Excellent food and atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday night at 6:30 and it was crowded with a wait. . Be sure and make reservations (we did). Once we were seated it took about 15 minutes before we were waited on but that was because it was so busy. I was told 5:30 is a better time as it's not as crowded. You're served complimentary hot rolls topped with flaky salt and creamery herb butter which were delicious. The food was excellent. Photos posted of everything we ordered. Beautiful view of the Rogue River so I would recommend sitting outside. Great 5 Star Restaurant in Grants Pass that is a delight for visitors or if you're celebrating a special occasion. read more

River's Edge, right on the bank of the gorgeous Rogue River, is one of my MOST FAVORITE restaurants in Southern Oregon. This area currently has very, very few -- almost no -- great restaurants to choose from but this one of the few. Michael and I just came with a friend for lunch and it was fabulous as always. Debbie and Michael both have a sweet tooth. They went for two of the exquisite concoction of Jen de la Creme, the pasty chef. Our conversation quickly degenerated into moans!!! Debbie and I both had the meatloaf, which is not to be missed. Michael had the cheeseburger which was a work of art. Angie, our server, was fantastic. We love this place! Very busy restaurant with a great view and location. The food was also very good. We had started with salads (caesar) and they were well portioned and dressed with what seemed like homemade dressing which is a big plus. We had the Pork osso bucco which was delicious. very flavorful and came with a side of mashed potatoes and little gourmet carrots. it was finished in a light sauce that paired well with the tenderness of the pork. We also had the steelhead which was surrounded by a cream sauce filled with leeks and mushrooms. the seafood was atop two wedges of polenta, a very nice add that allowed you to soak up the sauce. We did not have reservations as it was late on a Thursday night. But, we had to wait close to 30 minutes to be seated. The hostess was nice and seated us with our dog on the patio. the place was still full at 7:30 at night. they have a musical group playing in the background which was also additive to the ambiance. The one negative was our service. Not very personable, we sat for another 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. No water, no explanation for the delay and no apologies for the long wait. Service improved after the place started to die down, but not a great start to the meal especially after waiting so long at the front. read more

I ordered 2 of the vegan sautes for myself. Food was tasty, service was good, environment very nice, but the portion for a plant based dish was not filling at all. I ordered 2 of the same entree for myself and I am still hungry 20 minutes after finishing. I am not an overly large fellow as well. Some restaurants tend to have a disconnect and don't seem to understand that vegan food is less calorically dense or filling vs animal based foods. To compensate for this fact a restaurant can easily serve larger portions, or perhaps add beans/lentils to dishes to make them filling. Even with a larger portion plant based dishes are far less expensive to make vs animal based meals so there's not really any good reason to not make portions larger/add a protein of some kind. read more

Came by for a nice dinner while spending time in Grants Pass. I can see how this place likely thrives in the warmer weather. Their patio overlooks the beautiful river but sadly wasn't open when we dined. I ordered the seafood pasta and my husband had the Filet Oscar. I was pretty let down by the pasta. It says it comes with four cheese cream sauce but it was more like a white wine sauce and was pretty bland. There was a good amount of seafood though. I tried my husband's steak and it was very good. The mashed potatoes with the béarnaise sauce were soooo good. Steak was like butter and they put plenty of crab on top. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. I think her name was Kaitlyn?? I live in SoCal, but this is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great, and the view from the patio is so beautiful. A couple of suggestions for improvement though: 1) the vegan option was delicious but needs protein. Tofu would be a great addition. 2) the AI reservation tool allowed us to make a reservation at 7:30 pm. While the restaurant was still open, they were understaffed, and we had some difficulty getting the patio table that we had reserved. The manager had to bus the table and wait on us (much appreciated but not according to plan I think). read more

We were looking for a good dinner spot for out son's birthday and the positive reviews pointed us toward this restaurant. We made reservations for an outside table and that definitely was the right move, as they had a guitarist playing some good background tunes and river sound was setting the mood. We were waited on by Danielle who was just absolutely lovely, she gave great recommendations and was the absolutely appropriate amount of attentiveness. My wife some rosé drink and I got a smoked old fashioned that was definitely not skimpy on the alcohol. We also got the melt in your mouth pork belly appetizer and some calamari which were delicious. I got the duck confit and my wife got the lamb which had a middle eastern flavor profile that was spicy and saucy, and was my favorite bite of the night. We felt really well taken care of and I'm jealous that the Grants Pass area has so many culinary gems in one location! I'm happy to have come here and would gladly come back if I was in the area again. read more

