Fello Californian here , 1) I just want to say thank you to the FRIENDLY STAFF for treating us ( Latino Family ) like a regular human! 2) food was amazing, you can taste the freshness My family and I came up here for the weekend. Just a quick trip. Right before heading back home we stopped by to have breakfast. Best decision we've made. As soon as we walked in (5 of us) we were automatically greeted, people were smiling and all friendly. We felt welcomed. Usually when going out as a big crew we get stared at. Poor service etc. Just overall rude. NOT this place! From the bottom of our hearts we want to say thank you. Service was great and quickly. But speaking as a visitor (I'm from Portland), it's an excellent place if you're looking for a good diner breakfast. Planning to do a long day of moving stuff or shopping in Medford? Fortify yourself at Varden's. The cafe has a cozy, traditional diner feel and decor. I recommend sitting at the padded stools at the counter for the full effect; you'll get a chance to exchange small talk with the server. Options include both the basics (eggs, bacon, pancakes), as well as slightly more interesting options (zucchini/sausage/pepper scramble). Decided to try this place after my aunt came here and loved it. The place itself is unimpressive, I would not have come in if I had just seen it. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was good. We had biscuit and gravy, I loved them my husband thought they were decent but not great. We also had french toast, it was good. The bread was a little thin, but it still tasted fantastic. My husbands eggs were great, cooked perfectly. The bacon was thicker, better quality and good. Gene and his crew do a great job! When we head out for breakfast Dolly Varden's is our go to choice in Medford. Prices are good and the food is fresh and tasty. My go to is ham, eggs and pancakes and my wife can't get passed the chicken fried steak. Great food, good people. read more

First timers dinning here. Very friendly staff great food and fresh tasting coffee. I had the ham and eggs, great tasting ham and the eggs were cooked to my liking. I had a side of gravy to sample and it was very good as well. We will be stopping by here for something to eat in the future. A big store with great deals is a couple of doors down so when we are done there we might try some of Dolly Varden's lunch menu. read more

I just popped in to Dolly's for a quick lunch before shopping, and had my usual French dip. It is always good, consistent, and reasonably priced. Our family enjoys breakfast here once a month or so. The "daily double" is one of the best values in town, and our kid's favorite. The owner, Gene, is always around and will even warm up our coffee! He is very personable and the wait staff is always friendly. We have been coming here for 20 years since moving to the area, and have never been disappointed. Mediocre, at best. Nothing here is remotely healthy or high quality. To their benefit, I've never seen them make a claim of either. One plus is that they're never busy, so it usually isn't much of a wait. I would Conner here again in a pinch. I've been three times previously, only because it was close to my home and a good meeting spot. But the prices are a bit out tere for the basic, greasy spoon fare that you get. read more

One star is generous. This was by far the WORST service I have ever experienced. We wanted to try somewhere new for a special occasion and were sorely disappointed. Not only was there a long black hair cooked into my scrambled eggs but when it was brought to the attention of, I assume, the owner he said that it wasn't their fault! The hair didn't come from their kitchen! We were so offended by his tone and non apologetic service we left. For the record I could see all the cooks in his kitchen and not one of them had a hair net. And for an owner or manager to come up to his patrons telling them that this was not the restaurants fault was completely appalling. Just bring the paying customer new eggs! read more

My girlfriend and I have been consistent customers of dolly's for the past year now, and they never cease to impress us. Great service, great food, great price! When they have a handful of customers or a full house, you'll always have a full cup of coffee and food promptly. We've bounced around almost the whole breakfast menu and there hasn't been one dish we haven't liked. They always have your ticket ready as soon as the food is out, hardly keep you waiting, and a personable staff who make you feel at home!
