Stopped in to try it out and got the sweet tea breakfast burrito and wife got the mushroom Swiss burger with fries. We were both commenting how good everything was: breakfast burrito came with a side of pico style salsa which was the perfect foil for the richness of the insides, which were egg, potato, ham, bacon, sausage and a little gravy. This was seriously yummy and needed that pop of acid from the salsa so great together, nice one. The mushroom Swiss had a nice char from the flat top and fries were crispy and fresh tasting. All-in-all a pretty flawless execution for reasonable price and the portions were definitely large enough to share. We will be back to try more of the menu. Getting the jalapeño on the side was also a great addition in hindsight. No charge for that and they grilled it to take down the heat a bit. What else do you want from a little place like this? Wow! We were looking for someplace to grab a quick breakfast before heading north. My wife did a quick search on Yelp and came across this place We checked out their menu online. The breakfast menu includes plates, skillets, omelets, biscuits and gravy and burritos. The meat options include: bacon, sausage, pulled pork, Tri-tip, chorizo, brisket, ham pork chops and country fried steak. We did not even check out the rest of the menu. We decided to get breakfast burritos. We made a quick call to make sure they were open on Christmas eve, and they were. All breakfast burritos come with egg, cheese, hash browns, onions and peppers. My wife chose the BMP (bacon, mushroom, pepperjack) and I chose the Wilber (pulled pork and Carolina mustard) We arrived and walked inside. There were a few others, placing oders or picking up to-go orders. The place itself is simple and nothing fancy but appeared clean. There were a few tables inside and what appeared to be an outdoor seating area. When it was our turn, we approached the counter and our order was already bagged up and ready to go with the extra salsa we asked for. We opened the bag when we got the car and were surprised how big the burritos were. We each took a few bites and thought they were very tasty. The Wilber had a lot of pulled pork and the Carolina mustard was not over powering. I was really impressed with the taste. My wife said the BMP burrito was amazing as well. Came for the first time to try it for lunch the other day. I love BBQ, and my first thought was lets try the ribs. After looking over the menu, my husband and I ordered a full rack of ribs to share, plus 3 sides, the potato salad, the macaroni salad and the beans. Pros: Good amount of food, portions are generous! There was no way we could have finished everything, and brought quite a bit home for dinner. I liked the flavor of the meat with sauce, and the potato salad was good as was the macaroni salad. Cons: The baked beans were mushed up like refried beans, and I did not like the flavor at all, I would never get that side again. I could not eat more than a couple bites. The ribs, although decent taste wise, were tough and chewy. Not sure if that means they did not stay in the smoker long enough? Usually the best ribs are fall off the bone soft and tender. read more

Had lunch around 1 PM. A few tables were occupied. The place was exceptionally clean. Bought the Three Meat Trio; Pulled Pork, Smoked Brisket, and Ribs ($17.99) and soda ($3.39), a total of $21.83. My sides were; Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, and French Fries. Not impressed. All three meats were smothered in sauce, a basic BBQ sauce. They should have asked before if I wanted BBQ sauce, especially on the Baby Back Ribs. All three tasted the same. The Pulled Pork's BBQ sauce was a little spicier. Two of the three Ribs were undercooked and tough. None of the meat items were hot, just warm. The French Fries were great. I didn't like the Potato Salad, but that's a personal preference. The Macaroni Salad was tasteless. I also found some ice with the macaroni. So... Very large portions for both though. The metal tray is clever, but the cold items cool down the warm, and the warm items warm up the cold items. All the staff are friendly. And as I have mentioned before. Not a fan of a 'transaction fee' being charged for using my credit card. Also, not a fan at all of being forced into deciding on the tip before any service is given. I won't be back. This is for the bigger newer sweet tea across town. I didnt mind the 35min standing wait as given no waiting staff. An 8 top came in and were served before us. I went up to check on our order and it was visually obvious they had not even started cooking our order!!! I told the staff we were in a hurry and i went outside to calm down. I came back in appx 10min later and still NO FOOD. So we were at 55min. One of the staff was putting his ungloved hands in a 5 gallon bucket of pre prepped raw haah browns. Mind you there was us 4 plus 8 top and a cpl 2 tops and 5 or 6 staff, but yet we had to hear "how we'te understaffed". Apparently they had NO time to even toast my toast and served it to me anyways. There were 3 people working in the kitchen with 1 table seated and me waiting for my to go. I sat there for almost 20 minutes then finally asked if I was supposed to get my tea myself. I finally got my food and took it home only to find the fries were put in styrofoam and were soggy like they had been soaked in water, the beans were more mustard than beans. The smoked chicken didn't taste like it was smoked but was covered in BBQ sauce and rubber thick slices. The brisket and pork ribs were tolerable but not something I will go back for. Food is expensive and if I go out I expect WAY better service and food I can eat. I had to throw most of it away. So sad as I want to have places to go out to. This place is missing it completely D. I'm so disappointed in the service and the food we got today. We eat at sweet tea on redwood ave at least 4x a month. We always have the same thing. It's hit or miss on the service. We just deal with it most of the time because we like the food, until tonight. I tried to order over the phone, I was asked to hold. I could hear the person helping a Customer on the other end. When they were done I expected they would pick up the phone, they never did. I waited 15 minutes. I hung up and tried to call back, I kept getting a recording saying the mailbox was full. So my son in law drove down there. He told the person behind the counter that I had called and was put on hold, but no one got back on the phone and she very rudely said that never happened. So my son in law gave them the order. When he got home, my mom took 2 bites of the hamburger and she said it tasted weird. So she pulled it apart and the burger was burnt, not just alittle, it was inedible. We have dealt with good service, bad service, terrible service, but we've always had good food. We are all so upset that one of our favorite places would have people working there that just don't give shit about the food they sent home with my son in law. We have been here for breakfast a number of times, my husband loves their corned beef burrito. We have a number of birthdays in August, so we decided to have Sweet Tea Express do the heavy lifting and picked up bar-b-que from them for the big bash this past Sunday. We ordered 2 full racks of ribs, 2 pounds of brisket and 2 pounds of pulled pork. We even picked their macaroni salad as one of our sides. Everything was delicious, they included 3 sauces for us to choose from. There was NO brisket left (it was my favorite too!) and we got lots of compliments. My new favorite breakfast place! Don't worry about leaving hungry, their generous portions will not leave you wanting. Our first time here, we ordered the tri-tip skillet, the tri-tip breakfast burrito and a half-order of biscuits with gravy. All were delicious, home style dishes. Our first time eating at Sweet Tea Express and we will be going back. Great food and lots of it. Pretty laid back atmosphere. Grab a menu on the way in and find a seat. Once you figure out what you want, walk up and order it, they will bring it out to you once it's ready. No complaints from us other than their menu didn't show any meats for side orders, but after ordering, I was told they were getting new menus, so hopefully that will be resolved. I don't care for eggs, and most of what they have includes eggs. It is nice to see what I can substitute. read more

