for my liking but the mac and cheese had a good cheese ratio but needed a bit more seasoning. And I like the fact that they bottled red koolaid for one of their drinks, yes I had it, yes it was good. Not too sweet but just the perfect amount of sugar to balance the flavor. I am going to return for another one of those turkey wings entrees! I've already spread word of mouth around Greensboro about this restaurant! read more

Please visit this spot because if you want some flavorful soul/Caribbean food this is it! I must say when I walked up I was greeted with a smile & was welcomed with open arms! The young man who took my order was giving legendary customer service from the time I walked up until the time I left. I got the Rasta pasta. They had jerk chicken or brisket, I opted for the jerk chicken. It was so good! Great spices & a good amount of heat! I also ordered their special for the day the catfish & let me tell you, yummy yummy yummy! Fresh fish, flavorful sides & that sweet potato corn bread is moist! I also had the pink lemonade & the Russian tea (pineapple orange & passion fruit) the drinks are on point! I recommend that Russian tea! I wish I could order a gallon of it! That pound cake was delicious as well, makes me want to try their other cakes as well! Overall 10s across the board!!! I will be coming back here next time I visit the food hall! This place was the bomb dot com. A fairly new addition to the food hall, Miss Johnnie Mae's has made quite a name for themselves despite its infancy. First things first, portions are HUGE. I chose their special, which happened to be the Cajun Fried Catfish Special, and it did not disappoint. I chose green beans and mac and cheese for my sides. Green beans were well seasoned and soooooo yummy. Mac and cheese was delicious as well, extremely cheesy and filling. Now for the star of the show: the fried catfish. The fish was absolute perfection. Well coated, well seasoned, the catfish was cooked to perfection. All in all, I highly recommend this dish for anyone that loves some good catfish. I'm extremely excited to try more of their menu, especially their oxtail and their Russian tea! read more

It took us 45 minutes to try and get to this destination due to a Veterans parade. Hungry and frustrated, we were happy to find location. Location shocked us because it wasn't its own restaurant. It felt like we were eating at a mall. I ordered the jerk chicken with Rasta pasta and a sweet potato cornbread. Not knowing prices (for lunch) I ordered a meal for my friend and my Daughter. $20 each. YES, $20 each and they got more food than I did. My bit of food had good spiciness, however it was extremely loaded with salt. I had to stop eating it. I saved leftovers for tomorrow knowing I have plenty of fluids here at home. My Daughter said her Mango chicken with Caribbean green beans and Mac and cheese was good, but the chicken was tough to eat. My Friend had no review for me. read more

If you are looking for a spot with food good to and for your soul, check out Miss Johnnie Mae's, located in the Food Hall of the Truist Bank Field in High Point. Full transparency, I probably would have never know of the place if it weren't for the Yelp Elite event. As a participant in the event I was given a complimentary (lunch size?) Rasta Pasta. I specifically went on Friday because I wanted the seafood, however when I arrived it was gone. My remaining options were jerk chicken and brisket. Not a fan of either, but I selected the jerk chicken. Pleasantly surprised. Super flavorful with nice amount of heat. Although Jerk chicken is not my speed, it was very good. I will return to get the seafood. I also ordered the Mac and cheese, which I did not get. Don't worry, I'll be back to give it a try. I ordered the banana strawberry pudding. Interesting combination, but it works. I'm a fan. I ordered the sweet potato cornbread which I think was the show stopper for me!!!! This cornbread right here?????!!!!! Try it. Lastly, I had to get the Red KoolAid (individual and 1/2 gallon...smh) as my son is a Kool Aid drinker and I got the Russian tea for myself. Picked up a side and dessert while at the food hall. Originally, my intention was just to pick up a slice of cake but the smoked turkey collards caught my eye since I love both and the combo is even better. I asked if the smoked turkey collard greens had smoked turkey in it or if that was just the flavor. I was told that, yes, there was smoked turkey in it. Unfortunately, neither was the case. Not sure what happened but the collards tasted like someone swapped the sugar for salt and not a hint of turkey. One bite and I called it quits. I prefer my pound cake dense and moist but it was quite dry and icing wasn't great. If your tastes run differently and you like sweet greens, then it may be for you. read more

I love to patronize black owned businesses while I'm traveling from state to state. I've tasted some of the best soul food and some of the worst. This establishment was one of the best. My family and I ordered jerk pasta rasta and 2 orders of chicken wings (bbq/lemon peeper) with two sides. The wings were made to order. They were large and flavorful. Our sides were yams, Mac & cheese and dirty rice. All the sides were delicious. I was hesitant on ordering the strawberry pudding because it didn't have any fresh strawberries or bananas. The owner offered me the pudding at no charge and assured me I would love it. I tried it out. To my surprise it was GOOD. The fruit wasn't needed and the vanilla wafers, chessmen cookies and pudding was proportioned well enough so neither was overpowering the other. read more

The price is high for the Macaroni and cheese don't be fresh one day I bought some macaroni and cheese from them. They put the burnt macaroni and cheese on the bottom and just throw a little fresh on the top so I will not buy any more from them. read more
