It was pretty confusing. I went up the counter and told them I was dining in and wanted to see the menu. There's one old one taped to the pay table. Several minutes later I'm told to take a seat and someone would take my order. Several minutes pass and I see all sorts of people passing by. None said a word to me. Then a lady asks if I'm waiting to pick up and I told her I was dining in. The menu itself is pretty basic. I def misread some things. I told her I wanted a cheese steak and she said they have cheese steak hoagies. I also ordered a plain burger. Can't expect much for $2.35 so I was going with the flow to see if the specialty burgers would be worth ordering. The food came and I was not impressed. I got a very tiny burger and a pretty basic store-bought bun. The cheese steak was a smash burger with American cheese. It was not a classic cheesesteak but a steakish burger with cheese. It came with a plate full of fries. Everything came out pretty lukewarm and without any type of seasoning so I doused my food in catch-up and hot sauce. I was starving this point, so I ate when I could and pretty much left the buns. The tea was super strong. I would go for a soda next time. I got unsweetened, so it seemed more like an afterthought drink than something freshly prepared. I was not expecting a lot based on the prices, but it's not anywhere I would go again. Service was pretty much not there. The server spent more time with other customers. I did not even get as much as a smile from her. It was hard to distinguish, who was working and who was a customer because everyone was walking back-and-forth. The man at the register seemed friendly enough. Not once was I asked how the meal was. I don't think I would go back. There was nothing special about the food or ambiance. Had the service been good then I might have tried again. The place wasn't exactly clean but it wasn't terrible. People were standing are around and could have tied it up in between customers instead of playing on their phones. The ice machine had a big sign on it that said keep closed, but it was open right by a door. You can see the ice melting. Not a place for me. The search for a good cheesesteak and burger continues

Visited Skid's during COVID time so I placed an order curbside and took lunch to go. The woman who took my order was friendly and the food was ready quickly. The menu is large but I knew what I was there for. I ordered a hot dog with chili, slaw, and mustard and an order of tater tots. The hot dog was good the chili was a little sweet which I liked. The tater tots were great. Very crispy. All in all, very good. I look forward to returning. It's an easy visit off the highway for those passing through Burlington on 40.

This place has been around forever, it seems, started by the Skidmore Family back in the 50's, I guess. Nothing fancy here, just a Hot Dog/Hamburger joint with a few plates, a variety of sandwiches, salads, and even Spaghetti. The interior is worn and tired looking, but the place is clean. I'd stick to the sandwiches - they are generally good, generally a nice value. The Cheeseburger ($2.20) is a very good cafe style burger, meaning it is smaller than some burger. The taste of the one here is nice. The Hot Dog is really, really good here, and a real bargin at $1.69. This is a classic Southern Chili Dog, with a red weiner, great tasting chili, and a gooey bun. The Chopped BBQ Sandwich ($3.50) is nice, though definitely not cooked in house. It probably is Hursey BBQ's commercial product - ironic, since Hursey's Restaurant is right across th street, literally. The Fish Sandwich ($2.99) is not a memorable taste of the ocean, and I'd pass. Most of their sandwches are offered in a basket, which simply adds FFs. I'd pass on those as well, they are pretty bad. The single Hot Dog Basket goes for $2.69, which means you're paying a $1 for some really bad fries. The Grilled Cheese ($1.95) is good, but then again, it is hard to screw that sandwich up. We'll stop in again.

3 ate for $29.72 before tip. The "Skids Special Cheeseburger" plate ALL THE WAY is what you need to order. Great service and we all left stuffed.

2 dog All the Way (ATW) basket today which is all I come here for. The dogs are red and and the toppings are appropriate and as expected. They are portioned just right not to make a mess. The bun is very softy (steamed) and the slaw has a little sweetness to it that goes well with the bite of the onions. The Pepsi is served on the crumbled style ice which is best to me over cubes (wow, I reviewed on ice ) in styrofoam cups :( I am a fan of crinkle cut fries since my parents raised me in a bowling alley. But I have to say that these fries are pretty crappy; meaty, yes as they should be, but mushy as they should not be. I load them with ketchup to ease the pain. I think it's $6 well spent. The decor is dated, in this case that's cool. Some music instead of the 19" tv filling my ear with talk shows would be much better. This is a place that I like even with its shortcomings. I will always come back.

I had occasion to be in Burlington at lunch one day recently, and decided I needed to stop in. Zack's definitely fits that "area establishment" vibe, and people were coming in and out quickly... now I see why. They get you moving fast! I share John C's thoughts: Within about 15 seconds, a gentleman asked what we wanted. We had barely gotten the menu out when he said, "We have hamburgers and hot dogs. Hot dogs come with chili, onions, and slaw." Unlike John C I opted for chili cheese fries, because I am a glutton for punishment, but otherwise, got the hot dogs the same way, but add cheese. Food was out in a flash, and like John, i kind of wish more care was put into it to up the quality. I don't need my stuff lightning fast. Anyhow, just to be honest, I didn't care for the overall flavor of anything in particular. The hot dog franks and bun were pretty average, no toasting or buttering, frank was barely warm. The chili was HEAVY on cumin and pretty much overpowered everything, including the cheese. Chili cheese fries were a bit better, you could kind of thin out the chili and bring more balance to the cheese sauce. I ate these with a fork. I think if I visited again, I would go the burger route and get these for my chili cheese fix. Overall, I am glad to try an area staple, but it just wasn't my thing. At a place like this, there is surely a regular fan base that likes it exactly how it is, and I would never want to change that. Do your thing for them, it just wasn't my thing!

We sat down and our waitress Avery greeted us with a beautiful smile and we placed our orders. I ordered two chilli hot dogs with onions and fries. I took my first bite and I was very happy like a fat kid in a candy store. The hotdog had the perfect bite and saltiness that was perfect combination with the chilli. My crinkle fries were just enough and fried perfectly. Kaitlyn was one of the waitresses that probably could tell we weren't from there. She had a great personality like a real spit fire "Never change". Kaitlyn make sure you visit CT. All the staff were friendly great southern hospitality. The ambiance is very nostalgic. I felt like I walked into a cool place with nice stools and comfortable. I look forward to visiting Zack's Hot Dogs next time I'm in North Carolina. Please make sure you check out Zack's Hot Dogs and try the hamburger as well. Kaitlyn said they are delicious. To all my Yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world #foodie4life.

First, Jim is definitely a local joint. Very small restaurant with maybe four or five tables. Service was pretty prompt and they seem to have a really good relationship with the locals as several people in the restaurant seem to be pretty familiar with the people behind the counter. Definitely a good sign in my book. Locals don't usually frequent a spot just for the conversation. I am immediately headed over to Jim's to try it out. And I wasn't disappointed. I ended up ordering the Mexican hotdog and the cheeseburger. The Mexican hotdog was wrapped in bacon with relish, jalapeño, and a couple of other nontraditional items that you would not find a Sonoran style dog. The dog was also a bit on the small side, but it hit the spot. The cheeseburger basket was less than $10 overall so don't expect a huge portioned burger. However, the burger was good, and the fries were hot and plentiful. My favorite thing was the frozen lemonade. A bit on the sweet side, but definitely hit the spot on a 90° day driving in a Bronco with the top down. If I lived in the area, this would probably be one of my favorite junk food spots.
