Chicken Salad Sandwich with Pasta Salad, more a visual success than a tasting one!
    Fred B.

A quick lunch here this week was typical of our previous visits for a sit down meal, nothing bad, but nothing especially outstanding either. The food is always just a half step away from very good, the service always seems like they envision being somewhere else, like right now - "Sorry, did you want something, now, from me?" We're in the area quite often, so we keep dropping in, mostly for their pimento cheese and home made crackers, but once in awhile for a sit down meal. We were in the area, Alice wanted Chicken Salad, they have Chicken Salad, we had a match! Alice ordered a Chicken Salad Sandwich with a Pasta Salad side, and I chose Beef Tips on Rice with a side of Corn & Lima Beans. We were early, the time out of the kitchen was good. The Chicken Salad was very much influenced by the amount of pickle, and there was an abundance. In fact, it reminded me of the Chicken Salad the old Made Rite Sandwich Company produced, back in the day. While not totally bad, not a re-order item either. Pasta Salad on the sweet side. Beef Tips were tender, but the overall flavor was a bit muted, the dish basically a bit under seasoned - ate it all, but there was no WOW in the dish. Limas and corn were much the same, nothing bad, nothing great!

We eat at Delancy's frequently and normally the food is good. Tonight they disappointed us with our takeout order. For starters, when we got the food home, we were missing a side. The order taker read the order back so we know it was on the order. Next, we found that the order of hot chips was a gluey mess of chewy, greasy, thin potato slices. This isn't typical, because I order these often and they are normally crispy and good. See the photos of what we found in the box. Finally, the fried okra in my order was soaking in about a quarter inch of cooking oil in the bottom of the compartment. My wife called to complain and the manager offered to comp our next meal. We'll take their offer, and hopefully by then they will have completed the kitchen staff's training. We'll see...

Great place to meet the family! Great home cookin'.

We have eaten at Delancy's many times. From amazing Southern country cooking to delicious soups, salads and sandwiches, everything is delicious. YES they have sweeeeeet tea and the best homemade desserts you will find in North Carolina. Today is Tuesday so I had the fried chicken livers. There are not too many places that serve these, and do it well. Delancy's has the best chicken livers you will find. They were very crispy and not heavy with batter and grease. My husband had the beef tips over rice - he loved it. You get a large selection of veggie sides - and specials all week long. Today we had sweet potato casserole - just like you make at Thanksgiving! We also got and shared green beans and beets... my favs. You like salmon cakes but don't like the way your kitchen smells afterwards? Go to Delancys for them - they make them like I do. Their meatloaf and chicken pot pie are served every day, I think. Let's just say, these dishes are the real deal. We had guests today, so we ordered the basket of homemade crackers and their homemade chicken salad and pimiento cheese. I could sit there all day and just eat that! We were so impressed, we hired them to cater a large birthday / school event for 300 people. The catering was so easy to order with Michael and on the day, there was NO stress. Brien gave us constant attention and the food of course was wonderful. If you want authentic Southern style food and hospitality, drive to Burlington and look for 2432 Tribek Ct. on your GPS. Delancy's is tucked away behind Lowes on hwy 70 (Church St). Tell them the Millers and Waltons sent you!

Daily specials are always good. Homemade pies and cakes. Great value. Healthy options

The service was bad, ordered sour dough bread took 10 minutes to get. It was burnt, went to the kitchen to complain, they took another 10 min to bring more Won't be back.

Delancy's is a combination Meat and two / sandwich / homemade dessert place. I am a regular, having eaten here 100's of times over several years. . I like to eat primarily vegetables, and they have a good assortment. I particularly like the green beans, pinto beans, collard greens, and crowder peas with corn. I am also partial to their vegetable beef soup. Chicken & rice soup is also excellent. They have a lot of bakery items that they do in-house. Brownstone cake is great, as is the pecan pie. Also the pineapple cake. And their homemade crackers are the best crackers anywhere. Really! The staff is friendly and seems to be happy and hard working. I love Delancy's !

Unbelievable. When my chicken was served it was on the other side to disguise the burn. All I could taste was char. Won't be back.

Walked in, one person there. Depressing and smelled like something had been scorched. Walked out. Won't be back.

Decent food and good service just a little too greasy and had gut rot for three days after eating it. Probably won't come back anytime soon.

I've been to a few First Watch locations in Ohio so when it came to Burlington I decided to go once…read morethe initial crowds died down since I didn't remember the food being that memorable. I went early one Saturday morning before the rush (crowds were appearing by the time we left at 9:30a) and were quickly seated in a booth by the window with lots of natural light. The restaurant was clean and well appointed with modern rustic decor and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. I did a bit of research before ordering to only order the most popular dishes in hope of making some memories this time around. I ordered the morning meditation juice which was a perfect mix of their fresh squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, beet juice, turmeric, ginger and agave nectar. Perfect way to start my morning in the sunlight. For my main breakfast entree I got the lemon ricotta pancakes which came with 2 HUGE pancakes the size of the plate. Even though the lemon curd appeared to be a dollop, it was enough for the whole dish since the lemon was very prominent to the point syrup was not needed. The berries were fresh and the pancakes were cooked to perfection (soft with lightly crispy edges). I also enjoyed a hot cup of table side coffee with my drink. I drink it black so I found the plain coffee to have a nice flavor and wasn't bitter at all. Now the million dollar bacon ehhhh.... I heard someone ask if they were thick, not at all. I found the honey to overpower the other seasonings so it was just basic bacon with honey in my opinion. Not worth the almost $7 price tag or the million in the name. If I am in the mood for a solidly good fresh breakfast in a nice atmosphere I'll be sure to stop by, but I wouldn't wait longer than 15 minutes for it.

I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the veggie sandwich (grilled mushrooms and onions). My sandwich…read morewas refrigerator cold. Mushrooms were on one half of the sandwich and the onions were on the other half. My first bite of sandwich was strictly onions (yum onion sandwich). The pesto was a single blob in the center. This sandwich was obviously prepared by someone who does not care about what they shove out of the kitchen. I enjoy First Watch food. The Greensboro and Raliegh locations have never been a disappointment. I will never go back to the Burlington location. This is sad because I live in Burlington.

This is the first time I've been here and I love this place. I was running errands getting ready…read morefor our granddaughter's birthday so I needed to come here and go to the oven by Lyn (see my review). I stopped here because I was hungry and wanted to take a break from all the running around. Plus I could have a cheeseburger and a beer, but of course that had nothing to do with it. There were two gentlemen working at the time both very polite. Asked if I could have chili on a double cheeseburger and I was told I absolutely could and asked what else I wanted. So I got my cheeseburger with fries and a beer. I was the only person in there but it was also a weekday in the middle of the day. They brought my food to me and I got to sit down and enjoy it while watching the Addams family on television. It was pretty relaxing actually. The place is spotless, brightly lit, and the tables have lots of space between them which is really nice. The classic TV was also nice. I'm really glad they didn't have news or sports on. Lurch and Thing are a lot more entertaining. Anytime I'm in this area I'm going to look for a reason to stop here. I highly recommend this place.
