    Tacos
    Karl A.

We came on a holiday Monday and we were so glad they were open. The weather was just nice enough to sit under the tent outside. The food was ready in just a few minutes. I tried a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a calamari taco. Each was busting with great flavor. These tacos are so flipping good! It was tough to eat all three because they were heaping full! I was so stuffed! Great food, great service!

El Viejon is a hidden gem and one of the best places to enjoy some authentic Mexican inspired cuisine. From the delicious seafood, tender birria and grilled meat tacos to some great vegetarian options it is a menu that is sure to please. I have had most all of the items including the excellent chips and guacamole and I have had all of the taco options and each is terrific. Give this wonderful business a try and I think you will agree, it's some terrific food here.

Arrived on New Year's Eve craving tacos and I was SO grateful they were open 11am - 11pm! Crowd was bustling with Vice Beer next door. They share seating and had a covered area for shelter from the cold wind. Ordered pork and steak tacos, cheese quesadilla for the kids and their chicken flautas. Everything was super delicious, arguably some of the best in the area. Looking to spice things up? Order the habanero hot sauce!

    3 dollars consommé'

I've been coming here since this taco truck first opened, and one of my favorite items on the menu has always been the consommé. Unfortunately, this recent visit left me really disappointed and surprised--in a bad way. I ordered two small consommés, but when I got them, I was shocked by how tiny the portions were. I even asked the server if I had actually been charged, because the size was unbelievably small. She told me, "This is our large cup--we just filled it halfway because we ran out of small cups." What? I clearly remember the small consommé being much larger in the past. Paying $3.00 for something so small felt like a rip-off. This is the first time I've ever left a bad review, but I'm genuinely disappointed. Sadly, you won't see me here again.

Great tacos! Don't let the location and views of auto repair shop in stop you from coming. Tacos are are some of the best! Homemade tortillas! Great customer service and the beer from the brewery is also decent.

Delicious tacos, the quesabirria tacos are my favorite! Quick service and conveniently located outside of Vice Beer. Having the options to get tacos with beer is a plus! Definitely recommend even if it's just to get the food.

This place is soo good, kinda pricey (4$-6$ per taco) but worth it for the quality! Definitely recommend the El Gobernador tacos and Vice brewing is next door if you want beer!

It was well cooked, the lengua had a nice flavor to it, and I appreciated the hot sauces available on the table. The decor inside is very nice, however, when I went in the restaurant had a scent of bathroom cleaning products. Not just a fresh or clean smell, but that scent you get from those overly scented chemical products. To be honest, that was the only downside. If it wasn't so strong and overpowering, I don't think I would have given anything less than five stars. The food is absolutely amazing, the portions are awesome, and the prices are very reasonable. Spanish speaking staff. Warm chips and good salsa. Decent rice and beans. The not so good: taco shells were not made on site, seem to be from a package. The margarita was not tasty, the mix was off and the house tequila was not so good. I could only finish half of it. Being my first time, I asked for her recommendation from the hostess on what to order? Instead of rising to the occasion, she immediately said I don't eat meat then proceeded to tell me about all the high dollar meat items. lol I could not take her recommendation to heart. I went with a somewhat safe bet of two crunchy tacos. The rice and beans were decent. The shells were crispy but flavorless. The salsa and chips were decent. The chips were warm. I finished the two tacos half the margarita and left. Would I go back here again? Probably not, with so many places to eat in this area, but I had to give it a shot. I overheard the table next to me complaining about their fajitas. The gentleman said "this is just Chuck steak" and I had to laugh out loud before I left. Disclaimer. I live in San Diego and judge Mexican food for its face value. I was not impressed. But maybe be i was there on an off night?