A friend of mine told me to check this restaurant out. We went for a late lunch/early dinner. We weren't disappointed. We sat outside overlooking the reiver. Although it was a little warm, the views were beautiful. Our servers were friendly and checked back on us often. We split a wedge salad which was huge and had calamari and pork belly appetizers. All of it was delicious and beatituflly presented. As we left, it looked like a couple of musicians were setting up to provide live entertainment. If I ever go back to the area, I will definitely go back. read more

We came for our 28th wedding anniversary. The ambiance was terrific. We were seated on the patio overlooking the river. The service was impeccable. My husband throughly enjoyed his salmon and polenta. My appetite is much smaller, and they graciously served me a side of prawns vs. an entire entree which were cooked to perfection. We had the calamari appetizer which we both thought was very good. The homemade rolls and herb butter were to die for. We also split a salad which could have fed four people as a side salad. It was delicious. The only things I can find fault with are their French fries which have no crisp to them, and the speed of which our food came to us. We had barely received our appetizer before our salad arrived, and moments later our entrees arrived. Next time I will request that we have our food delivered at less frequent intervals. Rivers Edge is located in an amazingly beautiful area along the river, offering three-tiered outdoor seating so one can dine while enjoying nature. They even offer propane heaters to keep you warm and a dining area for those who include their K9 companions in their travels. The attention and kindness they gave to my German Shepherd was very much appreciated! Word of advice: please only bring your dog if they are OBEDIENT- Don't ruin it for the rest of us. Now, the meals. The menu is not extensive- it is not fast-food, nor will you find burgers and fries here. However you will find your meals are specially prepared to perfection, fit for royalty and are delightful to the palate. Rivers Edge is definitely a "dining experience" to be enjoyed leisurely so that you can take in all the beauty of your meal. I'd definitely recommend. read more

Once again, Ricer's Edge excels in all areas. Terrific people, from the host desk to service, they are friendly and professional, ensuring a great experience. We split calamari and wasabi tenderloin appetizers, along with an entree of spicy pasta with vodka cream sauce. This was our second night in a row during this visit to town and, perhaps, our 8-10th time (maybe more) at River's Edge. Every time is outstanding. First I will say our service was very good with one exception. If I saw a patron that literally did not touch their entire plate of food I would definitely ask why? We were a party of 6 ~ 4 adults and 2 children. We ordered 4 appetizers. Calamari, steamers and ahi tuna all were good. Then dinner. A huge disappointment. 2 prime rib dinners, one crab dinner, which were just ok, wouldn't order again. Ribeye was the only entree that was flavorful and cooked perfectly. But... The halibut special was the worst meal I've had out in decades. Halibut over jasmine rice with a roasted corn and pea's with a beurre blanc sauce. The hailbut was the thinnest chinskyest dried out piece of fish jerky, completely inedible and the pea's you can see in the photo are dried and hard and the rice was like unseasoned cream of wheat and the beurre blanc was broken. The only good thing on the plate was the crispy prosciutto. $500 for a few decent appetizers and a ribeye was clearly not what we had anticipated. Sadly I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

To start with, we made a reservation.They said to sit outside by the water was first come first, serve. That you can't reserve a table down by the water. We arrived, four of us to celebrate a 46th wedding anniversary. We arrived asked to sit by the water, they said there was no tables.They sat us inside and we could see three empty tables that would fit four people. So last weekend I took a trip up to Portland... Wifey had no idea. Well that was until we got to the border. Then she of course figured it out...But a 12 hour drive definitely means one needs to take breaks. My late Stepfather Donald taught me that. So we decided to have lunch in a cool town on the way to Portland. That's how we came to Grant's Pass. Such a beautiful town. But one thing that immediately catches the eye of my love is bodies of water. Theres a river here and most importantly a restaurant along said river(I believe the Rogue River?). If you don't already know about River Edge, you definitely have to check out pictures of how it looks outside. It's so nice having the sound of water flowing while you're about to have bomb food. So definitely enjoyed that ambience. Foodwise, everything was amazing. We order all apps. There was the Blackened Ahi Tuna, Calamari and best of all the House Pork Belly. The first two were amazing. The squid and tuna were both cooked perfectly. For Tuna I really enjoyed the sauce that it came with and for the calamari I thought the breading was solid. But I gotta highlight the Pork Belly. This is easily the best Pork Belly dish Ive ever had. Texture was PERFECT. It wasn't overcooked and had a good crunch to it. But on top of that you have these shoestring potatoes for even more crunch and the star of the show: the Apple-Pear Puree. Oh wait, did I mention that the pork belly itself is also marinated in a Honey Bourbon sauce? Yeaaaaa...Needless to say my mind was blown. I had ordered a Smoked Old Fashioned and I am so glad I did. It peared like a charm. Heh. Because you know what time it is folks. Don't let these this crazy heat waves fool you. It's fall babeh. And fall means all the lovely fall flavors that make you think of curling up with a blanket or extra clothes on a couch in front of a fireplace. Pork Belly itself is already flavor overload but when you pear the flavor and crispiness with the apple-pear puree, it really takes you to that fireplace moment. It makes me think of when I was a kid and my mom would spend all day making a Thanksgiving meal for us but she had to of course make some sweet potato or pumpkin pie. And it just smells everywhere. No matter what room you are at in your home. That's the essence of fall. So long story short, I highly recommend that if you've never been here to order the Pork Belly. You won't regret it. If you like whiskey, you can further enhance the experience by getting the Old Fashioned. You won't regret it my friend. read more

