I went to A'leurer (pronounced "allure") for a celebratory team dinner, selected by my boss who lives out of state. Based on the name, she assumed it might be French or some sort of soul fusion. Before going, I asked a friend who's active on Yelp if she'd heard of it, and she mentioned it was a newer soul food spot, so that's all I knew walking in. When we arrived, I realized this space used to be the Thai restaurant with the bridge and fish. The bridge is gone, but the beautiful door and some of the gold décor remain, which was a nice touch. The absolute highlight of the evening was the staff. Truly five-star service. From the host to our waitress, everyone was kind, patient, professional, and genuinely welcoming. All the stars go to them. Drinks were unfortunately a miss overall, with one exception: the blueberry lemonade, which I really enjoyed. My colleagues did not enjoy their cocktails. The signature drink (named after the restaurant) included muscadine wine, tequila, triple sec, and blueberries, but it didn't land for our table. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary homemade biscuits and honey butter. I personally thought they were a bit burnt, but others at the table enjoyed them. Appetizers were solid. We ordered all varieties of wings--the lemon pepper wings were especially good. The fried mozzarella was also very good, along with the marinara. Entrees were hit or miss. Those who ordered the turkey wings did not enjoy them**. I ordered the fried chicken, which was solid. The fried pork chop was reportedly good, while the steaks were not well received. Sides were also inconsistent. The collards and kale tasted oddly similar. The mac and cheese was dry and not creamy. The yams were okay. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were the weakest dish--they tasted completely unseasoned, and even adding salt and pepper didn't help. Portion sizes were generous, and prices were reasonable, which I appreciated. That said, I don't think I'd return for a full meal. I would happily order the lemon pepper wings to go and get another blueberry lemonade. The team working there is doing a wonderful job, and I truly hope the kitchen continues to evolve. With some thoughtful menu tweaks and more consistent seasoning across dishes, this place has a lot of potential. While the service was exceptional and portions were generous, the food quality was inconsistent. I'm rooting for this place and hope a few kitchen tweaks help it shine as much as the team does.

In walking in, you get, ok this might be good vibes! Unfortunately I didn't have a great experience. Let's start with drinks, three of us ordered cocktails and one wanted sweet wine. I guess the wine wasn't chilled so they thought adding ice cubes to the wine was a good idea but it wasn't and perhaps the server or bartender didn't know what sweet wine meant because it was not sweet. Since it was four of us, we wanted to try a variety of things but those table tops for four don't accommodate that. So we asked if we could get a bigger table because we were ordering a lot of food. We were first met with a lot of opposition. Then finally after we were like where is all the food going to go that they moved us into what I guess is the group area. Now for the food, I ordered oxtails because everyone's reviews were good and even the staff was like yes but I guess I had the wrong cook. I knew they wouldn't be authentic to Jamaican culture. It appeared it was moist because of the light coating of sauce but they were super dry and tough one you cut into it...major disappointment. Others meals came out over cooked or dry. It also took FOREVER to get our food! The only thing that was on point was the honey biscuits they bring you at the beginning and the wings. I'd be willing to go back if someone else just was dying to try it but outside of that I'm good. Don't want to spend my money to get subpar service and food.

Don't come expecting to eat in a timely mann!!! The ambiance is casual. They had a live DJ playing some feel good music!! Our waiter, Xavier , was nice and accommodating however, the wait time for the food ....over an hour !! I ordered oxtails - they were out. I ordered beef tips - they were out. I finally ordered fish and collards. After an hour we received our food and our waiter said they were out of collards. Fish was Great!! The bar was just okay...not a lot of selection to choose from. They are still building their brand so I'm hoping it will get better.

They have a 10 wings for $12 special on Fridays. And I got a side of Mac & cheese for $3 additional dollars. I ordered 5 naked wings & 5 breaded with lemon pepper. It took 45 minutes to get my food & the place was basically empty. I was not amused so I asked to speak to a manager. She apologized & gave me a choice of a free lemon or cheese cake to go. I also ordered a Lisa Lisa cocktail. It taste like a lemon. Yucky! lol I would not order it again. By the way the Mac & cheese was really good. The music is also nice. I think the good his hit or miss,

    Mac and cheese and collards

Delicious! Loved the biscuits. Collards and Mac and cheese were good. Cheese sticks too!

