Food and service was excellent . Every time we have dinner there met with the same great service

Gogi's is an epicurean experience with Chef Gabriel's creations. Stella greeted us - so cute and friendly. Matt, our waiter, was friendly, helpful with ordering, and has an incredible knowledge of the wine and food served at Gogi's. Our meal began with Amuse Bouche: an amazing whipped sun dried tomato with slight lemon zest topping a puff pastry(*****). Our main meal was encrusted halibut over mashed butter beans with asparagus & pea shoots(all three members of our party had this wonderful meal), and crusted albacore tuna with lemon rice, tomato coulis & pea shoots (this was absolutely the best tuna I have ever had - perfection). For dessert we shared espresso chocolate flourless torte, lemon berry flourless torte, and vanilla bean crème brûlée - all were excellent. The surprise finish to our meal was yummy mini macaroons. Food was good I wouldn't say a 5 Star menu but it was good. Service was good but not a 5 Star service. Ambiance was nice but not a 5 Star. Would I recommend sure if you want a somewhat upscale restaurant. There was not a WOW! moment or anything to where I would say "we gotta go again" read more

Great service, food was delicious, place was supper clean and inviting... more of a boutique style atmosphere.. the only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of price our bill for 2 was just over $160... yes we had an appetizer, and each a drink... I think I would come more often if the prices were better... but that's just my opinion... we most likely will return just not as frequently... read more

Made a reservation for our anniversary. The waiter was a jerk. He was no help with our questions. When a party of drunk people came in and were so loud that we couldn't even talk, I complained. The waiter said the drunks were regulars, and refused to ask them to quiet down. We took our food to go, and left disgusted. read more

This is a gem. The service is great and the food is delicious. The appetizers and bread were yummy. I got the dry aged ribeye. The beef tenderloins and salmon were excellent as well. The potatoes look great, but I didn't eat them. Red light alert! I love their salad. The desserts look great. I substituted ice cream for fresh berries, and the lemon tart was so good. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. For Thinsulin fans, there's plenty of green light options. read more

I made reservation in advance a month in advance for our anniversary. few days later got confirmation form a phone call confirming the reservation. Was all good to go, a week later I get another phone call telling me that they canceled the reservation because the cook decided to take a random vacation. Now I am all for vacation, but have it posted way in advance or have a backup cook. Very Unprofessional to do that. I booked places to stay there and they close. What a joke, Ill never book a dinner reservation trough them again. read more

Zero quality control on their food quality. Hair in my soup. Main course, bolognese pasta, had so much salt it was inedible. I had to send it back. Very high prices, extremely loud ambiance and horrible quality. Don't go here and save your taste buds and money. read more

Anniversary dinner done right. Beautiful evening with good service (a tiny tad slow). We shared a warm beet salad with goat cheese, walnuts and balsamic. It was very good! It was served with sourdough bread with an excellent basil dipping vinaigrette. That was super delicious. My main was their special with a rolled pork loin with pork belly around it, served over corn and more pork belly. Oh my oh my oh my... the BEST piece of meat I ever had at a restaurant for sure! So flavorful so tender. Way too big of a piece so I had to take half of it home. My husband had the filet with rosemary rubbing which was good but not in the same ballpark as my pork. Overall, delicious food, good service. Pretty pricy at over $40 a main and $16 for a salad, but heck... it was a piece of heaven in my mouth! Definitely make reservations!! read more

This place has great food. And excellent cocktails. But here's the problem - it is a very loud room. And consequently, the patrons are all talking loud to hear each other. And the waitstaff is barking to be heard. And if the place is busy, which it usually is because the food is so good, THE VOLUME IN THE ROOM IS UNBEARABLY LOUD! We had reservations and were looking forward to a wonderful meal but left after cocktails and cacophony. If you don't mind screaming at each other across the table, by all means, patronize this restaurant; however, if eating an expensive meal inside a crowded subway station at rush hour is not your style..... go elsewhere. This is a problem easily fixed. Lay down some carpet, put up some wall hangings, put some fabric on the ceiling. It's not hip, it's just loud. read more

