We came here for a pre-show dinner. The different breads were probably my favorite part--not just Italian, but different sweet breads too. I felt that the waiters were trained to be a little pretentious--frequently saying "pardon my reach." Otherwise, good food, and they got us to our show on time. read more

Been here for drinks, brunch and dinner. Excellent all around. Confused in a city dearth of brunch of options why this place isn't packed for brunch given price, quality, service and decor? Definitely going back. read more

I have to update my review because I have been to Eleven a few more times after dinner and dessert. We went for brunch about a year ago and the food was just okay. I didn't find that anything was that special. Then this past week we went again for lunch and it wasn't up to my 5 star. I think that moving forward, I will just be going for dinner. read more

Wonderful! We were there with a group of six to celebrate an anniversary. All the food was outstanding and well-cooked. My group had the seafood tasting, tenderloin, and salmon. Everyone had very positive things to say about their meals. Delicious! We also tried the candy bar and banana cream pie for dessert -- both were amazing! I always appreciate a restaurant that has a good chocolate dessert, and the candy bar was right up my alley! The chef even prepared a small white chocolate "happy anniversary" sign for our group. Staff was courteous and our food came out quickly. Wonderful wonderful wonderful! read more

My boyfriend and I, with our parents, visited Eleven for a celebration dinner. The service, food, and atmosphere were truly as good as it gets. My mom of course wanted to switch tables to outside on the patio, which the staff accommodated quickly and effortlessly. The patio was lovely and they even had heaters on. Our waitress was in training, however she was phenomenal and told jokes and became a fun part of the evening. We ordered tuna tartare, plum soup, and crab cakes which were all delicious appetizers. I split the halibut and swordfish which were very tasty. Everyone had clear plates at the end of the meal. I brought a Prantl's cake, which they brought out to show the table and then had sliced in the kitchen. Overall, it was such a delightful and fun evening, which all the staff at Eleven made possible. My parents are quite picky diners and they absolutely loved the restaurant. read more

It's been a long time since we visited this restaurant. It was my wife's birthday and I had a birthday coupon for a Big Burrito Group restaurant. Friends were there recently and they recommended it to us. So my son, wife and I went for her special day. We were ushered to the balcony and were seated at a inviting and cozy table. The wait staff was quite friendly and server was knowledgeable. The wine and drink list was quite adequate but a little pricy. The menu had something for everyone. My son had linguine with crab that he rated excellent. My wife ordered swordfish which my wife shared with me. (She's a small eater). I had soup a purée which was really good. Also I had a Salad with root vegetables and shaved pecorino that was quite tasty Dessert was creme brûlée that the three of us split and some chocolates that came with the tab. Totally enjoyable experience and we will definitely return soon. read more

We had brunch here and it was absolutely amazing. The service is friendly and professional. The basket of baked goods you get with brunch was delicious. Our table had the pre-fix appetizer and entrees...everything was great but the smoked salmon and pasta were the stand out dishes. I can't wait to go back! read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. the ambiance was quiet and intimate, although I had a late reservation and the restaurant was winding down for the night so that could have something to do with it. Very nice wine list, and delicious food to boot. Great date night restaurant. read more

I loved the prefix brunch here. Great food, drinks and atmosphere, even the complementary baked goods basket was really good. We had oyster, smoked salmon as appetizer and steak and egg, lamb as entrees. All of them tasted really good. read more

This is the kind of place you can bring a foodie for dinner. The service was excellent, although I would have preferred to have someone on hand who could better help with a wine selection. Everything we ordered was excellent. We started with PEI oysters, which were clean and served with a spicy habanero sauce (spicy by midwest standards, at least). We ordered the seafood medley and an AK halibut, both of which were quite good. The only knock is the cleaning of the scallop, which wasn't as we would have expected. The blueberry pie dessert was reasonably sized and quite flavorful. I would definitely bring friends, colleagues, or a date here again. read more

Great atmosphere, superb drinks and menu. Only been here for brunch but found it to be excellent.