I tried this off recommendations. It is a little hard to find. Walking it it feels like a place to eat while the move all the tables to the walls for dancing. There were about 20 tables when there could have been doubled. Water feature in the lobby that was not working with empty change. There is a bar upfront That looks empty and has storage boxes behind it. I had fried chicken, collards and Mac and cheese. After waiting 40 minutes , while I was the only person in there Friday afternoon The chicken was really good. The collards are not seasoned. The Mac and cheese was room temp, like it was from yesterday.

Walking into the restaurant it was very elegant and nice. The server we had she was nice but also kind of forgetful. If I would have read the reviews on the wait time on food I would have eaten something before coming. By the time I got my food other people in my party was either done or asking for boxes. The spaghetti is made to order. Veggies does not come with the meal, they are priced at $4 per vegetable. The oxtails were very fatty (5 of us ordered the oxtail and had the same issue), it would be nice if some of the fat could have been trimmed off especially if your slow cooking them it will retain its tenderness with little fat. The mozzarella squares were good nice cheese pull, greens beans were good as well. Mac and cheese is a hit or miss. The asparagus is a definitely no. I understand having a party and charging a service fee, however your service fee also determines the tip which is inconvenient because the server forgot certain food, a guest party was told 10 mins on wings which took almost 45 mins after complaining about the meatloaf and I received my food after everyone was almost done with theirs. It would be nice if all food came out at the same time when dealing with parties.

The food was not good. I specifically ask if there was the collards were spicy I was told no. Also, the fish was so greasy. I sent it back and the batter didn't stay on the fish. You could see the grease sitting on the fish. When the to go plate was returned to me it was without a bag. The waitress was rude assuring me the fish WAS fresh. It was NOT. $25 for two small pieces of fish Mac that the cheese wasn't melted and cabbage on the second plate that had no flavor.

Date Night Saturday we never been here before and my husband saw this on Facebook so Saturday went there now it's nice inside but it was too loud for my liking, but when I saw the menu it was like what I ordered baked chicken so you get mashed potatoes or rice so I chose mashed potatoes my husband order the fish but it didn't come 2 side he had order the side separately. I was thinking fish should come with sides and some bread of sort, but any way he ordered yams and collard greens, the yams was not good but macaroni cheese was good. The service was alright it was different than I'm used too, The food could have been hot it was just warm. I spoke to the manager about the place and I told her I go out to eat a lot different restaurants so the money I'm going to pay for your food it should add up. So the whole Atmosphere and the food was not all that good for us. If they want to stay in business they need to step up there game, I don't mind paying and supporting black own businesses but at end of day I want eat good feel like I got my money worth. You can tried this place yourself and tell me what you think

I'm so glad my mother chose this place to celebrate my grandmothers birthday! The atmosphere was clean and cute. We had a good time fellowshipping & carrying on. Once the food came out we shut up, it was so good!!!! I already know what I'm getting next time I go! My oxtails and rice were so flavorful! My grandma got the lamb chops and left no crumbs! Everyone enjoyed their food. We did have to wait until after the food came out for our biscuits that are supposed to come out with the drinks but they were bomb too so not too much on them, hehe. Our server was sweet & attentive. Overall it was a nice experience and my grandma loved it which is all we really cared about anyway!

Loved it! My nephew said it was life changing! Our server was great, the place is nice, clean, and has a great DJ playing late nineties/early 2000s R&B. The food was the absolute star! We had the shrimp and grits appetizer. This is shrimp on top of a grit cake. Think: a huge delicious hush puppy! SO good! I then had the ribs, mac & cheese, and cabbage. My nephew had the Cajun pasta with shrimp and a side or mac & cheese. We both had strawberry cheesecake for dessert. The ribs were as big as my forearm! We're very much looking forward to our leftovers, which are a whole meal!

