We were supposed to meet a friend here for a nice Friday brunch at 1pm today. We rolled-in the parking lot at 12:55pm, and Deanos was closed. I then got out of the vehicle and walked around the establishment to investigate it a bit and look around. Maybe I'd find a sign or something. Clean windows, and from what I could see through the windows the place was neat as a pin and definitely equipped to deliver. The streetside flags they use were rolled-up on the floor inside, a few plastic storage bins on the floor, fully-set tables with coffee cups and flatware (doesn't doesn't look like they went out of business); but nobody inside, and there were no hours of operation posted on the door (that had been pictured by other patrons), nor any hours of operation signage in any of the windows today, and I looked at them all. As I understand it, they are/were open until 3pm. No reason posted as to why they were closed (maybe family emergency or something- things happen) anyways, we drove from the Jerome Prairie area specifically to check out this eatery. We won't do that again, as we found an alternative much closer to us that really excells. C'est la vie. read more

Food was great. Home fries are the best in town. Service was great also. Friendly fast and professional. Love the wall decorations which makes you feel like you are transported back to the 50's. The food here is really good - better than BB Diner! The bread is wonderful - fluffy, moist, tender yummy. All the food that I've eaten here is hot when it comes to your table. Small indoor dining area but it has very cool nostalgic feel. The lady that serves the food (owner?) is just too sweet. As busy as she gets she still takes time to make you feel welcome. She kept my coffee topped off and met all of our expectations of what a good server should be... with a smile. My first time there I asked about the breakfast special. She suggested the pork fried steak and eggs. It was a total home run for me. Better than the chicken fried steak at other restaurants in town. The eggs were done perfect. The biscuit was as big as a small mountain. Soft and flakey. You can tell they're made in house fresh. And the jam they serve it with is also obviously home made and way over the top delicious. Can we talk about the size of the pork steak? This thing is massive. Perfectly hand breaded. Fried to perfection. Takes up half the plate or more. Hash browns were also excellent as was the gravy on the steak. You will not leave this place hungry. I guarantee. My breakfast was so good I've been back 2 additional times and always just top notch. That's both food and service. If you've driven by and seen it but didn't stop in you've passed up the best spot in town for a great "trucker style" breakfast. My buddy loves the tri tip (roast beef?) and cheese melt sandwich. He also returned just for that one item. Quality meal for a hell of a great price. With a friend meeting us at Deanos, we arrived Friday a little before 1PM. They are supposed to be opened until 3PM. Very disappointing to find the place was closed. I have driven past this little place a hundred times. Finally stopped in. Not disappointed! They close at 2pm, I walked in about 5 minutes to & received a cheerful greeting, told the grill was still open & to have a seat. I was not made to feel like I should place my order for take out so they could close. I was glad to dine in just to have time to admire the decor! So nostalgic & fun! I ordered the special of the day & it was superb. They bake their own sourdough & it was delightfully grilled for my chicken Swiss Ortega sandwich. Tasty! I chose the potato salad as my side & it was really good. Not too mustard-y, not overloaded with celery. Not too dry. Very nice flavor & texture. Rude and unprofessional. Gets online to the local southern oregon food sites and argues with costumers over the flaky business. They list hours on their page they DONT follow. Hardly ever are they open and when questioned they are down right unprofessional and rude. I try to support local but I won't support ugly people with zero kindness over their own mistakes. I give it low low marks simply for never keeping their stated hours. I've been by there a dozen times during store hours only to find them closed, despite the owner saying he is always there during open hours.... When I was, by some miracle to drive by and see them open, I stopped in was quite disappointed in the food, the quality and service. We have passed this little place many times and finally had the timing right for lunch. Friendly service with multiple asks if we had everything. Simple lunch of cheeseburger and coleslaw but it was very tasty. Coleslaw was homemade and had a nice mild sweet taste. I was right on the secret ingredient when I asked about it. We used to love this place... they were so busy we had to sit outside. As we were waiting we had a birdseye view of the kitchen. I saw the waitress clean off one the tables and take 3 half full cups of water off the table, bring them back to her station and pour them back into her pitcher to be reused. We drove 5 miles out of our way to go eat breakfast here, but it seems like they changed it to a BBQ place. Also, it was closed.

