The short girls with a big attitude who work here always answer the phone so rudely. Never getting business from me again. This place doesn't care about their customers. Not to mention the empanadas are so small for their price and extremely almost always salty. STAY AWAY! read more

Big thanks for the establishment reaching out. As said the service was an integral part of the dissatisfaction. Food is good and good food is always good read more

If you looking for the right taco, you definitely need to come and grab a quick bite at Empanada Loca, these tacos are full of Latin flavor, and that green sauce is the bomb, better than other restaurants that I've eaten at before. read more

This place is a go to spot in the slope! John is always beyond accommodating and welcoming. The entire crew creates a fun atmosphere and the food is great. Empanada Loca is family friendly and service is quick. The place is always clean and the decor makes you want to stay all afternoon. We typically get empanadas but their black bean burger is spot on! Next time we are definitely trying their CBD oil infused brownies and empanadas. read more

Empanada Loca has been one of my favorite restaurants in the area. However, I had such a negative experience last Saturday that surprised me. I had ordered 7 items for my birthday lunch and they only delivered one. I had called back twice (the span of 2 hours) to try to get the food but it was never delivered. Finally, since I was leaving my apartment I just called and asked for a refund. I was told I could obtain one but still have not received. I am incredibly disappointed because the food is really good but it made me waste time during an already busy day. read more

Over the past 9 months we have ordered empanada loca. For the first 7 months they were great but after our 4th bad experience in the last two months we are never ordering from here again. The food has been delayed over 2 hours three times in the last 2 months, including a driver ending up in Manhattan for a delivery somehow. Tonight, it took them 2 hours 40 minutes to deliver, had 3 empanadas made incorrectly. Not sure if you are under new management but after tonight's failure we will never order from you again. read more

As a vegetarian, this place is awesome! Good amount of menu options and the empanadas are a great size. Flaky crust and filled generously.

I ordered 3 empanadas and 1 Arepa Huevo for delivery for breakfast. It was all disappointing. The Reuben Wheat Flour Empanada contained 'pastrami' but it was not edible. There was fat and the texture was really off. The Arepa Huevo was an overcooked fried egg between what I guess was supposed to be arepa bread. It was sad. The other empanadas were okay. And the sauces that came with were good. Just a disappointing experience. Maybe it'll be better next time. read more

Man, I'm really disappointed. I LOVE(d) Empanada Loca - have eaten here legit a dozen times, ordered it as my birthday dinner and even brought family from out of town - but they must be under new ownership or something now. The menu is not as expansive - RIP the American - and the contents of their empanadas seem to have changed. The Andes is completely different, and worse for it (mine didn't taste like chorizo, and there was no cheese in it at all). The Pernil pork is no longer shredded; it's in cubes and weirdly fatty? I'm so confused and low key upset, because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. What happened, y'all? read more

Not great. I was expecting Argentine style empanadas with egg and ground beef and olives. They weren't on the menu so I got the ground beef (which I think they accidentally switched for pork), the pernil (which was OK, but small for the price), and the guava (which was terrible and gloppy). Small portions. Heavy frying. Not great flavors. I won't be back. read more

Awesome empanadas!!! Amazing sauces.. and a large selection of both empanadas and sauces... really try all of them.. all are really really good. Price is a bit much.. though the empanadas are made to order. read more

I stopped in today to get lunch; there were 2 customers seated and eating and 1 customer waiting on an order. I proceeded to the "please wait here to be served" sign directly in front of the cash register where a man with shaggy brown hair in his 20's was standing. He didn't acknowledge me. Not even a "Hello". I assumed I should wait for wait staff to be seated. One waitress passed by me and said nothing. I continued to wait. Another customer came in and stood next to me, the gentleman working the register immediately greeted him and asked what he would like to order. At this point I cut my losses short and left. I would have liked to have had lunch here since I've heard good reviews but with customer service like that or rather the lack there of I'll go back over to my regular empanada location. read more

I recently came here with a couple friends. I'm not a big fan of empanadas but the food here was amazing. I had the cheeseburger empanada and a chicken quesadilla and it was excellent. The servers are so nice and helpful with the menu. My server was Demetri when I went and he made my dining experience so enjoyable. He was so polite and helpful when I would ask him a million questions about the food on the menu. He did everything quickly and efficiently and it was a great service overall. read more

My friends and I met for a weekday lunch. We had a selection of empanadas, tacos and the tres leches cake. Food was excellent. Restaurant wasn't crowded and my friends and I were able to have a leisurely lunch without being rushed. Looks like they have a nice dining shed too, although it wasn't open when we were there. Decor and music had us feel like we were in LatinAmerica, and the prices were very reasonable. read more