Had a really nice meal here on a recent visit to Pittsburgh. The swordfish entree was very different but very good. The restaurant is very cool in its architecture and its staff is tip-top. The only problem is the bar which is very loud if you are sitting right above it. I would recommend telling them when you make a reservation that you prefer to be away from the bar. read more

Fantastic meal at Eleven last week. The best I've had there of many. This one was 5-star though some have been 4-star. Only complaint was that the white wine was served almost room temp, but this was corrected quickly with an ice bucket. read more

Food and service was outstanding. Very flavorful and presentation was exceptional. Unfortunately the front end folks had an attitude because of our appearance (dress). If you can get pass that every thing else is worth the trip. Thumbs up to the food and service. Thumbs down to the arrogant stiffs up front. read more

Fabulous food, great atmosphere, and incredible service - Eleven has it all. It's one of my favorite romantic date spots because of the intimate atmosphere. Plus, their tasting menu is out of this world. If you are looking for a reservation on Valentine's Day (which I highly recommend) definitely book this place as early as possible! It fills up fast! read more

Husband and I had the chefs tasting menu and it's the only way to go! Walleye and lamb were featured and the lamb was the best I've bad, cooked perfectly. The dessert of oatmeal cookies /brown sugar ice cream sandwich was to die for. read more

Enjoyed a family dinner at Eleven last night. It was OK. The service was spotty and the food a mix of plates from good to mediocre. Pretty but taste was missing. Overpriced for what they deliver. They appear to want to be more than they are at this point. read more

I went on a Sunday - A fair amount of people present, but not too crowded. It was a nice open atmosphere, but pretty quiet, which allowed for easy conversation. The service was good, and the food was excellent. I had the pork shank, which tasted very good by itself, but combined with the risotto that came with it - it was excellent. She had the salmon over cauliflower, which she liked very much as well. This was an excellent first date choice. read more

Seriously awesome. The bar is great, the service is so personable. And the food was incredible. We had the Pittsburgh rare meat and the crab cake and they were so delicious! The atmosphere is perfect too, with great tables kind of separated and really cozy booths. Great lighting. I highly recommend. read more

The staff and our waiter were polite and knowledgeable of their menu items. The food was wonderful, fresh, and really hit the taste buds. We shared two appetizers and split the main event. Both very good, portion size versa price, I am leaning to portion a little low and price a bit high. All in all a good time. read more

In town for business and ate here overall very good had the beet salad and the salmon also liked the Eleven drink. The peanut butter pretzel desert is very good overall would eat there again friendly wait staff. I ate at the bar which has very low lighting making hard to see read more

5 stars for the best happy hour around. It starts at 4 -- so you can have a last "meeting" before the work day ends. Even better: selection of cocktails, including martinis, with your choice of any top shelf liquor. For $6! read more

Had an amzing dinner at Eleven a few weeks ago. Service was impeccable. Ordered the Procuitto Wrapped Pear to start. A bottle of white wine with dinner. Scottish Salmon for me and the Seafood Tasting for my hubby. Everything was spot on. We look forward to our next experience with Eleven. read more

My friend and I have decided to make Pittsburgh a "moms" trip every year, and this past weekend was our second visit. One of the big things we look forward to are really great meals (without the kids, etc.). A few people from home recommended Eleven so we decided to make reservations. For a few days out, there weren't many options for times, but I take that as a good sign. Our reservations were for 9pm on Saturday and we were seated right away, at a large booth, which was nice. Our waitress was very nice at first and very helpful in regards to the wine menu. She went over many of the different options and really pushed a few of the middle of the road bottles, which wasn't a problem. However, as both my friend and I agree that we'd like to spend the most money on food, over wine, we decided to go with a cheaper bottle of cab and and focus our attention on ordering whatever our little hearts desired from the food menu. Our waitress did not seem pleased when we told her our choice of wine; she genuinely seemed put out. I'm not sure if she makes commission from wine sales or if it was just that we didn't take her suggestions, but she didn't seem happy. Her service was fine for the rest of the meal, but she was not nearly as friendly as when we sat down. Ultimately, our food was wonderful. We both got the beet salad (very good, fresh) and I got the strip, which was cooked perfectly. Great portion sizes and great presentation; I don't think you feel at all that you're paying too much for too little. I'm not sure we will be back, as there are so many great restaurants to try in Pittsburgh, but I'm not at all sad that we went! read more

Was in Pittsburgh for a meeting--had an evening "on our own" and a group of 16 headed to dinner at Eleven. I did make a reservation (but only for 12). We were seated promptly (and they quickly added the additional spots needed) and Tom (our waiter) handled the group with ease. The food was extraordinary--everyone raved about their orders, things came out quickly and at the end, Tom had no problem doing individual checks! It was one of the best group dining experiences I have ever had! Highly recommend Eleven!! read more

Very good food and a very fun atmosphere. The butternut squash soup, oysters, and crab cakes were all extremely delicious. Given it was a busy Saturday night, the service was fairly slow. read more