Well, my husband and I stopped in here this morning and to say we are disappointed is probably the best review. We ordered straight from the menu and my meal was wrong not once, but twice. Eggs were underdone, bacon seems like it was pre cooked, pancakes were mediocre and tough. Place need a good cleaning and I realized halfway through our meal that they are feeding a cat in the restaurant because there are feeding dishes near one of the tables. Update: so I love this place again. The secret so you don't drive out there and get yourself spittin mad is to call them first. If they are there someone eventually picks up. If they aren't it rings for all eternity. Old review: I thought this would be my new favorite breakfast place. This is a hidden gem! Seats only 27 but they move you through quickly. Bacon cheddar omelette, hash browns and a biscuit - took half home for the next day - DH had Southwest Eggs Benedict with country potatoes. Biscuit was fluffy and so was the butter that came with it. The locals were all buying loaves of the sourdough they bake there. Breakfast and lunch only. Good thing we live 2 days away or I would quickly be the size of a house!!! read more

It is a small, homey place, (only about 20 seats total) but the prices are really fair & affordable. Deano's is exactly what you'd expect from a small town diner. This review might seem glowing to some, but I really do love Deano's! My hubby and I really like burgers and fries and every weekend we try to go in to town specifically to get burgers (and do any shopping that needs to be done!). Deano's can be a hit or miss on the open times, but the food quality makes it worth the suffering. We always get cheeseburgers with fries and sometimes some sodas, have yet to try the breakfast as I am not really a breakfast person. The building is small and cozy, with the walls covered in nostalgia decorations. It's fun to browse over the items and point out which ones you recognized being in your grandmother's utensil drawer when you were younger or how cute the Big Boy was in his little coveralls. The atmosphere, even when empty, is not dark or foreboding but instead very homey and quaint. The waitress (the only one I have met) is very friendly and helpful. She keeps up on all her tables and if she gets flustered she hides it very well. She always gets a nice tip from us because I understand how hectic the service industry can be. Cook, whom I have never had the pleasure of meeting, sure knows how to make a darn fine burger. Nothing fancy, just a straight up good burger like you would expect at a family picnic or "old school" joint style (well made, nothing weird/modern). He doesn't skimp on the condiments, I have always gotten two hefty slices of tomato and juicy pickles and he has never put onions on by mistake (I don't do onions on my burgers). They are juicy but not greasy, not bigger than your mouth can open and definitely worth the price (which is low and varies because they also do deals on meals). And the fries you get a ton of. We have also been huge fans of the barbecue when it happens, always making a point to try and get in to town while it's going on. I have tried quite a few BBQ places around town, but Deano's Cook seems to know exactly how I like my BBQ victuals! You get a heaping serving for not very much and it's all delicious. I would, and do, recommend this place to all my friends, families and acquaintances who happen to mention they are looking for a good place to grab a bite. Along with that, I hope that this place gets more and more popular, but I do hope they remain as quaint as they are today. We will be continued patrons as far as I can see! Oh and their soda is spot on. Not too much carbonation, not watered down, just right!! My hubby always teases me about how judging I am about fountain sodas and burgers from food places but I have yet to complain about Deano's! Also, we do take-out and they have had no issue with this thus far and use sturdy food cartons with lining and insulated cups with straws. read more

This is a quaint little restaurant that's perfect for a nice, quiet meal any time of the day. The service is great. I can not remember the waitress's name, but she does her job to the fullest extent plus more! She is very pleasant and always greets every customer when they enter the restaurant. Not to mention the fact that she is very attentive to each customers needs and she remembers the customers that have been in before. The food is always astounding! My favorite breakfast item is the Garden Omelet. It is such a great combination of flavors that fit so perfectly together! The sourdough bread is made right there in the restaurant which makes so much more mouth watering considering it is so fresh and full of flavor. All the food here is always so fresh! Ya know I waited like a year to eat here (it's like never open).. Maybe it wouldn't of been bad had I not had to wait almost an hr to get a burger. After it was already ordered. (1.5 hrs total to order get food and leave) Now I have heard nothing but good things about the place. Finally got the food and it was decent. Burger was ok. Chicken fried steak was decent. I've always been a huge fan of diner style burgers my whole life. From the thin beef patties, the melted American cheese with the chopped lettuce, thin sliced tomatoes, onions and pickles on a soft toasted bun, to the perfectly cooked fries and homemade shakes. Deanos does it right! Great customer service, and friendly environment. They made the best damn double bacon cheeseburger I've had in awhile.
