Let me just confirm the recent spate of reviews: Empanada Loca's delivery service is a joke. It took nearly three hours to get a delivery of a smoothie and three empanadas, and that included multiple phone calls to the delivery guy who would just blatantly lie. First it was that the smoothie spilled, so he had to go back to get more. An hour later, he was "five minutes away." Half an hour after that, he was "around the corner." Half an hour after that, he wasn't answering. Then he shows up, with cold empanadas and liquid smoothie, but without apology. Good luck staying in business if this is standard operating procedure (and judging by the recent reviews, it most definitely is). read more

Rosa, the chef behind Empanada Loca, is heating up the neighborhood with her authentic South American cooking. I guess she's from Columbia and she basically makes everything on the menu from scratch. The empanadas are wonderful, to say the least, but her home made sauces are out of this world. My favorite is the Salsa Verda Loca, which is basically liquified green onions, peppers, and some other stuff fresh ingredients. I've been eating here consistently ever since they opened. And while I know they hit a bump when they started their delivery service, they've really done well working that out by adding several delivery drivers. My sister and I went here twice while on our one week vacation in NY. We were staying in Brooklyn and after a lot of searching we found this comfy small place in a corner. The first time we went for lunch, and I had the chicken fajita quesadilla which were delicious! For desert I had a Nutella/banana empanada... OH MY GOD... No words to describe how amazingly Yummy it was... A must have! The second time we went here for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast loca, which included two eggs, house potatoes, sausage, bacon, ham and pancakes (you can choose between pancakes or french toast). Except for the pancakes, everything else was really good. The coffee here is also really good. Prices are affordable. Staff was very attentive and nice. DON'T order delivery from here. Placed our order at 8PM, was supposed to arrive by 8:45. Called the restaurant at 9:30, they say it's already out and it'll arrive in a few minutes. Nothing at 10PM so I call Seamless; by now the restaurant is closed but Seamless manages to get in touch and negotiates a full refund with the food still being delivered within a few minutes. We begrudgingly accepted, but of course-- we never got the food. Upon receiving them I was underwhelmed by the flavor. honestly I never judge a restaurant based off my first taste. However the sauce that came with it was amazing, I received 3 different sauces and out of those 3 their cilantro habañero was amazing. That was The sole reason I gave them a second try, and let me just tell you it was friggin worth it!!!! Now I was seated with four friends quickly. And the server was very attentive and friendly. She got all the orders correct. My food came out in good timing.
