We do love ourselves a good Mexican breakfast, and Otra Vez sure is the place for it. I'm a sucker for Chilaquiles, and it's done excellently here. Literally every chip is well sauced, and the plate has just the right balance of chicken, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, and an egg cooked how you want it. Most places just throw that stuff together, but it's very evident to me that the chef was thoughtful (dare I say artistic) in plating this up. Their rendition of a Rancheros plate was similarly impressive. Again, with good ingredient balance and with potatoes that are diced small that gives a better flavor kick to them. The egg was a little runnier than preferred, but the only flaw in an otherwise perfectly assembled dish. Otra Vez will offer up optional salsa...definitely say yes to this. It's an excellent sauce to add to everything. We were happy with the coffee too. Always important to have good coffee with the salsa burn of Mexican breakfast! Service was consistently attentive and focused. The dining room is interesting with 30-foot ceilings, which we didn't expect. All in all, something we can confidently recommend. I will note that this really is a breakfast/brunch place, so don't come thinking you can just order tacos/burritos/etc. They are very committed to Mexican Breakfast, and they do that especially well. Picked this place due to location nearby and what looked like a good menu. Sat at 10a and place was busy, groups waiting, and to-go orders coming and going. Total wait to be seated was about 30 mins and initial service was quick (order, drinks) but food took quite a while. Long enough that we were thinking "what's taking so long." When food finally arrived we noticed a table seated 15 mins after us had food arrive at the same time. So we assumed the kitchen must either cook in batches or there was a miss with our order Anyhow, we both had benedict variations which were decent. Eggs were poached well and not heavily smothered with hollandaise. Coffee was pretty good too. The restaurant could better optimize their floor space with more tables. Wow, this was tasty! I loved the vegan options. We had a burrito vegano, which was slightly dry but the sauces they gave us made it amazing. I might have cooked the vegan bacon slightly more but it was still delicious. The rancheros was one of the most delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts I've had in ages. The tortilla was crispy and the mix of flavors was absolutely perfection. Our server was Summer and she was very friendly and gave us great service. This space is incredibly cute and Latino cultura is present throughout which I love. From the cute and colorful patio to the pops of orange throughout the restaurant. It's truly a gem in design. Okay, I live family run restaurants. Especially if they are a little hard to find. I friend recommended Oltra Vez as a great Mexican Brunch place. The food did not disappoint. The menu is not strictly Mexican dishes as there is a basic breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast) and basic eggs Benedict but the real star for us was the Chorizo Benedict and the Ranchero dishes. The pancakes with the lemon blueberry compote on top is also killer. Service was great. Really seemed like a family restaurant in all the good ways filling water on the spot and checking in. Ambiance is nice. Although the ceilings are tall, sound did not seem overly echoey. The both cushions were a bit soft but it could have just been the Ken we sat at, built that is me being nitpicky. I've passed this restaurant dozens of times but the other day was my first visit. While many cafes and restaurants that serve breakfast offer one or two Mexican dishes (think: huevos rancheros, or migas if you're lucky), Otra Vez is actually a Mexican breakfast place! Three in our party got the most popular dish: chilaquiles (it had chicken on it). Delicious! One person got the pancakes with caramelized bananas (he wouldn't order it again but thought it wasn't too bad) and one got huevos rancheros. One of us asked for some salsa, as there were only bottled hot sauces on the table (Tabasco, Tapatio). The server (who was an excellent server by the way) brought 3 very small cups with more than one kind of what I assume was house made salsa (I can't remember if it was 2 or 3). They were excellent, full of delicious flavor. When we got the bill we were charged .75 for each! It was one per ticket. Not all of us asked for it and some didn't have any at all. Yes it wasn't a lot of money, but since when does a Mexican restaurant charge extra for salsa? That's why I'm not awarding Otra Vez 5 stars. Salsa should come with their savory meals. They need to rethink this and learn that customers appreciate generosity. read more