So I decided to give this place a 2nd try after going for my birthday (a yr ago) and being very disappointed in the service. A party of 5 of us went for a lunch. The view is amazing! It took a 1/2hour to get our non alcohol drinks that we had to remind our server we ordered. By the way, this was the same server we had a yr ago who I am guessing hasn't had any further training since. We waited for an hour before finally getting our sandwiches/burgers for lunch. Luckily we ordered appetizers! My husband had a stomach ache for the following 2 days so we decided that was our last visit. We really wanted to give them another chance . While spending a few vacation days in Oregon, I stayed the night in Grants Pass on my way to Crater Lake. I was fortunate enough to come to this wonderfully situated restaurant for dinner. The patio is overlooking the river, and I had the apple salad followed by the Oregon Lamb Shank. It was all very delicious, and these dishes were magnificent examples of the Pacific Northwestern Cuisine creating new combinations with regional farm to table foods. The lamb shank was to die for; while maintaining the classic base, served over risotto and hints of mint leaves, this was combined with a sweet berry reduction, easily taking my award for the best lamb shank of 2024, no doubt. Rivers Edge review Unimpressed. Way Overpriced. Dry food. Mediocre service. 12/24/25. Decor: Made reservations a few weeks in advance, and was seated upstairs in no man's land. Bare walls, dirty carpet, ill fitting table clothes that hang down 8"onto the so you trip on them, zero ambience. It felt like a dining hall at a nursing home. Service: Took 12 minutes before server took drink order. Staff were unaccustomed to it being busy. They dropped wrong entree's at the wrong tables, didn't bring water, or bread until AFTER appetizers finally came. I asked for lemon, and the young unfriendly busser (couldn't tell if they were a boy or girl) forgot, so I asked again and they put the lemon on opposite side of table! I couldn't even reach it. Main server was very nice. She does a lot for the restaurant. There was also a young man in his 30's who was very attentive. I told him he should manage the restaurant- he'd do a better job. Other customers were also disappointed and dissatisfied due to no salt n pepper on their table, no candle, and no utensils when food was delivered. I actually heard the elderly man say, "Am I supposed to eat this with my hands?!" I literally went and found utensils for them myself! Food: NOT compelling at all. The bread and butter was best part of meal. Duck confit was super dry and boney. Osso Bucco was dry, hardly any sauce and tiny dollop of potatoes. And was like $35. This place is completely overrated. I would go there for the river view, (downstairs) appetizers and cocktails only. There's so many great restaurants in S. Oregon- no point in ever going to Rivers Edge again. read more

River's Edge Restaurant "Three times is NOT a Charm" Don't know if it's the Server or the establishment but the SERVICE is EXTREMELY SLOW! I have been here Three times in the past few months. Once in May and Twice in July. My husband and I have frequented this restaurant many times when we are in Grants Pass and this time 'together' was absolutely the worst, as far as, WAIT SERVICE! The wine was warm Ugh We ordered the wasabi tenderloin appetizer. We were sitting there for one hour and had not received the appetizer! So we got up & left! (After paying for the wine & beer of course). Not sure if this restaurant is under New management or ownership, but You should figure it out. There were only THREE tables on the deck where we were sitting; one table already had their food and only one table inside of the restaurant! It's unfortunate that this restaurant with the beautiful view of the River Has gone downhill where you can't even enjoy or order a meal a have it served in timely fashion..... an hour for an Appetizer is ridiculous! read more
