Came for the first time tonight. I was kind of thrown off because the waitress was sitting at the counter doing work on the lap top. I wasn't sure if she was a customer or worker. Wasn't too welcoming. I had never been and was hoping she could go over some of the items and what was popular etc. we were the only ones in there so I figured she had time. But no one helped us or wanted to go over the menu. We got shrimp, carnitas tacos. The portion sizes were LARGE! However, the food was amazing! 10/10 The plating of the dishes were also 10/10 Portion sizes very generous I got a carnitas quesadilla and WOW it was as huge! Clean ingredients Beer was ice cold *we order and aqua Fresca, which was delicious. It was $5 for about 6 oz and mostly ice. I know they make it in house but jeez it was very pricey. Very casual ambiance, good place to grab happy hour. You can sit, have a beer and watch a sports game at the bar. During warmer months they have a patio. Little Conejo is a great spot. My torta hit the spot. The bread is light and puffy and the meat falls out in a (and a mean this as a compliment) gorgeous sloppy Joe way. The flavors are spot on. I want to come back and try the tacos, specials and bevs. A note on setting: this is the standard counter PNW service, except there are some communal tables (the patron sitting with me was on FaceTime the whole meal, but that's not the restaurant's problem... it's society's). It's sad how much the quality here has dropped off. I brought a group of six. Across the board our meal was bland. The queso birria had burnt cheese, the beans were overcooked and tasted like they came from a can. The fish and shrimp tacos tasted the same and both were lackluster. The drinks were meh at best. This place has been on my Yelp must-try list for quite some time. Finally decided to try it today. Parking can be a challenge since it's located in downtown Vancouver with only street parking available. They have both inside and outside seating areas. We walked in on a Saturday around noon. There was a line forming out the door, but it moved quickly. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Every table has a number. The person taking our order asked us if we preferred indoor or outdoor seating, then sent us to a particular numbered table. Pretty sufficient ordering process. Seemed to work well for how busy they get. We ordered the chips, salsa and guacamole, which came out quickly after we sat down. The chips were nice and crispy, guacamole fresh, and salsa had great flavor. We really enjoyed it and appreciated it coming so quickly because it seemed like our food took forever. Granted it was super busy there on a Saturday. It got super loud inside with almost every table occupied, which made it difficult to have a conversation. I ordered a couple tacos, including a carnitas ($4.50) and fried Mahi Mahi ($6.25). The carnitas had great flavor and I would definitely order that taco again. The Mahi Mahi taco was okay. The slaw on top of the fish was too spicy for me. I didn't see anything listed in the ingredients that screamed spice, so I was a bit surprised by the heat. I'm not a fan of hot spicy food, so I wouldn't order that one again. My husband ordered the carnitas corn cakes, off the brunch menu. He really enjoyed the flavors. It was a generous amount of food for $15. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit. Yummy food, friendly staff and cool vibe inside with big windows and hardwood floors. Casual place you walk in to order your drinks and food at the counter. They will assign you a table # to go to. You need to grab your own water, utensils and napkins before heading to your table. Food and drinks were beautifully presented. We enjoyed almost everything. The sauce on the cactus taco was way too spicy for our taste but we enjoyed the texture and what's in it. Drove past little conejo to see that it was popping on a Saturday evening so my friend and I decided to get a few tacos for pickup. We didn't expect much but we were blown away with how delicious these tacos were. Yes it's a little pricey but for a treat I would definitely come back for a good taco. The "gringa" version of the tacos is a must and definitely get extra salsa on the side (though these tacos are super flavorful as is). I received prompt service and sat at the bar, as I wanted to eat and watch my show! I ordered 2 mushroom and 1 al pastor taco, did not disappoint! I believe I ate them in record time. So much flavor on both, al pastor had a little bite to it, but I enjoyed it, I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing about either of them. Place was getting busy as I was ending my meal, but it never felt like it was chaotic! My server was tentative but also let me be, in a good way! Hurts to write this, but something has happened here to the point where I won't spend money here anymore. Borderline rude staff, absolutely no systems that ensure consistency. Untoasted torta roll, takeout orders frequently wrong. There are items in the online ordering platform that seemingly don't exist on the in-house menu; online ordering is a la carte to the extreme. Every single visit here is a completely different experience; please strain your tinga before serving. It's a shame, but recent reviews seems to validate my take. Finally made it to Vancouver to try this Mexican place that's been on my must visit list for sometime. On my way back to Portland from the Vancouver Farmer's Market, I passed the restaurant and there was a parking spot out front, so I had to give it a try. Kismet. It was about 1:30 and the place was packed, inside and out. It's a bright, light filled space especially when the outside area is open. Even with the crowds the staff was friendly, efficient, and did their best to get the food out quickly. For my first time, I got the carnitas tacos. It's always my go-to when trying a new Mexican place. Since this is a brick and mortar, prices are higher than a food truck, with a taco costing $4.50, but they are large with plenty of filling. The pork was tender, flavorful and had the crispy bits carnitas are known for. Enjoyed my lunch but wouldn't drive from Portland just to eat here, but after a Farmers Market run, it was perfect. read more