I have been wanting to go to Otra Vez for a while. I never seem to get myself together for dining out before they close. But I finally did it. I showered and dressed and made a decision and popped in. That alone felt like a win, but the real win was dining there with my partner. The space is open and bright. There are white walls and big windows. When it is sunny outside, everything feels warm and happy. All around us were joyful groups of people. There was a couple, two teenage girls playing media on a cell phone while at their table (grrr), and a group of senior women that kept growing until they were packed like sardines in that booth. It is nice to go out and be among people who are enjoying themselves, even if that means being forced to listen to a speakerphone call. I think I could have asked them to stop, but as a middled aged, fat, white woman, I am not looking to Karen it up. Part of what drew me to Otra Vez was their meatless options. I never even considered one aspect of their menu because I am usually looking for things to be made vegetarian. I learned they will not only make a meaty dish vegetarian or vegan. They also will make the vegan or vegetarian dishes meaty. That leaves everyone with options to make their meal perfect. I wanted to try the avocado toast (smashed avocado, queso fresco, chili flakes, and a poached egg on toasted whole wheat), and I will someday. But on this visit, it was all about a hot mug (they are giant) of coffee and Rancheros (over easy egg, salsa ranchera, pico de gallo, creamy black beans, chipotle, cheddar, crema, queso fresco, avocado, cilantro, corn tostada, and grilled potatoes). It all comes in a stack, so as you eat the parts blend together. Calling it a delicious slurry is probably gross because slurries frequently have manure in them. But I am choosing the definition that is without manure. I was surprised by how small the potatoes were diced. I am used to a chunkier breakfast potato. I gave them a shot, and they were delish. They had a really good flavor that enhanced the rest of my meal. My boyfriend got something with meat and liked it, but I am not recalling what. I will ask him to weigh in and post it as an update. I do know that we got a stack of Lemon Berry Panqueques (buttermilk vanilla pancakes, triple berry lemon compote, coconut cream, and maple syrup). They also make corn pancakes that I longed for until I saw they included banana. I have banana issues. The lemon berry ones were great. The compote was flavorful without being too sweet. I will say the coconut cream is a little weird. It tastes very strongly of coconut, and I don't think that mixes well with lemon and berry flavors. But, otherwise, they were fabulous. And it's not like the coconut stopped my eating them. I absolutely will go back. I can't wait to bring my vegan father. And I also want some chilaquiles. read more

First time visiting and was extremely happy with the food, service, and overall impression of Otra Vez. It's not one of those places you can easily see from the road despite being next to a main artery. Signage is pretty hidden. The main entrance is minimal as well, with only a small sign on the door. Parking wasn't a problem. The menu is minimal, which we love. Only nine main items on the breakfast menu. There is also a cocktail menu and we chose Mexican coffee and a mimosa. Very good. Crispy pan akes were excellent as was the Benedict with chorizo and Ranchero breakfast. Will be returning soon to try more! read more

Went here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The place was pretty crowded when we got there and even more crowded after we left around noon. The wait was like 20 minutes to get seated. Then another 20 mons to get our meals. The breakfasts were delicious too. The only problem is that there was not enough of the breakfast food there to really get you full. I mean I got the chorizo egg Benedict and it was so small that I was done with it in under 5 mins. For $14.00 I thought you might get a little bit more food. Oh well, if to you want to get full this is not the place to go. While eating I was saying to my self the we should have gone to a place like biscuits that had bigger portions. I came home after wards and made a cheeseburger. One thing I can say that it tasted delicious. The service was decent as well. Came to Otra Vez for Saturday brunch on the way to Beacon Rock. In love with the aesthetic and open windows with lots of natural lighting! My husband and I had a Tequila Sunrise and Grapefruit Paloma. That was probably the best Paloma I have ever had. Delicious and refreshing! We had the Chilaquiles and the Huevos Benedictinos. The Chilaquiles were delicious! The ingredients were fresh, the flavor was great, and it wasn't greasy or heavy. The Huevos Benedictinos were okay. Not bad not great. Put on a lot of hot sauce.