Hands down absolutely the best all around (staff/service, environment and food). Friendly staff and prompt service. Fun, pleasant, enjoyable atmosphere. Food exceeded expectations. The bread was crispy on the outside and and fluffy in the center. It came with a fresh green pesto like dipping sauce that had a delicious unique flavor. I had a special that evening the Hanger steak with grilled brussel sprouts, caramelized onions and fresh greens. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered a Rib eye steak which too was perfect. I didn't think I had room for dessert but we thought we try the flourless chocolate tort. WOW, It was REALLY good! read more

What a great evening. I'm not a foodie, a Ritz Carlton ex-chef or secret shopper..just a guy out with his wife and good friends. The food was just plain great! Sad to only give them two stars....I've really liked the food here on multiple visits over 5+ years, but.... The service over last six months has been abysmal. I like this place and would love to support them, but...I can't. I'm wondering if post-covid staff availability/selection has something to do with it. Last visit was the final straw---ignored, and really seemed like they were more interested in fishing for a tip than in making sure they gave good service or insuring that patrons enjoyed the meal. I usually leave 20-25% tip when I get even moderately good service--I value a good waitstaff and hostess. But...unless I hear through the grapevine that they've turned things around, I won't be going back. I can get a great meal elsewhere and not be treated like my patronage was an inconvenient afterthought. read more

Tourist Trap! Frozen peas with a $70 steak??? After looking at the menu online, we came here expecting a fine dining experience. It was anything but. It was a moderately busy Friday night, but no one seemed rushed. Gogi's has a nice bar, but no bartender, so wait staff have to make their own drinks. It was 40 minutes from the time we sat down until drinks came, much too long. We discussed leaving. The berry cocktail was great, lots of berry flavor and well balanced. But the peach one was bland and watery. Started with the sauteed broccolini. Tough and bitter, not even al dente. The tomato reduction with hazelnuts was pretty good. The "compressed" watermelon salad was confusing. It was mostly spring mix from a bag with fresh watermelon chunks and cucumber strips (what does compressed mean?). Not a very imaginitive menu for such a pricey place, mostly large cuts of protein, some with a sauce. So I ordered the ribeye with peas and duck fat potatoes for $70. The ribeye was full of gristle and globs of fat, obviously the end cut close to the chuck, not a good quality piece of meat. On top was a dollop of BOTTLED barbecue sauce (gel-like texture, full of modified food starch). The "duck fat" potatoes were mashed - not prepared in a way that highlights the used of duck fat - and weren't even creamy or flavorful. But the kicker - the peas are frozen from a bag! Frozen peas on a $70 entree! The manager said they couldn't get fresh from the supplier, yet we're at the height of pea season right now. A decent chef would sustitute something fresh and change the menu. My friend ordered balsamic strawberry ice cream for dessert. It looked like a bunch of half scoops dug out of the bottom of the tub in a cereal bowl. No garnish. No presentation. Ugly. This restaurant is very pricey. The owners spared no expense in creating a website that suggests a special experience. There were six of us; I'm a former Ritz-Carlton chef, and my friends are experienced foodies. I came away feeling ripped off. The others were unimpressed with their meals. It's clear the owners are unwilling to hire a chef or a bartender, and the service and food are substandard. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at such astronomical prices for less than mediocre food, the manager said "The owners set the prices". Jacksonville has a tourist economy. It's clear that the owners are interested only in fleecing tourists out of their vacation money, and don't care in repeat business. STAY AWAY! read more

We received a gift certificate for Christmas for Gogi's and went to have dinner. It was not a good experience. Most every entree on menu was in the mid $40 range, so you would expect something special in the way of service and food. Not so here. I had a pasta dish special that was pasta, lots and lots and lots of cheese and a little broccoli. There was so much cheese I only ate about half. No salad or anything else with it for $32. My cocktail was pretty good, but $14! Service was inattentive. Waitress was pleasant and I think she tried but too many tables to handle. I noticed the wait staff also made the drinks. We have eaten at Gogi's three or four times, as they used to be very good. But we are not likely to return any time soon. Not only are they now very expensive (plan on most entrees being in the $40 range), but our last time there the halibut, which was otherwise cooked to perfection, was served tepid, at best. And the pork chop was so over cooked as to be inedible. At my suggestion for an adjustment to the bill the waitress did take that item off, but then said "Next time be sure to tell me at what temperature you want it cooked." My response was "Next time, if there is one, please ask." I assume a fine restaurant would know the ideal temperature for pork or would ask how the patron wants it cooked if there is variability. The warm beet appetizer was wonderful, as always. If we do go back maybe we'll just make a meal of those. read more