Amazing brunch. I loved the corn cakes with short rib... I just couldn't stop eating it until my plate was clean. And it was a good portion! The corn cakes actually held the eggs and short rib up well. The flavors mixed fantastically. We've found ourselves in Vancouver twice in the last few months and decided to eat at Little Conejo both times. It's a cute, trendy, little spot with lots of big windows and natural light. There's a very small bar and lots of different sized tables so big groups are definitely welcomed. The staff has been super helpful and friendly both times we've been. You order at the register and then they give you a seat and bring out your food. We started with the chips and guacamole and I was a little disappointed that they don't make their own chips. The chips are fine, but could be so much better. The guacamole was fresh and delicious, a very generous portion as well. My daughter and I couldn't finish it on our own and we love guacamole. We also got two of their agua frescas, which are actually sparkling! It's a really fun twist on an agua fresca. We enjoyed the Tamarind, but one of the ladies working recommended we do 1/2 pineapple and 1/2 hibiscus and that was definitely the winning combination. They also have a rotating flavor each day, so definitely check that out if it's available. They have brunch on the weekends, which looks so good, but both times we've had their tacos. The fish tacos are HUGE, you can barely close the tortilla around the fish. You do not need more than 2 of these, I struggled to finish my second. The fish is fried to perfection and topped with a red salsa and cabbage. My daughter also raved about the carnitas. This will definitely be our go to spot when we find ourselves in Vancouver. read more

Great service and so fast for being so packed on a Saturday night. They are efficient. Salsa is so good, make sure to ask for some for your table. I got the choriqueso taco, which was good but a little light on meat, very very cheesy. A nightmare of a group (5 adults, 8 kids) came in and were being rude and impatient about being sat. They were waiting making snide comments about being asked not to take a table reserved for another group. Eventually they just pounced on an open table, pulling chairs from other tables even though there was clearly a system. The staff handled it very professionally. read more

I still visit the original Lil Conejo from time to time since they closed their food truck. Still love their food, though most recent visit the al Pastor tacos they always did so well were a little dry. Same for their incredible rice and beans. Usually they've all been some of the best i've ever had. Chips and Guacamole is still top-notch, and the vibes are great for hanging out. Appreciate the slightly larger size of the tacos, and the generous amount of meat they put on, compared to many popular places now. I was let down a bit by the margaritas, which feel like they should have been better, or more special for such a place. It was a bit watery and the mix just tasted pre-made from a bottle or something, and not too fresh. The salsa with the chips was a bit too roasted for my tasty, but your mileage may vary. I'll still make the drive to Vancouver once in awhile for this place, but it's not quite as compelling as it was at their peak shortly after they opened. read more

Stopped by this downtown Vancouver restaurant for lunch today. I had the Suadero Taco and the Chicken Tinga Taco. Both were good but the Chicken Tinga was by far the best of the two. Perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. A squeeze of lime completed the flavor bomb. The Suadero was pretty good but the meat needed more seasoning. Just a bit of salt would have added flavor. I added guacamole to both tacos. I'm glad I did. Delicious! My companion ordered the House made ginger ale. So good! Not all that gingery but just enough. It had a lovely hit of lime as well. I'm not a ginger ale fan but I would order this again. We had a nice time enjoying the sunshine on the sidewalk table. The guy who took our order was friendly and helpful. I only gave 4 stars because of the under seasoned beef taco. Other than that, it was a 5. read more

I'll start with the two stars earned. The menu reads like it's going to be amazing and it's got an atmosphere that's bathed in whatever sunlight we can get in PNW. The food is way too expensive for what you're getting - and this is coming from a chef and caterer. The food is also WAY TOO effing SALTY. I get that you're likely wanting to get people to buy more alcohol with the saltiness but holy hell, guys, dial it BACK a notch or two! I've tried Little Conejo three separate times and 2/3 of the time the food was inedible it was so overly salted. And no, I'm not super sensitive to salt. I am, however, sensitive to paying people's wages by agreeing to outrageous pricing when the service is ABYSMAL. Nearly every employee I was unfortunate enough to have had to ask for something acted as if I had intruded on their day. By the fifth person encountered with this shitty attitude, I said, "Never again!" And I'm a big fan of bringing people to places I love with word of mouth. But this is a place I warn people with taste to stay away from. Pity. I really wanted to like this place. Just... unnecessarily disappointing. read more

A great spot to eat on a sunny day. India and outdoor seating is all nice with a casual yet upscale for an order-at-the-counter restaurant. The bar puts out delicious looking cocktails to complement your meal. I had the torta and it may have been the best torta I've ever had. The bread was charred just to the edge of hard and crunchy. The side of chips, salsa and guacamole were delicious and plentiful. The side of rice and beans was also delicious.
