Usually attentive friendly servers and greeters. Kitchen always a bit slow. Went in for lunch. Hungry! Not real busy. Got my Coke and water took my order then completely ignored me. Even other workers looked over at my table probably wondering what's going on. Well after about 30 minutes without a sideways glance from my server-- no apologies no reasons no excuses--nothing I got up and walked out. Don't go there if you are hungry. read more

The other day I place a phone order to go, they said 15 mins and I waited 15 before any staff addressed me even being there. Then hands me a to go paper box no bag no utensils or anything. The eggs requested were over medium got them as over hard, potatoes requested well done but were cold and barely cooked, corn beef hash was God Awful as well as cold. Okay breakfast @ Spicer's in Medford, OR. My waitress Lisa was great! She was very friendly, took my order promptly, and checked in with me regularly. The food itself was just ok. I did like the variety of vegetables in my omelette and it was good but a little greasy. The home fries were overcooked and the toast was too hard to enjoy. I would try something different next time. A solid three stars. The service was great...not sure what was missing for previous reviewers. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating. Service time to get food was excellent...we had four people in our party. They serve Bloody Mary's and mimosas. Offer daily specials. All of our food was good with the exception that my waffle was really dry. We had the daily omelet, French toast, and breakfast with linguica, 2 eggs, hash browns and choice of toast. When I go for breakfast I always order 2 things to test the water. A denver omelet & a pancake. For Spicers the pancake nice. Crispy outside & fluffy inside. Beautiful. Their omelet is hands down the best denver omelet in the valley. Packed full of ham, peppers and cheese. The egg wasn't rubbery. My server Ardeth ( I'm probably spelling it wrong) was awesome. Really good breakfast foods of all kinds. The burgers and crinkle cut fries are really good here. We go here a few times a month for breakfast/lunch and it's consistently good food. The service is excellent. All the gals that work at Spicers are just so kind and we always have good conversations with them. Their vegetable beef soup is really yummy, too. I get that, instead of fries, a lot of the time when I order a sandwich or burger. Really fresh salads, too. Husband often gets steak and eggs and it's always good. I visit Medford about once a month and usually have breakfast at Spicers. I have always returned because the food is good, the service is great and the atmosphere is excellent for a diner. Today, I was disappointed with breakfast. I ordered my usual which is a Ham Steak, two eggs over easy and hash browns. The disappointment came when I saw the "Ham Steak", it was so thinly sliced but the overall size was as it has been in the past. The "Steak" appeared to be a piece one would use on a sandwich. When my husband and I go out to eat we generally go to Spicers, but after today we will be taking our business elsewhere and will no longer recommend them to others. After being seated, NO ONE acknowledged us. Someone disguise as a server was busy talking to others at another booth. We got several sideways glances from him but no "be there in a minute" finger, nothing. This was the WORST SERVICE EVER. In the past, we have experienced great service even when they've been slammed. Today was not one of those days. Was he our server, we never found out as we deserved better service and decided to leave as they don't deserve our business as it was quite evident that their "give-a-damn" about customers is busted. Had a fantastic breakfast at spicers with my nephew 2ts and brother in law Shon. I was on my way back to Portland from medford-or and dint want anything real heavy like the chicken fried steak and eggs but man i saw an order and almost caved in....it was huge and smothered in gravy.... I was strong and ordered a club sandwich and boy they do not skimp on things...huge sandwich with fries and a cold cold glass of milk. Service was fast and very friendly. Our waitress was busy with several tables but she did not get bogged down always had a smile and came back apripriatly to check on us. Good, quick breakfast. Had the Country Style Scrambler. Always my favorite. Been here many times and it's consistently good. It was just around 10am so they were starting to get pretty busy when we got there. But good waitress and good food. They don't do half orders of the scramblers, but they split the plate for two at no charge. The portions are very generous. Am and will continue to be a returning customer. read more

Spicers has consistently good food. Today I ordered the Pastrami Reuben sandwich with a side of vegetable soup. The sandwich was good but the bread was too thin; by the time I was ready for the second half, the bread had become soggy where the condiments soaked through. Spicers used to be where we went out to eat breakfast. The eggs were always perfect and sausage was terrific. Since the covid problem things have gone down hill to the point we no longer go. Yesterday the hash browns were complete trash barely any brown color, and under cooked. Eggs were ok but the sausage is no longer any good. We always support locally owned restaurants but only if they earn it. They did lower my bill but I'm more than happy to pay more if they would hire a decent cook. The Eggs Benedict were rather good and the biscuits and gravy were OK. I prefer mine with a strong sausage flavor and these were mostly seasoned with pepper. Don't expect anything special....I had the chicken fettuccine and cream of mushroom soup (homemade and delicious - best part of the entire meal), followed by a lemon meringue pie (very plain). Many of the items were "slapped together" without much care. Some of the things were obviously frozen a few minutes ago (like the onion rings my boyfriend had, and the burger). Even though I was hungry, I could tell that they didn't spend too much time preparing their meals. It lacked that "home-made" specialty that you get in many other places. We went there for lunch and split a meal. Food was okay, but it wasn't amazing. The chips were hard and overcooked so we had to trade them for regular fries. We added 2 chicken strips to our meal and that cost $4.90, which is a lot in my opinion. Everything was very salty. What was a shock was the price for everything. $30 for a split meal in a diner? Crazy. Everything was very expensive and the food wasn't worth the cost. Probably won't go back, since you can go to Ram or somewhere nice and get 2 meals with drinks for that same price(or close) and the food it actually well prepared and good. read more

I like breakfast. I like eggs and pancakes and good ol' turkey sausage. My boyfriend and I like to go out to breakfast on the weekends and share a big meal. We heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try. What a mistake. First of all, it's all the way out on Crater Lake and we passed about 3 other breakfast places on the way that blow this place out of the water. Second, there were flies everywhere which was disgusting and confusing to me. How did an indoor restaurant get so many flies in their dining room? Third, which deserves its own paragraph, is the wretched food. How hard is it to make some scrambled eggs? I say "Please do not overcook my eggs" and they come out greasy and rubbery. The pancakes tasted like salt. That is all I ordered. Bad coffee. Bad eggs. Bad pancakes. Three things I can whip up at home in no time, for way less money, without getting dressed and driving over to Crater Lake. I will never go back. I told the waitress I didn't like my eggs, she disregarded the fact that my pancakes weren't barely touched. She took them off the bill but didn't say anything else.