Excellent, truly. Expensive, absolutely. But it's one of those places that although the check stings, you never feel like you didn't get what you paid for (i.e. that $50 steak will be a giant cut of beautiful aged, grass-fed beef cooked to perfection). So here's the trick - go for brunch. Although you should be warned, this is a wasted Sunday kind of brunch (I am can't seem to avoid eating myself into a coma). It is by far the best value for brunch in the city and a cheap way to get your Eleven fix. If you have the cash, by all means go for dinner. This is our birthday/anniversary spot. read more

Excellent food. The service is typically good, but surprisingly -- not as consistently good as Soba and Casbah, which is curious. Still, it's a favorite. The chef's tasting menu with wine pairings is a treat. The cocktails are excellent and inventive. read more

Stopped by late evening and have to say not disappointed. Planned for tavern menu and had read other reviews for burger.......don't miss this one. Delicious. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband ordered the burger, planning on splitting. The lobster roll was good, won't order again though cause next time I want my own burger and not so sure my husband would give up half again. Did splurge on dessert too - chocolate pretzel peanut butter candy (i think that's what it was called) was worth every calorie. Typically i end up eating more of the dessert than my husband but we were fighting to see who would get the last crumbs! Yes, not our most healthful of evening meals but so worth every taste. Since we sat at the bar, found the bartenders friendly and very attentive without overdoing the service. White Sangria was just right too. All in all, a perfect evening. read more

Went here for my 30th b-day. It was amazing. Server was excellent!! Food and drink were amazing. You have to try the banana cream pie for dessert. Bread served to each table was very fresh! Wasn't to loud in there. Had a great experience!! read more

Excellent meal last night at Eleven. Many of us enjoyed the Chefs special courses with wine pairings. Good attentive service all the way around. We'll be back for sure. read more

We had dinner at Eleven on a trip to Pittsburgh this weekend and the food was good but just not great. The atmosphere and service were both top notch, could not have asked for a better experience as far as that goes. Everybody we encountered during our visit was friendly and professional. My husband had the pork chop and it was cooked nicely and the garlic sausage that came with it was very tasty but the rest of the dish was just average. My tuna was cooked perfectly and the squid ink pasta was very good but the overall flavor profile of the dish was brought down a bit for me by the caviar. I like tuna for it's mild flavor and to pair it with uber fishy tasting caviar just didn't work for me and had me wondering if it was the caviar or the tuna that had that fishy taste. In hind sight, I wish I had asked for that ingredient to be left off the plate. The prime beef tartar was fantastic but the pumpkin soup was okay but left me wishing I had skipped it and gone for the foie gras instead. I really wish I could give 3 1/2 stars because there were some really great aspects to our meal but unfortunately there were a few misses too. We will probably try it again but there are other fine dining establishments in Pittsburgh that we will be trying first. read more

Went here for an anniversary dinner per my husband's recommendation. Had no idea what I was getting myself into. We ordered blind off chef's select menu and while the items sounded eclectic, I was amazed by how delicious the courses tasted! The service was acceptable, nothing exceptional, but I didn't even care. The food rocked and I hope we return again every anniversary. Delish! read more

happy hour (4-6 m-f) is amazing! cocktails for 7 bucks and $7 apps (5-6 appetizers)including super filling and delicious pretzels (would eat these everyday of my life if i could! also, Christian (one of the regular bartenders) is super informative and helpful about yr fav gins! and all the servers are really attentive! read more

Great restaurant; excellent service. Interesting menu. Went for a date night before the Pen's game. Fantastic farm to table choices. The orecchiette with chicken of the woods mushrooms was earthy and delicate at the same time. Service was attentive. As an interesting aside, it smelled AMAZING; like something delicious roasting. Husband had the hangar steak; it was done perfectly. Will definitely be going here again. read more

Have eaten there a handful of times. Service was adequate, Halibut was cold and gelatinous. Disappointing.

I went to Eleven with high hopes, having read good things about it on this site and elsewhere. The food was very good, and the service excellent. Two serious problems lead to a three-star rating instead of something higher: 1) white wine served so cold it had very little flavor and 2) it was VERY noisy. The open kitchen means lots of noise; normal conversation was difficult. If you are looking for a restful evening, a quiet dinner, this is decidedly not the place to go. On the other hand, if you like a busy, party feel, it might be just the thing. They could easily fix the wine service problem, but I don't think they will be trying to make the restaurant more quiet. read more

Went there for dinner with a client and it was a horrible experience. My fish was ruined and her steak was ruined. Wait staff was unattentive and entire experience was so sad. Very embarrassing for me. Plenty of choices in Pittsburgh for upscale dinners so skip this place at all cost. read more
