We stopped in again for breakfast at the Carolina's Diner on Saturday morning, February 7 a little after 8am. As always, it was a full house. Great sign for a local diner we've come to love. We were hoping to sit at the counter bar to experience the lively vibe but seats were full. Our waitress in the back room, whose name escapes me, was top notch and genuinely friendly. She checked in appropriately if we needed more water, soda, or anything. My wife and I stuck with breakfast basics: eggs, bacon, sausage, and the classics. I ordered the Dinermite Country, which came with eggs, sausage, grits, and biscuits with gravy. It was delicious and filling. This worked out perfectly since we skipped lunch for a function later in the day. We'll definitely be back! This diner has become a breakfast staple whenever we're in High Point. read more

I have 2 stories one at the Archdale location and one here. This is part 1 of 2 stories. I wrote this back in 2017 to tell a friend to not go there. This actually happened years earlier. Why I refuse to eat at a Carolina Diner. I know several folks love the place and think nothing is better but trust me these are my 2 experiences that turned me from ever giving them my business... The first time I tried Carolina Diner was the one on Eastchester Ave in High Point, NC. I went with a group of friends and we just ordered normal things. I placed my order just like everyone else. Several waitresses came and delivered our orders and I did not get mine. Our waitress came and asked if anyone needed anything and I said yes my order. We were having a good time so I and everyone was laughing over this because there were 12 of us and just figure it was still up on the server counter to be brought out. She left and came back 15 mins later. She took a smoke break or something because that's what she smelled like then and said well how is everything do you all need refills as she had tea and water in her hands. Everyone got their refills but when she got to me she asked how my order was. I said well, I am still waiting for it. At first she didn't believe me until my friends were like yea he still does not have his order. She was like really??? Looking at everyone thinking we were playing a prank on her. Then everyone stopped laughing and said no really he didn't get it. Most of my friends were almost done eating but a few of them were still going and all said they wanted to wait around so we all could leave together. So she said she would check with the kitchen and be right back as soon as she found out something. We all sat there for another 30 mins until we decided to flag down another waitress. She was like yes do you want dessert? By this time we all were like no we haven't seen our waitress and she goes oh who was your waitress? And no one could remember her name so we described her and she said oh she isn't working tonight. And she called another waitress over to ask her because she just started her shift. Well, yes the person we described had worked but left! Her shift ended and didn't let any other waitress know to finish our table that I was still waiting for my food and that she clocked out. So, we told these two what all happened and how we have been in Carolina Diner for over an hour and still didn't have food for me and everyone was ready to go and had places to go so we were ready to leave. Well, they couldn't even find our checks it took another 15 minutes before they found them. It seemed that it was in the managers office. So everyone went up to pay and get their part of the check and last I stood there thinking well, no food no payment. The register guy wanted me to pay for my food that I NEVER received! I said No. he said what? I said sorry I didn't eat. He said did you order? I said yes but no food ever came to the table for me. He said show me. Most everyone left I only had 2 friends left there to agree with my statements that I didn't get food and that they did. I think the register guy was thinking I was trying to get free food. Well, I said we were just over here at the back table. He said, but that part has been closed for the last hour. That's where we all came from, he said it gets closed at 10 and this time it was like 11:30 and I was like well, we have been here since before that. He just can't believe it. By the time we all went through the line and paid, the bus boy was so efficient he cleaned up everything and it looked spotless and he goes see no one has been back here it's clean. So, we had to find the two waitresses that we asked to get the checks so we could go so he would understand we were there and believe us that I didn't get food. So, then he's like who served them and I described the girl and he said the same thing the other waitress said, she's not working tonight. Then the other waitress said no she did work until her shift ended and that's where the other waitress found them back there not knowing they were waiting on his food. Well, the guy then apologized but asked for me to pay for my tea. $2.50 for tea that I got one refill and no other service and no food plus, he added 15% gratuity because of a large party. I paid my 3 bucks and left. MY friends tried several times to get me to go back but I said no that Carolina Diner is not getting my business. They tried for years they gave up until someone suggested lets try the one in Archdale... The Archdale one is the other story.... read more