The Gogi's before COVID is no more. What was considered a 4+star restaurant is not even close. Maybe 2+star. The staff is full of excuses because we expressed our displeasure. COVID, OF COURSE. If you're considering Gogi's, call in advance to see what's on the menu--do not go to Yelp. The menu is limited and high priced for what you get. For example, a pork chop with polenta and brussels sprouts was $45, a butter lettuce dinner salad $14! We've lived in downtown Jacksonville for 20 years and have dined at Gogi's many times. Needless to say, we were EXTREMELY disappointed in the menu, the quality of the food, however the service was good. read more

My husband and I ate here for an anniversary date, and it was beyond expectation. The service was wonderful and the food was the most perfectly cooked meal we've had in the Rogue Valley. We had the charcuterie plate, pork chop, and the duck. Everything was delicious and I can't emphasize enough the technical skill. Perfectly cooked. Went here for our anniversary. It was just ok but we are in Southern Oregon where restaurants aren't the selling point. I got the Dry Aged Ribeye and it was disappointing to say the least. I expect a dry aged ribeye to almost fall apart. This was not dry aged, maybe slightly aged in a cooler while waiting processing, not dry aged. It took sawing at it to get a bite to eat. For $69 I felt ripped off. We have local beef that hasn't been dry aged in our freezer at home. Cooked with just salt and pepper is a much better experience than this was. If I can cook it better at home it isn't worth $20 a plate let alone $69. Everything else was just ok. We also got the charcuterie platter and when I asked the waiter what the cheeses were he said "I don't know". Not exactly the answer I thought I'd get and he never brought back an answer. We seriously need a high end restaurant in Southern Oregon that can consistently deliver. I haven't found one yet. read more

I've always liked Gogi's, but their new head chef brings a whole new life to the menu. There are much better vegetarian and pescatarian options now, with clever pan asian riffs on the American Bistro theme. And, oh man, the bread. So good. If you haven't been in a while, it's worth a special trip out. As a side note, I really appreciate the reasonable wine prices. I wish more restaurants would follow suit! read more

This place is an absolute gem. I usually try to have dinner here every time I am in Ashland to see the plays. It is a block off main street in the quaint, historic town of Jacksonville, about a 20 minute drive from Ashland. I've been going there for five years and always feel like the waiters (who haven't changed) could be the owners. It is an intimate restaurant with only 10 or so tables. The food and wine list are a delight. My favorite dinner entree is the rack of lamb and their house salad. I should note that when I've been there the clientele tends to be on the older side, so it definitely isn't the alternative hipster hang out. There are plenty of those in Ashland, if that's what you are looking for. Gogi is a great spot for a nicer dining experience. read more

I happened to stumble across this place one day while walking through Jacksonville. From far it looks like a residence, but little did I know this would be one of the best restaurants that the whole Rogue Valley would have to offer. I came here with a party of 5 on a Friday evening and was seated promptly. It's a very clean establishment and you can tell that they try to keep everything looking top notch. We ordered the beet salad and baguette bread with cheeses as appetizers. "WOW" was the first word to come out of my mouth after the first bite of beet salad. It tasted so fresh as if they had just pulled it out of the garden that same day! The baguette was amazingly crisp and at the perfect temperature along with the cheese which was mouth watering great! As for the main course, we ordered salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and we nearly passed out. We couldn't have asked for a better meal. This meal was definitely one of the best I had anywhere in the U.S. as everything tasted straight from the garden fresh! Definitely worth the money. If you are anywhere in the Rogue Valley, you need to come to Gogis Restaurant to experience the best of what Southern Oregon has to offer! read more
