Outstanding would be an understatement. I'm a Californian who visited a friend in the area and had one of the best breakfast dishes in quite some time. It's hard to come by a place that prides itself not only on the appearance of their food, but also the quality of ingredients they source for their dishes and the amazing flavor each dish had. This is an updated review since the name change to Elements Restaurant. What an improvement for an already excellent restaurant! The blend of ingredients, preparations, accompanying plate elements, and overall presentation have improved in all measurable dimensions. Everyone raved about the wild mushroom and chestnut pate. The pickled kohlrabi had a warm spice acidic punch that amplified the more subtle flavors of the base pate. Further, the onion and orange marmalade brought a welcome sweetness. The pickled caperberries brought a salty crescendo that balanced the sweetness of the marmalade and the ciabatta gave an essential textural foundation for all the other elements to play. Harmony and counterpoint were the hallmarks of the dish. Even for meat loving friends, this dish is not to be missed. The rest of the meal offered similarly intriguing pairings and dramatic plating. Elements is a five-star restaurant in my book. My mother-in-law reserved a table for four of us recently to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday. When we walked in, we were immediately shown to our reserved table, where a cute little birthday card with a corgi on it was waiting for my father-in-law. Such a nice touch. I'd describe the ambiance as cool, eclectic, homey, unpretentious and very welcoming. And the menu? Spectacular. I can't talk it up enough. We started with a round of fun cocktails. My mother-in-law and I ordered the house special, a blood orange cocktail complete with sugar and a dried blood orange slice on the rim. My husband got a classic martini and my father-in-law got a Manhattan. All of us were very happy with our drinks of choice. After that, we all shared a bottle of SoDo Cellars wine, produced in Washington State. Very tasty. For my main, I ordered the sea scallops ($48), which were served on butternut squash risotto, black trumpet mushrooms, spinach, apple ginger sauce vierge and truffled cauliflower puree. Perfection! I don't use that word lightly. Each bite, each ingredient had a different flavor and story to tell. If you take a bite of scallops and risotto, that's one flavor combination. Layer in the plated sauce and it's a new experience. Add in the mushrooms, you get new flavors and textures. One of the ways I judge food is whether I think I can make something similar or comparable at home. I can confidently say that I cannot make this at home! But lucky for me, I don't have to. We ate here last night and the food was amazing. The heirloom salad and bread and butter to start was spot on. I had scallops that were heavenly with the most beautiful presentation. I really wanted to like this place, the prices are very high and I heard mixed reviews (not complaining about price just saying) I'm gonna start with the moment I walked in, it was over. I wanted to walk out. It smelled awful mixed with dirty mop water. It was bad I got up to go to the restroom and the restroom smelled delightful with the scented candle. Service was great, it filled up quickly. With the smell I really didn't want to eat so I ordered the hamachi. I didn't read the description thinking it would be something f normals Ohhhh boy, the plate was beautiful but ohhh dear was it unusual and not for me. Specially the coconut ice cream on the top. The server poured "agua chile" liquid all around, but it has a green dark thick consistency it was just all wrong, FOR ME. We were there for a birthday but my friend didn't want to order food there and we ended up getting a dessert and drinks. The server said the dessert was on them and then brought us another dessert plus the one she wanted and charged us. Super confused. They need to clarify they will offer the dessert they want. Delicious and wonderful staff! We came for our 27th anniversary when our other plan fell through. My husband had an enormous bouquet of roses he was carting around for me and the chef came out and offered to store it in a cool place for us. We ordered the brie and crab fondue to start. It was creamy deliciousness, but if I'm honest, I didn't detect any crab and it was $30. Then we had the beet salad, which was fantastic, flavorful and varied in texture. Highly recommend! Elements is our absolute favorite restaurant in Vancouver! The menu is creative and changes somewhat with the seasons. A few of their dishes stay, with slight variations over time. Their head chef and other staff are truly artists, and everyone is there is always concerned about producing top-quality meals, which are beautiful as well. Their cocktails are good, desserts are always tasty, and the ambiance feels special without being stuffy. Their upstairs seating area is fun, too, especially if you have a small-to medium-sized party and request ahead of time with reservation. Elements restaurant and Chef Sosa are consistently outstanding time and again over the 4 years since 2021 we have had the joy and pleasure of dining there. Our most recent dining experience at Elements