As long as I've lived in High Point, I have never eaten here before. I was pleasantly surprised how big it actually is on the inside. PLENTY of seating. I got a plate with Turkey Sausage, two eggs, grits and toast. I was really a fan of the sausage but she quick replaced it with turkey bacon and that was just fine. Service with a smile read more

My cousin came down to one of my jobs stores in high point for a quick bite to eat around 7:30 we did not know what to eat so good old yelp to the rescue right down the street from my job I drive by it at least 2 times a day and never stopped by to try it and i am Happy I tried it got some cheerwine soda and hot chips to start with I ordered the hot chicken sandwich with onion rings 9 out of 10 My cousin got Smashburger and added some bacon to it with crinkle fries 8 out 10 Also got a togo order of a waffle with strawberries and fries my kids are weird I know and that was good as well not as good as the service as I was leaving in my car the young lady that gave me my Togo order flagged me down because she forgot to give me the strawberry so she ran inside and beck out to give it to me now that's how you make me into a repeat customer thank you so much read more

Came here on a busy Sunday Brunch, a little crowded, wait time was about 10-15 minutes before we got sat down. But as soon as we sat down, the service was pretty quick, our server took our drinks order, came back and gave our food orders. Our drinks and food was served without 15-20 mins. I had the veggie omelette, with hash browns and side of country gravy to go with the biscuit. Gravy & biscuits tasted good, but the biscuit is a little dry and hard. My granddaughter and I visited on a Sunday after church. It was packed and it was only about 10:45 when we visited. However, there is plenty of parking. If the main parking lot is full, you can park in the adjoining parking lot in front of the department store. It felt a bit chaotic as the staff shouted out people's names over the loud, bustling sounds of the diner. But they seemed to have a system that worked! There were lots of families there, coupes and some dining alone that sat at the bar. The food was delicious and prices were good for portion size. They serve breakfast all day, which I am a fan of! Our server was responsive and on top of things despite how busy they were. However, she may have been reeling the pressure of the crowd as she didn't smile the entire time we were there. Nothing against her, just something I appreciate in a server... a smile. I had a delicious spinach and feta omelette that is marked as a favorite on the menu. I see why! One part of the omelette was a tad undercooked but not enough to warrant sending it back. My granddaughter enjoyed her biscuit and gravy as well as her hash browns. Today my friend and I stopped by for lunch! We were looking for somewhere that had a lunch special and Carolina's Diner actually had their's listed on the online menu. Excellent advertising on their part, as it feels like this sort of lunch special isn't always advertised. I ordered the baked spaghetti lunch special that came with garlic bread. Wow what a huge portion for a lunch special! And so cheesyyyyyy! Ooey gooey bites! Garlic bread was on point. My friend ordered the double smash burger lunch special with fries. Each patty is 4. oz. It was served with American cheese. She loved the classic, juicy taste! I look forward to my next visit or delivery! I wanna try that smash burger! And tossed tenders yes please! read more

