On St patricks day Elmers had Corned Beef and cabbage. I was EXTREEMLY surprised it was the Best Corned Beef and cabbage i have ever eaten. The only problem is, it was Excellent and should be on the regular menu its that good. But i have to wait a whole year to get more. read more

I went to Elmer's with my grandparents and we stopped in Grants Pass on our way up to Seattle. I had found this place on yelp and decided to try it out. We had dinner for three on a Monday night and the service was friendly and prompt. I had breakfast for dinner and chose to have the German Pancake Fruit Combo. I chose the Northwestern triple berry topping, eggs over easy, and honey cured ham. The pancake itself was amazing but the fruit was just so-so. When I had first ordered it, my grandma thought it wasn't going to be enough food, but when the pancake arrived... It was HUGE!! It was the size of the plate which was at least twelve inches in diameter. The eggs were cooked as I asked and the ham was pretty good too.Overall I had a great meal. My grandpa had the 9 oz prime rib. It was cooked medium just as he had asked and was very tender. It came with a baked potato and a very nice "yellow bowl" salad. It as well was a very nice meal. My grandmother had the salmon and said it was alright. It came with rice and a salad. Overall the food was pretty good, our waitress was very pleasant and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean and well kept. If you are looking for good American breakfast, lunch, or dinner, go to Elmer's! read more

My wife and I were in Grants Pass for a wedding and stayed at the Best Western which was conveniently located in the rear of Elmer's. Being Northern Californians we had never heard of "Elmer's" but were extremely impressed with Elmer's extensive menu, their very efficient and cordial wait help and the prices! The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and clean. I would highly recommend Elmer's and will miss all of the smiling faces of the wait staff as well as its food. If you go there ask to speak to Trina Gillen and tell her the "Hawaiian" guy from San Jose recommended her fine restaurant. She's the manager and a wonderful lady! read more

I had the german pancake it was delicous. If you have never had one I recommend trying one. My wife had the crab and shrimp omelet, it was made with REAL crab! Our breakfast was so good, I will be a regular from now on. I really liked the environment, the servers were great and the manager came out to see how our food was and to make sure it was up to standards. I had a breakfast here the other morning, a fried egg, bacon and cheddar sandwich, really good! Had a choice of hash browns or fresh fruit, fruit was indeed fresh! Better than average chain restaurant coffee, and the large fresh squeezed OJ was served in a pint beer glass, now that's a large OJ! Waitress was very nice, service was quick yet still friendly. It really appears that this chain actually cares about quality and strives for repeat business. read more

I don't really care for the Elmer's chain in general but, the one in Grants Pass is the exception. The food is always good, I love their Vegetarian Omelets with no Hollandaise sauce. The service on the other hand is hit and miss. Maybe their Staff should go through Restaurant Service Etiquette 101. read more

I always stay at the Best Western and Elmer's is right next door. The restaurant is consistently clean, has above par staff, and great food. The quiet little bar in the back is perfect for a cocktail and conversation. I look forward to next year's visit. read more

This is a little Oregon chain of restaurants. I loved that the salads used very fresh ingredients. My kids enjoyed their breakfast options, but they were too "fake" for my taste. Waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. read more

This Grants Pass Elmer's is run incredibly well. The staff is always on it. The food is trustworthy, predictable, fast to the table most days, and extremely affordable. Have been here many a Sunday post church and never once had a bad meal. It absolutely crushes our local Denny's, Shari's, and Applebee's in every way they are similar. And in none of the ways they are different would I go back to any of those three over this local Elmer's. read more