I can only speak for food quality since ive only gotten delivery (Which has always been quick and accurate). But damn, I really wanted to like this place, have been really hoping for a good empanada spot to come close to me (aside from that one lady with the cart). The empanadas are sadly just okay though, some are kinda bland, the pernil isn't too bad, but the rest aren't anything to talk about. The "garden salad" is a straight up joke though. $11 for chopped up tomato, pepper and onion with the world's smallest portion of feta cheese. The other random things I've had from here like Nachos and Wings have been a solid average to below average of any other random spot. Overall, mediocre food. read more

So much to say...Empanada Loca is like a righteous warrior poet knight, riding in the bleak pandemic to bring awesome nectar and ambrosia to Covid-weary people. With an UNPARALLELED milkshake game, including almond milk and various mind-blowing additional options, EL is my first instinct in gustatory glory. Obviously the empanadas are gonna rock your world, but get weird and try an incredible arepa...I'm kinda basic and love the veggie burrito bowl. Thank you Empanada Loca. I am moving from my place on Tehama street to Beverly and Ocean Parkway and I PRAY I am still in the delivery zone. I salute you. read more

I would recommend this restaurant. The service was very good, friendly service. Our food was very good, the price was fair. The restaurant itself is ok, nothing special as far as the atmosphere goes. But it was good. I recommend it. Definitely coming back read more

This review is mainly for the poor communication and delivery experiences that I've received every time I've ordered for the past few months (I order quite frequently). One time, the delivery driver demanded that I tipped them after refusing to come upstairs so I had to come down in the middle of working, only for them to rudely have me run back upstairs to get a pen because they did not have one. On multiple instances, the delivery is later than advised which results in the tacos I ordered being soggy (I am only two avenues away, less than 10 minutes away); the food is not being delivered properly and is a mess in the container when it comes to you; the cashier gets my information wrong (phone number, card number, etc.), and most annoyingly, having an unapologetic or nonchalant response from one of managers most of the time when you try to follow up on your order. I appreciate that they cater to vegans with a small vegan selection, I usually order vegan tacos to my job which are really tasty. It's not entirely a bad experience since some of the people that work there are very nice and the food is yummy. It's just unfortunate that the delivery service is consistently awful and the communication from the team could be better which takes away from the whole dining experience. I am only two avenues over from the restaurant so it's perplexing to me how the delivery can be so complicated every time. I was debating if I should just stop ordering from here and today I gave them another chance but received the same poor delivery/customer service from the staff again. Personally, I don't think going through the hassle of poor customer service/delivery is worth it for some soggy tacos. read more

Ordered using Grubhub one night at work when I couldn't shake the craving for and empanada. Great find!! Working nights we're always skeptical about trying new places because if it's not right...not much you can do about it at 12am. Co-workers complained about the pricing a little when I pulled up the menu...Food arrived...NOT ONE COMPLAINT...too busy stuffing their faces ! So far I've tried chicken & beef empanada with both wheat and corn...and Fried Avacados ...co-worker tried a beef burrito bowl with hard shell...it's now her new favorite.Good service, they call you back quickly if what you're ordering is finished for the night and suggest substitutions *I love empanadas, tacos and burittos...I judge harshly...I will unfriend you for offering me TacoBell...lol* read more

It will not disappoint! I got a burrito, I do think that it is a lot smaller than it should be for the price but it was really good. The empanadas are very good, but make sure to eat them while they are hot. I saw that they have a Nutella empanada which was pretty good but I do not recommend over a regular empanada. read more

I'd like to say the empanadas are delicious. They truly are but the reason why my rating is low is because EVERY SINGLE TIME I go here to pick up food, all the empanadas are not in the correct bags. For example if it's a cheeseburger empanada it's in a bag labeled "mamacita" which is their shrimp and crab empanada Or vice versa which has been very scary for me because I have a high food allergy to shellfish. And not only did it happen to me but I recommended my friends to go here (which I felt stupid doing so) and the same thing happened to them where both their orders were mixed up in the wrong baggies. Unfortunately, I will no longer be going here because food allergies aren't being taken into consideration. read more

Good spot for empanada cravings. They have a large variety of empanadas and some other foods. I personally love the Angie empanada, their guac and chips and their grilled corn. Two things to keep in mind though: 1. it adds up and some other their dishes are a bit overpriced compared to other places 2. I've found them to be inconsistent with their dishes. Sometimes they're delicious, other times they're average. But I must say, they are good with their customers when they make mistakes and customer service seems to be important. They've messed up my delivery before but have been very willing to fix it. read more

