I've lived in Burlington for almost 3 years now and I can't believe I haven't gone to Harrison's sooner! It's a delicious sandwich spot. The restaurant is small with a little more than 12 tables. You order at the counter and the staff will bring you your food. My husband and I ordered our food to-go. I got the grinder with hot chips (the sandwich comes with one regular side). The sandwich was really good and a nice size. The hot chips were homemade and warm with the perfect amount of crisp. I will definitely be back! read more

From the moment I walked inside the lady at front was so helpful and friendly. I ordered the smoked turkey with a side of baked beans. It was so good! Love Harrison's, I've been going there over 30 years. The only downside I noticed this time was that it seems like they no longer chop up the meat with the cheese or maybe I just got a cook who doesn't do it that way, but my ham and cheese is usually chopped up with the cheese, all mixed in between and melted perfectly and this time it was just more like sliced ham with cheese on it. read more

I was just there for lunch. I ordered a sandwich. On the menu sitting by the register it states the sandwich is served with one regular side. Not true!!! I ordered fries but ended up paying for them. I also ordered a side salad. When I emptied it out into my tray, the lettuce was brown. Like all of it. Took it up front to show cashier. She took it back to the kitchen. The "manager" came out. She didn't seem to understand that brown lettuce is not ok. I asked her if she'd eat it. She just said what do you want me to do?? Seriously!?!?' I've been eating there for a very long time. Had to go to the UPS store to drop off a package, was close to lunch time so went in. Decided on the chef salad and decided to eat there. The guy taking orders was very friendly and my food came out fast. The portion was huge!!! Everything was fresh and very good. I couldn't eat it all so took about half of it home. Terrible food. The cashier never refilled the unsweetened tea container and there was none for us. We asked her and she more or less ignored us. My husband ordered the Monday special. He orders a double order of chicken and was supposed to get 2 sides. He got 4 pieces of "chicken nuggets " very dry. He got 2 servings of what looked like pork n beans from a can. The food here has definitely taken a down hill turn. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and the chicken was overcooked and dry. Also the cheese sticks have changed. This is a really solid sandwich and salad lunch place with reasonable prices. They are located in the New Market Square Shopping Center at the corner of S. Church and Huffman Mill Road. The restaurant is small, 10 or 12 tables, and is simply outfitted, nothing fancy or particularly comfortable in the seating. This is a quasi-fast food setup - get in line, place your order, pay, get a number, fill up your drink cup, and grab a seat, if eating in - they do a lot of pickup business, as well. Your food is brought to the table, and time out of the kitchen is generally good, but stretches out as the place fill at peak times. Both the Teriyaki Chicken and the Marinated Pork Loin (both come as a pita sandwich or a platter) are excellent here, and most of the sandwiches are good , as well. Today we tried the Reuben ($5.99 with chips and a pickle spear) and the Grinder ($5.29 also with chips and a pickle spear), and an order of FFs ($1.49) The Reuben came on rye bread, of course, and was well sized, and fresh tasting. What was a little different was that mustard was used instead of thousand island dressing, which gave the sandwich a slightly different taste than the classic Reuben - a very good sandwich, just a bit different. The Grinder (not a term you encounter much in the South) is basically an Italian style sandwich with Ham, Salami, Bologna, Provolone Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and spicy oil and vinegar dressing on a nice, crusty sub roll. There is a nice amount of meat and cheese, making this both a very tasty sandwich and a good value also. The FFs were nice and crispy, with good potato flavor. Good go to lunch spot, or for a quick dinner on the go - nothing fancy, but the food is good, the prices reasonable. It can and does get busy, so kitchen time can stretch out a bit. Calling in an order is often a good choice here. We'll be back for lunch soon! read more

Asked him if he would make it right and he said he could not do that. After canceling it from my order I ate with my family. Ordered the cheesesteak and fries. First impression was that it was very small - seemed like a 6" sub cut in half and only about 1/2 as big around as you'd get from a sub-shop. Impression didn't really improve upon taking a bite. It wasn't bad, it just had zero flavor. Same with the fries. By far the most flavorful part of the experience was the fountain Cheerwine. I just got the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life from what was until 10 mins. ago my favorite restaurant in Burlington. I ordered the same thing that I have for the last 6 months at least once a week and was told NOPE can't have it without paying extra. My 7 yr old orders chicken tenders with NO SIDE but an order of pita bread instead. All of a sudden today that's not possible without paying extra. I guess Harrison's is so popular because it doesn't have much competition in Burlington--there are only so many pita places in the area. That said, if you equate "pita place" with "healthy and light," you probably shoudn't go here. The food is really greasy (I will agree that the ranch is delicious, but that doesn't exactly make a meal). Additionally, I have no idea how it happens, but this place seems to be perpetually staffed with apathetic, unprofessional teenagers. But maybe that's supposed to be part of its charm? Whatever makes the place so great, I'm definitely missing it. I would basically never recommend Harrison's--if you want a good pita place, go to Greensboro. read more
