They had no talent and an even worse sound system. Typically at a Dueling Piano event money talks...the more you tip the more priority your request gets. Not these guys. I tipped $30 for "Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band a number 1 hit single. I wanted to dedicate this to my wife for her 67th birthday. They kept noting people tipping $20 over and over and even noted...and played a song for one guy who had tipped $10 for 6 songs!!! They played about 5 or 6 requests from a single table and about 3 or 4 from the $10 guys table. Finally toward the end of the evening after at least half of the patrons had left, the guy who appeared to be the lead finally came over to our table to tell us they didn't know Afternoon Delight. When I told him never mind and asked for my money back he at first tried to argue the point. And on top of this my wife had tipped $20 to get "Jody's Got your Girl and Gone" by the great Johnny Taylor. Another classic R & B hit. Then the little guy gets up at the microphone and tries to blame us and others for requesting songs they didn't know by saying we must have never been to a piano bar before. Take some responsibility little guy you have no idea how many bars I have been to nor how many songs I have requested from truly talented performers.

I ordered a caramel latte and it was genuinely excellent. Their barista makes all of the syrups in house and you can truly taste the difference. She was also so kind and welcoming which makes you want to come back. During the day this place is ideal for working reading or just enjoying a peaceful coffee moment. I can already tell it is one of those spots that serves multiple purposes really well. Now I have to come back at night for the jazz and cocktails. I was very excited to check this place out, but it was extremely disappointing. We were under the assumption that it goes towards the final bill the way the $10 weekday cover does, stated on the website. It did not. We paid the $20 in addition to our bill. This needs to be addressed on the FAQ page on their website, insane it isn't listed already. The drinks were the most meh drinks I've ever had. Their menu looks incredible, but the cocktails were so mediocre. Nothing special, I didn't even like my Pear Cosmo it just tasted like straight lime juice. Two of my friends got the Spicy Margarita and they tasted completely different. One was insanely spicy, the other wasn't spicy at all. Took 15 minutes for a server to come over and acknowledge and take drink orders. Seemed like lots of miscommunication on which servers had which table. As one would come over, the other would check in less than 30 seconds later. The vibe inside is cute but super strange that they didn't steam/iron the green curtains which are a big centerpiece for the room... you can see the crease marks on the curtains from where they were taken out of the package folded. Jazz band was awesome. However, for this being a lounge it was too loud. Couldn't hear the person sitting next to you talking because it was so loud. Overall, disappointed in this place, I had super high hopes as I love jazz bars and cocktail bars. I would not recommend to friends and probably would not come back.

I went to Middle C Jazz last night for a date. It was our second date and oh my gosh this place did…read morenot disappoint. My date and I both love jazz and this spot was recommended to us in passing. I am so glad we listened because it was absolutely amazing. The vibe is swanky and super cute. When you walk in the walls are lined with photos of different jazz artists including the performers for that night. It felt so classy and welcoming. There is a hostess at the front who seats you based on your ticket and yes you buy your tickets online. I saw some available on third party sites but we purchased directly from the Middle C Jazz website. The venue itself is intimate. I would say maybe 100 people fit comfortably. No matter where you are seated you can see the stage. There truly is not a bad seat in the house. Some tables are reserved like the couple celebrating their anniversary who were seated right in front of the stage. We were off to the side but the view and sound were still perfect. When you arrive you stand in a short line and then get seated. If you are a party of two you might share a table with another couple which I did not mind at all. They have small bites you can order and there is a little light on the table you tap when you are ready for service. I had the crab cakes they were okay and my date had the sliders. I also ordered a glass of wine and everything paired nicely with the music. And the music... wow. The band played for about two hours and they were incredible. That night was a Stevie Wonder tribute and they absolutely delivered. I hear different bands play each night which makes me want to come back again and again. It was my birthday weekend but we were mostly there for the date. Still it felt like the perfect way to celebrate without even trying. The sound, the atmosphere, the intimacy, everything was so cute and so well done. Parking was easy. There is metered street parking or a garage right behind the building for ten dollars. You can either pay inside the jazz club or at the pay station. Just a heads up the pay station does not take American Express so if that is your card of choice handle the parking payment inside. This was honestly one of the best nights I have had in a long time. The music was fantastic the venue was beautiful and the whole experience felt special. Anytime someone visits me in Charlotte Middle C Jazz will be on the list. I cannot recommend this place enough.
