Special shout out to waitress Ashley. Today we had skipped lunch, so my wife and I were pretty hungry by late afternoon. We appreciated Ashley hostessing and waiting about 5-6 tables by herself. This was just before the official dinner hour, so the staffing was correct. They just happened to have a wave of people today. I hope someone from Elmers see this review and gives Ashley a little praise. For someone reading this who is not familiar with Elmers: Good traditional American style restaurant. Nice and clean facility. I like their German Pancake dish. It is similar to one my mom made. Tonight I had the Flat Iron Steak. It is a good portion and decent meal. My wife had the Rueben sandwich. Best part of leaving California and coming to Oregon is eating at Elmer's on Biddle Rd. Everyone here is super nice the food is always great. It always feels like going to your family's house for a meal. We're here for breakfast but so can't wait for dinner. The Dutch baby pancake or German pancake was massive. It could easily feed 2-3 people. I will definitely be taking that with me today. It's too delicious to leave behind. I don't eat a lot Mark always says I eat like a bird. Picture it: September 2025 (it is late July of 2026 at the time of this post) and after waking up at the rest point of 2day travel from Washington I stop at this wonderful with a beloved aunt. It was a decently busy place, we didn't wait more than 15-20min to be seated. We kept our orders small and the waitstaff sensed we would enjoy shared plating. It was great to have our needs anticipated like that. Clean tables, bathrooms, and classic style of diner decor. The lingonberry was delicious on our Dutch baby pancake. My aunt made sure I knew her eggs were made to dietary restrictions. We promised to leave a review and it's a place I've thought about for almost a year. Not the same quality it used to be. $4.50 for mediocre coffee. Biscuits and gravy were strange, gravy was a yellow color, like it had been made with water. Gravy barely covered the biscuits and its main flavor was of salt. Service was excellent, but food quality was not great. Looks like they are cutting costs and customers are the ones who suffer. Biscuits were dense, not fluffy, and seemed like they were from a can. Please bring back the quality you used to have. read more

Solid breakfast restaurant--typical American breakfast fare made fast at a reasonable price. The German pancake was awesome--like an eggy but thin enormous pancake. I asked our waitress which German pancake she prefers, which was the Lingonberry jam one, and she was spot on correct. I'd recommend to eat these by cutting them into small pizza slices, add a bit of that jam on top, and then rolling them up. Awesome treat. Service was great--efficient and friendly. My second time to visit this location. It was just as good as my first. Excellent service, food came to me hot, and perfectly made. You are not at McDonalds, nor Denny's. Elmers in this location is more than just a few steps above the competition. It blows them out of the water. Southern hospitality in the Pacific Northwest? Yes! Service does not get better anywhere at any price. Debbie was exceptional but judging by the other reviews here exceptional service is not. I had a double order of the Northwest Hash browns. I asked Debbie what they were and she says just regular hashbrowns but with potatoes sourced here. Makes sense. They were very good: thick layer of crispy with some soft in the middle. Cut wider and slightly thicker than regular hashbrowns. The bacon was big, thick, and perfectly cooked. I did not have to ask for it crispy. It tasted almost like a well seasoned pork-chop. I love well-seasoned pork-chop! Super unsweetened iced tea. A great meal all the way around! read more

When passing through Medford, OR I stayed a couple of days within walking distance to Elmer's and took advantage of the convenience. So late one Sunday evening I found Elmer's to be open when many other restaurants were closed. There ha always been a moderately large crowd dining there but not at the time that I decided to stop by. Even though I was one of the few patrons, the manager and servers greeted me as if they were glad I was there. They paid attention above average attention to ensure my familiarity with the menu was sufficient and my drink needs were met. We chatted while I was enjoying enough food for two just because I wanted to try the German Pancakes with my more traditional eggs, bacon and hashbrown-dinner breakfast. All of my order was quickly prepared and delicious! I could have eaten it all in the restaurant but wanted to save some for breakfast the next morning in my hotel. The servings were plenty enough to do that and I still felt overly satisfied and ready for a leisurely evening. In summary, the staff made the whole dining experience a pleasure, as well, the food was just like your mom would make it (assuming your mom was a good cook). Ordered a pancake. They used to be the size of a dinner plate. Got my order. It was the size of a pancake you get from McDonald's. Charged 5$. Got my money back and went to another breakfast restaurant and got what I originally wanted. Won't be going back to Elmers anytime soon. read more

First & last visit to this place. Three tables of customers, no one was being helped. Went in, sat down waited and waited, stood up, saw the hostess playing with her phone in front of the cash register, no waitress then noticed $17.50 for a stupid cheeseburger and said we will go where we get good service and a professional staff. Talk about an old stand-by!!! This is THE place for a meal that will give you a flashback to your youth. Not many of the patrons are under 60, so you know it is "pandemic safe". We were staying a nearby hotel so this was an easy choice for breakfast. Elmer's was super bu-sy both Saturday and Sunday but the wait wasn't long. Hostess seated us and coffee was enjoyed while we waited for our meals. Not fancy. Diner. Casual, dated ambiance. Family friendly. Regulars and travelers. Service was super friendly and efficient, including the manager who checked on us both days. Day two, we almost felt like family/regulars. :) Everything we ordered was just as requested. Day 1: coffee only for me, hubby had eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. Bacon was crispy. Eggs were nice and yolky. Pancake was fluffy and huge. Day 2: hubby got scrambled eggs, bacon and French toast. He loved everything. Thick bread x3 = he couldn't finish everything! I ordered the "Looking for Sun" Omelet. Delish! Filled with bacon cheese, green onion, salsa, fresh avocado and dolloped with sour cream. Simple and straightforward but everything was spread out so well that each bite was "perfect." The servers and staff are always welcoming and accommodating. While this place is a chain, they food is REALLY good. I primarily come for the perfectly thick cut ham and German pancakes, which are one of a kind. If you have never had one, may I suggest asking your server to give you a little bit of everything: syrup, fresh fruit, lingonberries, butter, lemons, and powered sugar so you can decide which way you like them the most. read more

We have ate at Elmer's four times in the last six months. We will never go there again. There's consistency is absolutely terrible. The prime rib we tried. It came out cold so we walked out. We recently went and had breakfast there. The meal was half the size that it used to be they are so skimpy on the gravy. It's pathetic. Don't waste your time on a $20 breakfast and a four dollar cup of coffee. Save your money and get a better meal. Go to McDonald's and get twice a meal for a quarter of the price never in life would we eat at Elmer's again and we have a lot of friends that feel the same way too bad used to be very good. They have their famous German cake, which reminds me of funnel cake but its thinner dough. Anyway, it was a good try. We order other items like crab omelet and that was excellent. I visit Southern Oregon at least annually and my favorite restaurant is Elmer's and my favorite sandwich is the Cascade Club. On my most recent visit to Medford yesterday I had the pleasure of having Lance as my waiter for lunch. I've never had a bad experience at Elmer's and Lance continued the tradition of providing exceptionally fine and professional service. Today I was in Grant's Pass and had breakfast at Elmer's there. Once again superior service was provided by Trish. As a retired business owner I greatly appreciate the consistently friendly and customer-service oriented staff at these two Elmer's locations.
