Los Dos Compadres has good Mexican food near Camas of Washington. We came to visit group of eight. The restaurant is not busy and we are easily seated. The restaurant has painting on the walls with Mexican daily live. I got the carne asada and the Molcajeye. The carne asada is well marinated. The food well decorated with rice and grilled scallions. The second dish is the Molcajete. This is New Mexican dish I have not have it before. It has grill cactus leaves. Very interesting. This dish also has strip grill steak, chicken and shrimp. It cook with Diablo sauce. Spicy. In the sauce has bean, onion and mushroom. I would recommend try this dish. The plus side of the restaurant give a lot of food. Although they forget to give us the chorizo inthe Molcajete, we still like it. We got the gold peach and mango margaritas. Good big glass. The Horchata is delicious. read more

After hiking, the giant portions from Los Dos Compadres were very welcome. The veggie burrito made carrots work in Mexican food. The salsas were lacking, however, as the spicy one had no flavor, and the other had no veggies in it. Luckily, the green sauce and suiza were great. I thought Mexican restaurants in the Midwest were bad ... until we moved to Portland, Oregon. I love Mexican food, but I would rather cook at home then eat the crap places like this put out. I paid $20 plus tip ($24) for a dinner for one with NO DRINKS, only water, and all I had was a taco, enchilada, and chimichanga (it was actually a burrito) with refried beans and a small side of guacamole ($4.95). I like to have a margarita or a beer when I eat Mexican food, but I refuse to order drinks at restaurants that do not print drink prices on their menus. Soft drink prices were on the menu, but you have to guess how much the alcoholic drinks will be, meaning they are probably trying to gouge you. The chips were store-bought, about the same quality as you can get at Safeway just down the street and the salsa likely out of a plastic tub. You apparently have to pay extra if you want more than one bowl of their mediocre chips. I asked if they had "hot" salsa, something every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to has, but was told "that's all we got". The guacamole was not bad and was well seasoned, but the serving was skimpy for $5. The taco came on a pre-fab shell, a sure sign that you are eating at a substandard Mexican restaurant. If they do not even bother to fry their own taco shells, that tells you about their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Tacos are one of America's favorite foods, so why would anybody eat at a place that uses Rosarita or Old El Paso taco shells? There was plenty of ground beef, but it was an odd red color and so greasy (see video below) that the crappy shell was falling apart shortly after arriving at my table. I had to eat the last half off of the plate with my fork. The cheese and onion enchilada was the sole highlight of the meal, but that is not saying much. The supposed "chimichanga" that I ordered was actually a very small burrito, the smallest flour tortilla I have ever seen with shredded beef inside and two small dabs of guacamole on top. I asked the server if that was what they call a "chimichanga" and he said it was, telling me that it was supposed to be deep fried, a step they apparently had missed. Being so dismayed by my experience, I politely declined when he offered to have it remade. The service was friendly and good with the food coming very fast and my water glass topped-up without delay. Unfortunately, the food sucked just like at their sister restaurant a few blocks east and the fork they gave me still had food on it from the last customer. This place was just okay, I ordered a bean tostada and when it arrived it was wet all over the bottom of the plate and my tostada was soggy. It also had a ton of lettuce, but just one slice of tomato on top. It would have been easier to eat if the tomato was chopped. Overall I liked the flavors, but I want to try a different menu item next time. The Cazadores margarita hit the spot though. Their hot salsa has a good flavor but is very watery. Dined evening of 11/25. Our bartender was obviously very intoxicated and made for a extremely uncomfortable experience.

We have come here off and on for a number of years now, and we have left happy after every visit. This time was no exception. The restaurant is colorful and clean, the atmosphere is generally relaxing (especially in the small dining area to the left as you walk inside), and the staff is friendly and gives excellent service. We usually order combination dinners with cheese enchiladas and chile relleno, which are both always nice and saucy, with tasty rice and beans. On this visit I tried a ground beef taco with a hard shell, which came with lots of fresh lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. I didn't care for the taco meat and thought it was a bit bland, but I find that to be true of the ground beef in nearly every restaurant where I've tried it. We don't come out here often enough for my liking, and I am looking forward to my next visit! read more

I love mexican food and this place makes it well. Prices are relatively cheap with large portions of food that comes out quickly. If you ever come here I suggest either the super burrito or enchiladas. I very rarely eat in but when I do there isn't that long of a wait. Everyone that works here is super friendly and make sure you wont go hungry or thirsty. Also, they are very generous with their alcoholic beverages. Every Friday my family and I order for takeout. Nothing like enjoying a good burrito in the comforts of your own home! This is just about the only real "hang out" in Washougal so it gets packed at lunch time and packed at dinner time. At least they are very accomodating for large groups as well. Last time I went in we called about 10 minutes in advance for a group of 15 and they already had several tables set up for the whole group! That being said, this place has been solidly consistent throughout the years. I've never had a poor experience here; you get good portions for a pretty good price. My guilty pleasure is their cheese crispy. In Arizona we called it a cheese crisp, so I am working on adopting the "y". The food isn't over the top fancy Mexican, but is tasty and well priced. This was literally the worst experience I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. The food was completely devoid of any flavor. The "salsa" was just nasty tomato water. Seriously, it was just gross liquid, no onions, tomatoes, etc. The food was all so cold it had to be reheated. 2 dishes that said "sour cream and guac on the side" on the menu, came with both smothered all over the food making it disgusting and nearly inedible. The portion sizes were half the size of other area restaurants, but the prices were much higher. Do yourself a favor and explore other options for Mexican food.