My coworkers introduced me to this place. It has been awhile since I had a good BBQ. There is plenty of sitting outside of you want to bring your pup. I ordered brisket sandwich and meat was flavorful and juicy. Cole slaw for me had a little too much mayo. Fries and onion straws are EXCELLENT!!! We picked up 4 of the breakfast burritos to share and sample the different types. The Sweet Tea was the favorite with the BMP a close second. The chorizo was tasty and the veggie was a little bland but with the salsa it was tasty. All were really good sized and 1/2 a burrito was plenty for the lighter eaters. Good stuff! read more

On 7/07/20, about 7pm, I called and placed a takeout order. The gal who took the order must have been new, because every question I asked her, she needed to ask someone else for the answer. I ordered two dinners and total bill was $30.98. I ordered a brisket dinner with baked beans and coleslaw. I also ordered the pork rib dinner with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. I inquired about BBQ sauce and was told they only use bottled Sweet Baby Ray's sauce on their meat, except for a Carolina sauce they use on chicken. That surprised me. No house-made BBQ sauce for meats at a BBQ place seemed odd to me. I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side. My son picked up the two orders. When he arrived home, we realized he was NOT given a receipt, and there wasn't any BBQ sauce at all in the bag, or on the meat either. I immediately called to complain. Asked for the manager, but apparently there wasn't one on duty because no one seemed to know who the Mgr was. I spoke to a woman about the order. She apologized for the oversight. She wrote down my name, ph no. and date. She said she'd post the paper on the refrigerator and would comp both meals next time I ordered. I told her I probably wouldn't be placing another order for at least 3 weeks. She said that's ok. Re the food - the worst BBQ I've ever had. Brisket was very dry and no flavor. Beans were very vinegary and not edible. Coleslaw was also not edible - believe it had raisins or cranberries in it, very tart, watery, and I didn't like the taste and neither did my son, who had it as one of his sides. His ribs were also very dry and tasteless. The star of the meal was the sweet potato fries, which were great. Overall, we were both very disappointed in the BBQ and the two other sides. So on 7/27/20 - I emailed Greg at Sweet Tea Express. I wanted to give them another chance and try a different BBQ platter, the pulled pork sandwich platter, with those great sweet potato fries, to see if perhaps it was better than what we'd previously tried. Before I called them to place an order, I wanted to confirm with Greg that the note re our "comped" meals was still on their fridge, and if so, find out if I could try the pulled pork sandwich platter instead of what I'd previously ordered and didn't care for. It's now been 2+ weeks since i emailed Greg - still no response as of today. They do serve a good breakfast though. It's what made me want to see what their BBQ was like. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding!! Very friendly people working! I ordered the Tri Tip Philly! Sooo good!!! It had plenty of meat and the bread was soft and fresh!! Really bad... just paid over $100 for a Door Dash order from these guys, and wow. It's shocking. The Mac & Cheese looks like Kraft (or a knock off based on the length of the noodles) with some kind of cheese grated on top. The corn is warm canned corn. The ribs are tough. Complete disregard for human life! The cook did not have a face mask on and neither did the person taking my order. I asked them why they didn't have their face masks on and they said "it gets hot". I said well people are dying and I'm going somewhere else! I will never go to this place nor do I recommend anyone else go here! We had several different sides-jo-jo's, baked beans, sweet potato fries, Mac salad, and coleslaw. Our issues were with the Mac & cheese-sour sour sour. The kiddos were saying that something was wrong with it, and after we tried it, it was clear that it was spoiled and they had to now check the pre-cooked mac & cheese. So beware if you eat that now or in the future. The spicy chicken sandwich came out with everything EXCEPT the chicken. How does that even happen? Haha but it was a pretty hilarious situation.
