We ordered two arepas, one Caracas (shredded chicken) and one Pabellón (shredded beef). The pabellón was 5/5 because their meat was well marinated, however, the Caracas 4/5 one was a little bit dry and we needed a sauce to pour onto. Their homemade green sauce is really good. Greeted by friendly staff we sat down and ordered the chili empanada, the El Niño, and the sweet and savory. We also had the mango tango and green machine smoothies to wash it down. The empanadas will run you a little over $3 each, but are decently sized for such variety. The taste was great with a satisfiable amount of seasoning. I'm so upset that I only found this place a week before I'm moving out of the area. Solid food all around. My boyfriend and I tried an assortment of things, empanadas, burrito bowls, milkshakes, Maduros. Firstly, I'd come back solely for their milkshakes especially the Nutella one. Out of the Medellin, pernil, philly , and banana Nutella dessert empanada I would recommend the last two are Must-Haves. okay so first i had called this place to order a MINI bandeja paisa steak WELL DONE ( i literally throw up if i see blood) and i had asked to substitute the chicharrón and chorizo for a little more steak and they denied it, which is fine because of store policy and all i understood. Can't say much for the food since the girl that answered my phone call denied me the pleasure. I called at 230 in the morning as I was starving, had a bit much to drink, and was craving empanadas. The girl that took my phone call put me on hold for 5 minutes, hung up, and refused to answer the phone after I tried calling back. I would somewhat understand this behavior if they were busy, but it was 230 in the morning. I ordered from here on Postmates last night and I was pleasantly surprised! We had the chicken and cheese empanada, cheeseburger empanada, braised pork empanada, and the Philly empanada. I loved the chicken and cheeseburger empanada, and my boyfriend loved his chicken and Philly cheesecake empanadas. Overall, I'd give the empanadas a 4.5/5! This is a review for the service only. Came here around midnight. Friends and I wanted to sit down and eat. There were 3 other people who had already ordered for takeout. Took about 5 minutes for us to be seated which is fine. Waiter promptly asked what we'd like to drink first which we told him. After he brought our drinks out, we told him we were ready to order. Twice. He ignored that and walked to the back counter instead - to do what, I'm not entirely sure but there was certainly a lot of swiping on his phone. We kept trying to wave to him several times. He looked up once and looked at us for a couple of seconds before putting his head back down. A couple came in and he walked back up to the front and we tried to flag him down again, only for him to give us the "just a minute" finger and he attended to the couple who walked in. At this point, we had had our drinks for a little over 20 minutes, so we decided that enough is enough. We left money on the table for the drinks and decided to leave. He finally came over to us as we were walking out the door to ask, "Oh, you guys don't want to order first?" All I could say was, "we left money on the table for the drinks but you took too long playing with your phone rather than come over and take our orders so no thanks." Honestly, it's kind of sad because we were looking forward to trying this place out based on the reviews about their food but the service was well below lackluster. How do you leave your customers sitting there just waiting for so long? With there new renovations not only has the setting changed but so has the taste, among other things. Before, we could order one empanada per flavor but now each flavor comes with two leaving you with less options. Not only are the options of empanadas minimal but so is the menu, especially for such a nice setting. The chicken melt empanada was my favorite before but the taste just isn't quite the same. Not to mention the instant stomach ache me and all my friends had after finishing our empanadas. They used to bring complementary sauces for the empanadas and now they charge $1 for each one. They always forget something, over also received my food ice cold even when picking up the order myself. They are very stingy with the green sauce for the empanadas, they charge almost a dollar for the smallest thing of extra sauce. This place can't get it's act together. Came in once around midnight to order empanadas and it took forty minutes from the time I called to the time my food was ready. Every staff member told me something different and the constant "it's almost ready" just made things worse. The empanadas weren't bad so I waited a few months and called one day to place an order. This was during the afternoon, so I guess they had the music playing loud. The person couldn't hear my order, was confused when I said a chicken burrito bowl, couldn't tell me how much the food was or how long it was going to take without putting me on hold. Frustrated, I decided to hang up, probably still upset about waiting such a long time when I ordered last. Now, kitchen delays are unavoidable. Unmotivated staff taking orders are another issue, but that plagues the entire industry. The nail in the coffin for me with this place was a hair in the most recent order I made. $16 meal with a long hair, right on top of my rice. read more
