I love a diner for their big portions, reasonable prices, and bottomless coffee. This place was no exception. It was everything I wanted. Friendly, attentive service and the biggest cinnamon roll I've seen. My friend and I split it, though we devoured that thing in seconds. It was so delicious, and secretly, I could've eaten one on my own even with my meal. For breakfast, I did opt for their lighter side option which is one egg, a little bit of hash browns or breakfast potatoes, and two strips of bacon (or sausage) plus choice of bread. Even though it was lighter, I got the biscuit WITH butter and jam, no shame in my carb game. If that wasn't enough, they have a large selection of pies, so we each took one slice to go. I got the lemon sour cream, and it was the perfect post-dinner treat after a long day of hiking. The place felt very homey, and you can tell there were a lot of regulars, but they were equally welcoming to us out-of-towners just passing through to explore the beautiful trails surrounding them. read more

Looked for a roadtrip lunch spot and grateful for this gem. Portions were big and great value for ~$30 for kiddos' grilled cheese, biscuits and gravy and BLT with tater tots. Someone reviewed the biscuits as great and they did not disappoint!!! Even the children's grilled cheese impressed me. Wow. Been coming here for many many years. Food and service has always been good. Went yesterday before 8 for breakfast, came in front door and sat down. Just a few customers and one blond waitress. Waitress was busy looking at pictures at the cash register on a customers phone. This went on for over 10 minutes. She did not acknowledge that I came in. No menu. No coffee. No water. Another black haired waitress came in around 8:00 at about the same time another couple of customers came in. The two waitresses had a short discussion, and the waitress with black hair immediately brought the couple that had just come in water, coffee, and menus while the blond waitress ignored me even though I was sitting right in front of her while she now looked at her phone. Enough is enough and I walked out. Had a nice breakfast at Mimosas, and I will never be back to Powderhorn. read more

The morning offer is a basic breakfast fare...so if you haven't had any food for a week it's good but if you desire more...SKIP IT! The deep fried potatoes taste like a potato on vacation...devoid of any flavor. I left 80% of the food on the plate hoping for a reincarnated meal. No such lunch! Ate here twice during our stay in Grants Pass. Breakfast is really good. Service makes it even better.

This is a good old fashioned basic breakfast diner. The portions are filling, the service is fast, the food is made to order (all special requests done perfectly) in record time on a Sunday afternoon. The coffee is ok and plenty hot. No muss, no fuss. 3 egg all meat omelette was packed with bacon, sausage and diced ham and cheese. Substituted hash browns and toast and traded for 2 plate sized pancakes (no charge for substitution) =$16.95. Extra butter and a container of syrup was super convenient and an easy ask. Enough for leftovers to-go. 2 eggs, 1 bacon, 1 sausage link, comes with "home fries" and choice of toast = $10.95. Made exactly as ordered in record time. The home fries are just plain diced potatoes deep fried perfectly cooked (fully cooked, but not squishy in the middle). The sourdough could have almost been white bread, not sourdough tasting (just basic). House coffee is $3.50 with refills upon request. The coffee is just ok, not bad, but nothing special. Skip the coffee unless you really like coffee in the mornings. I would recommend this place for a hearty local breakfast, nothing fancy. I think people like their big cinnamon rolls, but they only had big ones. Some smaller ones to go would be handy for a road trip. read more

When in Grants Pass this is a must stop. The croissant sandwich was amazingly good. Eggs were cooked prefect, hash brown nicely cooked. Wait staff was really friendly and attentive and last but not least the giant cinnamon roll was the highlight of the meal. Sorry no pics we were hungry. When we first got there it was hard to get attention for getting a table, so we stood at one to be cleared, while others who arrived after us were greeted and seated, maybe because we came in the backdoor? Not once did any of the servers make eye contact or be aware that people might need something. When we ordered we asked for more syrup and was told in a minute. We waited and ate before it got cold, the requested syrup never came nor did she ever return to our table to see if we wanted a fill up on coffee and if our food was ok. When we got home and checked the receipt, it said we should of tipped more, as is, we gave 10% even feeling that was to much. Tipping is a gratuity for thanking for good service, tipping should never be expected it is earned. read more

We usually get decent food here. However, today, Friday 2/21, my wife and I went here for lunch. We both ordered cheeseburgers. When I took my first bite, something about the burger did not taste right. I ate about half of the burger and did not finish it. About 20 minutes later, after we were home, my wife and I both had a bad case of diarrhea. Since that was the only thing we had to eat that day and the bad taste of the meat in the burgers, more than likely, the meat was old and spoiled. I don't know if it's a new hostess or what but if the sign says "seat yourself" you should be checking on tables. We sat in the side room and it looked like two different tables had also sat there before us & who knows how long they were there but after 10 mins of us waiting they got up and left, then the hostess said in a off putting tone how we need to let her know we are there, then proceeded to get our drink order and then got two of the drinks wrong. The food is reliable, down home cooking. Great hash browns, so crispy. I always take a piece of pie home (unless they have their divine bread pudding!) when I go there for breakfast (at least once a week). Lunches are very good also: the half sandwich and slice of pie for lunch is one of my faves. And after 3 visits or so, you're pretty much a "regular" and it feels like visiting family. They make the most delicious pies I have ever eaten in my 58 years on this Earth. They cream pies are all made from scratch like everything else here. They have so many yummy varieties but I adore the Banana Cream the most. Excited to try their fruit pies. Also have eaten here for lunch and had the best veggie burger and fries. How in the hell does this place have ANY good ratings?? Stopped in for breakfast on my way back home this morning. I came here because a quick Google search gave it high marks. I'm a fan of supporting local establishments, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Big mistake. I had the daily special which was the Country Scramble. It was advertised on their reader board out front as a mixture of homestyle potatoes, topped with eggs, gravy, etc. What a mess. It was nothing more than a bunch of flavorless frozen cubed potatoes dumped out of a bag, fried up with some peppers & onions. The scrambled eggs were OK, but they were drowning in cheese. Glad I ordered the gravy on the side. Gravy was bland. I mean REALLY bland. And for all this and a cup of coffee, I shelled out $20.00. I wish I had just stopped at McDonalds and gotten an Egg McMuffin or something, It would have cost less than half, and tasted 2x better. Won't be going back. read more

Powderhorn used to have exceptional food. What happened? Sausage gravy is bland, omelets aren't great and they say they are famous for their homemade hash browns. Try squeezing the liquid out of the grated spuds and let them air dry a bit. You might get non gummy and starchy hash browns. Believe they use frozen cubed potatoes for their home style potatoes.
