Chef Salad $13.99 (with Ranch on the side) - it's HUGE!
Madison M.

Good Value, Fast Service, not at all touristy, solid all american food, always fresh ingredients, never greasy. They want breakfast, I want a big azz salad with all the fixin's. We regularly come here so we all get exactly what we want. This should be THE PLACE to go for your salad cravings! The Chef Salad for $13.99 is large (think big bear diner) and the crispy romaine lettuce was absolutely jam packed with so many toppings that it is a full meal. I'm sure you could make special requests and substitutions, but I like it just as their standard chef salad. Comes topped with a very generous helping of Turkey, Ham, 2 kinds of shredded cheese, cucumbers, mushrooms, olives, chopped tomatoes, and a hard boiled egg. For $13.99 I think that are breaking even. Next time I'll give their mediterranean spinach salad with grilled chicken a try. The people in the booth next to us ordered it and it looked Delicious. Excellent Value. I think they are known for their all american breakfast menu. The Oak Tree Classic is the standard 2 eggs, toast or biscuits, choice meat, hashbrowns for $12.99. We subsituted the toast for a single big azz pancake (+$1) and substituted the hashbrowns for fresh fruit (+$1). So the big azz breakfast "the classic" came to $1499 and it was very filling for a hungry guy with a breakfast craving. Local Restraurant, Good Portions, Reasonable Prices, Fast friendly service, Awesome Salads, Solid breakfast food.

Retro style restaurant with a sophisticated menu. Warm and friendly atmosphere. The chicken fried steak was perfect.

I actually decided too eat here and do a review because the rating didn't seem consistent with what I remembered from my one previous visit. First off: this is solid American standard food. It's just off the highway, attached to a hotel, and uses the basic "US Foods" supply. This is NOT my usual choice of place to eat. If you're after the "sustainable/local" type of place, this isn't it. This is where old guys meet for morning coffee and chat. The previous poor reviews were basically focused on the cooking and service, so let's start there: I ordered the corned beef hash. It was interestingly done, with a fair amount of fine julienned red onions. Unexpected.....but very mild, and it added a lot. If I'd slathered it wIth the hollandaise that I'd considered, it would have been quite exceptional. (But hollandaise DOES that!). The side biscuit was a surprise.......it was the rare sort that manages to combine chewy and soft. Not your average crumbly "homemade" style at all. I'm a bit sad I got all churchy and upgraded to the hash, as the biscuit and gravy is likely worth it! Now, the service: my expectations are pretty simple.....I don't need overattentive.......just be pleasant, keep my water and coffee full, and get my order right. After the previous reviews, I was expecting something kinda horrid..... Far from it. The two efficIent ladies who tended the place were FLYING around. I was trying to challenge them a bit......because the coffee was actually pretty strong and tasty......but, try as I might, I couldn't outpace them. So: if you're in the market for some very decent "American Diner" kinda food, with some novel presentation, and excellent service, this should top your list! I'm going for full stars, not because it's exceptional fare........it's not fair to say that about diner food, IMHO......but it's solidly five stars for quality of service and novel presentation/execution.

We had a great meal at The Noble Fox! Parking isn't super easy nearby, so if you are already parked…read morein a lot or structure, stay there and walk. It's just off Main Street. We went in at dinner time on a Thursday. We were seated right away without a reservation, but you can make one online. I could see them being busy on a weekend or a busier part of the season. There are tables for groups from 2-6. They also had some pinball and other games in the back (as well as some board games in a side room). We didn't find out the ins and outs of the games, but it makes it feel like a place you are welcome to stay at for a while. They had a great kids menu. Our girls both wanted pizza and the observant server recommended they share a pizza because they are not small. It was accurate and kept us from having a whole leftover pizza, even though the prices were reasonable and it would have been a good value. The two adults shared the spicy cauliflower from the appetizer menu and the quesacarnitas tacos. Both were seasoned well, very flavorful, and all around delicious. The cauliflower wasn't super spicy, but it was super tasty so we weren't mad. The place is a brewery but we had cocktails. My husband said it was the best margarita he had on our trip and tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. My Paloma was also good! Overall, we were super pleased with our visit. Gluten free items are marked clearly and there is also a gluten free bun and pizza crust to choose from. Highly recommend before or after a play or a day of shopping in the Main Street area of Ashland.