This was an over priced dinner for the quality of the meal. My husband got the pot roast which was loaded with salt - they used way to much kitchen bouquet in the gravy which always makes it way to salty. There was just a small bit of meat on a hugh pile of mashed potatoes. The clam chowder was barely warm. I got the "signature" chicken fried steak, I could have gotten the same thing at Denny's for much less. The meat had an after taste of cheap meat. We had a glass of Zinfandel for 4.95 a glass for a 4-5 oz glass, which wasn't even to the top but still was the best part of the meal. Was not worth the $30 we paid. This was in Grants Pass OR. The waitress was bad also, she only checked back on us once, left the check and never came back again. I will admit she got busy but come on if you can't do the job???? She didn't have that many tables. We only stayed and ate because we were starving. The one in Roseburg is much better. read more

Friends took us there for Breakfast but they were late. We arrived between breakfast and lunch. Very personable server...good food. Some had breakfast and some had lunch. Coffee was fresh. The parking lot was almost full and even with that the server was so friendly and on top of the needs at our table. read more

Our first time at an Elmers and it was a great experience! Coffee was hot and refilled opten; breakfast was so good that we only had a couple of pieces of bacon left for the dogs; service by Trish was attentive and friendly; restaurant is exceptionally clean in the front of the house with up to date decorations. Yes, I am a fan but Thursday evening must be a hard night for some of the associates to work. While the food was very good for a diner the service for take out orders was not up to par. They got the wrong price on the ticket which can happen but then once we got back and opened the order we noticed they forgot soup. While it was only soup I do wonder how many times these type of issues occur with no reporting them. While I won't be deterred by the inadequate front of house I do hope they report this up the chain of command and get it fixed for the next customer. read more

SO I drove here to Grants Pass to visit my friend who lives in the hills by Murphy. This is my first time actually coming out to the west coast and I have to say this is some beautiful country. Anyways my friend John and I wanted to get breakfast so I asked him where is the best place in the area to eat. and he mentioned that he liked Elmers. So long story short we decided to go here for breakfast. I thought it was kinda like a dennys so I really wasnt expecting very much, boy was I proved wrong. When we entered the restraunt we were promptly greeted, even though it was really busy this being a sunday and all, and had a nice seat next to the fire. The atmosphere was delightful with great pictures hanging on the wall and pretty nice decorations. Our server, I think his name was Scott, came over and suggested that we try a cappicino. Honestly it was okay but not the most amazing lol. So we sat there looking over this extensive menu and could not decide on what to eat. So over came the manager Zac and he suggested that we try their German pancake. Holy crap was that a fine meal, buttery sweat lemony crepe type slice of heaven. Wow I wonder if I can get the recipe it was that damn good. Between the manager and our server our water was always filled and we got filled in on the history of elmers. I can say that I will have to come out this way far more often now just to get that pancake. If anyone comes through Grants Pass this has to be your first stop. Driving from Mt Vernon to Hanford, CA and stopped in for a break. The host was very pleasant, Hope was friendly and happy to be there, and the place was very clean. Enjoyed the potato cakes and Michael had bacon & eggs. He said the coffee is better than Denny's. read more

My husband and I have eaten at Elmer's many times over the years. I consistently have ordered their Oriental Chicken Salad, which was great. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner today (3PM) -- the Oriental Chicken Salad is no longer on the menu. Bummer! I had a hard time finding something to order, as most of the menu is breakfast, and the rest of it is predominantly fried food. In fact, their fried food items on the menu have increased in number since we last ate there. I ended up ordering cod w/rice and vegs. The meal was bland and flavorless. My husband ordered a chicken fried steak, which he is usually very happy with, but he said it wasn't particularly good either. His clam chowder was the consistency of gravy. No bread was served -- our waitress informed us that they only serve bread with meals after 4PM, so we were out of luck on that front. She did bring my husband a biscuit, which she was going to charge us for but she changed her mind. He only ate half of the biscuit, because the quality was so poor. He's normally a big biscuit fan, but even the biscuits weren't up to snuff. So...after lackluster service, mediocre food and a menu that doesn't offer much in the way of healthy food, we're done with Elmer's. It's probably fine for breakfast, as that's what they are known for and what most of their menu is dedicated to, but it's not a good place for lunch or dinner in our experience. read more