Anthony is my fav bartender but everyone does an amazing job. I love the on the menu jalapeno strawberry margarita, but like this night pictured if I want something else he will make it for me ! And he's never made me a bad drink ! (This wasn't my first rodeo here ). On to the food. This wasn't my first time having the collard sausage dip and I could eat it with my hands it was so delicious freshly made and creamy ! This is hands down the best dip I've ever had and to top it off the fried pita !! My only complaint is there aren't enough pitas to dip ratio but I will order more next time. And I found the dip greatly paired with the catfish. ( no judgement) The catfish is something I've had before but I didn't have the pleasure of the waffles the last time and let me tell you ! This is a work of art. I want to personally meet whoever made this idea of layered fish , greens and waffles but it was heavenly. And I wanted to eat it all but my stomach just wouldn't allow it. I did however heat the leftover the following morning for breakfast and they were still perfect. Last but not least the Mac and cheese was creamy, noodles were perfectly cooked and it was seasoned to a T. I'm picky on Mac and cheese being my favorite food and they do it justice. See you all next weekend!

The dip is always so delicious - it's one of my favorite appetizers ever. The pita is really good too. I think they recently started adding cheese to it too which is good but not really necessary in my opinion. At first, they brought us pita that was really burnt but our waiter told us she requested a fresh batch without us even saying anything which I think is great service. I also tried their garlic parm boneless wings & they were so good. I loved how seasoned & salty they were, although they might be too salty for some people. I really loved it though! Their cocktail menu is also really interesting & creative. It's mostly whiskey of course but they do have other spirits. I tried the peanut butter & jelly Old fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. It really did taste like a PB&J so I highly recommend. The inside is small but there's a nice outdoor seating area too. This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. I've been there before just to have a few cocktails at the bar about 45 min before closing & had the same experience. I still really love this place & will keep going (but probably not within an hour or so of closing lol)

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. I started with a Cajun Martini made with jalapeño-infused vodka, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. It did not taste artificially jalapeño-flavored; it had a real kick and just the right amount of heat. We started with the Crawfish Rangoon Dip, and honestly, I could have made a meal out of it. I have had Rangoon dips before, but this one was especially smooth and full of flavor. If I had been at home, I probably would have been tempted to run my finger around the bowl to get every last bit. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp Étouffée. Others at the table ordered the Duck Jambalaya, Shrimp and Grits, and Gumbo Yaya. My dish seemed to get better with every bite. The Creole stew was rich and deeply flavorful without being over the top. I was especially glad our waitress suggested adding a side of garlic bread to mop up the sauce. Even the garlic bread stood out, toasted on the grill with a slightly smoky flavor. It felt like real attention had been paid to every detail. We all tried each other's dishes, and I would happily go back and order any one of them. The banana pudding at the end of the meal was just as good. It had a strong banana flavor and was not overly sweet. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the meal moved at a relaxed pace. We never felt rushed. My only complaint was the noise level. The restaurant has a tiled ceiling, and it got loud enough that at times, it was difficult to hear people on the other side of the table. Even with that, I would go back to Blue Denim!

My husband had the King Catfish plate and really enjoyed it, though we both agreed the Shrimp and Grits was superior. My only complaint with Blue Denim is the noise level. It is a small space with a charming interior, but given its tight quarters, it can get quite loud even if the restaurant is only half full. I'm not sure how they would go about fixing this, but if the weather is nice (as it was in this latest visit) I will opt to eat at one of their outdoor tables.

Stopped in for lunch one day in search of FRIED CHICKEN. Not just any old fried chicken but GOOD…read morefried chicken. They are located in a nice little spot with ample parking and it's easy accessible. The interior is simple but clean. Plenty of seating. The ladies who work here are very friendly and helpful, came around a few times to check on me, offered fried side to go with the greens , offered a refill on my sweet tea. Great service! About the food. Probably the BEST FRIED CHICKEN in the area. I really can't judge on that because I haven't sampled other fried chicken in the vicinity but based on my own research of sampling fried chicken all over North Carolina, I feel confident in my assumption. It was fried just right. It was SEASONED. It had a very nice batter that was crunchy and the chicken in the inside was tender and juicy. Every bite was tender and juicy. These ladies should teach a cooking class on how to make fried chicken-to other restaurants. The SWEET POTATOES were perfectly cooked and flavored in butter and cinnamon. You could eat it as a dessert. But not overly sweet. Just right. The GREENS were tender and seasoned perfectly. Greens and fried side with their delicious CORNBREAD could be a meal in itself. The SWEET TEA-perfect! All around, best home cooked food/soul food you can get. I will be back and I highly recommend for true SOUTHERN COMFORT food.
