We've had this event annually for 3 years & we've worked with Urbana Catering Concepts the last two years and we couldn't be happier with our experience from planning, to price, to the food, to the staff at the event. We were far, far happier with Urbana than the caterer we used our first year (in case you're wondering - the first year caterer was Square Rabbit). Chef Vaughn has always been really great about working with us on menu items (making suggestions & being open to ours) and working to keep us within our budget. For example - we needed a few vegan options at our event this year and Vaughn had great ideas! Since using Urbana for this event we've heard nothing but great things about the food and I can't say enough good things about the staff. They are amazingly friendly & helpful - they kept everything looking good throughout the event and even kept our donated dessert area cleaned up and looking nice. Initially, we were assigned a coordinator who offered little guidance and had a noticeably negative attitude. Thankfully, the company switched us to someone else after I voiced my concerns, and things seemed to improve--until the wedding day. First, the cake service was completely mishandled. The cake was cut but never passed around to guests, and no announcement was made. While this may have been a communication failure on the part of my planner (Chad Biggs Planning), what ultimately falls on the catering team is the fact that the leftovers and the top tier of our cake were never returned to us. This was incredibly disappointing and something I can never get back. The food itself was also not as promised. The risotto served at the wedding was nothing like what we were given at the tasting. What should have been a creamy, flavorful dish ended up being closer to sticky rice. On top of that, one of our hors d'oeuvres--the duck mandoo--was completely different from what we selected. Instead of the dish we carefully chose, guests were served a spicy dumpling that I never would have approved for our menu. It's incredibly disheartening to look back on a day we spent months planning and feel disappointed by details that should have been handled with care. I hope this review helps other couples know what questions to ask and what to look out for when working with HL.

She was enthusiastic, and had great tips on how to implement our ideas. She has totally customizable service, meaning you can choose the exact aspects you're looking for, within your budget. We hired Amanda for the day-of coordination - my fiance and I wanted to do the planning ourselves, but we needed help to make sure everything went smoothly on the actual day. We also added on catering guidance. Amanda worked in catering previously, and has a good handle of what to look for in catering contracts. She set up tastings with local caterers, and was able to accommodate our short trip in town. We met with Amanda at the venue a couple times, and she was always very responsive via email and phone. I know she handles a lot of events, but I never felt rushed. On the wedding day, everything went smoothly! I heard of tiny incidents after the fact that she took care of immediately. It was great to know that our wedding was in extremely capable hands, and my family and I could just enjoy the day. From the small things (making sure I had my shoes and phone in the getaway car) to the big things (making sure everything was on schedule!), she handled it all with ease and a smile. Brandon, the owner is notorious about dodging phone calls and failing to communicate properly. I was unaware of his poor management until the week leading up to our event. At that time, it was too late to shift gears. This company failed to deliver, and took advantage of a NONPROFIT. We were extremely disappointed in the communication, and deliverance. We prepaid for Drinkz By Designs services which included 8 staff members. We barely had half show the night of our event. Our event mind you, was our largest charity event of the year. We had our board members bartending and picking trash in blacktie wardrobes, and full gowns. We were mortified at the way our event unfolded. I DO NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. They really should not be in business with the way the conduct and handle business and communication.