last Thursday evening Nov.13, 2025 was fabulous. The food choices and presentation were excellent, and the ambiance and service were super, but the best was Chef Sosa's creative and delicious offerings. His "Mexican cuisine oriented Bouillabaisse was spectacular, blending a perfect balance of flavor and spice against the great seafood components of fish, shrimp, muscles against the ever so slight inclusion of chorizo. The dish's tomato based broth was fantastic and perfect for dipping my bread. Also, the Steelhead salmon offering that our freind ordered was 5-star perfect in doness, flavor and moisture. Desert of choclate mousse and a creme broulet were perfect....Elements is a truly great restaurant with a great chef whose culinary art and skills make for a consistently outstanding dining experience. read more

We had birthday dinner tonight at Elements on Main Street. We have celebrated many occasions at this restaurant and have over the last ten years never have we been disappointed. Tonight as usual was again out of the park delicious. Service has always been terrific including tonight but my meal was superb. I am a respectable cook so when we go out for dinner I truly enjoy a meal that I would have difficulty replicating in my own kitchen. I ordered the cocoa & chile rub beef shoulder tenderloin $40.00 fingerling potatoes, summer squash, goat cheese fondue, onion marmalade, red wine reduction. First, big shout out to MARCO for the outstanding service, and a "high five" to the chef on the Sea Bass, Gnocchi & lemon bére blanc. Started the meal with a Willamette (damn it!) Pinot Noir & the cheese crab fondue. Both were killer (good!) Then went to the main which was also delicious. No dissenting opinions from anyone in the group of 4 foodies - who argued over how to say Willamette (Damn it!). We simply closed the place down over a bottle of wine, and the staff were super accommodating. We skipped dessert as the mains were good sized portions. Again- My Sea Bass was exceptionally well cooked and the gnocchi were pillowy soft with a nice toasting from the broiler. Seasoning was spot on & balanced. I wanted to eat more, but was stuffed! Atmosphere was also good upstairs with local art on display. We mostly talked business, but the full bar also looked inviting and well stocked. Congratulations to all at Elements! Tonight was our very first visit to the intimate and sophisticated Elements Restaurant. We came to celebrate our anniversary and were lucky to have Mary as our server. From the moment we arrived we were treated like regulars which included being sat at a window seat table with a Happy Anniversary card on it. What a sweet touch. Mary was gracious enough to walk me through the menu and possible modifications give that, sadly, I cannot eat dairy due to a medication I am on. They were very gracious and greatly helped me navigate the menu. Now let's talk about the meal. We started with two drinks: An Old Fashion and An Apple A Day, both of which were very good. We then had the Octopus appetizer with the avocado mousse on the side. It was perfect. My partner, who can have dairy, said the mousse was very good and also agreed that the appetizer was great with or without it. For our entrees I had the Rigatoni and they had the Bucatini Pasta. The food was perfection. I finished off the meal with the Blueberry Cheesecake (vegan) and my partner had the Crème Brûlée. The cheesecake was delicious and my partner said the crème brûlée was the best they've ever had. Complements to Chef Sosa! We asked about their tasting menu (Mary stated this is a new offering) and were told that it is the chefs passion and that he would be willing to make modifications such as what I need so we immediately made reservations for two weeks later. Had brunch with a friend here. We sat outside so I really couldn't give you a fair assessment of the the interior but it was a nice day and appreciated the option for dining al fresco. I had the house Bloody Mary and it was tasty and garnished well. I chose the classic Benedict though it was a toss up between that the schnitzel, the chilaquiles rojo, the shrimp and grits, the challah French toast and the ricotta pancakes. My dining partner got the schnitzel and it liked fabulous and I saw Al the other dishes being served and could say the same for all of them. My Benedict was really good. I loved the smokey ham and Portuguese muffin. I also ordered a side of bacon which was a nice thick cut and ample portion. I also got to try some local hot sauce with my meal and is available to purchase at the farmers market a few blocks away. Service was a bit slow but friendly. I meant to write this review a while ago, but completely forgot! Anyways, my fiancé and I went here for a special occasion. We had heard a ton of good things so we thought we would try it out. Unfortunately, we wouldn't go back, and here are the reasons why. The food was very average. There was no WOW factor for either of us, and we had gotten multiple plates to try out. There was way too much salt, and or overcooked items. For the amount that we paid, the plates themselves did not make sense and felt like they had no cohesion together. The service was ok, the night we went was rather busy, so I understand slower service because there were so