Horrible service and food. Ordered online and stated 20 minutes for pick up time. Went 25 minutes later only to discover that they hadn't even started our order yet. When inquired, I was told the kitchen was backed up and would get to me eventually. Eventually?!?! 20 more minutes later and second request to get my order, was told "you keep asking the same question but nothing is gonna change" 55 minutes later got my food and got home to food missing and chicken that been left in the oil for God knows how long. Absolutely disappointing! The portion sizes were smaller than expected for the price. The BBQ chicken was incredibly small, slimy, cold, and I'm pretty certain it was just fried chicken that they had soaked in BBQ sauce. I've had grocery store potato salad that was better. It was too sweet and just mush. The pulled pork comes dry, and you have to request sauce if you want it. The banana pudding doesn't have bananas in it, and the pecan pie is prepackaged individual slices is Sara Lee pie. When Smithfield's was a small, local place it was very very good. Stopped in for a quick dinner. My first visit to Smithfield's. I chose a BBQ Sandwich with coleslaw and fries. You place your order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Service was quick and the food was hot. The manager came by the table to check on things. He was so personable and friendly. Explained that all the BBQ is cooked on site fresh daily. The sauce i chose was vinegar base and it was good. They also have fried chicken or you can get a combination tray with both. This location was extremely clean. It is located right off I85 for quick and easy in and out. I will return again. read more

I've been see this place all over and decided to try it... why not u can't go wrong with chicken ijs .. coleslaw is sweet and good.. fried chicken is cooked right nice and the right amount of crispy. The baked beans were good. I like the added addition of hush puppies to go with my dish .. Stopped here to eat last week because school finally started in my county so while paying Spectrum I went for lunch here. Usually Smithfield's is the joint! This time for lunch the chicken was hard as h--, darker than me, the grease obviously needed changing and the taste was sooooo salty I had to drink about a half gallon of water later plus that good sweet tea to remove it from my body. Sometimes here it can be a hit or miss. It missed on the chicken omg! The manager on duty very friendly, by the time I got ready to leave more customers came in so I didn't complain I just eased out the door. The rest of the food was good; potato salad, hush puppies, Brunswick stew was good but Luke warm. Atmosphere is always nice. Just TV was a tad bit loud on that day. Best BBQ and chicken. Old style eastern NC style que (vinegar based with red pepper flake). Always hot and delicious. Fixing are off chart. The chicken is well seasoned and breading is thick. Stopped here on the way home from a road trip. The inside was very clean and spacious. I ordered dark chicken with baked beans and sweet tea. The tea wasn't as sweet to my liking and the chicken was greasy. It put me in the mind of Bojangles. The beans and hush puppies were great and my husband's potato salad and coleslaw was good also. I stopped in after shopping with my sister her friend and my daughter. I haven't enjoyed Smithfield's in years. The cashier was patient and friendly. We found a table and the food was bought out to us. Several employees came around and gave refills and checked to see if we were okay. I was shocked by how well we were taken care of. Morgan was one of my favorite. I loved her beautiful southern accent and great customer service. I ordered a combination plate with chicken, barbecue, cole slaw and baked beans. The staff is very pleasant and the bathrooms are clean. The food comes out very quickly and as ordered. The sauces they have are akin to a chick-fila-a However the location is hard to get to when coming off the freeway as you have to loop all the way around. The Chicken Plate was actually better then your average Fried Chicken from a Fast Food restaurant. The hush puppies were also pretty good. The Pecan pie was overly sweet. Unfortunately the Fried Shrimp and fries were pretty terrible tasteless and fishy tasting. If you stick to the chicken and dont want to spend a lot then it may be worth a stop in. read more

My girlfriend and I were on the way home from Chapel Hill on Friday, March 24, 2023, and were quite a bit hungry. As we had never been to a Smithfield's before, we divided to give it a try. We are glad that we did. We both ordered the chicken tender sandwich. The sandwich was delicious, the portions generous, and the fries were hot and crispy. Fantastic. What impressed us most of all, though, was the manager. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name. He was funny, engaging, and genuinely seemed to enjoy his job. He joked with us and made us feel at home. He did the same with other customers. Most everyone left that counter with food and a smile on their face. "bbq white chicken platter" expecting pulled white chicken but got a fried breast and fried wing (white meat) slathered in liquidy "bbq" sauce that tastes like Chinese sweet and sour sauce. A guy came out and asked if we wanted a different piece of chicken because they were out of wings then told us it would be an up charge when we said breast. I've been coming here once a month ever since this restaurant opened! But after the experience I've had with the drive-through, this will be my last. Only had two people in the drive-through and it took 15 minutes for me to receive my order lucky enough I received the wrong order. I went inside and showed them the receipt and what I have received and they gave me a blank stare for 10 minutes as they try to figure out what happened. When this eastern NC girl in a Lexington bbq world needs her fix, and doesn't have time to drive down to Goldsboro, Greenville or Ayden, this hits the spot. Despite it being a chain, their bbq is good and consistent. This particular location in Burlington has a small covered patio that, when we visited for lunch on a hot but breezy low-humidity July day, was in the shade. Spacious interior and tables to choose from. Ordered the bbq plate and fried chicken plate. The bbq plate was good. Its just shredded pork picnic or shoulder but on the drier side. I liked the tangy vinegar table bbq as a tableside condiment. Same with the chicken, it was not as juicy and plump that comes from a nice pressure deep fry. But the flavor was there. I liked the bbq beans .. they had tanginess acidity and deep caramel like sweetness. The potato salad was standard ... think any storebought deli section. Smithfield's is by far my favorite place to get eastern Carolina bbq. This location is just as delicious as the rest. I usually go for a bbq sandwich but this time I opted for the fried chicken platter. This includes fried chicken, bbq, hush puppies and two sides of your choice. It was AMAZING. The staff at this location were all so friendly and checked on my multiple times during my meal. It's also a very clean location. I will be back in the near future. read more