I was browsing grubhub one afternoon and this place popped up. I decided to order from it. WORST.IDEA.EVER. first off, we ordered and waited for almost TWO HOURS for our food! not cool. we only ordered 4 empanadas and some chips. of course since we waited two hours, everything was cold and soggy which made for a really unappetizing meal. secondly, we paid 3 bucks an empanada for these tiny little things. what the heck. I called the place 2 times and both times, the person on the phone was not helpful. needless to say, we wont be ordering here again. sorry empanada loca read more

I ordered for delivery very skeptically since some of the reviews are so bad. I was happy to have received my delivery within the 30-45 min time frame. Some of the reviews that say the food is so disgusting I find really hard to believe after receiving my order. I ordered two empanadas, one beef and one chicken, chicken nachos and cafe con leche. The beef empanadas was delicious, the chicken one was very bland in flavor so I'd pass on that one. Nachos were delicious, their guac is really good too and their cafe con leche is sooo good. I'd go there for a beef empanada and cafe con leche and be happy. read more

My friends and I came here for lunch and I will say the food is great. The waiter was very nice and treated us very well. The outdoor seating was nice and comfortable. The dozen different empanadas we order were great. The spicy orange sauce was BOMB!!!! Yes, the sauce stood out. It complimented the empanadas very well. We will be back. It was a great lunch experience. Thank you. read more

You guys. The other reviewers weren't kidding when they said delivery takes 2-3 hours. Food was meh, but I imagine it would have tasted better if it wasn't cold. First world problems, I know. But I wouldn't waste my time/money on this place. read more

My friends and I came here for lunch and thought this was the best lunch we ever went out for. So I was completely surprised by the ratings of this place. I had the arroz con camarones, the paradise smoothie and of course for its namesake the gyro empanada. I loved everything I ordered and would definitely come back here. I didn't get our waitress's name but she was super awesome so I say to anyone who is hesitant give it a try for yourself! read more

Food is not bad. The burger meal used to be a good deal, but since they've raised the price I've found myself not coming as often anymore even though I work in the area. Usually the go-to burgers would be the 5th avenue burger with its caramelized onions with a side of fries. But not even the side of fries got smaller too. read more

I occasionally will stop here for breakfast or lunch. The menu can be somewhat overwhelming because there are so many options but ultimately most of the empanadas are good. Make sure to also try the sauces that come with the empanadas. Also, if you are an iced coffee drinker, they use coffee cubes instead of ice cubes. Such a big difference on a hot day when the cubes melt and it still tastes strong! read more

This place is great!! I love fried somethings over delicious stuff like empanadas and beef patties so I had been looking at this place for quite awhile. Upon entering I was anxious about the wait time but a very pleasant woman with an accent assured me that if I ordered the fried empanas it would be a short wait time and insisted I sit down. I was given a very large map, I mean menu to choose from which got my anxiety going but I quickly made an assortment of choices for $3 each. I quickly ran to devour my food but was a bit confused, where was the flavor? Most of the Ones I tried: Tommy , Andes, Caliente lacked a very important thing- SALT! Did they run out? The El Nino packed with shrimp, scallops and Crab had the most flavor followed by Big Boy which I think only had flavor due to the cheese. A lot of the so called spicy empanadas were not spicy at all and almost dry. Why High Stars? Service was wonderful and I still did enjoy trying out the empanadas. I will give this place another shot. They also serve other types of food such as breakfast, burgers and hot dogs and you can preorder online. read more

Ordered a Breakfast Burrito platter and a chicken empanada and when I received my platter I spotted a long piece of hair in my home fries. I told the waitress to take it back and asked just for empanada which she then asked me which one. I told her and then was literally told, "oh I forgot to tell you we don't have it." At this point I lost my appetite and just asked to make it two empanadas. The worst part was I didn't even get an apology or any effort whatsoever to make the situation better. I was seriously thinking the waitress was going to take my dish to the back, pluck the hair out and bring the same dish back! The actually beef empanadas were Ok at best. I've been ordering here for a few months and finally decided to give it the five star review it deserves. The empanadas always taste so fresh and delicious. I always order delivery, and it's always on time and the delivery person is always friendly and prompt. The empanadas are always labeled when you order to-go, which is great because that way you know what you're about to bite into! I've had almost all of them and they are the best empanadas I've had, ever. (Bold statement, but true). For my last order I had the Kale Salad and it was delicious. It came with a great mango dressing. Definitely recommended and a welcome addition to South Slope. Keep up the great work!! read more