So I have to open this up with a reason to why I had to come here on my wife's and I road trip. She…read morereads a lot and she sometimes gets the audio books and says "YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS" So the legends of thezmarr by helen scheuerer is a fun story I got hooked on and my wife loved that we can talk about it so it makes it that much more fun. There is a tavern called "the laughing fox" so I told My wife we need to go here or Kip would be anger (Kip being the character that loves going to that tavern) she did not get it at first but when I did the hint hint wink wink she understood me. Needless to say ... The Noble Fox not only filled the fun of the book they also came through with how Delicious and amazing of a place it is. I was sad they did not sell their cups with the Fox on them or hats... I would have been all over it... lol Now the review The Noble Fox is an amazing resource that matches the vibes and of the clever and tempting Fox. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They allow dogs on the patio and the views and comfortable nature is amazing. We were hosted by Aarron and he was amazing, made sure we had what we needed and was considerate to every question. He was great for suggestions and overall hosting is such an important characteristic so we appreciate you . The food... I'll be honest we planned on just having. A drink and some fries... but the menu was just too intriguing especially to a couple that loves to cook. Soooo my wife got the harvest salad and I got the fish and chips. The fries were amazing... they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. We could not stop eating them. The harvest salad my wife enjoyed, we enjoy good salads and the berry and chopped seemed like something we have had before so the Harv had some unique takes with the dressing and fresh toppings. She enjoyed it but said it would be more amazing paired with salmon. Which is unfortunate because she was just recently deemed allergic to it. The fish and chips... just get it.. don't question it just get it... most fish and chips just focus on the lemon, salt or tartar to give the fish flavor... nope... the noble Fox understands the fish and batter need to be pre seasoned then seasoned after . The batter needs seasoning and I just need to say that fish was not going to survive my plate. If there was a second one I don't think it would survive the place. Arron also read my mind. Their tartar sauce was delicious...but he opted for malt vinegar and that was the end of it all. Overall the Noble Fox will be a destination stop for us every time we come down this way. It's an amazing little spot and there is a lot on the menus that brings fun and unique flavors in. They have great service , an arcade room , a private game table room and a welcoming environment. Also if you read the books ... you have to go ... what would Kip do?

We're meeting the family in Ashland for hubby's Diamond Year. We're the first to arrive, so we went…read moreout for a walk, in search of food. We looked at the menu, it said something about a 'creek'. We're sold! As we entered the restaurant, we were asked: "Would you prefer seats by the creek or inside. It was too dark inside to read the menu, and anything to do with water, I'm there. I found the perfect table, where it's closest to the creek waves, but we were soon have to move, because the restaurant shares the outside tables with the restaurant next door. I was sort-of disappointed. The waiter, and the excellent BBQ Ribs & Kettle Chips took that away! Hubby's Recession Burger and Classic Fries were also just as good. He also ordered a side of black bean chili. Service was exceedingly friendly. Waiter was very informative about the direction, how to get to the other side of the creek, it was a perfect hike for us, on that beautiful afternoon. UPDATE: Our dinner was so good last night, we ended back to the other side of the creek, to Louie's for lunch! Our waiter recognized us. We sat closer to the wall, almost the same table as we sat last night, too, with a different waitress, who is just as pleasant and friendly as our waiter. This time hubby ordered a BLT (smoky bacon piled HIGH, and I mean piled HIGH) and Kettle Chips, while I settled for Spring rolls. The spring rolls were not large, they're like half of a normal size. His BLT came on a multi grain bread and just the right amount of mayo. We both agreed, it was the BEST BLT sandwich in the world! (We've traveled the world, we know!) But to top things off they gave him a complimentary, a chocolate lava cake as it was hubby's birthday. Thank you!

My friend and I were treated very badly at this restaurant. I am very forthright about what I need,…read morebeing a diabetic and asked for a skinny margarita. When it came it was too sweet and I tried to tell the waiter that and he threw an absolute fit and asked us to leave, saying I was being rude. We were shocked. Neither my friend nor I thought I was being rude. I didn't say or do anything offensive. When I asked how I was being rude, the waiter's response was, "do you hear yourself?" I even apologized and said if I had offended somehow, I was sorry. My friend said she didn't think I was being rude. As we rose to leave, I told the waiter maybe he was too sensitive and that was the problem. He kept yelling at me to look at myself in the mirror. The cook had our food ready and was about to give it to us and I said we were leaving because the waiter was kicking us out, and the cook's response was "good." He hadn't even been there. The waiter obviously had a huge insecurity chip on his shoulder to be so rude to a paying customer for some imagined slight. But then I messaged the owner and she gave me some BS about "heartfelt" apologies. I asked if we could come have the meal that we were denied and her response was "All things considered, I think it best you explore another Ashland dining experience." Then I saw all the one star reviews on Yelp and her exact same "heartfelt" response to all of them while absolutely nothing changed, and I realized the problem is the owner. She doesn't care about customer experience. The staff act the way they do because she allows it. Any other restaurant would have offered dessert or appetizers or something to make up for the bad experience, which is what good restaurants do. I am 63 and have eaten at restaurants all over the world, and never been treated like this. But obviously other restaurants have higher standards for their staff and themselves. There are too many restaurants where people are courteous and accommodating, especially to customers with health issues, to put up with the low standards at this place. We went next door to Green Leaf and were able to ask for modifications in the menu and treated with the utmost care. And to the owner, please don't bother with your standard response of communicating our concerns to your staff, etc., etc. We are perfectly aware of what that's worth.