I was there to have breakfast with my son and grandson. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy to get the table for 5. However after the wait the service folks were amazing. The food was good quality diner food. Breakfast was hearty and my grandchildren were able to have crayons and color on the children's menu. I wish I had done this closer to the time we ate there so I could give the server an express mention. She was just delightful. It was a team effort however. I went here with some friends of mine, and I got the spinach and feta omelette. It was very good. It came with grits, hash browns, and toast. Everything was good. The grits could have used a little more seasoning, but I'm also picky about grits. We had a really good waitress, Javi. And she took great care of our table and got everything correct in the order. It definitely looks like a diner inside. We had to get the big booth on the left when you walk inside. It wasn't easy to get into, so that would be my only major critique of the restaurant is that the seating area needs to be updated a little. If you read any of my post you know I love hole in the wall type of restaurants. Well, this fits the bill. The biscuits and gravy were top notch. The bacon was cooked medium and the scrambled eggs were nice and firm. The wait staff was courteous and prompt. Like most hole in the wall type of places attention to detail needs to be paid to cleaning under cabinets, the floor, etc. By the way, the place was packed and people were standing in line for take out. But the service is terrible, waitress are rude and unfriendely towards customers and they talk crap about you when they think you can't hear them. This is one of my go-to breakfast spots. They get quite busy on weekend mornings, but have quite a lot of seating. I've never had to wait longer than ten minutes. One thing that impressed me was that I saw them accommodate a group of 12+ when they were absolutely packed by giving them two adjacent booths. The speedy service makes it easy to get seated, even when they are busy. I usually get the two egg plate, which comes with eggs, choice of meat, hash browns, and grits. I always give the meat to my dining companion. For under $5, this meal is a bargain. My eggs have always been cooked properly. Unfortunately, the hash browns don't have any flavor or seasoning. The grits are tasty. Carolina Diner has a rewards program where you can earn points towards a free meal. You can sign up with your server. My boyfriend and I went to Carolina's Diner for a late night "breakfast for dinner". It may not look like much from the outside but this place is a gem. We ordered the Gravy Biscuits to start and those are just like my grandma used to make. Well seasoned with perfect fluffy biscuits to complement the sausage gravy. He had the Chicken Fried Steak and gravy with eggs over medium and hash-browns. The steak was well cooked but still juicy and tender with a beautiful crunchy crust on the outside. The eggs were great as well. I had the southwestern omelet and it was delectable. The tomatoes in the pico were sweet and delicious. I consider myself to be an omelet connoisseur and this is one of the most flavorful omelets I have ever had. This will definitely be our spot when we are in High Point. The food here is okay, but once you see how gross the place is and how it is falling apart, you won't want to eat there anymore. The last time we visited, they sat us by the dishwashing room and the lady who was washing dishes was wearing a full trash bag because of how much water was coming out of the ceiling. The menu offerings are varied--breakfast, soup, salads, sandwiches, entrees, etc.--and food is typical diner/greasy spoon fare. The fried tomatoes came with a flavorful coating--it was a tad bit greasy and a little over peppered and salty for my taste. I prefer my hash browns a little more crisp, but still tasty and will request them crispy the next visit. My husband liked the mushrooms & onions on his chopped steak, but the gravy tasted like it came from a can. Girls consumed their meals without complaints. If you're looking for a classic Luke's Diner experience from Gilmore Girls this is it...minus a guy in a backwards baseball cap refusing to refill your coffee that is but I digress! I've been here for breakfast and lunch and it never disappoints. Today we had the Hammy Sandwich and Breakfast special #2. The Hammy Sandwich reminded me of the Hardee's Frisco sandwich. It's ham, egg, Swiss and American cheese between two buttery grilled pieces of sourdough bread. I was starving and could only eat half! The breakfast special #2 had eggs, sausage (or bacon) and French toast. My fav was the French toast although all was tasty. Salted enough that I didn't have to add any but not too much. The coffee was delicious, no need for cream or sugar. I think coffee tastes better out of an old diner mug, change my mind! The only thing that was less than ideal were the hash browns. Some were so over fried they hurt my molars when I went to chew. Maybe pass on those or ask them not to be overdone. I should also mention our servers are always so nice. We love Carolina's diner! We've been here many times and each time the food and service are great! Today in particular we got the best server we've ever had at this establishment, her name is Leslie. She was called in on her day off because they were short staffed and still had a smile on her face and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time we were there! Seriously, ask for Leslie your next visit! As for the food, I almost always get pancakes or French toast and it's amazing! But today I tried something new, it's the Route 66 skillet and it comes with potatoes, corned beef hash, eggs, gravy, and cheese, along with grits and toast! Great diner in High Point open 24hrs. We've stopped here many times in the past but just never took the time to review it. We have only eaten breakfast here so I can't comment on the other meal choices but my guess is they are good. We could be regulars here if we lived closer and it was clear that many of the patrons are just that. I like any place that offers me breakfast choices outside the normal eggs/bacon/sausage/toast plates. Carolina's Diner has a number of sandwiches and "skillet meals" that fit the bill perfectly. My wife always gets the Hammy Sandwich, bread of your choice with two eggs scrambled, cheese, and city ham. It comes with their signature hash browns. She loves it and I rarely get a chance at a bite to taste. I've had a number of the skillets. I like the meat lovers but my favorite is the gut-busting "Route 66" that has home fried potatoes, corn beef hash, 2 eggs (over easy for me), and smothered with chip beef gravy! No, I don't believe it's the healthiest thing on the menu but it sure tastes good.