many people. The server was nice, and did their best to check up on us once in a while, but probably broke down to being checked on once every 20min or so. The ambiance was fine, though we were at a seat closer to the door, and whenever someone came in the door would shoot freezing cold air at us. Which happened pretty frequently (so keep this in mind if you are going to go in the evening when it is a lot colder!) I kept my jacket on the whole time, which was fine, but wish I could have settled into the space a bit more! I wish I had a better review to give on this spot, as we had high hopes! How did this restaurant elude me for so long! We never knew that this spot existed in Vancouver - thinking we had tried a good portion of Vancouver eatery in these last 5 years here. I really love the ambiance and decor here! The tables are the cutest - with fresh flowers and a lit candle for dinner. The staff was SO kind, attentive, and helpful! We tried the * Crab Fondue * as a starter. I would have loved more of a cheese note in the dish - but I really liked the flavor palate and concoction! For dinner - my husband and I split the * Barette Steak * and * Sallops * We also got to try the * Rigatoni * to take home. The steak dish was delicious. Cooked PERFECTLY and seasoned well! The scallops were cooked perfectly - do not order this dish if you don't like saffron - it is very prominent in this dish. We didn't love this dish overall. The Rigatoni was fantastic - the sauce was to die for! For dessert - the * Carrot Cake * which was one of the most refreshing desserts I've had in awhile. Super moist. So let me just say the restaurant is adorable. I love the decor! I came in for brunch and I didn't know what to expect. However, the crab cake egg benedict was the single best eggs benedict I've ever had. The tang from the hollandaise sauce perfectly complimented the richness from the poached eggs. The crab cake was significantly stuffed with crab and was more crab than cake. Instead of an English muffin, I chose a Portuguese version which is a bit sweeter, and it really complimented the whole dish. The potatoes were so creamy and rich in texture (and no, they weren't mashed). It was so delicious all together. The service was excellent as well and everyone was friendly! In the past, we've tolerated the loud music and credit card in advance for a party of four but today was our last association with Elements. Their reservation system allowed us to make a reservation a few days ago. We drove there only to find that their chalkboard day/times schedule had been reset to 12 noon opening. Per the attached photos, the system allowed us to make a 10am reservation. That's been their opening time for as long as we can remember. I had brunch here today and the food was really good and environment was very nice. When we made the reservation for our group it said we had a 3hr time limit which was perfect. Our reservation was at 10 am and the plan was to depart at 1 pm. We order food and drinks and were having a great time and ordered more drinks. Then around noon our waitress came over and started to rush us to finish we were still drinking our cocktails. This was most us our first time here and up untill this point everything was great. Then she said that there was time limit on the table and we said we were aware it was 3hrs on our reservation and it had been a little over 2 hrs at this point she just said ok and walked away. She dropped off our tickets and we paid but we were still trying to finish our drinks. She came back and said they had another reservation and that they needed our table because that reservation couldn't go upstairs so we needed to go. We all just looked at each other and realized we were basically being kicked out at this point. The things is we wanted to order more drinks and finish our visit but that was not going to happen. It was very disappointing and just left a bad impression for me. I did want to come back and try there dinner menu it looked amazing but after today I don't think I'll be coming back. Super friendly and smiling staff greeted us immediately at the door. After a quick chat, they had us seated in no time! This was a very visually pleasing restaurant with great vibes. The outdoor seating looked awesome too! Place was packed! (I would recommend getting reservations!) We started by splitting the cured salmon and avocado benedict. I get benedict's everywhere to see where they stand on my scale. Let me tell you - the hollandaise here was INCREDIBLE!!! After asking for a side of more sauce, I dipped about everything I could into it and left nothing behind! (The photo is one of our split portions, not the full one!) Next up was the Challah French Toast. Came with 3 generous slices of toast covered in huckleberry compote and bourbon caramel. There's even a scoop of vanilla gelato melting over the top. And the dish even comes with bacon! Win!! Wife got the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and LOVED them. They were very very tasty. Perfectly dense yet light and moist. House made lemon curd was nice and zesty! Went well with the compote! And this dish comes with bacon too! Drink order was an Arnold Palmer and Iced Coffee. The AP was perfectly balanced. Tangy yet sweet. And my iced coffee hit the spot.
