Horrible service when we entered, the waitress was complaining that she cant service even though it was before 4 o'clock because she hasn't had food and she needs to eat. then she felt bad for what she said and then she said and set us down. The food was OK but then it's very confusing where you're supposed to bus your plates so we decided to leave and then when we exited the restaurant the waitress called us back so we can go back and bus our plates in the back in the dark room. very strange never happened this before for me to be called back in to clean my table. I'll sum it up in a word: legit! I have only been on weekends so far, which feature a wider selection of things than they serve weekdays. Walk in past four or five different grills and rotisseries covered in every meat you'd hope to find. Carne asada, chicken, pork al pastor - obviously. But also lamb, lengua, tripe... It's a spectacle. The menu also has mole, birria, breakfast combos, and great Micheladas. The salsa bar is also brimming with at least ten options for condiments along with hot sauce. The tortillas are also great. They have a lightly sweet masa flavor and are nice and soft - good enough to eat plain, not that you would do such a thing with everything else on offer! They don't have much in the way of the usual Tex-Mex type stuff like burritos and enchiladas and whatnot. But don't let that distract you - pick something at random (I'm telling ya, the lengua is SO good) and odds are that you'll end up both stuffed and happy. read more

The three (3) of us ventured to Don Juan Corner Cafe after another place nearby wasn't open on a drizzly Sunday at 1pm. Glad we came! Amazing 1lb lamb with 4 corn tortillas, onions and cilantro, and red salsa for $21. Also had a pork tamale, not a lot of pork but what a big tamale! The lamb won the day. Idk what's with the bad reviews but .. It's the best Mexican food joint you'll find around the area and that's just FACTS. Their food is really delicious and full of flavor. I've been coming here twice a week (lol) for the wet steak burrito (fried like a chimichanga first). It's really that good. I never have to ask for sauces as they always bag up green, red, and even sour cream. The lady who seems to run the front is really friendly- and every time I call, she knows what I want to order. During Covid: I notice there is outdoor seating, and there is no indoor dining. You can walk into the restaurant to place orders. Space is limited & could fit a party of 1-2 at the front door area. When I got here, it was very busy, yet the staff was extremely friendly. It felt like a small warm and cozy place to eat. I'll have to dine in next time. When I paid for my meal, I was so surprised. Delicious, fresh and fast with a large assortment of salsas and condiments including chopped onion with cilantro. Wife had breakfast burrito and I had huevos rancheros. But the smell of the barbecue smoked chicken had us taking some home for football lunch. Nice to find local eateries with nice people worthy of supporting. 7/24/2021. Last weekend I ordered the Special they ran Chicken Mole. Off the chart amazing. I think the chicken is from the grill outside. This was a dinner only. Came with a larger portion of rice and tortillas, so you don't miss out of any of this generous amount of Mole sauce. Fall of the bone chicken. I love Mole and have not had it this good since leaving the Chicago area. I so hope this is put on the menu. I would order this every time. You could taste all the ingredients of the sauce. Oh boy, where to start. This place is unique and wonderul. Wen here the other evening fora late lunch/early dinner. Of the party of three, one wanted a burger and one wanted Mexican, an I always want Mexican, so I pulled up yelp and found this little gem. They have burgers (and other American dishes) and Mexican food. Score one for me! As we walk in we notice two large groups are enjoying meals and we grab a booth. We decide to order the small nachos to all share, a burger for my friend that was craving a burger, the carnitas tacos plate, and my other friend got the enchiladas. The "small" nachos are ginormous and with all three of us enjoying them, we still couldnt finish them all. My tacos were delicious and I heard the burger and enchiladas were also quite enjoyable. This place is casual, and is actually quite run down on the inside. When we arrived the staff didn't really acknowledge us, and then couldn't seem to decide who would seat us or where. Our orders took a very long time to cook despite having very few people dining at the time. The chips were warm and crispy, but the salsa was incredibly strange tasting and not flavorful at all. The cheese enchiladas were filled with slabs of Mexican cheese and they were chewy and extremely dry with almost no sauce at all, and the refried beans were bland but I enjoyed the rice. The chile relleno was huge and saucy, although it was odd tasting and not very good, and the rice on that plate had become dried out. The staff vacuumed around our table while we were eating, were standoffish throughout our visit, and didn't say anything to us when we were paying and leaving. Second time we come in, sit inside and had the same experience! Clearly known locals are treated well by the owners with everyone else being upright ignored. Had a Chile rellano and what literally tasted like canned refried beans (which they said were fresh) and undercooked Rice. Overall, it was bland and swimming In extra oil- tasteless. My husband had the carne asada over a salad and we both though the meat tasted off- to which the waiter (owner's son) repeatedly disagreed and said how fresh their meat was.. totally absurd and rude considering we were trying to be polite and still pay for the dishes. BREAKFAST: The house hash browns is amazing. Tons of peppers, ham, eggs... man it's just amazing! Other stuff isn't too bad, but this definitely takes the cake. LUNCH: While much of the mexican affair is decent, the real sleeper menu item here is the PHILLY CHEESE STEAK! This is easily the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had, and I've been to Phill! My girlfriend and I often contemplate getting this! They also have some really rad BBQ'd chicken. You have to call an hour in advance though and let them know you want it so they can be sure to go about the process they have of making it! Margaritas are pretty good there. Chips and salsa are nice. Hot sauces are great. Staff is really nice. It's definitely a hidden gem kind of place. Great prices though for pretty good to downright amazing food! read more
